Calvary Chapel West Maui. From last Sunday also being Mother’s day.

I like Calvary Chapel which is a non-denominational church and has casual dress. I went in shorts a “T”- shirt and flip-flops. Back on the mainland at home, I go to church wearing the same getup.

I cant explain why, but worshiping God outdoors has a very special appeal to me.

And in this place it was just icing on the cake. Back home we had church in the park and I found that very appealing. Maybe its because we are in public and I am not ashamed of what I believe. Or maybe its because I tend to look upward when I worship and God’s natural blue sky is better looking than a drop-ceiling with fluorescent lights?

I met an older couple there on vacation from Oregon, they mentioned that it is too cold in Oregon to do this. That was really cool, although being from an older generation they dressed up for church. I hoped they were not offended by all the shorts, “T” shirts and flip-flops. Even the Pastor wore shorts and a button-down shirt. But for Calvary Chapel that is pretty normal with all the surfing Pastors and such.

Everywhere I look I find beauty in Gods creation. Although this is in a fallen state, I cant imagine what the unfallen state would be like.

Whether you worship God or not or believe in God or not. I hope everyone has a great Sunday and as Wrath reminds us, take some time to appreciate our family, friends and relax a bit.
