Noodle arms update.
That 8 pound dumbbell that was on sale seemed like a good idea when I got it but the first few days were difficult. Doing the arm curl exercise to start. Could not even manage two or three with left arm so only did right arm. That was difficult too!
So first week only did right arm then thought if I keep this up in a year I am going to look like one of those fiddling crab things!
Pushed through the pain and now can do 20 reps both left and right. What I do is do the reps, sitting down at computer chair and during the commercials. Alternating arms. Fucking hate Tubi, a commercial every ten minutes!
No bulky muscles like Popeye yet, but it is getting easier.
Another month of this and I may be able to open a jar of salsa….
Plant update.
Tomatoes are setting fruits. Tiny green bobbles.
Cucumbers finally developed first true leaves.
Bok Choy sprouted then died a miserable death, cold weather crop.
As predicted the garlic after 6 weeks got dug up. No sign of sprouting or rooting. They spray garlic to STOP it sprouting. It just rotted.
If I could be bothered I would try organic garlic.
As to weight, lost four pounds in May. Due to less beer and wine and calorie counting.
Beginning of June I indulged in real bread sandwiches, knocked me out of Ketosis though.
Who can resist Bunny sandwiches!

LOL I need a better way of counting calories and what I eat. I tend to cheat, but not in a real cheating way. What I eat and drink is logged on a midnight to midnight day basis.
6th June 2025 so far is 1665 calories, consisting of 37g fat, 34g protein, and 88g carbs ( that was beefaroni on toast at 1am before bed 23 hours ago )
A good day as my BMR is about 2400 calories.
Now, as to the cheating part. 45 minutes until midnight and a new day on the spreadsheet. Trying not to eat supper yet.
It will be two 1/4 pound burgers, mushrooms, 3 eggs and a couple of slices of buttered toast. Fuck the beefaroni it will keep.
That will go on the 7th June data. Looks like all meals tomorrow will be lettuce. 🙁

I understand that the US buys in tech and then manufactures the tech in country so that the US is never beholden to outside suppliers and supply channels. That is just logical. The US has a very large economy and can manufacture enmass easily. Just don’t screw other nation states in the process by totally shutting down R&D of target companies. Especially so when these companies reside in ‘allied’ nations. That predatory attitude is great in the short term for American production and US workers but this predatory attitude totally screws up your allies’ tech advancement and ongoing R&D in the future.
Maybe purchase 51% of a target company, but leave the US allied nation its R&D capability and ability to co-manufacture. Rather than buy and strip out not only the tech but destroy the R&D capability that allows a foreign company the capability to both manufacture for the allied nation and allow R&D to advance.
Predatory capitalism that believes only in a 3 monthly profit calculation, is great in the short term but ends up paupering allied nations when it comes to tech R&D. The NZ Rocket Labs case is typical. Buy the company when it is is in the growth phase, is fast to change development R&D schedules, but is capital poor. Given that the US was the major customer destination for the Aota I and II and especially the Electron light orbital rocket , that had world class tech capability in carbon forming thanks to world class carbon fibre fabrication tech from local racing boat manufacture industry.
The US has a massive market. The US has industrial scale. US corporates tend to get huge growth, fast.
BUT with that growth US corporates slow down when it comes to Corporate change and new tech R&D. Fortunately Rocket Labs USA allowed Rocket Labs NZ to co-exist and diversify into satellite R&D and new tech because Rocket Labs NZ is still small, lean and skilled when it comes to change tech R&D.. It’s also now cashed up which allows fast development and ‘change research’. Rocket Labs DOESN’t want to be a leviathan because that may make profits in the short term but that comes a cost, when it comes to fast change R&D.
Well done Rocket Labs USA as you didn’t go the usual track of ruining a corporate idea, by losing the capability to change fast and’ innovate smart’.
The obverse to being smart is for the US Federal government to legislate to force customers to eat rubbish home grown food manufactured by massive sluggish corporates tangled in red tape and hidden subsidies. That keeps Corporate HQ making shit food for a home market, rather than using a smart tech foreign manufacturer tech to product quality food that costs what the US consumer pays for subsidised garbage food.
Allow lean, grass fed, free range Aussie beef, and Kiwi Lamb and hi-tech woollen products and high end food.

As an example, tonight supper is Tacos, my way.
Made in a small batch or I am eating it for days. First take 1/4 pound of 80/20 ground beef, brown it with about 1/4 ounce of coconut oil and then add half an onion. Cook on low until the onion softens slightly then add 1/3 packet of McCormick taco seasoning and 1/3 cup of water and bring to a boil in the skillet. Then simmer on low for 15 mins and after that let it cool and the flavours mingle.
To be served on two smallish Peruvian baked potatoes and topped with sharp cheddar with a side of sour cream and salsa. ( medium and chunky )

The reason I use 1/3 of a packet per time I use it is the opened packet lives in the fridge. Been in there months and still some left.
As to salt/sodium I still think American food is too salty. And other things too sweet ( baked beans ) even after 27 years.

There was a guy living in the Cheddar Gorge and he may or may NOT have been a cheese maker however that was 9,000 ago and as far as I know he’s been out of business for the last 8,990 years. His cave was dampened and musty anyway and the Cheese kept growing a beard and the locals refused to buy any of Cheddar Man’s produce. I paid him a visit about 30 years ago and he was looking more than a bit the worse for wear. He was just skin and bone but without the skin!

As a person adapted to living in a technologically advanced country but a third rate country in regards to fine food I get by.
An example, when I desire a simple cheese sandwich made with fresh crusty bread I can get the bread. Walmart does a first rate fresh baked Italian loaf. It is not full of preservatives as if you keep it longer than three days it goes moldy. I keep it in the freezer.
As to the cheese, I adapted. A light smear of horse radish on the slice of American ” extra sharp Cheddar ” kind of makes the real cheese sandwich more authentic as to English taste.

From what I remember from over 20 years ago some locals came into a bar that I spent four nights a week in. They said they were in the Iowa National Guard and they were being deployed. Overseas shit was heating up, Afghanistan etc. So, free drinks!
After first free round they started laughing. They were being deployed to a regular army base about 200 miles away as the base was being deployed overseas.

This is wrong. Horses have a place in current law enforcement. Well in the UK and in the past. Horses offer a higher vantage point for the riders, but in the era of drones not required.
Also in the UK horses were useful for crowd control as they were trained to walk sideways and push people out of the way. People not carrying weapons or tear gas spray.
Fitting a horse with face shield and a gas mask? Unacceptable unless they are allowed to let the horses kick the shit out of rioters.

The carbohydrates that appear in shredded cheese are from either, potato starch, Tapioca, cornstarch or something called lignin. Lignin is aka sawdust.
They are added to stop the shreds sticking together and clumping.
