Finding Out What’s In It Part XI

Every once in a while, I am surprised in a horrible and completely unexpected way.  Today was one of those days.  The hat tips for this story are literally too numerous to mention.  I have seen it all over the net, and it still shocks me.  Most of us knew that as part of the Obamacare sink hole of a law, Student Loans were effectively nationalized and placed under the jurisdiction of the Department of Education.  I don’t think any of us realized that the Education Department would be given armed thugs with broad authority to break through doors and brutalize private citizens over delinquent loans.  There are no words, but those of you who know me, know I will try anyway.  For those of you who voted for Obama, was this the hopety change you were looking for?  Debtors prison was ended in the civilized world centuries ago.  In the past, in America anyhow, loan delinquencies held with law abiding entities were dealt with through court filings, promises to repay, wage garnishments, and other more civilized methods.  Only loan sharks, gangsters, and other less savory thugs used the methods of violent intimidation.  Being from Chicago, President Obama prefers the latter.  It would seem that the Department of Education will join the ranks of the Mafia in order to settle their accounts.  So, if you are planning on going to college, beware, and be very frightened.   To the GOP Presidential candidates out there, please have the moral courage to make this a campaign issue, especially in the debate about repealing this law.  I for one do not want a Department of Education with guns, especially since it is painfully obvious that no one has taught them how to use them.

We're not easily offended and don't want people to think they have to walk on eggshells around here (like at another place that shall remain nameless) but of course, there is a limit to everything.

Play nice!
