From our friends at Carnegie Mellon University:

This is pretty cool

Timelapse

Timelapse is a global, zoomable video that lets you see how the Earth has changed over the past 32 years. It is made from 33 cloud-free annual mosaics, one for each year from 1984 to 2016, which are made interactively explorable by Carnegie Mellon University CREATE Lab’s Time Machine library, a technology for creating and viewing zoomable and pannable timelapses over space and time.

Using Earth Engine, we combined over 5 million satellite images acquired over the past three decades by 5 different satellites. The majority of the images come fromLandsat, a joint USGS/NASA Earth observation program that has observed the Earth since the 1970s. For 2015 and 2016, we combined Landsat 8 imagery with imagery from Sentinel-2A, part of the European Commission and European Space Agency’s Copernicus Earth observation program.

Search, pan, or zoom around to begin exploring our new Timelapse, or even check out our YouTube highlights. To embed the timelapse viewer on your site, use the “Share or embed” button above. You can also create a timelapse tour that moves from one destination to another over time using the Timelapse Tour Editor.

Timelapse is an example that illustrates the power of Earth Engine’s cloud-computing model, which enables users such as scientists, researchers, and journalists to detect changes, map trends, and quantify differences on the Earth’s surface using Google’s computational infrastructure and the multi-petabyte Earth Engine data catalog.

In each State Capital there will be a meeting of that State’s Electors who will place their votes for President of the United States.

Keep in mind on this wonderful day:

Trump will be out by Iowa.

Trump will lose the GOP nomination by the time the South Carolina primary rolls around.

Trump is collapsing and is in free-fall, it’s over.

Trump will never get to 1237 delegates.

Trump is Hilary’s stalking horse

Trump is collapsing and is in free-fall, it’s over.

Trump works for Clinton

Trump is collapsing and is in free-fall, it’s over.

Trump is collapsing and is in free-fall, it’s over.

Trump is collapsing and is in free-fall, it’s over.

Trump won’t win Florida

There is no path to 270 for Trump

Trump won’t win Michigan.

There is no path to 270 for Trump

Trump won’t win Wisconsin.

There is no path to 270 for Trump

Trump won’t win Pennsylvania.

That’s right, there was no path to 270, there was a YUUUUGE road to 306 though.

Sunday Sports Spectacular (nflweek15)

It’s hard to believe we have two more weeks to go in what has been one of the sorriest NFL seasons on record.  The hapless Browns can’t get it together, having made bad investments in a string of quarterbacks (bearing in mind that I really LIKE RGIII personally).  Hint for the scouts – Tom Brady was drafted in the SIXTH round; Joe Montana and Russell Wilson in the THIRD.  Hell, Steve Young went to the USFL first.  I mean do you guys even speak the name “Johnny Football” around the campfire anymore.  Of course, the Schadenfreude over the 49ers posting the crappiest season I can remember since 1982 gets me all warm and toasty from head to toe.   And considering their current predicament, I recommend a seance to bring back the ghost of Bill Walsh for scouting advice, you know, after his initial comment of “what the F**K have you done to my TEAM?!”

So wrap those presents, be of good cheer, hit the egg nog and enjoy the day!  And as always, an open thread to discuss the latest Trump “outrage” being fretted about by the MSM, who apparently will need to be talked off ledges on inauguration day.

The Games
Eagles @ Ravens
Browns @ Bills
Packers @ Bears
Steelers @ Bengals
Jaguars @ Texans
Titans @ Chiefs
Colts @ Vikings
Lions @ Giants
Saints @ Cardinals
Scumsucking Bottom Feeders @ Falcons
Patriots @ Denver
Raiders @ Chargers
Buccaneers @ Cowboys

Monday’s Game
Panthers @ Redskins (now there’s a “minimal” travel day!)

Now who could have sent THIS I wonder……

In the NHL, it’s a busy day.  And I’m finding I don’t have to look up team names nearly as much as I used to.
Kings @ Bruins
Avalanche @ Jets
Blue Jackets @ Canucks (I still think of Edmund Muskie when I hear “Canuck”)
Sharks @ Blackhawks
Senators @ Islanders
Devils @ Rangers

In the NBA, for those who follow (and LeBron James can kiss my rosy Irish bum; Jim Brown has more class and has done more to uplift the Black community in a year than this preening prima dona and the other race dividers that slather over him)
Clippers @ Wizards
Celtics @ Heat
Jazz @ Grizzlies
Pelicans @ Spurs
Kings @ Mavericks
Raptors @ Magic
Nets @ 76ers

Next week, there will be no Sunday Sports Spectacular. Because, you know, CHRISTMAS, and also because the NFL is only playing two games that day – going with playing on Christmas Eve for 24 other teams. So Cold Warrior gets to report on the games – but personally what the heck – you know when your team’s playing and the NCAA is FAR more interesting.

Good Riddance, Neo-Con Chickenhawks

The Neo-Cons should be viewed in the lens of no left and right, no Democrat or Republican. They can be viewed in the lens of Nationalist (America first) versus Globalist (someone who places the interest of everyone else over the interests of America). There are Globalists in the GOP just as in the Democrat Party. Their end result is the same, a weaker America subservient to the needs and whims of the rest of the globe. Globalists despise the nation states and cannot stand a powerful, hegemonic nation state that looks out for it’s own interests.

Make no mistake, globalism is Socialism. It destroys wealth in advanced countries and spreads and misery to all countries only benefiting ‘the elites’ of both. The wealth, treasure, and blood of the powerful country is spent in far off places who do not want or need or deserve our help. Our jobs have been sent abroad, our military has been ground down, and our economy is in shambles. For What? Really. FOR WHAT? This started under Bush Senior and continued unabated until now.

I say good riddance to these Neo-Cons who would fight to YOUR last drop of blood and your last dollar in the name of global socialism. These people are not patriots, they are not ‘great Americans’, they are Socialist. The left is from whence these people came. They were Leftist Democrats; now they can just go away.

I disagree with the title below, however, these people are not Conservatives. they are Socialists.

BYE-BYE, NEOCONS. The Jewish conservatives and ‘nation builders’ who led us into Iraq and Afghanistan bet the farm against Donald Trump, and lost. What now?

Israeli leaders of all major parties warn of two existential threats to Israel: a U.N. resolution forcing Israel back to the 1967 armistice line, and a nuclear-armed Iran. With Donald Trump’s election both threats have receded into the distance, and the State of Israel is more secure than it has been in its history. Yet American Jews, at least the majority of politically active Jews of high public profile, are miserable. America’s best-known Jewish conservatives—the “neocons”—have burnt their bridges to the incoming administration. It is one of the strangest, and silliest, episodes in Jewish political history….That leaves Kristol, Podhoretz, Krauthammer and the neoconservatives in the worst of all possible political worlds. They switched sides during the election and cheered for a Democratic victory. After their election defeat, they threw a collective tantrum, burning bridges to the winning side. That makes them a liability for the foreseeable future and leaves a giant lacuna in American Jewish political life.
