Since we at The Blogmocracy utilize the Internet (specifically, BlogTalkRadio, to spread our message, this would be a great time to share our other links to Internet radio…specifically, the music we listen to.
I discovered this genre about ten years ago when 56K was still the rage. There was an East Coast-based outlet called “Taco Wagon”, which was an eclectic collection of modern, classic rock, and world music (which for the most part, IMHO, is not so bad). Taco Wagon was ultimately shut down by some entity (methinks) with the following initials: R, I, A, and A.
Here’s some stations I’ve discovered..and actually like:
Radio Paradise highlights the same format as Taco Wagon did, and is listener-supported.
Europa Plus (Европы Плюс) is based in Moscow…with frequencies all over the former Soviet Bloc. It features world music and Top 40 hits, with emphasis on Russian artists. It’s really wild to hear the DJs play the same songs we’re used to, the news, weather and traffic conditions…except it’s in Russian of course!
CBC Radio 3 is operated by the Canadian Government, and gives preference to up-and-coming Canadian artists in its modern rock format, eh.
