Sunday Sports Spectacular – NFL Week 2

Jimmy G preparing to make a Vikings defensive player very VERY happy…..

(At least CW didn’t have wait this week).

The first week of the NFL season produced some good games, some blowouts, and the Cleveland Browns eeking out a well-won tie against the mighty team from Pittsburgh. Personally, I think the Steelers just took pity on them at this point. I could be wrong. I have been before.

Saint Jimmy Garapalo of the 49ers found out in his game against the Vikings that things change in the off season when team defensive coordinators finally get some film on you. and can plan accordingly. Three interceptions, Jimmy? However, I don’t think you have to worry yet – get concerned if the York family places a call to the Krapperdick.

Ryan Fitzpatrick turned in a beauty of a game against the Saints, whose defense was looking like they phoned it in. And I’m starting to think the offense was on the other end of the line. Guys – the entire team can’t be Drew Brees and Alvin Kamara on offense – you aren’t out there for window dressing. And if I were the suspended Jameis Winston of Tampa Bay, I’d be concerned about getting my starter job back.

All in all not a bad week. Two asshats from Miami took the knee and were mostly ignored. I’m sure Marshawn Lynch sat his ass on the bench at the Raider game on Monday but at this point, I don’t give a crap what that idiot does.  I’d like him to tell people that he went to STANFORD, however.

As for the week in politics, let me just say that nothing is going to make me happier than voting the smarmy Dianne Feinstein out of office in November. Her lead’s already down to single digits.

So….here are the lineups today and I need to get the Noodle dressed up in her Saints gear for the game. Never too early to teach a child how to handle disappointment…..

The NFL Matchups:
Panthers @ Falcons
Colts @ Redskins
Texans @ Titans
Eagles @ Buccaneers
Chiefs @ Steelers
Dolphins @ Jets
Chargers @ Bills
Vikings @ Packers
Browns @ Saints
Lions @ 49ers
Cardinals @ Rams
Patriots @ Jaguars
Raiders @ Broncos
Giants @ Cowboys

Monday’s Game
Seahawks @ Bears

In the MLB, the season is of course in it’s waning days.  The only team to have clinched a playoff berth is the Red Sox.  But many games today as everyone still in the hunt is in playoff push mode.  Check your local listings or what the hell – if the weather’s good and you have the bucks – GO!

White Sox @ Orioles
Mets @ Red Sox
Blue Jays @ Yankees
Tigers @ Indians
Athletics @ Rays
Marlins @ Phillies
Nationals @ Braves
D-Backs @ Astros
Pirates @ Brewers
Twins @ Royals
Reds @ Cubs
Rockies @ Giants
Mariners @ Angels
Rangers @ Padres
Dodgers @ Cardinals

In NASCAR, the “playoffs” such as it is, will begin this week.  NASCAR has added a second race in Las Vegas and as a fan of that track, can’t tell you how pleased I am to see that there may be a fall option for visiting Sin City.  Only the top 16 drivers will compete for the championship – Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick, Martin Truex Jr., Brad Kesolowski, Clint Boyer, Joey Logano, Kurt Busch, Chase Elliott, Ryan Blaney, Erik Jones, Austin Dillon, Kyle Larson, Denny Hamlin, Aric Almirola, Jimmie Johnson and Alex Bowman.  Lot of new names in that group – the young Turks are coming of age.  Amazing that it was only yesterday that moniker applied to both Busch brothers, Harvick, Kesolowski and Hamlin.  Now they are the grizzled veterans.  Will it work to their advantage?  We’ll see.   Race starts at 3:00 p.m. Eastern.

In the PGA, the PGA Tour Champions are at the Ally Challenge in Warwick Hills, Michigan, which is a Pro-Am, which always brings a nice sense of fun.  Why I have never attended the AT&T Pebble Beach is beyond me…it’s a 3-hour drive from my house along what may be the most beautiful stretch of highway in California – the PCH….

Barbarian, sorry to go off topic, but this is good.
Cynthia Nixon blames her primary loss on , wait for it…………….large voter turnout!
That’s right it was that pesky voting that did her in. She is a wizard in civics.

don’t laugh. That was a 2-parter, the 2nd part is:

and a desire on the part of prime Democratic voters to send a message to [President] Trump for the first time since his election.”

If she’s right – and she may be – it does not bode well for the mid-terms.

no, she’s not stupid. This was timed to hold up the hearings, if not to derail the hearings completely hoping Kavanaugh will cave and stand as a cautionary tale to anyone else Trump may nominate.

