Turkey threatens Retaliation against Syria

The Neo-Ottoman Muslim Brotherhood Regime in Turkey is threatening retaliation against the Baathist Regime in Syria. Yesterday the Syrians downed a Turkish F-4 near their coast.  Today, Turkish President and Erdogan lackey, Abdullah Gul, said Turkey can’t be silent over this incident. The Turks have been looking for ways to help their Muslim Brotherhood allies in Syria and this could be the pretext.

ANKARA, Turkey (AP) — Turkey will take retaliatory steps against Syria for the downing of one of its military jets, President Abdullah Gul said Saturday, even as he suggested that the aircraft may have violated Syrian airspace.

It was not clear if Gul was suggesting military retaliation, increased sanctions against Syria or other possible steps, including demands for an apology, and his aide would not comment on his words. But Faruk Celik, Turkey’s Labor and Social Security Minister, said Turkey would retaliate “either in the diplomatic field or give other types of response.”

“Even if we assume that there was a violation of Syria’s airspace — though the situation is still not clear — the Syrian response cannot be to bring down the plane,” Celik told reporters.

“The incident is unacceptable,” he said. “Turkey cannot endure it in silence.”

The incident further escalated tensions between Syria and NATO-member Turkey. The two neighbors used to be allies before the Syrian revolt began in March 2011, but Turkey has become one of the strongest critics of the Syrian regime’s brutal response to the country’s uprising and is playing host to civilian and military Syrian opposition groups.

There is nothing better than having 2 Islamic regimes be at each others throat. I hope they go to blows and both get bloody. Our enemies are now at each others throats. We should stay out of their way and let them destroy each other.

Barbara Walters tried to help aide to Bashar Assad find employment at CNN

Fortunately I never saw Babs Walters interview with Baby Assad – I guess she asked him if he could be tree, which one would he be? Just another example of Western journalists fawning over bloody dictators as long as they are leftists and/or Islamic. I wonder if Miss Jaafari realizes that her “adopted mom” is Jewish which would make her Jewish according to Jewish religious law!

Barbara Walters, the grande dame of American television news, has been forced to apologise after it emerged that she had tried to use her influence to further the career of a former leading aide of the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Emails seen by The Daily Telegraph show that Walters tried to help Sheherazad Jaafari, the daughter of Syria’s UN ambassador, secure a place at an Ivy League university and an internship with Piers Morgan’s CNN programme.

When confronted with the emails, which were obtained by a Syrian opposition group, the 82-year-old ABC broadcaster admitted a conflict of interest and expressed “regret” for her actions.

Miss Jaafari, 22, was a close adviser to Mr Assad and was at his side as Syrian troops stepped up their campaign of killing and repression. She would speak to him several times a day, sometimes calling him “the Dude” in her adopted American accent, and was sometimes the only official in the room when he did interviews with Western journalists.

Walters’s interview in December – the first with an American television network – made headlines around the world as Mr Assad denied he was responsible for the crackdown which had already resulted in thousands of deaths in Syria. The emails show that, after the interview, Miss Jaafari and Walters stayed in close contact.

When Miss Jaafari returned to New York she reached out again to Walters, whom she referred to as her “adopted mother”. In return, Walters called her “dear girl” and sometimes signed off “Hugs, Barbara”.

Shortly afterwards, Walters emailed the young Syrian saying: “I wrote to Piers Morgan and his producer to say how terrific you are and attached your résumé.” She also asked whether Miss Jaafari was still planning on applying to Columbia University and offered to help.

A week later, Walters emailed Richard Wald, a professor at the Columbia School of Journalism and the father of Jonathan Wald, Morgan’s executive producer.

Walters described Miss Jaafari as “brilliant, beautiful, [and] speaks five languages” and asked whether there was “anything you can do to help?” Prof Wald replied that he would get the admissions office to “give her special attention”.

Professor Wald said that he was told Miss Jaafari had not applied and so he did not intervene on her behalf. He added: “I would ask the admissions office to give special attention to anyone with a recommendation from Ms Walters or anyone else in Journalism.”

