Day 6 of the Great American Lock-down

by coldwarrior ( 103 Comments › )
Filed under Uncategorized at March 21st, 2020 - 9:02 am

Our governor is about to double down and try to enforce his lock-down to destroy the economy and ruin the deplorables.

My hospital system is still doing elective surgeries but has less patients than we did a month a ago during flu. Mrs Coldwarrior’s system decided to cancel all elective surgeries. Her phone rang this AM. For the first time in her long and illustrious career as an RN, she was told to stay home as there are not enough patients to fill the beds in her Level 1 trauma center.

The CEO of our system had a press conference where he basically said, The governor does not run our hospitals and take care of our patients, we will remain at normal operations until we need to put the emergency plain in place. The little Trotskyites are up in arms!

I think that the governor is going to get it for this.

…update…

https://triblive.com/local/regional/western-pa-authorities-unclear-about-enforcement-of-gov-wolfs-shutdown-order/

i wonder what his polling data says.

As our oil and gas service company was poring over the arbitrary list Thursday to see if we needed to shut down or not, we noticed that coal miners and their support industries were on the list.

Yeah that got reversed pretty quick…

how are you supposed to make electricity without coal in PA?

    @ coldwarrior:

I believe hotels were also on the original list, although now they’re saying that by listing “travel accommodations” that isn’t what they meant…

When our company sought clarification, the state told them that “hotels that housed workers” would be exempt.

I would hazard a guess that most of the hotel rooms occupied in the state are by people doing business.

It wouldn’t surprise me if the people who developed the list think that coal miners are all huddled together in a shaft with picks and kerosene lamps.

This is a very good piece on how to think about the numbers/metrics. (I think you may have to set up an acct, but it’s free and medium is a very good platform). I haven’t had time to read the whole thing, but thought I’d pass it on

    https://medium.com/six-four-six-nine/evidence-over-hysteria-covid-19-1b767def5894

Rank ordering based on the total number of cases shows that the US on a per-capita basis is significantly lower than the top six nations by case volume. On a 1 million citizen per-capita basis, the US moves to above mid-pack of all countries and rising, with similar case volume as Singapore (385 cases), Cyprus (75 cases), and United Kingdom(3,983 cases). This is data as of March 20th, 2020.

Trending: Out-of-control teenagers coughing on grocery store produce

Idle teenagers are participating in a “disturbing trend” of coughing on grocery store produce and posting their pranks online as the nation fights the coronavirus, which is known to spread from human “droplets” spraying from mouths.

The latest incident occurred in the Washington exurb of Purcellville, Virginia, some 55 miles from the White House.

According to a Purcellville Police Department report, “An incident occurred at a local grocery store involving juveniles reportedly coughing on produce, while filming themselves and posting it on social media.”

The report said that the store, identified on social media as Harris Teeter, immediately removed the items and cleaned up the area. The police said, “The grocery store immediately removed the items in question, and has taken appropriate measures to ensure the health of store patrons.”

On a community Facebook page, one woman who said she witnessed the event wrote, “Punk teenagers are hitting the grocery stores, coughing all over the produce and the grocery items — filming it and posting it to YouTube. It scared the hell out of one elderly woman who was just trying to grocery shop. Why the hell aren’t these people keeping their teens home??? This is not summer vacay!”

The police investigating the case said that there is a national trend by teenagers to cough on food and film it.

The riot we had yesterday was apparently sparked by coronavirus panic. There was one inmate in each of the two pods that rioted who had some sort of fever and went to medical. Both were evaluated and sent back to their pods. It should be fairly obvious that if someone had it in a locked room with 63 other people, everyone else would get it, but inmates aren’t known for their reasoning abilities.

Anyway, one of them went back and told the entire pod that he had the virus and that medical refused to do anything for him, because the state’s plan is to kill off all the inmates.

    Things went downhill from there…

Here is what I hear: If you’re relatively young and healthy you’ll probably survive but the number of people who need to be hospitalized is going to overwhelm the system.

People who get the flu rarely end up in the hospital ALL AT THE SAME TIME.

Every time these people talk, it’s about the system being overwhelmed. In Oregon? No, prolly not. NYC? Guaranteed.

Harvey Weinstein Tests Positive for the Coronavirus

Convicted rapist Harvey Weinstein has tested positive for the Wuhan coronavirus. The 68-year-old, who is reportedly experiencing several health disorders, is currently in isolation at New York’s Wende Correctional Facility. Individuals over the age of 60 who have underlying health issues are said to be most vulnerable to the effects of the COVID-19 virus.

Weinstein was sentenced earlier this month to 23 years behind bars after being found guilty of third-degree rape and first-degree sexual assault. Weinstein was transferred from Rikers Island Jail in New York City to Wende Correctional Facility for processing into the state’s prison system, CNHI state reporter Joe Mahoney reported. It was at the Wende Facility, during medical and mental examinations, that Weinstein tested positive for the Wuhan coronavirus. One other inmate at the Wende facility has also tested positive for the virus. Harvey Weinstein is currently in isolation. Variety reports the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision confirmed that out of 43,000 inmates statewide, only two cases at the Wendy facility have been confirmed.

