Super Bowl LIV(e) Open

As has been pointed out, THIS is the nightmare Super Bowl scenario for Raider fans, who hate no two teams more than the 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs. By the way, am I the only one who blinks twice when I see “Las Vegas Raiders” at the crawl on ESPN? Why do they feel the need to keep the team name when it moves to a new location?  Change it. “Utah Jazz”? Yeah, because when I hear “Utah” the first thing that comes to mind is Dave Brubeck. Call them the Las Vegas Hangovers.

I’m not going to be watching because I seriously have better things to do.  Plus I loathe the 49ers. The team that created this entire mess that has been the NFL for the last five years by not taking that asshat Krapperdick aside when he first pulled that bench sitting stunt and telling him he was viewing the Anthem from the locker room in future.

The other reason I won’t be watching is that I have no doubt that the “woke” commentators will spend the pregame and game commenting constantly on how much impact on today’s game Krapperdick would be having if he were still with the 49ers. Never mind that they would’t have had a winning season, let alone a shot at the title. Never mind that Krapperdick walked away from his contract and into active player oblivion. IF the 49ers lose, rest assured Twitter will be alive with the Sound of Musing – that they would have won with Krapperdick; the same quarterback that lost the last one.

So enjoy the game if you’re watching. But do not fall in the trap of the drinking game where you take a shot every time someone says how much impact Krapperedick would have had on the game. Because you’ll be in the ER with alcohol poisoning before you can watch Sean Hannity’s interview with the President…..

Millions of surgical gowns made in China are being recalled because they may not be sterile. Surgeries are now being canceled in some hospitals.

Alan Levine, CEO of Ballad Health in Tennessee, said they had to reschedule 200 surgeries.

“We still don’t know if whether we’ve hit the worst of it or not,” Levine said.

insurance will not pay for infections from the OR. the hospital has to eat this cost for treatment.

so, how much money did the hospital save by using chinese garbage?

none, one infection will outpace the saved money for using the cheapest available stuff.

    @ coldwarrior:

how complicated can it be to make these things? If I were younger and had some seed money, I’d go thru everything we get from China that is ‘single-sourced’ from China, take the simple, easy stuff, and start making it here.

Made in the USA. How tough can that be?

Is there a state that is representative of the country as a whole?

no, dumbass. That’s kinda the point of the country.

well, there’s still the convention. Of course, with the DNC it will be ‘brokered’, i.e., rigged.

How do you think the people in Iowa feel when they pretty much anoint Bernie and the next thing they know, Bloomberg has bought them out lock, stock, and ammo?

Because I think there’s a good chance that happens. They’re looking at the field thinking, ‘the only thing that beats Trump is another Trump’.

    Bloomberg.

  10. 10 | February 2, 2020 12:21 pm

    @ eaglesoars:

Bloomberg isn’t Trump. The Democrats don’t seem to realize that Trump is not seen as “another rich guy” – he has an everyman quality and love of country going for him. Bloomberg is a hypocritical elitist that is going to alienate everyone. “I know what ‘s best for you.” Democrats still don’t understand WHY Trump won in 2016. And they never will.

Daughter is locked up with three Chinese school girls recently back from China under a 2 week isolation before they are allowed to go back to school after the long summer holidays.

I wonder if she is getting danger money?

    🙂

Either way we are putting her under a 3 week isolation to make sure that she is not caring Corona. Our bolt-hole is all provisioned up and ready for an Apocalypse if it comes to that. All will be well unless there is a total power failure that lasts more than 3 days. The time a closed freezer will last holding 200 pounds of prime meat with associated other perishable stuff. In that case it’s back to tinned provisions.

Still if push does come to shove there are some particularly delicious prime ribs and steak waiting. If we have to eat tem because of a power outage we are going to be heartily sick of meat before we empty a rapidly defrosting freezer.

    🙂

Our annual water bill arrived by the usual hand delivery last Thursday. The nominal $60 a year for maintaining our small community spring, dam and associated reticulation piping. At least the water is sorted!

    >b>John Kerry overheard discussing possible 2020 bid amid concern of ‘Sanders taking down the Democratic Party’

DES MOINES, Iowa — Former Secretary of State John Kerry — one of Joe Biden’s highest-profile endorsers — was overheard Sunday on the phone at a Des Moines hotel explaining what he would have to do to enter the presidential race amid “the possibility of Bernie Sanders taking down the Democratic Party — down whole.”

Sitting in the lobby restaurant of the Renaissance Savery hotel, Kerry was overheard by an NBC News analyst saying “maybe I’m f—ing deluding myself here” and explaining that in order to run, he’d have to step down from the board of Bank of America and give up his ability to make paid speeches. Kerry said donors like venture capitalist Doug Hickey would have to “raise a couple of million,” adding that such donors “now have the reality of Bernie.”

Did you know we attacked Somalia today? Me neither. According to the Express (UK) it’s the beginning of WW III.

WORLD WAR 3 fears erupted on Sunday after the US launched an attack on terrorists in Somalia, with officials confirming at least one had died in the airstrike

The US Africa Command confirmed on Sunday night that strikes had been carried out against terror outfit, al-Shabaab. The attack took place in the vicinity of Jilib. A statement released by the Command confirmed that one terrorist had died.

In his 12 years as ruler of New York, he showed his willingness to “buy” elective office, spending half a billion dollars on his three runs. To match the $174 per vote he spent to win his final term, Bloomberg—who’s has already spent $200 million on TV ads—would need to spend an unheard of $12 billion. He could afford it.

