Bach ‘n All

While webmining this evening, I found something a bit different from the usual eclectic stuff that appears on the OOT. More eclectic stuff.

Personally, I’m neither fond of (nor am I a connoisseur of) Classical Music, as the folks who enjoy it are often elite pretentious a-hos in my experience.  On the other hand, I can appreciate the complexity of the compositions and the talent required to perform such works. I don’t have to like it to respect it.

For example, an orchestra can’t perform Ravel’s “Bolero” without a conductor – it’s too difficult a piece; and a retro rock band can’t perform “Surfin’ Bird” without a lead singer. Same difference. The video illustration of Bach’s mathematical and musical genius entertained me.

I guess that makes me an elite pretentious a-ho, too, on
The Overnight Open Thread.

[Update: No offense meant to anyone who actually enjoys classical music. You folks are not the pinky-lifting white-wine-sipping brie-sniffing posers I was referring to as far as you know.]

Those be some bigass eyeball sockets and they belong to Tarsius Pumilus, which in Latin means “little pungent cricket eating bastard with bigass eyeballs.” It’s one of the smallest primates (some lemurs are smaller).

Cute, eh? Here’s my favorite. (You might have to turn the sound up to hear him sing.)

Speaking of little pungent bastards, the BlogMock Rec Room restrooms have some stink bugs, so if you gotta go, turn on the fan and step on anything that moves during The Overnight Open Thread.

“This mysterious video from the British Pathé vaults had very little written down in the canister notes. The video was originally issued on the 22nd November 1937. The ‘Pygmy Princess’ comes out of some plants and does a bizarre dance whilst laughing wildly and speaking in what is presumably her native tongue. The Pathé narrator is very idiosyncratic of that period.” — British Pathé

BTW, last night’s OOT was updated to reflect the current meme, because we take pride in presenting inane internest trends on The Overnight Open Thread.

Looks like they’re dancing to Woolly Bully. Guess which one’s the white guy.

I was going to post a vid of a skanky German band (Die Skaletons) but I like the little boney guy better, rockin’ out on The Overnight Open Thread.