The Dems killed the relief pkg. McConnell is furious, he gave a blistering speech on the floor. 5 bi-partisan groups working on this for the last 48 hours and then the Dem leadership shows up and kills it.

Futures are down on the news. Any bets on who shorted the market?

Tanks aren’t very effective for quelling riots and such, anyway. Your first choice would be MPs, then light infantry. Tanks look scary, but unless you’re planning on blowing up buildings or running over cars with them, what good are they in that situation? Yeah, you can use a few as roadblocks, but you don’t need a whole trainload.

    Yup.

Go ask all of those Russian tankers who eyeballed the Hungarians in 1956. All the tankers did was get ambushed by children with molotov cocktails and machine gun a few who didn’t get away.

I went to school with one of the kids. He was 8 years old and his brother was 15. His brother got machine gunned down and the 8 year old helped to burn out a T-62.

Did you see the model of the population spread and the overwhelming of the health systems?

    NY has acquired:
    – 70,000 Hydroxychloroquine
    – 10,000 Zithromax
    – 750,000 Chloroquine

    From the Federal Government.

    Trials will start Tuesday.

    https://twitter.com/bennyjohnson/status/1241749428492537864

Do NOT forget that 500 mg / day Hydrochloroquine alone knocks down 60% of virus cases in 5 days and it takes a lot longer to get the remaining 40%. Mix it with Azithromycin 500mg day 1 and then 250mg days 2-5 and you get a 100% cure rate.

Even if the statistically accurate French study is total BS the two drugs in themselves are mostly without side effects, they are very cheap (the chloroquine retails at 5 cents a 500 mg tab)so for a buck a cure what is there to lose?

    Seriously folks! WHAT?

Level #3 here in NZ with the first cases of community contagious transmission. Warning that the government is going to the final Stage #4 Wednesday (48 hours) when the whole shebang shuts down. Schools shut tomorrow. We are in Auckland getting the last stuff sorted and bills paid.Everything we need is down at our bolt hole at the beach. Tomorrow we head down south before the travel restrictions come into play.

Military / Police joint patrols set to ensure movement is restricted to visits to the store, gas station,
pharmacy. Son is working hard with the police. Some ‘genius’ mixed with two known infected guys, had a beer with them then went to work and compromised a whole Police unit. 14 Cops now in isolation until Wednesday when they will be given priority testing and if clear can get back to work. I hope that the offending ‘plod’ gets his balls put through a mangle by his sergeant!

    @ Aussie Infidel:

when the drug starts getting dispensed next week – actually I think they’re already using it in Boston – this will calm down. I suspect the problem will be people already using it for current conditions – like lobo for his arthritis – might have a hard time getting their normal scripts.

I just got an email from my pharmacy that they were now clearing us all for 90-day scripts for on-going conditions instead of the usual 30.

I’m going to bed. Stay safe.

    Nah!

This one was a analogue model that you construct yourself out of a big coke bottle a small coke bottle and a bucket of water.

Big bottle top cut off and small hole punched in the lower side and another larger hole in the bottom.

Small Bottle top cut off turned upside down and the neck poked through the hole in the bottom of the big bottle and glued in place

Pour water (population) into the open end of the big bottle until water reaches the top lip of cut upside down little bottle…… Health system operating at fill tilt.

Water pouring from the side of the big bottle …. recovering infected

Overflow over the lip of the little bottle partial failure of the health system as cases miss getting into the little bottle and pour out through the bottom hole untreated.

When water level reached the top lip of the large bottle …. systemic failure

The idea is to keep the water level just below the lip of the small bottle

You can do this by restricting the inflow from the bucket (social distancing, hygiene, masks etc) OR building higher walls in the small upside down bottle ( analgesics, increasing medical personnel capacity (?) , etc)

Makes the model clear for getting analgesics into the system fast, and moving VERY fast in reducing contact contagion.

You’re correct. They are already dispensing in Boston and NYC.

This is why the UK restricted all movement of chloroquine out of the country 7 days ago!

We’ve known for at least 10 days, maybe 20. I posted the paper here, I forget if the date was Mar 3 or Mar 13.

And one more thing before I forget. I gather people – some people – are a bit peeved w/Fauci.

I’m not going to try to persuade anybody differently. I will just state the case why I’m not.

    1. He loves/loved Hillary.

Yeah, I don’t give a fuck. I do not see one piece of evidence that it has influenced how he does his job.

    2. He doesn’t like Trump

Yeah, I don’t give a fuck. I don’t see one piece of evidence that it has influenced how he does his job.

1 and 2 are not statements I necessarily agree with, I’m just putting the arguments against him out there.

    nite.

This isn’t the best part, but it’s the most important part of Schlicter’s most recent.

Our elite has contributed nothing to this fight, except self-serving lies, cheesy power grabs, and terrible covers of the worst song ever recorded, “Imagine”. As usual, as always, our salvation comes from you, the normal American who sees a challenge and meets it. We had a paradise, and in paradise, you can indulge in silliness like multi-culti blather and meaningless virtue signaling. But things just got real. We have no time for that crap now. The elite who imagine themselves indispensable to the world that normal people built, run, and defend, are being revealed as useless and ridiculous just when things got serious. We won’t forget how much they suck when this ends.

Yeah, trying pronoun-shaming after this and see how many nano-seconds it takes to get punched in the throat.
