It’s an Open, because the outcome is inevitable.

A Stud farm in Texas , also proved this . His foals got turbine foot . Damage to the developing cartilage on all his foals as they grew. A new field full of turbines on his perimeter. He then imported a foal not from his stock , healthy vet checked . It started getting turbine foot . The vibration and hum was recorded. All possible contaminants rules out . He won the case

    Good Lord

Alert: England’s vaccinated population had close to one million deaths in 23 months; unvaccinated population had less than 61,000 deaths over the same period

Shocking data released by the U.K. government shows that over the past two years, the vaccinated population in England has suffered an outrageous number of deaths compared to the unvaccinated population, even though approximately 30 percent of the population has not even had a single dose of the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine.

According to the U.K. Health Security Agency (UKHSA), by July 2022, 18.9 million people had refused the first dose of the COVID-19 injection, 21.5 million people had refused the second dose of the COVID-19 injection, alongside 2.6 million people who had received the first dose but refused the second, and 30.4 million people had refused the third dose of the COVID-19 injection, alongside 8.9 million people who had received the second dose but refused the third. (Related: CAUGHT: UK hospitals certified pneumonia deaths as COVID deaths to create illusion of pandemic.)

According to the UKHSA’s figures, 63.4 million people were eligible for vaccination at that point. Therefore, as of July 2022, 30 percent of England’s population remained completely unvaccinated; 34 percent was not double vaccinated; and 50 percent was not triple vaccinated. However, the vaccinated population as a whole accounted for 95 percent of all COVID-19 deaths between January and May 2023, while the unvaccinated population accounted for just five percent.

But it’s the fact that these deaths aren’t among the one-dose and two-dose vaccinated population that is truly horrifying.

The vast majority are among those vaccinated four times, with this population accounting for 80 percent of all COVID-19 deaths, and 83 percent of all COVID-19 deaths among the vaccinated.

I would have looked it up myself when I saw the label, but last night I discovered that Jack Teagarden had a brother, Charlie, and both played in The Benny Goodman Orchestra when they recorded Riffin’ the Scotch in 1933. Gene Krupa was also in that lineup, and I was trying to find out whether the 2nd trumpet was Shirley Clay or Mannie Klein. I think it was Clay.
Besides the all-star lineup, it was also Billie Holiday’s first recording. She was 18 years old.

Trumpets are Charlie Teagarden and Shirley Clay.

My dad remembered seeing Gene Krupa. I never saw him, but did see Buddy Rich in Madison in 1985. He opened for Maynard Ferguson.

And my wife’s best friend found out she has throat cancer. She goes for some testing today, will know more in a couple weeks, I guess. She’s a non-smoker/drinker.

I asked my dad once about Gene Krupa. He said Krupa was nothing compared to Buddy Rich, a madman on drums. I consider it an apples and oranges comparison. Dad had one Krupa record – he was playing xylophone!

I met Maynard Fergusen when I was playing trumpet in high school. He and a small combo gave us some private clinic lessons, played a concert later on.

That would have been incredible, meeting MF. He had such an incredible passion for music education. I think all but 1 or 2 of the times I saw him were for a HS or college music program.

Once, he got the kids back up on stage with him and said “I’m the lead trumpet player. That means you do all the work, I’ll get up, play a few high notes, and everybody goes crazy.”

Yeah, but that takes extra work. A few days ago I thawed out some of the shrimpy things, seasoned them with taco mix and finely chopped onions. Cooked them on low in a skillet and added some salsa to make it moist.

Then, because I was hungry could not be bothered to defrost some flour tortillas and coat the tortillas in oil and heat them up in the other frying pan that lost its non-stick coating but it is awesome at making flour tortillas nice and crispy.

So instead I buttered a couple of slices of white bread and made a sandwich.

Most disgusting thing I ever made.

( actually the reply I was expecting here was ” shove the shrimp up your ass )

California primary results won’t be finalized for 30 days, supposedly due to all the last minute mail in ballots. The election board stopped reporting at about 3am this morning.

Looks like it’s Steve Garvey vs. Adam Schiff for CA senator. I still don’t understand how Schiff can claim residency with a 650 s.f. condo in Burbank when his 3,430 s.f. house is in Maryland. According to one wag, “The race is neck and no-neck.”

Scientists who have examined the brain of the shooter responsible for Maine’s deadliest mass shooting have discovered profound brain damage.

