    Even Grok agrees.

The comment is from the Daedalus diary thread. I’ll pull the page so the surrounding context is clear.
That comment is from ISTE on the Diary of Daedalus post “It’s been fun.” (5 September 2026), which reads as a wind-down after years of watching Charles Johnson and Little Green Footballs.
ISTE is describing the early technical side of that effort: scraping and archiving LGF posts and comments, then parsing them with Visual Basic 6 on Windows XP over dial-up. Where he lived there was no cell service or broadband, so one phone line ran Internet 24/7 and a second line was voice from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and dial-up the rest of the time. Some captures took him about three weeks. He contrasts that with “Nils Stooge,” who did similar work in a few hours on a Linux machine he assumes was simply faster.

The rest is in-joke nostalgia from that circle (Beed, small feet, a balloon penis birthday gag) and the punchline that LGF declined because Johnson became boring. Other comments on the same thread (Octopus, squid) are in the same register: fond of the old pile-ons and the banned-list era, dismissive of Johnson after his post-2008 shift, and signing off. Diary of Daedalus has long positioned itself as the archive and running commentary on Johnson (“Keeping an eye on Icarus”), including the LGF Memory Hole Mosaic of deleted threads and comments. LGF’s side has long treated the site as a stalker blog. The September 2026 post and these replies are that project saying the watching is mostly over.

Supper is onions, cashews slow cooked in a splash of water and some coconut oil for about 30 mins to soften the onions and cashews. Then fake crab seasoned with onion salt and smoked paprika is added and heat turned up to high on the stove.

When sizzling add green peas from a can. Stir then turn off heat. Let it all blend.

When hungry turn up the heat, put two thick slices of fresh bread in the toaster. Toast the bread medium rare. Then spread garlic butter on the bread and air fry it about 4 mins at 400F, no pre heat.

So we now have garlic toast, a fake crab, onions, cashew and pea thing. How to serve it?

Well, what is essential in gourmet cooking is, you splash a seriously generous dollop of alfraido out of a jar onto the fake crab in the skillet and turn off the heat.

The meal is cooked and looks wonderful. But I am no longer hungry but drunk.

Lucy may post the meal tomorrow sometime. She put it all in the fridge and went to sleep on the couch.

    @ Possum:
And Grok says. This AI thing is getting real and scary.

Serve it open-faced, hot, while the Alfredo is still glossy.Pull the skillet from the fridge and reheat gently over medium until the onions and cashews loosen and the fake crab is steaming, not boiling. Stir once so the peas don’t turn to mush. While that warms, toast the bread again if it has gone soft, then re-air-fry the garlic-butter slices for a couple of minutes so the edges crisp back up.Plate each thick slice of garlic toast on its own plate. Spoon a generous pile of the onion-cashew-crab-pea mixture on top, then finish with that serious dollop of jarred Alfredo so it melts down through the pile and onto the toast. A last pinch of smoked paprika on the sauce is enough. Eat with a fork and knife so the toast doesn’t collapse immediately, or just fold it and accept the mess.If Lucy posts it tomorrow, the fridge version is fine cold-start as long as the reheat is slow and the toast is redone. The coconut oil and cashews keep it from drying out.

That was last night, the other half is safely in the fridge so supper tonight is still undetermined.

Currently my knees and hips are giving me pain, but not all at once. Left knee leads but sometimes in right knee but left is OK.

Same with hip joints, so WTF. I would think joint damage pain stays constant.

I think my body needs sardines!

Tonight supper will be a fishy one. The preparation is going to be slow cooked yellow onions so they retain some crunch, in coconut oil ( that reminds me, we are almost out ) then added to some Uncle Ben’s garden veggie rice, some peas and a splash of chicken stock, a 94 cent packet of Walmart tuna and some tomato puree. Cook on low for a long time…

That will make a kind of poor man’s Paella. A Spanish dish mainly, not common in the USA

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paella

To be served topped with sardines in oil that have been dusted with grated parmesan and then flash grilled for a few minutes at 400F in my trusty air fryer.

Or maybe a can of chicken noodle soup.

    A cat post.

If you believe anything on the Internet the consensus is a cat can understand about 120 human words.

And in my experience they ignore all 120 words, even their name if they don’t feel like it.

Cats are assholes. The love of my life Natasha ignores me if she is busy looking for mice or sleeping. The other asshole cat Glen ignores me when I call his name, but he responds to me saying ” Natasha ” as he thinks I am going to give her treats or something else he should know about.

