    Thursday (n.)

fifth day of the week, Old English þurresdæg, a contraction (perhaps influenced by Old Norse þorsdagr) of þunresdæg, literally “Thor’s day,” from Þunre, genitive of Þunor “Thor” (see thunder (n.)); from Proto-Germanic *thonaras daga (source also of Old Frisian thunresdei, Middle Dutch donresdach, Dutch donderdag, Old High German Donares tag, German Donnerstag, Danish and Swedish Torsdag “Thursday”), a loan-translation of Latin Jovis dies “day of Jupiter.”

Roman Jupiter was identified with the Germanic Thor. The Latin word is the source of Italian giovedi, Old French juesdi, French jeudi, Spanish jueves, and is itself a loan-translation of Greek dios hemera “the day of Zeus.”

    interesting.

I voted for Mitt Romney when he was running for president as a Republican, I’m sorry for this.

    2. 2 | February 20, 2020 12:40 am

Two definitions from the New Devil’s Dictionary:

Gun Control: The theory that the solution to the problem of firearms usage by violent criminals is to attack, imprison, and kill innocent people who own firearms.

Gun Owner: Someone often identified as a “Fascist” by caring, compassionate, and progressive people. Example: “Leslie Bates is a gun owner! Kill him!”

The advocacy of a political end cannot be separated from the advocacy the means it is brought about. The case in this point is that the disarming of The People requires the use of deadly force. Some advocates of “Gun Control” do not have a problem with this. In their view reality is subject to a vote and therefore a vote to legalize the murder of citizens who own guns is morally correct. But Reality is Real. Reality is not subject to a vote. And Murder is Murder. No vote by any political body can change that. The advocacy of “Gun Control” is the advocacy of Murder. A state that legalizes Murder in this respect ceases to be a government and devolves to a gang of criminals. And as such it must be put down by deadly force, and those who pushed and voted for the Murder of gun owners must themselves be put to death.

There’s no such thing as a God given right. A right is a concept, and all concepts must be based on the facts of reality.

      But is gun control effective?

      No.

The effectiveness of totalitarian gun control as described by the commander of the 106th Guards Airborne Division of the Soviet Army. One of the units sent to suppress an anti-Armenian pogrom in Azerbaijan. As told to Carey Schofield, author of “The Russian Elite: Inside SPETSNAZ And The Airborne Forces.”

“We landed by night, and some of our aircraft came under attack as we did so. One carrying personnel from Tula landed with twenty-two holes in the fuselage. The people thronging around the airfield were armed with sub-machine guns, knives and clubs. I went over to the crowd and said, ‘Look! The Army is not a cat to be swung around in the air. Clear the road!’ The KPP (Control and Command Post) of the airfield was blocked with KRAZ and KAMAZ trucks loaded with boulders. People started shouting that we wouldn’t get through. While I was talking to the crowds my sappers were cutting the wire fence about 200 meters to the left and right of the KPP. I gave the crowds five minutes to think things over. They began jeering and laughing. Within five minutes two companies from my Ryazan regiment had crossed through the holes in the wire. The whole crowd was ordered to lie face down. We kept them there all night, to let them think things over. When we told them to clear off, the next morning, nobody wanted to admit that he had come armed. They all just left their weapons behind. So I said, ‘okay, let’s just say we found them’.”

If gun control doesn’t keep firearms out of the hands of criminals (genocidal criminals at that) in Soviet Russia, it is not going to do so in Soviet America.

The fact is that some adherents of what was politely called gun control are in fact the heirs of Adolf Hitler and the National Socialist German Workers Party. As a result it has become very-very-very-easy to predict what an advocate of public disarmament will say. All one has to do is take any mouth dropping of Reichsminister Paul Joseph Goebbels and substitute the words Gun Owner for the word Jew. Yes, it’s that obvious. There’s no such thing as “common sense gun control” those who are in favor of banning firearms are Enemies of Humanity and should be treated in the Nuremberg style, from the neck until dead, and there’s no limit to what a Statist can do to a disarmed victim.

The gun control people are saying that it’s easier to buy firearms than groceries.

      No.

      This is a lie.

Anyone in the State of Minnesota can buy groceries but if you have as much as a misdemeanor on your record forget buying a gun.

