Message to the new Republican Congress

Today marks the swearing in of the Republican dominated 112th Congress. Even before they are sworn in some ominous signs are becoming apparent. Incoming House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) has already suggested that the new Republican majority will share power with the Democratic minority. Clearly this is not what people voted them to do. The Republicans are also backing out of their pledge to cut 100 Billion from the budget. The excuse is that it’s already 1/2 way through the fiscal year. Their surrender in the lame duck was another indication they didn’t heed the message of the voters. As a result Obama’s popularity is back up and he is at his strongest politically in over a year. We have seen this movie before and enough is enough.

This is an open letter to the Republican Party:

For too long the elites in your party have made promises and have gone back on them. On November 12th, we voted for you because you promised you learned your lesson. Now you are reverting back to Bush era Compassionate Conservatism and appeasement of the Progressives. You have selected as your leaders John Boehner and Mitch McConnell, two useless politicians who bow to Leftist demands and who don’t fight back.

Social Conservatives, Economic Conservatives and Libertarians have had enough of your cat and mouse game. You manipulate Social Conservatives with talk of family values, yet you peruse economic policies that hurt American families, and then get caught with meth whores or with young boys. You trick Economic Conservatives with talk of fiscal responsibility, yet you don’t cut spending. We have had enough and you are on watch. If you don’t keep your promises and roll over for the Obama agenda we are through with you.  The Tea Party is watching you and is warning you. If you don’t live up to what yous aid, we will come for you. A new Rightwing Party will emerge and the GOP will go the way of the Whigs.

Let’s see if they heed our warning.

We're not easily offended and don't want people to think they have to walk on eggshells around here (like at another place that shall remain nameless) but of course, there is a limit to everything.

Play nice!