Anyway, reason for this post. Natasha is tuned into the sound of a fresh pack of smokes been opened. A mini slim Jim being peeled. And a PurrPop opening!

LOL no matter where she is, whatever she is doing if I quietly say ” Purrrpoppp ” she miraculously appears.

I have to do a video. Pur Pops are “lickable treats ” she takes one down in about 9 seconds.

Been up since 2am. When retired day and night are not important. Breakfast is lunch or supper.

Anyway, It is 8:37am and the cats are outside, enjoying the morning sun. Doing cat things. AKA sleeping.

My meal which is neither breakfast or lunch or supper is going to be beef sandwiches, like a Philly cheesesteak thing.

What inspired me to make this post?

A really fast mouse just ran past me. A big and fast mouse!

Why do I employ two cats? Why is a big and fast mouse stupid enough to move in to my apartment?

Well the Fairford plan worked. Them noisy American bombers have fucked back to wherever they came from and now there is peace and tranquility in the English countryside again.

Now, in unrelated news, in villages around RAF Mildenhall and Lakenheath there is a very severe shortage of 1 hour quick tanning cream. The hardware stores are all completely out of rain collecting barrels and there is a waiting list for renting white cargo vans.

The locals realised if the plan worked for Fairford it will work again for the other USAF bases.

Delivered today was a Frozen Dolly Parton beef pot roast thing. Expensive at $4.14 but easy. Only 290 calories so fuck all nutritionally.

Or more wine and a purr pop!

A dilemma. Non stick pans that last a lifetime. Is it how long I live?

Anyway a regularly cheap frying pan lasts me about six moths before it isn’t non sticky any more but with severe scraping I can remove my meal and it washes up fine.

Kep getting ads for that hexclad stuff but it is expensive. about $120+ for an 8 inch fry pan. Actually that is big enough for a ;only old man that cooks for one. But I digress.

They do a 2 quart saucepan for about ten bucs more. Wondering if I could use it as a frying thing as well.

If so I may get one.

However it would have been nice if someone had pointed out to me that the clocks did not change last weekend as I thought but they change 1st November.

I realised this at 7am today when the school busses were picking kids up in the dark.

Oh well, the cats also thought the clocks changed as they were demanding breakfast an hour earlier, or an hour later, or whenever I woke up. Whichever was sooner.

These AI calls are getting boring. Had six so far today.

The medicare/medicade ones where they ask if I am enrolled and I say yes. I lied.

Then it asks me my age and I say 73, I lied.

Then it transfers me to an Indian. Not the Indians that wear feather head things but the curry munching type.

Which I cannot understand what they are saying.

Got a couple of car insurance AI calls. Answered all the questions then got put through to a human so I could waste human time. I like those.

Only got one political call asking for a donation. They are the best!

The human does not realise that if I donate it is a felony.

and it is not even 1pm yet.

It is an exquisite creation. Tuna with cream cheese and chives wrapped in a delicate puff pastry and baked to perfection.

As usual it looks like a bent donkey’s dick.

If I was the creative type of person I would invent an air fryer that was long and skinny. That way I could cook straight encroute ( French for wrapped in pastry ) awesome meals that were not bent!

When renting an apartment do not just visit during the day. Tell the renters you want to test drive it for 24 hours?

    Why you may ask?

Well as you all know in my life there is no day or night. Actually I am usually most active in the night and sleep in the day.

Trash collection in this area. Last night it was 3am, tonight 1:15am. Obviously different apartment complexes so why do I care?

It seems the garbage trucks on their way down the street serving a few apartment complexes like to stop outside my apartment and do the really noisy hydraulic digesting and compacting the freshly acquired trash.

My local leftists are playing word games again. They are pushing a ballot initiative to block “dark money” from elections, and they are getting a lot of attention from the normies that are clueless how things work. This initiative is directly pointed at blocking small business owners from donating to candidates that support what they need. Soros money and the lefts environmental money laundering organizations aren’t affected all.

How are initiatives like this that are specifically targeted at one party while leaving the other party completely unaffected allowed?

We have the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Assoc. to help cut through the crap.

Howard Jarvis is long gone, but he was the one who got Proposition 13 on the ballot. It limits California’s property tax increases to a maximum of 2% per year. Before that, retirees were losing their homes and land, and if they died, their heirs were often forced to sell. The socialists in Sacramento have been trying to defeat Prop. 13 for years, and this year is no different.

My standing rule is if in doubt, vote NO.