The gun control people are lying as usual.

The Left abhors the thought of being judged by their character because they have none. What’s present is the black hole of their lust for power. A desire for control over every aspect of our lives that distorts or destroys everything that comes within their influence. The positive side is that if we don’t drop below their moral event horizon we can escape from their influence. But we will be damaged as a result.

Most Conservatives would be considered radicals in the sixties.

Socialism is simply stone age savagery heavily disguised with a heavy coat of make up.

Woke up to find the news buzzing about the shooting spree in Hanau. I drove through there on Monday night. A 43 year old German killed his mother, went on a shooting spree killing 9 others and then went back to his flat and shot himself. Conisdering the new BMW 5 series he drove away after the act, me thinks he wasn’t poor. Nut job.

The polticians are getting good mileage out of it to blame those they hate. Meh.

Fortunately, being on the West Coast and doing trial prep, I missed the whole thing. I heard snippets on Breitbart News Daily this a.m. on XM.

Seriously Warren – didn’t the Access Hollywood tape and Stormy Daniels teach you nothing? NO ONE is going to give a crap about Bloomberg’s NDA’s in the general. You sounded like an asshat lecturing him. Considering the lies you’ve told, I’m pretty sure there are some NDA’s running around in your background.

And Bernie – 6 years and the earth is done? So, how are you going to get rid of the 50 million plus cars that run on fossil fuel before then. NO ONE gives a crap about climate change – they know it for the fraud it is. Especially when you asshats are flying around in private jets.

The effort, largely executed by Bloomberg’s senior state-level advisers in recent weeks, attempts to prime Bloomberg for a second-ballot contest at the Democratic National Convention in July by poaching supporters of Joe Biden and other moderate Democrats,

yeah. When I was married to my ex I met a lot of people like him (including the ex). They think because they’re so ‘smart’ in one area, it carries over to other areas. Most people are beneath them because most people can’t communicate with them on levels that are anywhere close to equal. In that respect, they can be a lonely crew. They start to view other people as insects who refuse to be directed. I actually got into a screaming match with Donald Johanson (discovered ‘Lucy’) one nite because he was so insulting. And he wasn’t even insulting me, he was insulting Stephen Jay Gould, but I was the one who brought up the subject so I got the direct fire.

I have to run so will read it when I get back. This is a thread by Jake Tapper saying the NYT/Russia report is a ‘mischaracterization’. Ya think?

A national security official I know and trust pushes back on the way the briefing/ODNI story is being told, and others with firsthand knowledge agree with his assessment.

And I think in his heart of hearts, Gavin believed that once Kamala Harris dropped out of the Presidential race, the Democrats were going to come to him, hat in hand, and BEG him to run for President.

There’s a credible recall campaign being waged on him right now.

Gavin lives in the little bubble that has no concept of the fact that California is a laughingstock anywhere that isn’t New York City of the State of Massachusetts. He honestly thinks he’s got potential as a national figure.

In other news, lyin’ Joe, fresh off the “Corn Pop” exaggerations and fiction, now tries a new tactic to ingratiate himself with Blacks – “I got arrested going to meet Nelson Mandela….”

      Man: About 20 years

Lady: 3 beers a day equates to $450 per month or $5400 per year.In 20 years
      that’s $108,000

      Man: That sounds about right

      just a small local story

      https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8025179/Prison-reform-advocate-arrested-mass-jailbreak-plot-hiding-huge-stockpile-weapons.html

He was well-known in Tennessee as an advocate for prisoner rights and had even consulted Senator Bernie Sanders’ office on a bill against private prisons

Further searches also revealed three loaded guns and further escape tools hidden in the detention center.

On one of the days, Friedmann allegedly stole keys from the control room. The loss of keys and the discovery of the key chit is believed to have compromised the safety of the whole jail and will require all 2,000 locks to be refitted before it can safely open.

      From that article:

… should be free from interference,” Swalwell explained. “The voters voted for that in 2018 when they gave us the midterm election, that they wanted more oversight of the elections.”

So, when you win by cheating, that is an election “free from Russian interference” and the voters wanted you to have more oversight of elections despite your refusal to purge voter roles and opposition to voter ID.
