The GOP should be aggressive

Good morning Blogmocracy Netizens! I hope you’re off to a great day and may it be fruitful and enriching.

The Republicans were elected in the 2010 election to enact reforms to make America economically competitive again. The American dream is dying as upward mobility and good jobs are becoming a thing of the past that belonged to America’s golden age (1945-2000). The voters want bold action on the fiscal and economic front. However it seems the GOP is reverting back to their old ways. There is talk of bi-partisanship, which means GOP surrender to Tranzi Progressive Democratic demands. Paul Ryan’s road map is now being discarded and there’s even talk of mixed seating at the State of the Union speech. In short, the Republicans are poised to sell out Conservatives again to please the leftists establishment.

What should the congressional GOP’s policy objectives be for the next two years regarding federal deficits and prosperity?

Two very different strategies are being considered by authentic conservatives: 1) attempt to govern from their majority in the House and actually try to start the process of reducing the costs of entitlements (most conspicuously Social Security and Medicare) as a path back to prosperity and good jobs; or 2) recognize that the GOP cannot govern without holding the White House, and that, therefore, they should not touch entitlements but merely tinker with discretionary spending and frame the issues for 2012 when they may win the presidency and Senate, as well as hold the majority in the House.

I believe we should follow the first option. The second strategy was championed by, among others, the Wall Street Journal (the esteemed wheelhouse of modern journalistic conservatism) in a Jan. 4 editorial headlined “The GOP Opportunity: The main Republican task will be framing the issues for 2012.”

The longer economic stagnation continues, the more use to it Americans will get. This will allow Obama and the media to claim this is as good as it gets. The goal of the Democrats is to take the economy off the table as an issue. Instead, they want it to be about Obama as national savior. If the GOP does not attempt to make the needed fiscal, economic, tax and regulatory reforms needed to restore economic opportunity to America, Obama will eat their lunch in 2012 as he did during the lame duck session.

This is the Republican party’s last chance. For too long they have made promises of small government when under the last Republican they expanded it a rate not seen since the administration of LBJ. To cover up their Progressive policies, they enact useless tax cuts and talk about family values to keep Conservatives in line. Meanwhile wages decline, good jobs disappear and upward mobility is gone. It’s a trick and pony show and if they don’t come through with what they promise, they will go the way of the Whigs.

The Republicans must be serious about tax and regulatory reform. This will force Obama to defend the current stagnant state of the economy, which the vast majority of Americans are not benefiting from. The GOP needs to be aggressive and not passive.

NY Times justifying high unemployment during the Obama Boom

In the 2000’s when 150,000 jobs a month were created, the Progressive media called it stagnant job growth. They would compare Bush’s record to Clinton and use it as a club. The truth is that due to the nature of the global economy, America is uncompetitive because of its tax and regulatory structure. We have a 20th century model competing in a 21st century economy. The result has been declining wages and living standards for Americans since 2001. Yet the media blamed the Bush tax cuts for this decline and convinced Americans that Conservative policies failed, never mind that Bush was no economic Conservative. Now that Barack Hussein Obama is president, the media is saying that low job growth and high unemployment is normal.

With the release of the December jobs report, employment now officially sits at 9.4 percent and over half of those people have been out of work for over six months. That’s the highest long term unemployment rate since World War II. On top of that, more than 12 million people would like to be employed in full-time jobs but have either given up looking or can only find part-time work.

Yet despite the employment situation, the United States economy continues to recover. Consumer spending is up and investment and corporate profits are doing fine. So how is it possible that by some indications we are currently living in the worst economic conditions since the early 20th century, and by other measures we are living in the most economically productive time in all of history?

That’s right, things are as good as they are going to get. This will be the theme of Obama’s 2012 campaign. He will claim things are the best they can be and will run on his personality. He will use the Tuscon shooting to remind people of his healing abilities and will make it a personality contest. None of the GOP hopefuls like Romney, Palin, Huckabee or Gingrich have any new ideas to restore economic hope and opportunity for Americans. Instead they will push family values and just the mantra of less government to try to beat Obama. This will not work as Obama will make it about him and thus win.

This paragraph from the NY Times article shows the dishonesty of Progressives by smoothing over bad times.

