Time to end this.

Obscene, abusive, or annoying remarks may be deleted or moved to spam for admin review, but the fact that particular comments remain on the site in no way constitutes an endorsement of their content by any other commenter or the admins of this Blogmocracy.

We're not easily offended and don't want people to think they have to walk on eggshells around here (like at another place that shall remain nameless) but of course, there is a limit to everything.

Play nice!

    Good Morning
Mayor Frey of Minneapolis encourages the rioters to socially distance and wear masks, you know riot responsibly.
Maybe next he will advise them to get sleep and eat a balanced diet to be all the rioter that you can be.

    @ RIX:

I’m beyond tired of this police/race riot cycle.

I certainly do not side with the officers and think they should be investigated. If there’s no more context to that video, they should be charged with some type of homicide.

But this is beyond tired. It’s 2020, I’m almost 45 yo, and this has been happening most of my life.

It’s become painfully clear to me that we cannot culturally “come together.” Shitting where you eat, then setting fire to the shit isn’t acceptable or “healthy angst.” Not even for toddlers.

Holy cow. Leading conservatives are coming to Parler en masse. Dan Bongino, David Webb, hell, I even found MILO.

President Trump is being urged to open a Parler account. He should. That would stick it to Twitter but good. All media would have open their own accounts to see what he’s saying.

Keep the Twitter account, but just say “check out what I just said on Parler”.

Apparently at least one of those officers has had numerous issues in the past, and about 10 years ago Amy Klobuchar declined to prosecute him for shooting a Native American.

Parler is much better. You have 1000 characters to play with. Navigating is a little confusing at first. But at least you can read a thread without 1,000 liberals with TDS commenting, all the while clinging to their Russian Colooooshun fantasies. Give it a go, Bunk.

If this were people on the right who had this kind of act perpetrated on them, they would not be going after those who had nothing to do with the injustice. The people responsible and any government leaders would be the target of their ire if they could not get justice through the legal system. Even at its most base, that would be a civilized reaction.

  14. 15 | May 29, 2020 12:45 pm

I stayed up late last night reading the Iron Fist saga — it read like a novel, except for being all too real. I always knew he was a tough guy, who prided himself on his toughness, and to be honest, I always thought that part of his online persona was a little overblown. Now I see that was an essential part of him, and he’d earned it. I’ve had parents, other relatives, and friends fight cancer, with some walking away from it, and others not, but nobody I’ve ever seen has fought any more bravely and optimistically to the end as this man. Thinking of his last bike ride, taking “the long way” with his beautiful, loving wife behind him, has the dust around here getting into my eyes again. Long may you ride, man.

I never realized how book-smart he was, especially about political history. He managed to stuff a lot of good education in, between bar fights. Anyone who can do coding and get paid for it, is a lot smarter than me. I enjoyed reading the “old” political arguments leading up to the 2016 election, with all the NeverTrump stuff that drove a serious wedge into the conservative side. Things got a little heated around here, I see. I was also very skeptical of Trump right up until his nomination became inevitable, and then I took a good look at him and how he was driving the Idiot Left even more insane. I started liking him more and more. I think Iron Fist was headed in that direction, too, unlike the people who are still wallowing in their Never Trumpness. Hey! Get over it, you guys. lol

I also appreciated his description of his long and varied martial arts career— I’ve also done a lot of that, starting in my 20’s with a very traditional Korean TKD master who’d started teaching American GIs in Korea during the war. I got to my blue belt with that school, before the time-constraints excuse allowed me to stop. I was forty by the time I earned my first black belt, in an Americanized version of TKD that incorporated a lot more boxing-skills, and keeping your mitts up, to protect your face. Fine innovations, imho. I never got the chance to study any weapons like IF did, which I regret. He was way more into the practical application of the fighting arts, whereas I’m mostly into it for the fitness and discipline. Now the only fighting I do is against a heavy bag, and my own slothful tendencies.

Anyway, thanks again for posting his self-written story. I’d put it up against any other cancer memoir I’ve read, which are quite a few. Anyone remember, “Death Be Not Proud?” That was the first such story I ever read, when one of my much-older sisters laid it down after struggling through it for school. She was sobbing while reading it, so of course I had to see what the fuss was. It wrecked me, too. As did “Love Story,” a few years later.

This is the John Donne poem that the author used for the title of his book — I think Iron Fist would have agreed with the sentiments expressed. Donne was a brilliant poet, and a very religious man, in the best sense. Fist wanted to study more and become a minister, and he would have made a great one.

