Bob Costas’ rant on Sunday Night Football irritated many Americans. In my case I had stayed away from political stories for two days. Then while I was enjoying my beer and eating some Cajun style wings, I saw Costas pushing for gun control. I don’t recall him pushing to ban knives, when his buddy O.J. Simpson was involved ( I don’t think he did it alone) in the murder of his wife Nicole Simpson.

Bob Costas was reading an article by Fox Sports analyst Jason Whitlock that calls for banning handguns. Whitlock also has called the NRA, the modern day KKK. Bob Costas appeared on this clown’s podcast and justified his rant by blaming “gun culture” for the death of Jovan Belcher and his girlfriend .

NBC’s Bob Costas on Monday appeared on Foxsports.com columnist Jason Whitlock‘s podcast, “Real Talk,” to explain why he advocated for gun control during the halftime show of the nationally televised Sunday night NFL game.

During the game, Costas quoted Whitlock’s editorial, which stated that former Kansas City chiefs player Jovan Belcher and his girlfriend would still be alive if Jovan did not own a handgun.

[….]

The NBC analyst said his remarks have been unfairly and hypocritically attacked by gun-rights advocates.

“And I’ve always found this to be true: If someone disagrees with what you write, then they’ll say what you wrote was a ‘screed,’” Costas continued. “But someone who agrees with it say it was a ‘thoughtful commentary.’ If they disagree with what you say on television, they’ll term it a ‘rant.’

[….]

“There are too many people in this country leaving home carrying a gun as if it’s the same thing as ‘don’t forget my wallet,’ ‘don’t forget my watch,’ ‘don’t forget my gun,’” Costas said. “And more often than not, this leads to bad things far more often than it leads to good things.”

What Bob Costas doesn’t understand is that people watch him not for his political views, but for sports analysis. But Costas having a big ego, doesn’t get it. Just like Keith Olbermann and Mike Lupica, Costas doesn’t understand that once you make a political statement, your audience never views you the same. As for Jason Whitlock, he is an ignorant fool not worthy of even a sentence.

Venezuela bans gun ownership

The right to bear arms is the cornerstone of a free society. Totalitarian regimes throughout history ban private arms ownership. The Bolivarian Progressive regime of Venezuela ha now banned gun ownership. This means only Hugo Chavez’s cronies will have the guns.

Venezuela has brought a new gun law into effect which bans the commercial sale of firearms and ammunition.

Until now, anyone with a gun permit could buy arms from a private company.

Under the new law, only the army, police and certain groups like security companies will be able to buy arms from the state-owned weapons manufacturer and importer.

The ban is the latest attempt by the government to improve security and cut crime ahead of elections in October

Venezuela saw more than 18,000 murders last year and the capital, Caracas, is thought to be one of the most dangerous cities in Latin America.

You can bet most of those 18,000 murders where committed by supporters of Hugo Chavez. This is just a way for the Bolivarians to solidify their control over Venezuela. Don’t think it can’t happen here. The Right to bear Arms is crucial to our freedoms.

Mayor Bloomberg pushes for Gun Control

Gun Control is an issue the Progressives keep under the radar. Feeling cocky about this year’s elections, they are starting to let the cat out the bag. NYC Mayor Mike Bloomberg is launching a nationwide push for  gun control.Bloomberg is a Nany state Totalitarioan and feels the elite should control the masses. He wants citizens to be disarmed, so they can be controlled.

(Reuters) – Among the slick, million-dollar ads for the likes of Pepsi and Honda during the Super Bowl this Sunday, viewers in Washington will see a far more modest spot. New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino will be sitting on a couch touting an issue most politicians avoid like the plague: gun control. The two mayors, whose local teams face off in the big game, are making the pitch for Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG), the organization they co-founded in 2006.

Bloomberg is a dangerous man. He’s an elitist who wants control.

If you think a Second Obama Term won’t be that bad…

Read this:

Obama administration officials are deliberately keeping gun owners in the dark about the president’s gun-control agenda as we head into next year’s national election, because administration officials know that when NRA members and gun owners show up at the polls en masse, anti-gun candidates lose.

The Obama campaign’s strategy goes like this:
1.Neutralize gun owners and NRA members as a political force in the upcoming national election by pretending to be pro-gun or at least not focused on pushing a gun-control agenda;
2.With gun owners neutralized, Obama will be able to win the election. After the president is re-elected, he won’t have to answer to voters because he won’t have to face another re-election battle;
3.Launch a full-scale, all-out assault to rip the Second Amendment out of the Bill of Rights through legislation, litigation, regulation, executive orders and international treaties — in short, every lever of power at the administration’s disposal.

Barack Obama spent his entire political career proudly and publicly pushing for the most radical anti-gun positions you can imagine. He endorsed a total ban on the manufacture, sale and possession of handguns. He opposed right-to-carry laws. He voted to ban nearly all commonly used hunting-rifle ammunition.

During the presidential primary debates, Obama even vowed to re-impose the discredited Clinton gun ban, which banned many commonly owned firearms used for hunting and self-defense.

As they say, read the whole thing. He makes a pretty good case. Mittens is bad on gun control. Make no mistake about that, but he isn’t a zealot for it. A conservative House and Senate can hold him in check on the issue. They may not be able to restrain an Obama who doesn’t care about re-election. Then there is this from scholar John Lott:

President Obama keeps pushing for gun control. “I just want you to know that we are working on [gun control]. We have to go through a few processes, but under the radar,” President Obama told Sarah Brady, the former president of the Brady Campaign, this past spring.

His push as been quiet but relentless.

Just this past week Obama signaled that he was going to just ignore two new parts of the 2012 Omnibus Spending bill. Although he signed the spending bill into law, he simultaneously issued a so-called “signing statement,” a note that presidents have started attaching to legislation stating how they interpret the law they are signing or whether they believe part of it is unconstitutional.

Obama’s statement claimed that Congress couldn’t put restrictions on how he wanted to spend to fund lobbying for gun control and the National Institute of Health studies of gun control.

But why should the federal government use taxpayer dollars to pay for lobbying?

Obama is trying to accreate to himself the power of Judicial Review. This is more than a threat to firearms rights. It is a massive breach in Separation of Powers, as he is trying to Steal the power of the Judiciary for the Office of the President. As a putative Constitutional scholar (he played one for the University, you may remember), he surely knows the damage that this can do the Judiciary. After all, the Judiciary has already ruled the Line-Item Veto unconstitutional. Here, Obama wants a Line-ItemVeto on everything, not just spending. Unconstitutional (anti-Constitutional, even) in his first term, a Second Term Obama will have no effective check on his overweening lust for power unless the Judiciary and the Congress bands together to put paid to his recklessness. We should not put the Country in that position, even if that means a President Mittens. That said, I don’t think Mittens can win, for the many reasons that I have repeatedly stated. Obama will be a formidible opponent, and Mittens can’t even win loyal Republican votes.

If elected to a second term, Obama will end up appointing over half the federal judges. That sure can make a big difference.

Vote as if your freedom depended uon it. Because it most assuredly does.