None of this seems beyond a man who demonstrated his l’état c’est moi attitude in 2009, when, after reluctantly giving up a run in the 2008 presidential election, he changed city law and overrode the will of the voters to allow himself to run for a third term after personally meeting with the owners of the city’s three major papers to get their editorial boards to reverse themselves and endorse that undemocratic move.

    oh god spare me.

Now everybody is bitching because J Lo & Shakira are taking us back to ‘objectifying women’. I’ve seen complaints on twitter that this is supposed to be ‘family time’.

I didn’t like the music, but I did’t expect to. I didn’t hear any of this when Beyonce did the show and she was a total skank and anti-cop for good measure.

J Lo is downright gorgeous, great body, and she showed it off. And sorry, NFL football is a very rough game where grown men sacrifice their bodies to a gladiator cult, so you might want to re-think your ‘family time’ values.

On January 27, 1986 the space shuttle Challenger was accidentally destroyed during launch with all seven persons aboard.

Also on this day the Church of Scientology made their official announcement that L. Ron Hubbard had died. In doing so they put forth a nonsense story that their founder had dropped his body and no mention was made of the fact that he’d suffered a stroke a week before.* The true believers were then shocked to discover that no one outside the cult gave a damn about that useless malingering REMF** piece of excrement. (Yes, I know I’m insulting excrement.) They’re particularly upset everyone was more concerned about the deaths of seven Wogs*** than with the passing of the most important being on the planet.****

    * I personally favor the pillow over the face as the actual cause of death.

    ** Rear Echelon Mother F***er.

*** Wog is the Scientologist term for a nonmember and the functional equivalent of the N-word.

**** Adolf Hitler used to think of himself that way too.

Especially the way that psychopathic midget Miscavage leaped to the podium, declared Hubbard dead and proceeded to exile Hubbard’s inner circle and consolidate power in himself. Also, his wife Shelly has not been seen or heard from in over 10 years.

    @ eaglesoars:

Since I first started listening to him sometime just before GW I, I’ve wondered to myself many times if, God forbid, something were to happen to him, could he be replaced ? After all these years I have to say ‘No’, there is no one else like him. No one else on the air thinks like him. His unique perspective on the day to day news is amazing considering he only has ‘over night’ to think about ‘the issues’.
I’ve known conservatives who think he was the worst thing that happened to the party which has always amazed me. The hell with the party, hes helped countless young people how to think, undone the damage our public schools have done to them for decades now. I always get called out on that one: “SEE, you just said he brainwashes people with his bs !!” to which I respond ‘He doesn’t tell people WHAT to think, he teaches HOW to think (how to question, not just accept what they hear and see put out by the MSM).
I sincerely think that the USA would be a different place had his show never existed.
I still remember the day he first got my attention. I was clicking around on the cars AM radio and I hear this guy saying something like “We will kick the Iraqis butt in a week, it will be all over in a week”. CBS, NBC & ABC are all talking about the ‘Republican Guard’ and how our military isn’t up to the task, our tanks will bog down in the desert etc. He was so confident that it actually started to relax me. Then after seeing the ASS KICKIN’ our troops gave them, tanks included, I was hooked and I stopped watching network news and pretty much ignored all of the msm.
Rush limbaugh and the interwebs, oh, and a former game show host… someone ‘above’ is blessing this country, I’m convinced !!
I’m shocked though that he was at an advanced stage before it was dx’d.
So much for the idea that being ‘rich and famous’ gives you a ‘one up’.
I know that I’m going to be praying for him for whatever good it will do.
    God help you Rush Limbaugh.

    @ 4_Sticks:

I was never a talk radio person until somebody told me I HAD to listen to Chris Plante. Hooked. His time slot is 9-12, so I slid right into Rush.

I like him because sometimes he has an angle on something I’d not thought of myself. And he’s a truly nice man.

As For his illness, I hear the word ‘advanced’ and I think ‘mestastisized’. His only symptom was shortness of breath and that started around Jan 12.

Iron Fist was the same way. His only symptom was fatigue, he couldn’t finish his morning workout. Just a few weeks.

So I’m hopeful for a long break before we lose him. But I have no illusions about ‘another Rush’. There will not be, can not be, another Breitbart. Same for Rush. By definition they are sui generis.

The timing just sucks. I’d feel less bad if we were in safe harbor. Assuming there is such a place.

That is quite true. They have been polities for years but their clinical analysis is usually OK. It’s just when they get into the political fringes that their neo-Marxism begins to show!

Exactly. My job was killing me but I had this to look forward to. He used to tease with a question asking the audience what was ‘missing’ from some report of the press, whatever. It was like doing a puzzle(s) It took a few years for me tpo catch on and get his way of thinking, I used to buy into whatever ‘uncle Walter’ to Tom Brokaw told me, seldom questioning their slant on things. It was like they say about riding a bike – once you catch on, you never forget. I was an avid lib too back in the 70s. By ’86 I was a different person. No brain washing either, just ‘woke’. Hey, it happens (right Kanye?). “How DARE you … !!” lol.

I just watched half time for J Lo and because I’ve defended her choice of costume, I’ve been branded as lacking a moral compass.

Which is true but totally irrelevant and not proven by my defense of J Lo. Beyonce was far more vulgar and anti-cop and she got petted like Karl Lagerfeld’s cat, Choupette.

If you consider watching men engaged in gladatorial combat ‘family time’, that’s your business, but don’t then tell me that a drop dead gorgeous woman doing a pole dance is an offense against ‘family time’.

Had it been Jennifer Rubin, you would have an iron-clad case, that woman is an offense against nature
