The more I think about it tho, the more I think it’s a better idea to wait till we get to Knoxville. First, I don’t have to worry about transport and I’m not sure what the law on barrel length will be by the time we get there. I’d hate to buy a 16in and find out only 18 is allowed. Also, there is what looks like a really good gun shop there, with indoor ranges, gun smithing, training, etc. and this place looks nice too
https://shootpointblank.com/retail-store/
I’m so busy getting everything org’d for this move, I don’t have time to train with the thing, which would be really dumb.
So I think I’ll wait.
But I’m gonna get me one, cuz I’m worth it. And I miss shooting, I haven’t been on a range since Bonnie started to get sick and that’s been how many years? didn’t want to spend $$$ on the ammo or the time away from her
Oh! Even worse! Glenn Reynolds posted a clip comparing a Glock G43 and a Sig P365 and now I want to see how a P365 plays (I seem to have trouble w/Glock slides)

@ eaglesoars:
I would suggest that you get an AR with a 1:7 twist barrel, also. Those are able to use any bullet weight ammo. The 1:9 twist barrels won’t stabilize anything but 55 grain bullets.

FAIRFAX, Virginia — Immigrants who fled Central American countries to get away from transnational criminal organizations such as MS-13 have come to the United States only to find the exact same gangs terrorizing northern Virginia communities.
Five federal and local officials who work on gang matters in the region told the Washington Examiner that while they do not have a way to calculate exactly how many people — asylum seekers, temporary protected status recipients, immigrants, and those without documents — have been victims of crimes committed by MS-13 and others, the immigrant community in Fairfax County, Virginia, is often on the receiving end of extortion, violence, and other crimes.
https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/they-escaped-ms-13-in-central-america-only-to-find-the-gang-thriving-in-northern-virginia
But the Fairfax Co. sheriff won’t cooperate w/ice and the board of supers allocated about $200k to pay lawyers to help illegals fight deportation. It just amazes me that people simply don’t pay attention to what’s going on locally and stay sound asleep while the very foundation of the life they worked so hard to achieve is being eroded by the people they voted for.
@ coldwarrior:
I have some hope for Durham. I have zero for Horowitz. But even if Durham comes out with guns blazing, I keep in mind that Barr’s DOJ is apparently declining to prosecute McCabe.
@ lobo91:
Is a 1:7 twist what is being referred to as ‘hybrid’ in what I’ve been reading?
My heathen beagles finally went back to day camp today after being quarantined at home for a month because Willow picked up hookworm. They’ve had great, kill-the-squirrels runs every day with me & their favorite person in the whole world, Megan the dog walker, but my knees are shot and the house is totaled. I have to get to work.
@ eaglesoars:
I think that’s usually referring to caliber (like an AR platform rifle that’s chambered for 7.62×39 AK rounds).
The twist rate for the original AR-15 and the M-16/M-16A1 was 1:9. Back then, all the ammo was 55 grain, so it was fine.
When the M-16A2 came out in the mid-80s, the military switched to 62 grain ammo, so it came with a 1:7 twist rate barrel.
You can actually fire either one from either barrel. It’s a matter of accuracy.
The main reason to get a 1:7 twist barrel is so you can shoot anything, without having to stop and think about it.
I am British so my options are limited.
Thinking of getting a NT-6 or a FE20 for open carry.
If I need to conceal carry then I would use a FE-5 and wear baggy pants.

There’s a guy who writes on the 2nd amendment for the Free Beacon who has pointed out that the proposed law in Virginia on shotguns has NO grandfather clause, meaning if you already own one of these things, you’re use of it is restricted to the point that you can’t use it.
And for all the rah-rah reports on how many counties in Virginia are declaring themselves 2A sanctuary counties, people forget about reciprocity issues. Most people don’t know where the county boundaries lie, so they can be perfectly legal at the gas station, and a felon in the grocery store.
This doesn’t work and it doesn’t address the problem. I’m not going to hide and I’m not going to fight a losing battle. I’m going somewhere I can fight. Tennessee isn’t lost yet, altho there is a fight on that is very low key. But the people there are waking up a lot sooner than the people here. They can have their MS-13 illegals and body parts of teenage girls in the local parks.

It may be. As for Durham, he has empaneled a grand jury and you don’t do that unless you’re proceeding with criminal indictments. It’s possible they wanted to avoid a double-jeopardy situation. You aren’t going to find a jury there to convict based on the scope of sources IG Horowitz is confined to. Durham has no restrictions. The guy has tentacles in Ukraine.

Nice unsworn staff doing the paperwork and giving really useful advice . I was told to get in fast and get a M-2 Tactical shotgun and told me where to get the magazine reworked ( there are only 2 gunsmiths in Auckland authorised to do this work) to make it a 5 shot semi auto instead of a 7 shot semi auto.
Went to my local gunshot and listened to a customer bitching about the price he got for a lightly used firearm. A major base in Northern Australia with reach into both the Indian and SW Pacific is going to cost way more than a few hundred million bucks. Australia should man up and spend some of the extra military infrastructure cash on a Darwin base.
Allow the Chinese to complete their $400 million hotel complex / barracks block and then cancel the 99 year Chinese lease of Port Darwin on strategic reasons. Have a trial in Australia to sort out the resulting temper tantrum and award China a token $1 million reparation. Just as the Chinese have done on numerous occasions to Australian and NZ Joint Venture companies who’s IP was stolen by Chinese partner companies who then set up on competition. I believe the Lion Breweries NZ lost over $200 million in such a scam and were awarded a mere $10,000 reparation in a Chinese court.

No gas systems to screw up and get blocked just wjhen you can’t afford it to jam
Low recoil and ultra lightweight.
Police tactical and adjustable butt stock if you are in a jurisdiction that allows you to own them
A 14.5″ barrel for those tight internal corners
Choked where it counts
Suggested load birdshot for internal use at ultra short ranges and snap shots precluded wall penetrations and the potential for collateral family damage. Birdshot at 6 feet still makes a very large hole
Solid slugs for the zombie apocalypse

I like the 14.5 “, and it really does look simple. I don’t know if there are legal reqs in Tennessee on barrel lengths, but I’ll put this on on my list, thanks.
@ eaglesoars:
18.5″ is the shortest barrel that’s legal to own on a shotgun in the US without having to get a tax stamp from the ATF.
Those very short barrels like on the Shockwave or the Remington equivalents are legal because according to the ATF, they aren’t shotguns. They fall into a nebulous class known as “firearms.”
It’s all about the grip. If you look at them, they all have the exact same grip, which is a “birdshead” design. If it ships from the factory with that installed, the barrel can be shorter. It’s because the legal definition of a shotgun includes being a shoulder-fired weapon. Obviously, with that sort of grip, it can’t be shoulder fired.
It’s all kind of silly, but that’s the law.