Miss Jaafari did not ultimately get the internship nor the university place.

Walters was one of only a handful of Americans invited to a private party hosted by the ambassador in March 2011, the same month that the uprising against the Assad regime began. The only other journalist on the guest list was a reporter from Press TV, Iran’s state-owned television channel. She did not attend the event.

[…….]

In a statement, Walters said: “In the aftermath [of the Assad interview], Ms Jaafari returned to the US and contacted me looking for a job. I told her that was a serious conflict of interest and that we would not hire her. I did offer to mention her to contacts at another media organisation and in academia, though she didn’t get a job or into school. In retrospect, I realise that this created a conflict and I regret that.”

Miss Jaafari was part of a young circle of aides who advised Mr Assad to speak to the Western media as evidence of atrocities mounted. When he agreed to the interview with Walters in December, Miss Jaafari wrote a list of talking points advising that the “American psyche can be easily manipulated” if he were to make a limited expression of regret. Miss Jaafari did not respond to phone calls, texts or emails.

Iraqi Sunnis are arming the Syrian rebels

During the Iraq war, Syria allowed Islamic militants to use their territory to join the Sunni insurgency. Now the reverse is occurring. Iraqi Sunnis are crossing into Syria to sell weapons to the Syrian rebels and volunteer as fighters! The Syrian civil war is now spilling into the whole region. This is a good development and once we should stand aside and watch.

FALLUJA, Iraq — Not so long ago, Syrians worked to send weapons and fighters into Iraq to help Sunnis fighting a sectarian conflict; suddenly, it is the other way around.

A belated celebration of the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday on the outskirts of this western Iraqi city on Saturday quickly took on the trappings of a rally for Syria’s rebels. Young boys waved the old green, black and white flag Syria adopted in the 1930s after declaring independence from the French. Others collected money to send aid and weapons to the fighters opposing President Bashar al-Assad’s government across the border.

It is increasingly clear that Syria’s sectarian war is becoming the regional conflict that analysts have long feared. The rush of recent events — including bombings and assassinations in Damascus and Aleppo, and intensifying violence in northern Lebanon coming directly out of the sectarian hostilities in Syria — suggest that the Assad government now also faces antagonists across its borders.

This is just awesome, I want the Islamic Mideast to collapse into utter chaos. Let these savages destroy each other. Humanity will be better off for it. Bashar Assad deserves everything he is getting.

Al-Qaeda declares war on Assad

I love it when Islamists go at it! In this case its the admitted secular regime of Bashar Assad vs. Al-Qaeda. During the Iraq war, Syria played footsie with AL-Qaeda. They allowed AL-Qaeda to establish safe havens and use Syrian territory to attack American soldiers in Iraq. Assad although himself very Secular as a minority Alawite, is allied with 12ther Shiite Iran and Hizballah. Now, an Islamic piss match is beginning in Syria. AL-Qaeda has declared war on the Assad regime and there ar reports, AL-Qaeda fighters are coming in from Iraq!

(AP)  BAGHDAD – Al Qaeda’s chief has called on Muslims from other countries to support rebels in Syria seeking to overthrow President Bashar Assad, saying they cannot depend on the West for help.

Ayman al-Zawahri, in a videotaped statement released late Saturday, asked Muslims in Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey to join the uprising against Assad’s “pernicious, cancerous regime.” All four states border Syria.

A senior Iraqi security official also told the Associated Press on Saturday that intelligence over the last four months has revealed a flow of al Qaeda-linked fighters from the northern Iraqi city of Mosul into Syria.

The comments by both the Iraqi official and al-Zawahri came a day after two suicide car bombers struck security compounds in Aleppo, a Syrian city that had been relatively peaceful throughout the country’s 11-month-uprising. Though there was no claim of responsibility, suicide bombings are a hallmark of al Qaeda.

[….]

The Iraqi official said at least two Syrian suicide bombers who trained in Mosul have crossed the border to join the fight in Syria.

Fighters armed with guns and explosives also have headed from Iraq to Syria, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to publicly discuss intelligence.

I hope they kill each other and Syria collapses into anarchy.
