Government by professors

The late William F. Buckley once said that he would rather be governed by the first 100 names in the Cambridge phone book then by the faculty of Harvard University. Let us not forget that it was “the best and the brightest” i.e Ivy League University eggheads who got us into Vietnam and who helped create the Wall Street  disasters of the dot com bubble and the subprime meltdown. Give me a common sense president like Harry Truman who experienced first hand hardships any day over a pampered, elitist, such as Barack Obama. Education does not make you wise.

Where professors rule, life is cruel.

That is the bottom line for the average American in this, the transformative age of the president the New York Times and Washington Post has called “Professor” Obama, who “schools” the ignorant at home and abroad. Never before have so many with so little humility gathered together in our government, each believing he “is the smartest guy in the room.”

This is an administration stuffed with academics. And not just any academic: These are educators from elite universities, the kind of experts prized by a political and media elite seeking confirmation of a worldview that expects, notes the Washington Examiner, “the rest of us … to shut up and do as we are told.”

Inside the Beltway, “Harvard know-it-alls” is a prized commodity; outside, its practitioners are largely regarded as “obnoxious and arrogant” in the classroom and “jaw-droppingly incompetent” out of it. Small wonder trust in government has hit a fifty-year low.

Welcome to government by professor. Assorted faculty of Ivy League schools have come together to form an administration with the least real-world and most academic experience of any in modern times, the American Enterprise Institute notes. And so we have a government of scolds, lecturers, and bullies, arrogant academics cheered on by mainstream media when they take a “paddle” to average citizens and taxpayers.

Main Street, say hello to Harvard Drive, Chicago Place, and Berkeley Boulevard. The latter are roads that begin in the elite universities and bring “someone better than you” to power in Washington, D.C. Or so says the dean of the School of Law at the University of California at Berkeley, a card-carrying member of what David Brooks of the New York Times fawningly calls “the educated class.”

It’s okay to be ordinary, a “swiller of beer,” Berkeley Dean Christopher Edley, Jr. says, but it takes a “superior intellect” like that of Barack Obama and his taxpayer-paid faculty, Ivy Leaguers most, to understand the needs of Main Street.

The dean well represents the arrogance of an educated class who sees the ordinary taxpayer as raw material to be shaped by regulations wielded by their intellectual superiors, as one of those superiors — Obama regulatory czar Cass Sunstein — has written.

The Protocols of Chris Matthews

The end result of leftism is anti-Semitism. Chris Matthews (who used to be pro Israel) turning on the Jews was as predictable as the day is long.  When  your “Messiah’s” policies are falling apart – blame the Jews. MSNBC is a despicable cesspool of hatred and Goebbels like propaganda. The husky pony-tailed blogger should take notice that Matthews and Obergruppenfuhrer Pat Buchanan are buddies.

Jews.

Everywhere, there are Jews. They have penetrated the highest ranks of government, control vast swaths of the economy, and bend nations to their demonic will. But not to worry: Chris Matthews is on the case.

The host of “Hardball with Chris Matthews” on radical-left MSNBC has become a modern-day Paul Revere. But instead of the British, he gallops each weekday into a few (very few, with first-quarter ratings down 46% compared to last year) homes and warns the nation of the threat of this international circumcision cult that wants to serve up a heaping helping of world domination along with its bagels and lox.

One if by land, Jew if by sea. Welcome to the world of Chris Matthews. Oy.

As one writer for the radical Nation approvingly put it, Matthews demonstrates “nearly every night” his understanding of the threat posed by “socially- and politically-empowered hawkish Jews” to the United States. Matthews is a protégé of former president Jimmy Carter (notorious for blaming the Jews for everything from his failed presidency to elder abuse) and friend of MSNBC commentator Pat Buchanan, who blames “U.S. Jewry” for such varied perversions as Hillary Clinton and anal sex in Hollywood.

Both are good friends and frequent guests on his show, as is Rep. Jim Moran, the Virginia Democrat who is not shy about sharing his nuanced view of the cause of America’s ills: The Jews did it, the Jews are doing it, and the Jews will continue to do it until stopped. In a public letter in the Beliefnet website owned by the Washington Post, former New York City mayor Ed Koch accused this “good friend” Chris Matthews of peddling “anti-Semitic blood libels.”
Matthews has long used his television platform to spotlight the danger to the United States posed by Israel and American Jews who actively conspire against the country. Call it “The Protocols of Chris Matthews,” or, perhaps, “The Protocols of the Elders of MSNBC.” Rid us of Israel, rid us of Jews, and Pandora will return to its pre-kosher bliss.