You can look thru all the stuff that’s come out today, Zip’s place has it pretty well covered. My take is that she alleges she got shoved down on a bed by a 17 yr old drunk kid and groped when she was 15, until a friend tumbled him off and that’s she’s been traumatized by it her entire life.

And I call bullshit. This is not PTSD territory by a long shot. This is you kick the guy in the balls and go from there, including telling everybody about what a total asshole that guy from Geotwn prep is. Including the guy you marry if you’re so traumatized. Apparently her husband didn’t know until about 2012. This woman is now a shrink of some sort. If she’s truly traumatized, she’s far too fragile to be in that profession counseling other fragile people.

I’ll stipulate that it happened, that it was Kavanaugh who did it and I still say “That’s it? That’s all you got?”

As for Jeff Flake, I like the timing. Well coordinated with the lackwit infant Kristol’s ‘war machine’ to find somebody to run against Trump. A candidate who leaves office because he can’t get re-elected in his own district.

    Effing brilliant.

Nothing but political theater. Maryland, the state where it happened has a 1 year statue of limitation on misdemeanor sex crimes. But more importantly, that crime has to be brought to the police within 300 days of its occurring or Maryland will not even consider prosecution.

Her failure to report it for 35 years means that no crime has been committed according to Maryland State Law.

She was a winner in a blue district that isn’t even running a Republican challenger. So she is going to win the election. 26. 28 | September 17, 2018 9:15 am

This, ladies and gentlemen, was the “script” from the beginning. It’s a rework of Anita Hill. Accuser comes forward at the last minute. Requests anonymity. Then, in dramatic fashion, reveals her identity. Claims to have passed a polygraph. Assuming one she paid for or her attorney paid for.

Okay, let’s play. Ask her if she’s willing to submit to polygraph administered by the FBI (in fairness, ask Kavanaugh and Judge if they are also willing). Feinstein can’t object – after all, didn’t she WANT them to investigate?

I have heard that assertion but as of yet, I have seen no evidence to corroborate it. An assertion minus corroborating evidence is a baseless and deceptive assertion, nothing more.

  29. 31 | September 17, 2018 9:55 am

    @ eaglesoars:

The key word is “supposedly.” There are plenty for former LEO’s out there claiming to be polygraph administrators that never looked at a polygraph during their years or service at the Bureau but take a course on administration and use their FBI bona fides to claim expertise they really don’t have.

Also, when YOU pay for the polygraph, you are, in effect, telegraphing to the administrator the results you want. The questions can be framed in such a way that you “pass.” We have no idea, for instance, how the examination was conducted, the circumstances and what questions were asked. Knowing that such results are not “admissible” per se, in court or probably elsewhere, it’s just a nice tidbit to throw out there.

Which is why I would say to her. “Are you willing to submit to a polygraph administered at Quantico by the best polygraph examiners in the world?”

    good points, all.

My argument is that stipulating the story she tells is true, so what? a 17 yrs old boy gets drunk at a party and acts like an asshole. The sky is blue. What we know about the neurological development of humans shows our brains aren’t mature for several more years and this is not a ‘predictive’ incident.

My argument for DiFi is if she believed the story to be true from the outset, she had no place withholding it, if she didn’t believe it she has no place releasing it now. Grassley should be looking at some kind of disciplinary action when this is over.

  31. 33 | September 17, 2018 10:21 am

Everyone knows that Finkelstink held back psycho professors accusation until the very last second for the express purpose of delaying a vote on Kavanaugh until after the mid terms in the hope that the Democrats would pick up a Senate seat or two enabling them to block his conformation.

Flake and Conway know this and #Resist #NeverTrump assholes that they are, they are cooperating with the Democrats to achieve this end goal.

  32. 34 | September 17, 2018 10:23 am

What I find intriguing is that this liar (and I really believe she’s lying her ass off) can remember that it was Brett Kavanugh and Mark Judge who attacked her but absolutely NO details of the party – when it was or where it was. This, of course, will preclude investigators from going back and confirming one iota of her story. She remembers it was a house “near the country club.”

Funny, but a detail like that would be something I’d remember. Not the names of two people who say categorically that they NEVER heard of the bitch.

  33. 35 | September 17, 2018 10:28 am

    @ eaglesoars:
    @ The Barbarian:

And considering the seriousness of the charge, why didn’t she turn it over to the Committee and/or FBI for part of their vetting process? Supposedly, she’s turned over this woman’s marriage counselor’s notes from 2012, which claims it was FOUR men and mentions no names. She blames the counselor as writing it down wrong. Horse manure.