Scientists have concluded that there was repeated trauma to his brain based on scarring and inflammation. They have also used “disorganized clumps” to describe the tissue sheaths inside his brain.

The gunman, Robert Card, was a grenade instructor for the Army Reserve. For years he was subjected to skull shaking blasts as part of his work and last summer, his family says, he began to hear voices and become increasingly paranoid.

This news has implications for the US military as Card never entered combat and always worked in controlled settings the Army has repeatedly claimed are safe.

U.S. Embassy in Moscow warns of ‘imminent’ extremist attack

The U.S. Embassy in Moscow early Friday warned of an “imminent” extremist attack in Russia and alerted American citizens that they may be in danger.

The warning comes a day after Russian authorities said they killed Islamic State militants who were plotting a terrorist attack on a Moscow synagogue.

It wasn’t immediately clear whether that incident is directly linked to Friday’s warning from U.S. officials.

    MEGAN MARKLE STORY!!

Meghan has always told this story that when she was 11 she wrote a letter to Proctor & Gamble objecting to the way they portrayed women in their commercials and got them to change it. Well, her father has publicly said it wasn’t just her, it was a class project.

Now. If any of you are old enough to remember, Brooke Shields’ arrival on the Hollywood scene was when SHE was 11 in her starring role as a child trafficked into prostitution in New Orleans in a movie called ‘Pretty Baby’.

Today, Meghan, Brooke and some other women (Meghan had to buy her way in – ‘nother story) such as Katie Couric were on a panel at a conference called South by Southwest or something, talking about feminism or something blah blah blah.

And Meghan tells this story about herself AGAIN!

Brooke Shields looks at her and sez “When I was 11 I played a prostitute. I wish I had known you.”

    I’m ded.

    Egg price.

23th Jan 2024 extra large 15.8 cents each. 18 pack.

Today 25.4 cents each. 18 pack.

Why? I thought about it for a while and it kind of makes sense. In an industrial facility the eggs are laid at the same rate all year round. Unlike backyard hobby farms where you are knee deep in eggs in spring and lucky if you find one in winter.

We had bird flu in the fall and a scary number of chickens were killed, 80+ million. I kind of joke because that is a small fraction of the flock in the USA.

What may be happening is there is a shortage of egg laying birds now because what happened in the fall caused a shortage of new chicks to replace the egg laying hens. On average a flock of table egg layers are kept for about a year then the house is emptied and replaced by young birds about 16 weeks old.

So it could be a knock on effect from the flu last fall.

Even so 25 cents for an egg is still a great value meal.

Victoria’s Secret Falls Most Ever in Faltering Turnaround

The company’s pledges to improve sales “did not come to fruition,” JP Morgan analyst Matthew Boss wrote in a note Wednesday, downgrading the stock to underweight from neutral.

Victoria’s Secret has been working to attract and retain customers through initiatives like a rebranded fashion show and the expansion of swim and apparel categories, but the efforts have yet to pay off.

In the quarter ended Feb. 3, which included the crucial holiday shopping season, comparable sales at Victoria’s Secret fell 6%. Profitability, meanwhile, beat expectations thanks in part to better inventory management.

The company has been highlighting strong performance in its international business, where total sales grew about 24% in the fourth quarter. But that segment makes up less than 10% of the overall business. “The single biggest challenge in the model right now is the North American sales trend,” Chief Financial Officer TJ Johnson said on a call with analysts.

    https://finance.yahoo.com/news/victoria-secret-falls-nearly-30-111403685.html

The last time I was in a VS store – about 5 yrs ago – the techno music was so loud the sales associate – after I finally found one – and I literally could not hear each other. I walked out. Those poor sales people probably suffered hearing loss if not actual brain damage

Reason 3,0409 why we left Virginia. Herndon is in Northern VA outside DC

Herndon Police Chief Maggie DeBoard defended the integrity of her cadets’ graduation certificates. The certificates were signed not in English, the common platform language in the US criminal justice system, but in Chinese, by the new criminal justice academy director, who is described as a “Chinese American,” presumably meaning he was born in China.

Instead of fixing this to assure the cadets had acceptable credentials and certificates, the Director instead pursued his own self interest and political aspirations, and accused the Hernon police chief of being racist.

    Do gorillas have arms?

    Monkeys?

Both walk on all four limbs, unless they need to use their arms for doing arm things.

Cats are the same. They walk using arms and legs, actually the technical term for using arms and legs as propulsion is crawling.

