President Harry Truman announced that the 3rd Saturday in May will be a holiday in a presidential proclamation on February 20, 1950. All branches of the military were asked to celebrate on this day, instead of the various days for different branches. The first Armed Forces Day was held the following year on May 20, 1950.

I would like to offer a sincere thank you and a big ol’ hug to all of the men and women that made the decision to put it all on the line for us. Thank you for your sacrifice. Thank you for your patriotism. Thank you for being man or woman enough to risk it all for our beloved country. You are the backbone. You are all heroes to me.

I hope that everyone takes the time to thank our bravest today, in words and deeds.

Armed Forces Day
POTUS
Send a thank you card

We're not easily offended and don't want people to think they have to walk on eggshells around here (like at another place that shall remain nameless) but of course, there is a limit to everything.

Play nice!
