Comments and respectful debate are both welcome and encouraged.

Comments are the sole opinion of the comment writer, just as each thread posted is the sole opinion or post idea of the administrator that posted it or of the readers that have written guest posts for the Blogmocracy.

Obscene, abusive, or annoying remarks may be deleted or moved to spam for admin review, but the fact that particular comments remain on the site in no way constitutes an endorsement of their content by any other commenter or the admins of this Blogmocracy.

We're not easily offended and don't want people to think they have to walk on eggshells around here (like at another place that shall remain nameless) but of course, there is a limit to everything.

Play nice!

Aussie epidemiologist calculate that currently infection rates in China at 50,000 new cases a day and a much higher death rate than forecast because secondary pneumonia cases have NOT been counted officially as well as a lowball total infection numbers.

Mortality as high as 18% amongst the elderly and a mean mortality between 8 and 10% across demographics.

Xi has determined that Southern Chinese industries will restart production no matter what because production has totally cratered because Moon Festival holiday returnee workers stand at just 40% so far.

I’ve heard that Himmler speech. IIRC, that recording was never supposed to get out.

I think one of the reasons the mortality rate is going to be high(er) in China is because of the crap air pollution. 2 other places I know have really bad air – just about every city in Italy – and Madrid. It was ungodly when I was there back in the 80s and I’m told it’s not really great now. Somebody on another blog said they spent 3 days in Venice last year. She and her husband played a game – find a gondola w/no asians in it. They couldn’t. She said Chinese were all over the place.

And – the price point at which I buy Amazon stock just got a lot lower. Peter Navarro did an interview w/Daily Caller on what’s in the hopper. Look at this little gem.

Though Chinese manufacturers are the chief source of intellectual property theft, Navarro made clear that the White House ultimately plans to reform the law so that e-commerce platforms will be legally liable for the sale of those counterfeit goods to American citizens.

Global Stock Market Plunge Over Coronavirus Fears Followed SWIFT Liquidity Warnings

The Feb. 24 stock market plunge has been blamed on the coronavirus, but the SWIFT network that handles half of high-value cross-border payments issued a global liquidity warning prior to the crash.

Although early morning trading on Feb. 25 saw stocks rebound from their 4 percent losses in the prior day, shares plunged by over 3 percent by the end of New York trading. The Zero Hedge blog reported that Morgan Stanley had advised its clients that systematic selling from data-driven investment pools “could soar to $60 billion.”

The Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT) held ‘FX Day’ for its network of over 11,000 financial institutions from 200 countries and territories in London on Sept. 23. Its expert speakers warned that even though foreign exchange transaction volumes had dramatically increased in recent years, fewer banks were actually willing to take principal credit risk to provide market liquidity.

Moderator Gavin Wells stated that the annual Bank for International Settlements (BIS) global central banks survey found that transaction turnover, which has historically been identified as “a rough proxy for liquidity, was at an all-time high;” while the total amount of credit available to transactional markets (that had actually shrunk due to post-Global Financial Crisis reforms) require financial institutions to increase capital reserves.

Wells highlighted that a deeper inspection of the BIS 2019 foreign exchange (FX) survey data revealed that the “top five banks accounted for about half of daily turnover.” As a result, most banks in SWIFT’s network “now source liquidity for buy-side clients from other banks, rather than publish a firm bid and offer process of their own.”

Turkey has decided to immediately open its southern border with Syria and allow Syrian refugees free passage to Europe for the next 72 hours, Turkish official sources told Middle East Eye.

A senior Turkish official said Syrian refugees destined to Europe won’t be stopped either on land or by sea.

The official said Ankara ordered police, gendarmerie, border guards and sea guards to stand down on Thursday, if they detected any Syrian refugees trying to cross into Europe.

Good morning. I started seeing ‘stuff’ yesterday evening, now there’s more ‘stuff’ and it looks like Erdogan and Putin are in a pissing match

Apparently a Syrian regime airstrike took out some Turkish military around Idlib. I’ve seen various numbers, from 27 to 33 troops.

For some reason, Erdogan decided to open the borders so Syrian refugees could cross into Europe and gave orders to let them leave for the next 72 hours. I’m not sure what this is supposed to accomplish, but there you go………I’m not great with maps, but I see places like Bulgaria and Serbia, Greece and Hungary. Hungary is definitely not going to let them in, Greece probably wont’ I have no idea what this is going to do and I haven’t heard how many, if any, ‘refugees’ have actually left.

Then he called Robt O’Brien, (Nat’l Sec advisor) apparently asking for some kind of help or just to give him a heads up. Because the next thing he did was call Putin to tell him ‘game on, we’ll be targeting your people’

So these are the dots, somebody else is going to have to connect them.