Cats use their arms and hands to repeatedly open and slam shut kitchen cabinet doors loudly at 3am.

They also use their arms to knock off any object that is on a shelf.

The only difference between cat arms and monkey and human arms is in cats the clavicle bones are no longer there.

Down side of the evolutionary loss of clavicle bones in cats a disconnect from their arms to their torso. A corresponding lack of upper body strength in their arms.

The up side is a cat’s arms can dislocate and allow a cat to crawl through openings that you, having arms connected to your body with a silly useless bone cannot.

Don’t make me prove this. If a cat’s head can get through a hole then the rest of it will go through also with no problem.

The Twelve Angle Stone of Hatunrumiyoc :

The architectural mastery of the great Inca civilization mystifies archaeologists around the world. To illustrate, the Twelve Angle Stone of Hatunrumiyoc in Cusco is one of the most sophisticated examples of their ingenuity, with its 12 angles fitting seamlessly into the surrounding wall. It was laid by Inca masons over 700 years ago, and today is considered a National Heritage Object. The material is a green diorite igneous rock and it is about six feet deep and weighs six tons.

The significance of the 12 angles is not widely known, but it is believed to represent the division of 24 families of Cusco: 12 during the Hurin dynasty and 12 during the Hanan dynasty. The stone was originally part of the Inca palace called Palacio Inca Roca. In the early 20th century, it became the Archbishop’s palace.

The perfectionist Inca stonework is remarkable. This is because they laid the stones so precisely that the use of mortar to hold them together was not necessary. In fact, so perfectly the stones fit, that a piece of paper would not fit between them. As a result, their constructions were also so stable, that they would simply “dance” and then resettle in the event of an earthquake. The 12-angle stone is the most complex example of this puzzling precision.

The stone is actually set in an ancient wall called hatunrumiyoc. The wall makes up one side of the Archbishop’s palace. Hatunruminyoc, according to scholars, means “house that has large stones” in Quechua. This is one of the best-preserved Inca walls in the entire region, with colonial structures built around it.

Boeing whistleblower John Barnett is found dead in his truck outside a South Carolina hotel just days after testifying in lawsuit against the aviation giant
A former Boeing staffer who once raised concerns about the company’s production standards has been found dead in the US.

John Barnett, 62, was found dead in his truck in a hotel parking lot in South Carolina, cops said Monday – seven years after he retired following a 32-year career.

The ex-quality manager at Boeing’s North Charleston plant died from a ‘self-inflicted’ wound, cops in Charleston said, adding that they were still investigating.

Barnett’s death came during a break in depositions in a whistleblower retaliation suit, where he alleged under-pressure workers were deliberately fitting sub-standard parts to aircraft on the assembly line.

He said that in some cases, second-rate parts were literally removed from scrap bins, before being fitted to planes that were being built to prevent delays. A 2017 review by the FAA upheld some of his concerns, requiring Boeing to take action.

He had just given a deposition to Boeing’s lawyers for the case this past week, his attorney Brian Knowles said.

In an email, he called his client’s death ‘tragic’.

‘Today is a tragic day,’ Knowles wrote, revealing that Barnett ‘was supposed to do day three of his deposition here in Charleston on his AIR21 case [on Saturday],’ referring to a federal law that provides whistleblowers protection in the aviation industry.

‘John had been back and forth for quite some time getting prepared,’ he continued, providing a timeline of what transpired in the days before Barnett’s death.

‘The defense examined him for their allowed seven hours under the rules on Thursday.

‘I cross examined him all day yesterday [Friday] and did not finish. We agreed to continue this morning at 10 am [co-counsel] Rob [Turkewitz] kept calling this morning and his phone would go to voicemail.

‘We then asked the hotel to check on him,’ the South Carolina jurist went on.

‘They found him in his truck dead from an ‘alleged’ self-inflicted gunshot. We drove to the hotel and spoke with the police and the coroner.’

The Charleston County coroner, meanwhile, confirmed Monday the longtime Boeing staffer died Friday, while in town for interviews linked to the case.

Boeing also responded to the former worker’s death in their own statement as news spread on Monday, saying it was ‘saddened by Mr. Barnett’s passing.’

Last month, the Hur report found that Joe Biden willfully retained, mishandled, and disclosed classified information but determined that he was essentially too senile to stand trial. According to the report, Biden struggled to remember details, and he couldn’t remember when his son Beau died.