    ———————————————-

Holy Sonnets: Death, be not proud
    BY JOHN DONNE

Death, be not proud, though some have called thee
    Mighty and dreadful, for thou art not so;
For those whom thou think’st thou dost overthrow
Die not, poor Death, nor yet canst thou kill me.
From rest and sleep, which but thy pictures be,
Much pleasure; then from thee much more must flow,
And soonest our best men with thee do go,
Rest of their bones, and soul’s delivery.
Thou art slave to fate, chance, kings, and desperate men,
And dost with poison, war, and sickness dwell,
And poppy or charms can make us sleep as well
And better than thy stroke; why swell’st thou then?
One short sleep past, we wake eternally
And death shall be no more; Death, thou shalt die.

Agreed, I want the cops to have due process, but if that vide tells the whole story there needs to be some serious
Jail time. The guy said that he couldn’t breathe and the cop would not let up. The other three did not intervene.

Iron Fist was one of a kind. I learned early on that if I contradicted him on anything a fact-smackdown was coming. After that, I steered clear, but read his every post.

But Dr Fauci said that masks work I believe after he said that they didn’t.
He also said that 2 million Americans would die and the walked it back.
He also advised Trumpto lock down based on the models, but now smears the models.
He als “guaranteed that the virus would roar back, but now says no one knows.
Whether the masks work or not it has become a. form of virtue signaling and going all Karen on the other guy.
I do not trust anything that they are saying anymore, but social distancing does make sense.
Just sick of the scare tactics.

That was Chauvin. I think there was something like four/five “excessive force” complaints in his record and he was involved in two police shootings.

  22. 23 | May 29, 2020 1:49 pm

    @ Bunk X:

Hopefully they’re NEXT. I have a buddy down the street, retired Richmond P.D. that walks his dog every night. I saw him last night and he was just disgusted by both the behavior of the police officers involved and the rioters.

In full disclosure, he is Black. But he said it amazed him that NOT ONE of those officers didn’t yell “what the hell are your doing” and shoved Chauvin off of Mr. Floyd. He said that you place your knee across the top of the shoulders and only then to secure the handcuffs. NOT FOR 8 MINUTES.

He was a good thinker and knew his stuff. He was also able to admit when someone else was better-versed in a particular area, and concede a point here and there.

I think it was easier for me to read his story in a couple of big chunks, knowing the approximate ending, than it would have been to follow it in real time. Not that it was really easy — I wanted to jump in there with a big bottle of liquid morphine a few times.

Here’s a feel good story for you….because I think we can all use one (although it starts out sad).

K.B. Balla was caught on video visibly upset because looters destroyed the sports bar he had been working on and was planning to open right before the COVID lockdown. He knew the lockdown was going to delay his opening but he was doing everything he could to persevere.

Then the rioters burned it down. A GoFundMe page to help him rebuild was started yesterday, with a goal of $100,000 to help him keep his dream alive.

As of right now, the total donated is $146,000. And I’m pretty damned sure many of those donations came from those evil Trump supporters. I’m in for $50 myself.

OMG. This is from the Last Refuge, and OMG do I wish I was this clever:

“After an extensive study and review by local scientists and public officials, you can go to a barber shop and/or beauty salon and get your “hair styled”, as long as the ‘styling’ doesn’t involve the actual cutting of the hair. Apparently, in phase-1 the COVID virus can identify when scissors are present and the virus will attack with increased severity.

You can go to a church, as long as the going to church doesn’t involve the actual going into a building that would be identified as a church. Worship services can only be provided outdoors, because the virus lurks in the building…… unless the building contains vegetables and is called a supermarket, and then the virus cannot enter the premises.

According to the local scientists who have analyzed the risks, you can now wash your car; however, it is only safe to wash the outside of the car. If you attempt to clean the inside of your vehicle the virus will hunt you. Interior car cleaning is forbidden. No actual word on how you get your vehicle to a car wash without being inside it… but minor details are still a work in progress and will likely be addressed in phase-2.

You are now permitted to open retail businesses, but you cannot sell things from inside retail businesses. Apparently the Maryland officials have discovered the virus is building and content specific. Therefore retail sales can safely happen at the curbside of the building; but patrons are forbidden from entering the establishment.

Purchasing a new pair of pants becomes less dangerous when the pants are not in a building. Unless, duh, the building sells vegetables and pants, and then the virus doesn’t attack the pant purchaser because they are protected by the surrounding vegetables.

You are allowed to open and attend daycare and summer camps, as long as the camps remain outside. During phase-1 of the opening, if a spring and/or summer storm starts, it is less dangerous to run around dodging lightning strikes outside – than if you were to enter a building or cabin where the virus is waiting to attack.

Given the hair salon scissor restrictions, in combination with rules for summer camps, running with construction scissors outside while dodging lightning is another undefined detail. However, if you happen to be picking vegetables, you are immune from being attacked. Vegetable picking inside or outside with scissors is therefore allowed.

