Palin-Hatred Reaching Rabid Level

The media keep yammering on about John McCain and Sarah Palin’s imagined “subtle racism,” yet they don’t write a word about the ugly, in-your-face demonization and hatred you can easily find everywhere Obama supporters hang out. This morning’s example: A Truly Frightening Prospect.

AP’s Puff Piece on Louis Farrakhan

Here’s a very sympathetic article from the Associated Press about one of the most hateful figures on the American scene: Farrakhan says ‘new beginning’ for Nation of Islam.

CHICAGO – The Nation of Islam, a secretive movement generally closed to outsiders, has planned a rare open-to-the public event at its Chicago-based headquarters in what the Minister Louis Farrakhan deemed a “new beginning” for the group.

Hundreds of religious leaders of different faiths have been invited to the event planned for Sunday, a rededication of the group’s historic Mosque Maryam on the city’s South Side. Farrakhan is scheduled to speak.

“We have restored Mosque Maryam completely, and we will dedicate it to the universal message of Islam, and the universal aspect of the teachings of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad,” Farrakhan said in an invitation letter. “It represents for the Nation of Islam, a new beginning.” …

“It is a very conscious effort to open the mosque up to the community and to rededicate the community to learning about Islam,” said Aminah McCloud, a professor of Islamic studies at DePaul University. “Previously, the Nation has been open to people coming to visit it, but its members don’t generally go anywhere else … now there is a concerted effort.”

Here’s how AP writer Sophia Tareen describes Farrakhan’s notoriously virulent antisemitism:

In February, Farrakhan appeared at an annual Saviours’ Day event in Chicago and called Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama the “hope of the entire world” that the U.S. will change for the better. The Obama campaign quickly denounced Farrakhan’s support, because of past comments about Jews that many have called offensive.

Interesting how the Associated Press presumes to speak for the Obama campaign.

Jake Tapper’s Casual Smear of the Day

Jake Tapper at ABC News says “conservative blogs were all atwitter” about that silly rumor that Michelle Obama called an African media organization and ranted about racism.

The conservative blogs are all atwitter about a bizarre interview allegedly with Michelle Obama on a Web site called “African Press International.”

No, Jake. Conservative blogs were not “all atwitter.” At LGF we said the story was bunk in no uncertain terms.

The idea that conservative blogs universally accepted this bogus report is nothing but a smear, and it’s par for the course for the incredibly biased mainstream media. Some blogs may have taken the story at face value, but most did not.

Reporting it this way is sloppy and dishonest; it’s intended to portray the center right blogosphere as a monolithic group of lock-step morons, dumbly swallowing every rumor that comes out. And that description is much better applied to places like Daily Kos and Huffington Post.

Shiny Happy Communists

The Communist Party USA likes the direction in which America is headed: US communists say their time has come.

NEW YORK (AFP) — A rare bird in the political world, the US Communist Party is feeling rather smug in these days of capitalist turmoil.

At the party’s New York headquarters on 23rd Street in Manhattan, regional party chairman Libero Della Piana, 36, laid out why he thinks Marxist-Leninism’s time has finally come. “We are very excited, we feel that we are at a turning point,” Della Piana, an imposing half-Italian, half-African American with a pony tail, told AFP.

“We can afford to be less on the defensive for the first time since Ronald Reagan, and we can say our word in rebuilding America on a new basis, rebuilding a better world, instead of one based on the greed of the few.” …

Communist youth coordinator Erica Smiley, 28, said “the major issues for the young are: peace, jobs, health care, education, and we provide them with answers.” …

But few people were about during a visit by AFP on Monday and the atmosphere was collegial and slightly sleepy, rather than revolutionary. “They are all out working to get people to vote,” explained Bill Davis, 65, who has been a faithful member for 37 years.

There is no communist running for the White House and the Communist Party does not endorse Democrat Barack Obama. Yet many staff here wore his picture on lapel buttons, while Republican John McCain was relegated to a box of tissues — the tissues being pulled through his mouth.

Agence France Presse says the Communist Party doesn’t endorse Barack Obama, but that’s just the media covering for him again. Because they do endorse Obama.
