The Totalitarian Progressive Tyrant of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez, is stoking tensions on our southern flank. Chavez is now claiming that the US and Colombia are getting ready to invade Venezuela. In a paranoid act, he is preparing Venezuelan arm forces for war. This is not something to laugh at. Our southern flank is vulnerable as our attention is focused on other parts of the world. Chavez knows this and is taking advantage of the situation.
Nov. 8 (Bloomberg) — Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez told the military and civil militias today to prepare for war as a deterrent to a U.S.-led attack after American troops gained access to military bases in neighboring Colombia.
Chavez said a recently signed agreement that gives American troops access to seven Colombian bases is a direct threat to his oil-exporting country. Colombia has handed over its sovereignty to the U.S. with the deal, he said.
“Generals of the armed forces, the best way to avoid a war is to prepare for one,” Chavez said in comments on state television during his weekly “Alo Presidente” program. “Colombia handed over their country and is now another state of the union. Don’t make the mistake of attacking: Venezuela is willing to do anything.”

Hugo Chavez knows that Obama is not planning to start a war with him. Obama is a Progressive like he is and in fact Chavez has praised Obama in the past. This threat of war is being done as a power play to show Latin America that the US is a paper tiger and the the Latin nations should ally with Venezuela. Obama would do nothing to help Colombia in a future war with Venezuela. Hugo Chavez is aware of this which is why he is being bold. He also knows that Obama sympathizes with his world view and not that of Colombia President Alvaro Uribe.
Hugo Chavez is a danger to America and we need to realize this. America needs to focus on own hemisphere. A menace is rising south of the border and we must confront it before its too late.