The problem is not over for the persistently unemployed workers, and it’s hard to forecast how long it will take to return to a much lower unemployment rate. Still, U.S. labor markets are relatively free, training opportunities are numerous, and America has not ceased to be a land of opportunity. The current discomfort is not a death rattle, but we do need to learn to live with the growing pains.

Can you imagine them saying this is a Republican was President?

Update: The media’s lies of an Obama Boom and his new message of national healer is working. His approval rating is back upamong various polls. The GOP’s surrender in the lame duck session and their lack of aggression is making Obama look strong. The Progressive propaganda is working and unless the GOP gets serious about economic reforms, Obama will be re-elected in 2012.

Obama Boom produces 103,000 jobs in December

The greatest job market since 1999 continues to produce great paying jobs and raise the standard of living for all Americans. The Obama Boom which is considered the greatest economic miracle in human history, has reduced our unemployment rate from 9.8% to 9.4%! Clearly as things are looking great economically as some media outlets are claiming!

Overall, the economy rounded out 2010 with 1.1 million jobs added, the best yeah for hiring since 2007. And job growth is still trending upward, albeit very slowly, with an average of 128,000 a month jobs added in the last quarter of the year.

“The message here is, we are seeing improvement, and it’s a report that hints at more future strength,” said economist Robert Brusca of FAO Economics. “The glass may only be half full, but it is at least half full.”

This is an admission by the media and Progressive elites, they wish things were good. The reality we are living in a stagnant almost 3rd World like economy. Wages are declining and most new jobs are service jobs that don’t pay well. The only reason unemployment went down, was because people dropped out of the labor market. The media is trying to hide this fact and sell the jobs number as good.

WASHINGTON—The U.S. economy added fewer jobs than expected and more Americans dropped out of the work force in December, signs that employers are still slow to hire 19 months after the recession’s end.

Nonfarm payrolls rose by 103,000 last month as private-sector employers added 113,000 jobs, the Labor Department said Friday. The November number was revised up to show an increase of 71,000 jobs from a previous estimate of 39,000.

“The good news in this report is that December caps off an entire year of job gains in the private sector,” said Heidi Shierholz, economist at the Economic Policy Institute, a union-backed think tank. “The bad news is that, three full years after the recession officially began, we are still near the bottom of a deep crater.”

“The big decline in the jobless rate to 9.4% from 9.8% was due to a third consecutive decrease in the labor force, again not a sign that people are seeing their job prospects increase,” said Steven Ricchiuto, chief economist at Mizuho Securities.

America is the economic sick man of the global economy. Unless we stop borrowing money, end unneeded military commitments abroad and engage in massive tax and regulatory reform, we will continue to have a stagnant economy. The Progressive media will be pushing this Obama Boom theme hard. This is to create a perception that things are good to have him re-elected. When during the Bush era we had sub standard job growth 125,000-150,000 compared with other expansions, the media said the economy was bad. This created a perception that thinks were bad, even when it was OK and stable. Now that it’s Obama, 100,000 jobs a month will be called great growth. There is no Obama Boom but in the imagination of the Progressives. The problem is too many Americans may buy into this lie.

Europe today could be America in the future

For too long Europe has had an easy ride. Rather than pay for their own defense, they have leeched off the Unites States and always criticize us when we use force. They are the first to insult America yet expect us to defend them. Those days are coming to an end as Americans are tired of war and being the world’s policeman. While Americans die, Europeans party and live the good life. Well now Europe is running out of money and it’s time to pay the bills. The US is not far off from this situation as states like California and New York show. The media is hyping this Obama Boom as the best economy since the 90’s and that things are good again. This is a lie since the US is accumulating debt at an unprecedented level. What we see happening in Europe, could be our future.

I Have seen the future, and it doesn’t work.

Don’t get me wrong: New Year’s in beautiful Barcelona was a blast. Spain is a great vacation spot, with good food and gorgeous women — but nobody seems to be working outside the tourist areas.

The reason is pretty simple: The Bernie Madoff-like Ponzi scheme of big government has been squeezing the productive class and redistributing its tax dollars and innovation to everyone else for years — and is finally reaching its boiling point.

And the way things are going, we’re probably not far behind.

Unless we get our fiscal house in order, these so called great times are an illusion.
