I dreamed.

I did. I came home after this night shift, off for two days. So I crashed with phoebe the blog dog on the big assed bean bag in the living room. Mrs Coldwarrior got the kids off to school and then went to the gym. All is good.

I dreamed. I was at james street, north side of PGH, hanging out with an old friend who played a great guitar..

i woke around noon, i mentioned to her about my dream. she stated that she dreamt of the same guy the night before.

we were both heavy into the care of him as he presented and then passed. I guess he wanted to pay us a visit.

enjoy:

    Eagles.
What we were c hatting about yesterday

Australia’s (and NZ’s) decision to choose either security or prosperity.

To choose prosperity as South Korea has means that Seoul dumps the US as its security partner.

To choose security means that Australia has to totally re-engineer its economy away from Beijing and towards the US , the UK and EU. It also has to decide how to handle the 5% of its population who are ethnic Chinese most of which were born in China!

    Enjoy Eagles

    https://www.pickeringpost.com/david-hilton/14305/china-stealing-military-secrets/

CW might find it interesting as well.

The next obvious question is when and how does Australia ( & NZ ) frealign their economies when the US appears not particularly interested.

    @ Aussie Infidel:

News of The Thousand Talents Program is all over the place now (except MSM, natch).

The Aussie/NZ crew won’t find its center until it figures out that demonizing the US is not a strategy. Getting into bed with China doesn’t mean you’ve just fucked the U.S.

Anti-Americanism is a well-worn trope these days. Back before there WAS a United States, the snots in Europe were busy finding reasons to look down on us. There’s a story, perhaps apocryphal, about conversation during a dinner in Paris. Jefferson, Franklin, etc. some others I don’t recall, and some French they needed to beg money from.

The American continent was well known as a place where species went to devolve, become ‘backwards’, and shrink. Said the French. So why should we give you money?

Franklin invited everyone around the table to stand.

    And that ended that.

A wonderful book about how the US is viewed globally is The Reconstructing America: The Symbol of America in Modern Thought. Written by James Ceaser, prof poli sci, Univ. Va.

    https://smile.amazon.com/Reconstructing-America-Symbol-Modern-Thought/dp/0300070535/ref=sr_1_5?crid=FD69XW9NSY22&keywords=james+ceaser&qid=1574347373&s=books&sprefix=James+Ceas%2Caps%2C144&sr=1-5

When I was just beginning the work I do now, I stumbled on this book. I contacted Ceaser and he could NOT have been more generous with his thinking on the psychology of the EU and its positioning toward the U.S., etc.

So The Thousand Talents thing is -as CW says – not new in terms of political history. Hating America, hating Jews…it’s the same pathology.

I don’t think ‘hate’ has ever been looked at as a functional good. We’ve always said ‘hate is bad’ but never asked why, if it’s so horrid, we somehow can’t get rid of it.

    Because it serves a purpose.

Don’t get all thin skinned guys.

Nobody’s hating on the US from ‘down-under’ . Far from it. Please don’t lump our two nation States in with the eggs from the EU and the US inferiority complex with the UK over parentage. We have the same issues here.

The $64,000 question is how a huge continental sized State ( plus a little brother with sibling rivalry issues) but with a population just 1/12th the size of the US can survive based on it’s need to trade to prosper. And with a tiny home market that precludes , like the US the ability to stand alone with economies of scale.

The only way for Australia and NZ to survive is to trade and not be too choosy as to who we trade with , such is the economic requirement. The ‘down-under economies were trashed overnight when Britain joined the EU. Trade with the US was slowly built as a possible alternative however other trade outlets included the EU with serious limitations, and emerging Asia. Finally China’s growth 20 years ago enabled Australia and to a lesser extent NZ to trade profitably and prosper.

Trade with the US was always difficult because of the inbuilt trade restrictions and barriers to trade erected by US special interest groups. Even Australias so called Free trade Agreement with the US is a nonsense as those special interests in the US have screwed the hell out of Australian traders for crass local political reasons. The divorcing of Strategic considerations of international trade relationships has always been a serious flaw in US trading policy.

Now we have the serious decision to make. Become prosperous by building up trade with the Chinese but also becoming a vassal state OR maintain our security by continuing to aligning with the US but ending up a LOT poorer as a consequence. South Korea has made the choice of getting into bed with China and going for the money. Even the Japanese are considering a similar accommodation with China. The rest of the small state in Asia will make the same decisions and China is just purchasing the elites of the SW Pacific micro-states for chump change.

Suddenly the US is finding that China is winning it’s proxy war with the US in the Asia/ Pacific by NOT FIGHTING but by buying influence with fiat cash! Xi is using Sun Tsu’s tactic of winning by not fighting but by subsuming the battlefield without firing a shot. Suddenly the US strategic oceanic barrier to the west just halved, and Hawaii is going to be on the front line.

Both Australia and NZ need FAIR TRADE to survive. Only the US can guarantee that in the Pacific hemisphere given the closing of the EU and the Chinese trading substation of much of Asia.

Give us a break here guys. We don’t hate the US. That’s just 1776 pride, a whiff of anti-Olde World inferiority complex and paranoia. We’re cousins and we need you guys to treat us more like family and not jerks to be conned and gulled on trade on which our very existence depends.
    🙂

Commissioners voted in favor of a resolution declaring Sullivan County a Second Amendment sanctuary.

Commissioners Gary Stidham and Hunter Locke sponsored the resolution. It passes amid concern from citizen advocates, other states enforcing red flag laws and proposed gun control legislation across the state line in Virginia.

If I were all those Democrat hearsay witnesses, I’d be sweating serious bullets right now. Because if this absurdity goes to the SENATE, they aren’t going to have Schiffty McPencilneck and the other Democrat nitwits, including Eric “Fartacus” Swalwell, running interference for their garbage testimony.

Schiffty isn’t going to be able to protect his weaselblower either. They’ll subpoena Cheatamella, and half of Schiffty’s staff and grill them on how this so-called complaint came about. And there’s nothing Schiffty can do – after all, supposedly HE doesn’t know the identity of the weaselblower, right?

I recall Levin bending a pretzel and finding a way around the rules. Boy, what a one-sided article. What hearings were these Nimrods watching?

I’m thinking that Pelosi either 1) does NOT subject this to a vote for formal impeachment proceedings (remember – this is ONLY a inquiry so far) to begin in the House Judiciary Committee, where Schiff doesn’t reign supreme, and where they would be hard-pressed NOT to employ the same rules followed for Nixon and Clinton, or 2) DOES call for a formal impeachment inquiry vote and those Democrats in shaky districts vote against it and she doesn’t get her majority. Keeps them safe and she, Schiffty, Nadler and the rest are still heroes for trying to impeach Trump.

It would not even surprise me if she first calls for a VOICE vote to keep House members out of electoral jeopardy.
