Mere hours away, the most awesome annual street party kicks in full bore. I was fortunate to attend Mardi Gras in 1989 in New Orleans. What a hoot. Great bands, lotsa parades, exposed breasts, afternoon beer, people fighting over little plastic tokens and climbing trees to get cheap plastic necklaces, numerous offers to buy ersatz drugs, puking in the streets, etc.