Joe Biden angrily defended his memory in his unplanned address and attacked Special Counsel Robert Hur for bringing up Beau during his interview during the investigation, which managed to make things worse for him.

“There’s even a reference that I don’t remember when my son died,” Biden said. “How in the hell dare he raise that? Frankly, when I was asked the question, I thought to myself, it wasn’t any of their damn business.”

Except that Hur didn’t bring it up. Biden did.

Barnett had given “stark warnings” about quality control issues on two models of Boeing passenger jets, including substandard parts and using Dawn dishwashing soap as a lubricant. The 62-year-old had also claimed that Boeing executives were hiding the company’s safety issues rather than addressing them.

“My concerns are with the 737 and 787 because those programs have really embraced the theory that quality is overhead and non-value-added,” Barnett told TMZ after the infamous Jan. 5 incident when a door plug blew off an Alaska Air 737 MAX 9 that depressured the cabin and exposed passengers to open air shortly after takeoff.

Scientists Discover Method To Stop Active Cancer Cells in Their Tracks

Using these tool molecules forces tumor cells from a specific type of breast cancer into a pro-senescence state – similar to a sleep-like state in which they can no longer divide or cause tumor growth.

This condition makes the cancer cells sensitive to a second group of tool molecules, called senolytic drugs, which can eliminate them. It may also ‘uncloak’ the cancer cells, making them visible to the body’s immune system, offering further therapeutic opportunities.

Researchers developed this ‘two-punch’ method while looking at basal-like breast cancer (BLBC).

Update. Google Gemini AI gave a better reply and did not threaten me with Internet death.

While I can’t generate an image of David Bowie in a bikini, I can describe a possible scenario for you that aligns with his known fashion sense:

Imagine David Bowie during his Ziggy Stardust era, with his bright red mullet. Instead of a bikini, he’s rocking a two-piece swimsuit that pushes the boundaries of gender norms. The top could be a sequined bra in a daring geometric pattern, one half hot pink and the other electric blue. The bottoms could be high-waisted, form-fitting hot pants covered in sparkling silver stars. He’d complete the look with thick platform heels and oversized sunglasses with rainbow-tinted lenses.

And there you have it. Google AI tells me to imagine David Bowie in a sequined bra and form fitting hot pants.

Um, the thick platform heels and oversized sunglasses with rainbow-tinted lenses means Google AI kind of needs more work distinguishing David Bowie and Elton John.

    LOL

Fruit fly traps work. Get a paper cup, put a piece of fruit (or some wine) in it. Cover the top with plastic wrap, secure with a rubber band and poke a hole in it with a pencil. When it gets full of fruit flies, open it up outside to give the birds a treat.

I am done with this AI shit.

why do cats piss on my toaster
    Show drafts

There are a couple of reasons why your cat might be peeing on your toaster, and it boils down to communication. Here are the two main reasons:

Marking territory: This is a common reason for cats to urinate outside the litter box. The toaster could be in a high-traffic area, or it might emit a scent (like plastic) that your cat dislikes and wants to cover with their own.

Stress or anxiety: Cats are creatures of habit, and changes in their environment can make them anxious. New pets, a new baby, loud noises, or even moving the furniture can all trigger inappropriate elimination.

Here are some steps you can take to address the problem:

Rule out medical causes: A urinary tract infection or other health issue could be causing your cat to urinate more frequently or in unusual places. See your vet to get your cat checked out.

Make the litter box appealing: Clean the litter box frequently (scoop at least daily and completely change the litter every week or so). Experiment with different litter types and box locations to see what your cat prefers.

Reduce stress: If you’ve made any recent changes to your home environment, try to identify what might be causing your cat stress and address it. Provide plenty of hiding spots and vertical spaces for your cat to feel secure.

Positive reinforcement: Reward your cat for using the litter box with praise or treats.

Deterrence: Clean the area where your cat urinated thoroughly with an enzymatic cleaner to remove any lingering smells that might attract them back. You can also cover the toaster with a light blanket or mesh deterrent when not in use.

If you continue to have trouble, consult a veterinarian or animal behaviorist for further guidance.

    The correct answer is…

    THEY ARE CATS!!!!!!!!

They had to get past the censors.
They recorded it in 2010. Billboard Magazine said it ranked in the top five most watched YouTube videos on St. Patrick’s Day in 2016, 2017, 2018 & 2019.

