This is neither about agile human burglars, nor about perverse humans who cat-nap innocent felines. These klepto cats are the real deal. Dennis the Cat Burglar in Luton, England has become a fascinating research subject:

Dennis keeps mistaking toys and people’s belongings for prey or food and brings it home. I was amazed to how far he goes and to how he finds his way back home! A great film and a lovely cat too! If any of your things have gone missing from your back garden, Then you know who to blame. On The One Show, presented by the Lovely and very pretty Alex Jones and the great Matt Baker. Enjoy!

Another explanation?

Cats rely on their acute sense of smell. Perhaps they simply enjoy the variety of human scents on the belongings that they bring home.
