“3 chords, 2 minutes, no bullshit.”

Top comment on that UToobage vid:

3 chords, 2 minutes, no bullshit 🙂

Commercial music sucked big green donkey Johnsons in the 70s, with way too much over-produced garbage IMO (think ELP). In 1977 a showcase “Rockumentary” called Live at CBGB was making the college circuit. The Ramones got my attention for the same reason that the Utoob commenter stated; they were paying respect to early rock and roll. They weren’t smug, and didn’t play to each other – they played OUT.

The second UToobage comment addressed the action just after 1:00. THAT describes my mental state these days, except when I post something especially for all loyal Blogmockrateers on The Overnight Open Thread.

It’s A Hot Curvy Girl With Tatts On Stand-Up Bass Singing Lead Kind Of Sunday Night

Any band named HorrorPops gets my vote. There’s something inherently cool about a mashup between punk, psychobilly, hotrods and Denmark. Besides, they got a hot curvy girl with tatts on stand-up bass singing lead.

And speaking of hot curvy girls with tatts on stand-up bass singing lead, it’s time for a hot curvy stand-up edition of The Overnight Open Thread.

There are a couple of things right with that photo, but there are a lot of things wrong; the former made me smirk while the latter made me cringe (suck it in, Johnny Wannabe). BTW, Johnny Ramone became a Republican when he discovered that his relatives voted for JFK based on Kennedy’s good looks alone.

As THE  seminal punk band of the 70s, The Ramones brought 3-chord garage band rock n’ roll back to the forefront of pop music, a venue that was overrun with over-produced country-rock, electronic theatrical garbage and big-hair-glam-rock bands.

While most of the country was oohing and aahing to The Eagles and Bruce Stringbean, ELO and EL&P,  and um, ah *puke* Disco) these guys were kicking the gong at CBGBs, an obscure bar in NYC’s skid row, known as  The Bowery.

Meanwhile the TV Trash pundits are guffawing that Eric Clapton went to a laundromat to –get this– wash his clothes. I really don’t know where I’m going with this babblethread. Kinda lost my train of thought, but don’t worry, we’re not derailed, because rolling on down the line comes the Big Ugly Wheels of The Overnight Open Thread.

Gabba Gabba WTF?

Nope. That’s not photochoppery as originally suspected, and here’s proof:

As drummer for the seminal punk band The Ramones, surviving member Marky Ramone is enhancing his portfolio by marketing Marky Sauce. It’s the loudest, fastest and most awesome pasta sauce you’ll ever see in your lifetime, and it comes with a free plastic spoon so you can enjoy it right out of the jar during an Overnight Open Thread.