[…]

National Review’s Jonah Goldberg has described Matthews’s obsession with Jews as the “staple trope” of someone “who talks about Jews in the [Bush] administration the way Tailgunner Joe talked about Communists in the State Department.” Thomas Lifson, publisher of American Thinker, is more to the point, calling the Matthews description of Israel “nauseating.”

Update – National Security Adviser General James Jones likes to tell anti-Semitic Jokes

I know a funny joke about an unqualified black man who became president. Think the MSM will just laugh that one off if I tell it?

As the Spittle Flies

I still expect Keith  Olbermann to one day do something desperate on live TV (such as exposing himself) and in a fit of psychotic rage – be carried out by security guards and guys in white uniforms. If we really want to “torture” prisoners just strap them into chairs and make them listen to one of Olbermann’s “Speshul Komments”.

Keith Olbermann: As the Spittle Flies

by Stuart Schwartz

“As the Spittle Flies” is nearing the end of its run.

This cable news soap opera — a.k.a. “Countdown With Keith Olbermann” — is alienating viewers as quickly as the angry and demanding diva has pushed away friends, family and colleagues over the course of his tumultuous career.

When will the show end? Hard to tell. But the increasingly wild-eyed Keith is drawing rubberneckers in the same fashion as a six-car crackup beside the interstate. One media columnist observes a “creeping mania” brought on by plunging ratings and terminal jealousy.

According to TV by the Numbers, the foam-at-the-mouth commentator seems determined to do to his audience what a bio-toxin does to a small town in Iowa in the recent hit zombie movie, “The Crazies” — empty the homes. February saw ratings plunge beneath last year by 43% among 25-54 viewers and 29% in total viewership.

[…]

But his audience grew in the same way that his 24-year-old girlfriend moved into his Trump Palace apartment for love, not the six-figure salary and on-air slot that NBC provides to every California coed with no experience and party-hearty Internet photos.

But this is the age of new media, and Nielsen ratings are readily available online.  And a simple check of the weeks surrounding those dates show aggregate ratings declines ranging from 10% to almost 20%. NewsBusters took a look at his numbers and concluded that Countdown has been in “free-fall” since Obama’s inauguration.

Katie Couric: Return of the Palin Slayer

I never understood and never will, the attraction that Katie Couric holds for so many people. First off the woman is 53 and is still called “Katie”?  Second – I personally am not into “perkiness”. Third, she is not very bright and belongs more with the Barbara Walters School of “Feelings” Journalism. In fact I expect her one day to be a regular on The View. When she asked Sarah Palin what newspapers she read I wish Sarah would have asked her what newspapers she herself reads. I never could understand why the alphabet networks go for the Couric’s and Diane Sawyer’s to host their evening news while a splendid newsman such as Brit Hume is shunted aside (another reason we should be grateful for having Fox News – they hired him to anchor “Special Report”).

You know they’re worried.

Big government, big media, big Barack — they’re all worried. And they’ve brought in the knight in designer armor, the savior of all that is Washington and New York and Rodeo Drive, privileged and Democratic — Katie Couric.

Katie the Palin Slayer is back.

The CBS Evening News anchor is on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar this month, all progressive chic and mainstream media glitter. And just a week ago, she genuflected before Barack Obama to open the Super Bowl on CBS.

[…]

Neither her eighth cover for the glamor magazine nor the Super Bowl interview are meant to inform. Instead, in concert with the White House, Katie is hitting the “reset” button on a failing presidency. I’m-Katie-Couric-and-I’m-here-to-admire-you. Barack, Nancy, Harry, Rahm — don’t worry, got you covered.

They need Katie and her media platform. The Tea Party is gaining ground, The U.S. Congress and Obama job approval ratings are at historic lows, newspapers — long an arm of the Democratic Party — are failing at a record rate, and the networks — bastions of liberalism — are hemorrhaging viewers.

And — OMG!!! — Sarah Palin is back! Quick, hand me the wooden stakes and call Katie!  Katie Couric isn’t doing journalism; rather (or…Rather), she is 911 for the Obama agenda.  The natives are restless, and who better to call on than Katie the Palin Slayer?

And so Katie has again swung into action. Hail the “conquering Couric,” the Washington Post exults, “a power broker in stiletto heels.” Katie’s back, and as Robert Browning might have written had he been funded by a grant from the Obama administration, “the condom’s back on the banana — all’s right with the world.” (The original line read “God’s in his heaven”; this is Obama safe schools czar Browning, National Endowment for the Humanities poetry.)

Of course, she had no choice. You see, Katie hearts Barack. They are part of what New York Times columnist David Brooks proudly calls the “intellectual class,” a political and media elite that knows what’s best for the rest of us.
