THIS IS AN OPEN THREAD

Oh, do we some football today!

That USC team out West is lookin’ good, Sam Darnold WILL be playing on Sundays. So will Washington’s Jake Browning. These two are perfect examples of classic Dan Marino / Joe Montana Qb’s. They are NOT read-zone squirrel brains like Kaepernick and RGIII, both of whom are unemployed. One is a lefy scum and the other is a God-fearing conservative. Being a shitty, squirrel-brained quarterback knows no politics.

But, all eyes are on Alabama who are agains the Pre-Season #1.

#11 Michigan at #17 Florida 3:30 PM. In my world, M should be winning, it means that the Galaxy is in balance. I grew up with M playing and winning every Saturday, same with Notre Dame. Them having a good season brings peace and harmony to the world, at least on Saturdays. Michigan is a 5 point favorite on the road at the ‘Gators. Jim Harbaugh’s boys had a massive turnover after last season, they are now almost last in experience in D1. He will win a national championship soon, but not this year, I would go against the spread and even think of an upset if a whole bunch of Gators weren’t suspended. Michigan covers on the road for that reason. Harbaugh is going to have to beat Ohio State and soon, well, OSU looked beatable against the Hoosiers Thursday night.

#3 Florida State at #1 Alabama 8:00 PM. #3 at #1 in Week 1! The Playoffs sure have changed things, now you have to impress and play the hard games out of conference. This will be the FSU defense game to lose. Reno has FSU getting 7 points. The ‘Noles are 7 point dogs? With that defense? No Way. The ‘Noles beat that spread!

THEN ON SUNDAY:

#22 West Virginia at #21 Virginia Tech 7:30 PM. Is the WVU offense for real? This will be a great test. West BY-God Virginia is a 4 point dog, they UPSET the Hoakies on the road. Those toothless, ridge-runnin, hicks had better pull it off too because it pains a PITT grad to even think of WVU winning. This should be a fun game to watch.

Texas A&M at UCLA 7:30 PM. Vegas has The Aggies as a 4 point dog. Nope, they cover. This should be a really good game as well.

MONDAY:

#25 Tennessee at Georgia Tech 8:00 PM. The Vols are 3 point favorites on the road. Caesar’s has the Vols at 3 point favorites. They should cover.

Say Goodnight, Glenn

Generic Corporate Statement that means nothing:

Glenn Beck announced that he laid off a sizable portion of the workforce at his production company and conservative-learning news outlet on Thursday, citing the “structural challenges facing media companies today.”

Well, Glenn…Perhaps if you weren’t such an ass you might still be in business. Your Cruz worship was downright creepy. No, Glenn, Cruz was not sent by God and you can’t have his baby. You insulted Trump’s supporters on a personal level and now  you pay. No, Glenn, you are not a messenger from God, nor are you the arbiter of all things righteous. You blew it and it is a shame because you had talent and a great message once.

You would have rather seen Hilary in the White House than Trump? How is that even remotely ‘Christian’? Go sit over there with NRO and American Spectator, both of which are losing ‘clicks’ every month since they went Nevertrump as well.

Tax Reform Day

It’s Tax Reform Day!

Taxes are not only a method to collect funds (fruits of your labor) by force, but, they are also a means of control over your life. The tax code is a control device, reduce the amount of taxes and reduce the tax code to a simple flat rate and control and freedom are given back to the citizen.

In the light of the fact that less taxes and less code equals more freedom and liberty, lets see what the GOPe, the ‘principled conservatives’, Nevertrump bastards and the rest of the leeches in D.C. are going to do to prevent Trump from getting some freedom and liberty back to the citizens.

If they are against tax cuts and against reducing the tax code they are against your freedom and liberty, and for taking the fruits of your labor by force. PERIOD.

USS Indianapolis Found

“That was the time I was most frightened, waitin’ for my turn. I’ll never put on a life jacket again.” –Shark hunter Quint [Robert Shaw] in the 1975 film “Jaws.”

Quint was referring to the tragedy of the USS Indianapolis, torpedoed in 1945:

Recently the USS Indianapolis, missing for 72 years, has been found in the Philippine Sea approximately three and a half miles below the surface. Story w/ pics here.

Woody James was 23 at the time of the attack and lived to tell about it. His story of horror is very understated:

“Sunday, the 29th of July was a quiet day. The sea was runnin five or six feet waves, just a beautiful day out. Didn’t do too much, read a book, did a little tinkerin as usual. Had the 8:00 to 12:00 watch and just got off at midnight. A guy relieved me about a quarter to twelve. I went down through the galley and had a cup of coffee. Then went to my compartment and got a blanket off my bed and went back up on deck. I slept under the overhang on the first turret. My battle station was inside it so in case general quarters sounded, I slept underneath it. Just got laid down good, using my shoes for a pillow as usual and the first torpedo hit. I was up and down between the deck and the overhang of the turret like Yankee Doodle Dandy. And, I wondered, ‘what in the hell is goin on?’

I got out of my blanket and started to roll out from underneath the turret and the other torpedo hit. Another Yankee Doodle deal, all over the place. I started to walk forward to see what I could see and what I seen was about sixty-foot of the bow chopped off, completely gone. Within a minute and a half, maybe two minutes at the most the bow is startin to do down. It filled up with water that fast. Everything was open below deck and the water just flooded in and we were still under way, just scoopin water. Complete chaos, total and complete chaos all over the whole ship. Screams like you couldn’t believe and nobody knew what was goin on. The word got passed down, “ABANDON SHIP”! It was maybe five minutes and we were really down in the water so we proceeded to abandon ship.”

–Woody James

Read the rest of his ordeal here. It’s even scarier than Quint’s monologue.