As nice as it’s been hanging out on the beach for the last week, Loreto is a nice change. We’re in a small RV park that’s in between the town square and the marina. Water and electricity are nice, along with a real supermarket.

I’m sitting at an outdoor table at a restaurant off the square, drinking a margarita and waiting for dinner while listening to a fairly decent guy playing guitar and singing classic rock.

I could get used to this.

Google Maps did its best to try to kill me again today. I’ve come to the conclusion that it works fine to get you from one town to another, but urban navigation in Mexico is beyond its capabilities. It sent me down not one but two dead end streets today. Normally I wouldn’t care, but it’s Mexico and I’m pulling a trailer. Yesterday, it kept trying to send me the wrong way on one way streets.

I still haven’t figured out what the purpose of the military checkpoints is. I’ve encountered three of them so far, and they’ve basically waved me through once they realized that I’m an American. Meanwhile, they’re taking apart some random Toyota.

You’d enjoy the government mandated labels on groceries here. Their Ministry of Health apparently requires labels on products that have excessive calories, sugar, salt, fat, etc.

A can of Coke here has more warnings on it than a pack of cigarettes in the US

I should get back to check on Cody. I put all the flammable items out of his reach, but he’s crafty. I technically could have brought him with me to dinner, but I’m trying to avoid international incidents.

Literally every package in the store has at least one warning label on it. Most have several

    For CW

A man goes to the confessional. “Forgive me father, for I have sinned.”
“What is your sin, my child?” The priest asks back.
“Well,” the man starts, “I used some horrible language this week and feel absolutely terrible.”
“When did you do use this awful language?” said the priest.
“I was golfing and I hit an incredible drive that looked like it was going to go over 250 yards, but it struck a phone line that was hanging over the fairway and fell straight down to the ground after going only about 100 yards.”
    “Is that when you swore?”
“No, Father.” said the man. “After that, a squirrel ran out of the bushes and grabbed my ball in his mouth and began to run away.”
“Is THAT when you swore?” asked the Father again.
“Well, no.” said the man, “You see, as the squirrel was running, an eagle came down out of the sky, grabbed the squirrel in his talons and began to fly away!”
“Is THAT when you swore?” asked the amazed Priest.
“No, not yet.” the man replied. “As the eagle carried the squirrel away in his claws, it flew towards the green. And as it passed over a bit of forest near the green, the squirrel dropped my ball.”
“Did you swear THEN?” asked the now impatient Priest.
“No, because as the ball fell it struck a tree, bounced through some bushes, careened off a big rock, and rolled through a sand trap onto the green and stopped within six inches of the hole.”
“You missed the f**king putt, didn’t you?” sighed the Priest.

“Since her death in 1979, the woman who discovered what the universe is made of has not so much as received a memorial plaque. Her newspaper obituaries do not mention her greatest discovery. […] Every high school student knows that Isaac Newton discovered gravity, that Charles Darwin discovered evolution, and that Albert Einstein discovered the relativity of time. But when it comes to the composition of our universe, the textbooks simply say that the most abundant atom in the universe is hydrogen. And no one ever wonders how we know.”

Jeremy Knowles, discusses the complete lack of recognition Cecilia Payne gets, even today, for her revolutionary discovery. (via alliterate)
OH WAIT LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT CECILIA PAYNE.
Cecilia Payne’s mother refused to spend money on her college education, so she won a scholarship to Cambridge.
Cecilia Payne completed her studies, but Cambridge wouldn’t give her a degree because at that time there was not much exposure for women, so she said to heck with that and moved to the United States to work at Harvard.
Cecilia Payne was the first person ever to earn a Ph.D. in astronomy from Radcliffe College, with what Otto Strauve called “the most brilliant Ph.D. thesis ever written in astronomy.”
Not only did Cecilia Payne discover what the universe is made of, she also discovered what the sun is made of (Henry Norris Russell, a fellow astronomer, is usually given credit for discovering that the sun’s composition is different from the Earth’s, but he came to his conclusions four years later than Payne—after telling her not to publish).
Cecilia Payne is the reason we know basically anything about variable stars (stars whose brightness as seen from earth fluctuates). Literally every other study on variable stars is based on her work.
Cecilia Payne was the first woman to be promoted to full professor from within Harvard, and is often credited with breaking the glass ceiling for women in the Harvard science department and in astronomy, as well as inspiring entire generations of women to take up science.
Cecilia Payne is awesome and everyone should know her.