“I didn’t tell anyone.” Why the hell not? If these guys are acting like sexual predators, shouldn’t you warn the party’s host to get them to leave? Shouldn’t you tell your parents so that they can have these boys DEALT with?

She made the whole thing up.

Oh, she remembers the Kavanugh name alright. Apparently her parent’s lost a home foreclosure adjudication and Brett Kavanugh’s mother was the judge the case went before. A straight up case of “conflict of Interest” if ever there were one. That information all by its self should be enough to place her assertions in the “shall not be considered as reliable without physical evidence” file.

speaking as a ‘victim’ (I hate that word) of both rape and an attempted sexual assault, I can tell you it’s surprising how memory works. But place and time – unless there are drugs involved – are not malleable. It’s possible that she NEVER knew whose house she was at. Open house parties when the parents aren’t home are not unknown and she could have gone with friends of friends. But not to remember WHEN is a stumbling block for me.

Meanwhile, it would not surprise me that frantic calls are being made to DiFi’s office saying that she was promised she’d never be put under oath.

    I have a question.

There’s a lot of talk about breaking up or regulating Google, especially after that video leaked talking about how they tried to influence the elections, etc. It’s as tho Google has some mysterious magic power over how people think.

My question is: Were you influenced by anything Google did? Or twitter or youtube?

    I honestly don’t think I was, but maybe there’s something insidious I wouldn’t recognize.

At the request of a number of committees of Congress, and for reasons of transparency, the President has directed the Office of the Director of National Intelligence and the Department of Justice (including the FBI) to provide for the immediate declassification of the following materials: (1) pages 10-12 and 17-34 of the June 2017 application to the FISA court in the matter of Carter W. Page; (2) all FBI reports of interviews with Bruce G. Ohr prepared in connection with the Russia investigation; and (3) all FBI reports of interviews prepared in connection with all Carter Page FISA applications.

In addition, President Donald J. Trump has directed the Department of Justice (including the FBI) to publicly release all text messages relating to the Russia investigation, without redaction, of James Comey, Andrew McCabe, Peter Strzok, Lisa Page, and Bruce Ohr.

Both Kavanaugh and Ford have been invited to appear before the Committee on Monday. This may be interesting. Feinstein has been fighting like mad that there needs to be more time.

Notice the key word is “INVITED”. Kavanaugh has said he’ll be there. I’m still relatively sure that this whole “I want to testify!” from Ford was all scripted, thinking that she was never going to be called by the Committee. If she shows up, well and good. If she DOESN’T, look to those sh*tbird Democrats to disrupt the hearing, claiming unfairness. Or not show up. I think we’ll hear a million excuses, but I would be surprised if she attends.

Here’s the thread of sundance’s take on the declassification stuff.

    1. The wording of the directive for declassification is important: “At the request of a number of committees of Congress”….

    2. This shifts the legal issues with executive declassification from the Office of the President (who might hold a legal conflict), to executive fulfillment of legislative branch oversight. [Similar to Nunes memo declassification process]

    Question for Barbarian.

Let’s go back to those notes from her therapist. There is such a thing as doctor/patient privilege. But is that now moot since she used the notes publicly to validate her claim? Can the therapist be called to testify to Congress?

“I’ve been trying to forget this all my life and now I’m supposed to remember every little detail,”

It does not work that way, you cannot erase memories. All you can do is avoid triggers that make your mind re-play that memory.

    I cannot erase my memory.

I may be abnormal but I can re-play in my mind every second of my life.

Well until recent events. I think drink and old age are taking its toll.

Doing it now. Met someone at an airport once. Fell in love at once. Then realised I lost my glasses. LOL um I needed glasses to drive back home. Can re play that moment over and over forever. Found glasses on the floor at the other side of the terminal.

People who frequent blogs like this are unlikely to be influenced by actions of places like Google because we take politics seriously and realize the impact they can have on our lives and those of future generations. However, the bulk of American citizens are apathetic at best about politics, view the fact that “they voted” as some sort of moral statement, yet pay little attention to the issues being discussed. Those are the ones that the Googles and Fakebooks of the world are after. Get a few recurring memes out there, whisper a few innuendos, ban a few “extremists (all right wing)” and “nazis” publicly. Then when those people go to vote, they swing to the leftist candidate or issue. Doesn’t have to be everyone, just enough to swing the results.

The Client has the privilege of making those notes public, though most psychologists/therapists would fight tooth and nail in resisting allowing the client to even see those notes, let alone make them public.
