Looks like it was kinda windy that day. From the Wikiness:

On August 25, 1927, while tethered at the Lakehurst high mast, a gust of wind caught the tail of the Los Angeles and lifted it into colder, denser air that was just above the airship. This caused the tail to lift higher. The crew on board tried to compensate by climbing up the keel toward the rising tail, but could not stop the ship from reaching an angle of 85 degrees, before it finally descended. Amazingly, the ship suffered only slight damage and was able to fly the next day.

Hard to imagine that these death balloons were capable of transatlantic flight. Even harder is trying to imagine how to segue into The Overnight Open Thread.

I’d consider watching TV again if this kinda stuff was on. Instead, I listen to The Blogmocracy Radio, get coerced to calling in,  and completely forget that I need to put up a last-minute post for The Overnight Open Thread.

That .gif animation is both disturbing and fascinating to me at the same time. I’m not sure what it all means, so put on your zen hats everybody, and we’ll unlock more secrets of the universe on this episode of The Overnight Open Thread.

That’s right, Blogmockers. Tomorrow is International Weigh Your Lemur Day, so get out your graph paper and tally sheets, line ’em up and set ’em down. If you use a digital scale be sure to cover it properly so that the inevitable little lemur leaks don’t damage the expensive electronics.

I can’t remember how many (supposedly) waterproof scales I’ve had to return over the years. It always ends in an argument with the salesperson, right up until I drop the bombshell:

“Look. This scale can’t even sustain a bladder full of lemur piss. I’ll show you. Wait here for a minute.”

Now, I don’t own a lemur, nor do I have a bladder of lemur piss to produce at a moment’s notice, but you’d be surprised at how fast you can get a damaged waterproof scale replaced with that simple browbeating argument.

And speaking of digital scales damaged by lemur piss, it’s time for The Overnight Open Thread.
