We're not easily offended and don't want people to think they have to walk on eggshells around here (like at another place that shall remain nameless) but of course, there is a limit to everything.

I have no idea what this is about. The article says it’s an FDA approved study. It looks like the docs in Wuhan figured this out
New York hospitals are quietly testing HEARTBURN drug Pepcid as treatment for COVID-19 and will know whether it’s effective in ‘a few weeks’
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8259377/New-York-hospitals-quietly-testing-heartburn-drug-famotidine-Pepcid-treatment-COVID-19.html
They discovered that the poor elderly people had a higher survival rate. The poor patients used famotidine because it was cheaper than omeprazole. Famotidine is sold under the brand name Pepcid and omeprazole is sold as Prilosec.
In a review of 6,212 medical records, with many patients on ventilators, the doctors in China found that only 14 percent of the elderly people using famotidine died while 27 percent of elderly people on omeprazole passed away.
Scientists suspect that in COVID-19, famotidine binds to the papainlike protease, an enzyme which helps viruses replicate in the body and stops them replicating.

Tyson Foods takes out full-page ad: ‘The food supply chain is breaking’
Tyson Foods executives said in a full-page ad published Sunday that the closure of food-processing plants due to the coronavirus is “breaking” the supply chain.
In a full-page ad published in The New York Times, The Washington Post and the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, board chairman John Tyson wrote that “the food supply chain is breaking,” saying farmers will be left without anywhere to sell livestock and “millions of animals — chickens, pigs and cattle — will be depopulated because of the closure of our processing facilities.”
“There will be limited supply of our products available in grocery stores until we are able to reopen our facilities that are currently closed,” he added.

The left is loving this live test of Cloward Piven and have no plans to let it go easily. Even more conservative Democrat Governors like the one in Wyoming are using the term “new normal” trying to get people used to the idea so they can continue using these asinine policies far beyond when they are necessary. The left has sabotaged the economy and is well aware that it will rebound with FORCE once they release their grip on it. So the only solution is to NOT release their grip. This is all about winning the election for Slow Joe right now.

Poultry have an extra-ordinarily tight “best by” date for slaughtering. Tyson owns all those birds in any case, and they don’t wish to feed them.
With pigs, the slaughter window is a bit wider, but they, well, eat like pigs. On a family farm with a few hogs for local sale you can shift their food mix to slow ’em down, but not in the standard commercial operations.
Beef cattle (and bison) have loads of manoeuvrability, especially going into grazing season, particularly for family farms. Feedlot cattle are another deal, and they’re probably going to be eating a bunch of shredded paper — yes they can digest it — to keep feed costs down. Good time to by *local* beef or hogs.
We’re also starting to see all sorts of **packaging** supply issues for produce and even things as banal as flour and oatmeal. Things are very fragile, intercalated, and interdependent.

guess what? I think I just found our dream house in Knoxville. I’m trying to get down there on Friday to see it for myself, will be staying with Mafia Princess.
It looks like a little cottage in a fairy tale. 12 years old. I’m stunned. Definitely not what we set out looking for but as soon as I saw it, I just…stopped.
Fake news.
https://nypost.com/2020/04/27/manhattan-er-doc-lorna-breen-commits-suicide-shaken-by-coronavirus/
She was an ER doctor. Probably never saw regular heart attack victims taken out of an ambulance when technically dead but brought to ER so a doctor could certify them dead. Or any traffic accident victims who did not quite have all their peripheral body parts attached. That is traumatic to see. Not an 80 year old gasping for breath. That is sad, not traumatic.
Also same article.
An EMT kills himself because he treated and transported sick COVID patients. Critically ill patients but all in one piece. Transporting patients torn up and shredded and squirting blood all over him didn’t bother him?
Yeah I worked in ER and emergency OR.
Children victims of violence or traffic accidents got to me. Not regular heart attacks and old people.
@ Possum:
yeah, I saw the story about the rookie EMT. My niece and her husband ARE EMTs and she said it was bullshit. “It’s the kids that get to you, not this”.
@ eaglesoars:
Yep, the kids…. Got me.
A multi-millionaire in Oz buys 23 million doses of HydroxyChloroquine GIVES it to the Australian government to treat people who request it . The MSM refuse to even touch the story. The government stores the drug in it’s warehouses and hopes that everyone will just forget.
Some do forget so he takes out a full page ad in a national newspaper to try to shame the government into doing something or at lease admit that has enough of the drug to treat the 20% of the population under most threat.
Something smells here. A supposed small ‘c’ conservative government is embarrassed about something and does not even have the good grace to thank a member of the public for his largess. Either Morrison the Prime Minister is just another socialist dressed in conservative drag like s many others who have sold out for the mighty dollar and a place amongst the so called ‘elite’.

I’ll send you an email w/the link to the house. You don’t have to like it, I don’t care. I like it. There’s some work that needs to be done – take carpet out, whoever did the master bathroom needs to be put out of their misery – but nothing MAJOR major. Did Trump order the meat processors to stay open under the Defense Protection Act or something? I just heard a partial report, not sure what I heard.

I don’t know, but last week the local affiliates were warning about a meat shortage three days in a row.
Tyson taking out full page ads is clearly a move to influence public sentiment, as they have plenty of lobbying power inside.
There are real problems, for sure. But it also looks to me like some people really want a run on meat.
CW has noted this shutdown is killing small hospital systems.
I have to imagine it’s also doing in what’s left of small banks.

The FDA tries to regulate backpacks, etc because they have pockets for concealing vaping gear
The products being targeted by the FDA include:
Backpacks and sweatshirts designed with stealth pockets to hold and conceal an e-cigarette
Vaping products that resemble smartwatches or children’s toys such as a portable video game system or fidget spinner
vaping liquids that imitate packaging for food products that often are marketed and appeal to youth, such as candy, or feature cartoon characters like SpongeBob SquarePants.

I emailed you the link to the listing so you can see it. It’s a pretty little place, whitewashed brick with arched windows. GREAT fenced in yard for the girls, nice neighborhood with mature trees, quiet, not fancy. Because it’s a bit older, the lot sizes are bigger than the new developments so that’s how we lucked out on the yard. I think it’s about a third of an acre and FLAT, which is almost a miracle for Knoxville. The house is 12 yrs old, not bad. It was a bit more than we set out to pay originally, but even a 6 ft wood fence around the yard that large would have made my eyes bleed. This is a nice wrought iron deal that we could never have afforded. I’m still in shock.

I understand the first amendment, kind of.
It basically states you can say what the fuck you want. However it does not protect you from an angry mob that objects to what you say and burns your house down.
Also, some thinks do not need to be said publicly. National security and all that other stuff. Some secrets need to be withheld from the masses for national security. Not withheld forever but kept secret until the embargo on reporting is lifted after there is no danger to the country as a whole once the information is released.
The USA has “freedom of the press”
In the UK there is such a thing as a “D Notice”
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DSMA-Notice
Now what is my point?
If there was such a thing as a “D Notice” in the USA it should be used as an advisory to meat packing plants to SHUT THE FUCK UP!
They are causing panic buying of meat and guess what else? Freezers!!!
I like the USA, do not get me wrong here, but sometimes this place is nuts. Sometimes as in now.

Contact tracing? Now how is this going to be any use at all.
As an example, say I just got tested positive for Chinese Flu today. How are they going to trace where I got it and who I have been in contact with while being an asymptomatic carrier?
