The Polling News Just Keeps Getting Worse and Worse for the Dems

On the heels of Rasmussen’s daily tracking poll that shows Obama’s national approval rating going down the drain fast , other polls showing him tanking in Ohio and Virginia, and yet another poll showing that the GOP is maintaining a lead on the generic congressional ballot, is this month’s voter trust poll, also from Rasmussen.  The Republicans now lead the Dems on 8 out of 10 issues, up from the six they led in last month.

Voters now trust Republicans more than Democrats on eight out of 10 key electoral issues, including, for the second straight month, the top issue of the economy. They’ve also narrowed the gap on the remaining two issues, the traditionally Democratic strong suits of health care and education.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that voters trust the GOP more on economic issues 46% to 41%, showing little change from the six-point lead the party held last month. This is just the second time in over two years of polling the GOP has held the advantage on economic issues. The parties were close on the issue in May, with the Democrats holding a one-point lead.

Voters not affiliated with either party trust Republicans more to handle the economy by a 46% to 32% margin.

Last week’s report of 9.5 percent unemployment, the highest since 1983, raised doubts about the economy and the president’s handling of it. Consumer and investor confidence is now down to the lowest levels in three months. Just 39% now say President Obama is doing a good or an excellent job on the economy while 43% rate his performance as poor. Those are by far the weakest numbers yet for the president.

For those interested, here are the specifics:

I would bring the readers attention, again, to the abortion number.  Republicans now enjoy a 46%-39% lead, way up from last month’s 40%-40% tie.  Looks like the non-stop smear effort by the MSM against pro-lifers and the GOP about George Tiller backfired in a major way.

The American people seem to be developing a buyer’s remorse for Obama that is worse than the buyer’s remorse I have for the used Saturn Ion I bought earlier this year.

Obama Continues to Drop in the Polls

Interesting news….Obama has dropped into negative territory for the first time in Rasmussen’s Strongly Support – Strongly Oppose daily tracking poll

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Sunday shows that 32% of the nation’s voters now Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Thirty-four percent (34%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -2. That’s the President’s lowest rating to date and the first time the Presidential Approval Index has fallen below zero for Obama (see trends).

Sixty percent (60%) of Democrats Strongly Approve of the President’s performance but only 8% of Republicans share that view. Sixty-one percent (61%) of Republicans Strongly Disapprove.

Check out our weekly review of key polls to see “What They Told Us.

The Presidential Approval Index is calculated by subtracting the number who Strongly Disapprove from the number who Strongly Approve. It is updated daily at 9:30 a.m. Eastern (sign up for free daily e-mail update). Updates also available on Twitter.

Overall, 53% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President’s performance so far. Forty-six percent (46%) disapprove. For more Presidential barometers, see Obama By the Numbers and recent demographic highlights.

Obama is rapidly approaching major political vulnerability territory.  For the first time, Rasmussen’s measure of political polarity has gone south on Obama.  More people in this country now strongly dislike him than strongly like him.  Based on the previous trending, it looks like this is because his support is beginning to cool off – strongly disapprove numbers are steady, but strongly approve numbers seem to be dropping slowly but surely.  And his total overall approval in this poll, which is also dropping (and Rasmussen is one of the most accurate there is), is 53%?  If I were a Democrat, the dogs would be smelling the stink of fear in my cold, cold sweat right about now.

Despite all of the hooplah about his “high approval ratings”, he is actually well below where most recent Presidents have been at five months into their first terms.  Typically, if a President is this low after a mere five months in office, you can more accurately describe his “first term” as his “only term.”

Rasmussen Says Republicans Rebounding on the Issues

Good news for the Republicans – Voters now trust them more than the Democrats on six out of ten issues on the monthly Trust on Issues tracking poll.

Voters now trust Republicans more than Democrats on six out of 10 key issues, including the top issue of the economy.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 45% now trust the GOP more to handle economic issues, while 39% trust Democrats more.

This is the first time in over two years of polling that the GOP has held the advantage on this issue. The parties were close in May, with the Democrats holding a modest 44% to 43% edge. The latest survey was taken just after General Motors announced it was going into bankruptcy as part of a deal brokered by the Obama administration that gives the government majority ownership of the failing automaker.

Voters not affiliated with either party now trust the GOP more to handle economic issues by a two-to-one margin.

Separate Rasmussen tracking shows that the economy remains the top issue among voters in terms of importance.

According to the survey, Americans now trust the GOP over the Dems by margins of 51%-36% on national security, 45%-37% on Iraq, 45%-39% on the economy, 44%-39% on taxes, and 35%-29% on government ethics (notice, though, the apparent high percentage of “undecideds” on that one!)

The Dems still hold advantages on the issues of health care, education, and social security.  However, it’s interesting to note in comparing last months’ tracking poll, that the Republicans have actually narrowed the gaps – substantially – on those three issues as well.

Also interesting?    There was no movement on which Party voters trust on the issue of abortion – it was 41%-41% both months.  Now, let’s keep in mind that June’s poll was taken between June 3 and June 6, right when the media’s “all pro-lifers are culpable for George Tiller’s murder” frenzy was reaching its peak.  Yet, it looks like it had NO EFFECT WHATSOEVER on people’s views of this issue with respect to the Parties, despite the Left’s best efforts to give conservatives and Republicans a black eye about it.

This report should shock no one. They say the Muslim public disagrees with Al Qaeda’s Terror tactocs, but agrees with its goals.

Muslim Publics Oppose Al Qaeda’s Terrorism, But Agree With Its Goal of Driving US Forces Out

A study of public opinion in predominantly Muslim countries reveals that very large majorities continue to renounce the use of attacks on civilians as a means of pursuing political goals. At the same time large majorities agree with al Qaeda’s goal of pushing the United States to remove its military forces from all Muslim countries and substantial numbers, in some cases majorities, approve of attacks on US troops in Muslim countries.