Restaurants are allowed to open, but again all actual eating of food must take place outdoors. To accommodate this safe dining approach, restaurants are encouraged to put all their tables in the street.

The Montgomery County dept. of transportation is organizing road closures to assist with the roadway dining. So you might not be able to drive to where the restaurants are, but the outdoor dining experience should justify hiking to your table for the asphalt ambience.

Found a sticker on the back that said “For professional repairmen only.” Took off the sticker and lo and behold it was a temperature control screw with clearly labeled instructions, lol. Turned it down about three levels and plugged it back in. Going to see how that does.

I had serious doubts about Trump’s candidacy, but as we got closer to the election he definitely came across more and more as the real deal and my mind was changed. Until rather late in the game, I didn’t take him seriously. I adored him because he just pissed off the media and I thought it was hilarious, great entertainment. Then came a particular debate. Maybe about 6 people left. As the panelists called each candidate out, Trump and Dr. Ben Carson were left. You could tell from the podium set-up that Carson should have been called already but wasn’t. They called Trump but Trump wouldn’t go onstage. The backstage cameras showed him ushering out Dr Carson instead, he wouldn’t leave him standing there, alone and forgotten.

THAT is when I started paying attention.

I had serious doubts about Trump’s candidacy, but as we got closer to the election he definitely came across more and more as the real deal and my mind was changed. I had a co-worker ask me (also conservative) if I thought Trump would keep his promises. My answer was “I don’t know, but unlike every candidate before him, I think he will honestly TRY.”

I’m really glad you guys have kept in touch with IF’s wife— I know they met on LGF, from his “book,” but it wasn’t clear if she was active here.

I will have to stand by my statement about him being late to the Trump party, which I don’t hold against him or anyone else (not that anyone cares). I still didn’t think he had a chance of winning the general at the time Fist passed, but I was dreading like the fires of Hell the screechy, horrible alternative. I was never in love with Cruz, either, like so many conservatives were. I don’t need a tingle up my leg to get behind a politician, but there is a basic level of likability and charisma that Cruz didn’t quite manage. Trump was and still is an obnoxious fellow in many ways, but “he fights,” like nobody we’ve ever seen in the Republican Party. All the boasting, preening, and self-laudatory hyperbolic accolades he is not shy about broadcasting directly to the people on social media, speeches and press briefings, just serve to inspire more support from us Deplorables, and more howling rage from the Idiot Left.

We get him now. It’s not a mystery anymore how this crass individual has managed to enter and dominate one snakepit after another, from New York City real estate development, to NYC high society, to television, and now the slitheringest hellpit of all of them, in DC.

Who could have foreseen all that? Not me, that’s for sure.

I can appreciate both spiders and snakes, without any strong feelings of a judgmental nature. Spiders are incredible animals, when you look at all the things they do. At the same, you have to kill them in your house at every opportunity unless you want them to take over completely. I let a house centipede handle most of that, but in the spring, it’s usually me, as they are being very fruitful and multiplying.

Snakes in Michigan are harmless, aside from a small, rare rattler that lives in the woods Up North. Snakes are basically digestive systems covered in skin. I hear they’re quite tasty, but I’ve never eaten one.

I remember that. It got ugly and fast. It was really sad.

I could be wrong – shocker, I know – but I wonder if these riots might rebound to votes for Trump. Somehow, I don’t think this is going to go over well.

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot on Friday had some choice letters for President Trump: “F” and “U.”

Ms. Lightfoot was firing back against Mr. Trump over comments he made regarding the protests in Minnesota that erupted after the death of George Floyd, which has renewed a national conversation over race and policing.

“I will code what I really want to say to Donald Trump. It’s two words. It begins with F and it ends with U,” Ms. Lightfoot, who is black, said at a news conference.

I’m pretty sure a lot of the businesses are owned by blacks and I think they’re way too smart to not understand exactly where this is coming from.

I saw that, in the book. Lots of references to a certain couple of people who took his ascendancy very, very hard. I got to read IF’s responses to you on the topic, but usually your side was limited to a sentence quoted in his post. He was always polite and reasonable about your differences, but he was definitely not a fan of the current President.

I never got involved in the political viciousness, at any of the blogs I read. Weasel Zippers and Ace of Spades, etc. I guess I just don’t enjoy parsing the minutiae of candidate’s agendas that are usually quite disposable, once they’re elected. I kept watching Trump handle himself with such confidence and eff-you attitude, and came to like him more and more. By the time he won the nomination, I was in.

Pentagon puts military police on alert to go to Minneapolis

As unrest spread across dozens of American cities on Friday, the Pentagon took the rare step of ordering the Army to put several active-duty U.S. military police units on the ready to deploy to Minneapolis, where the police killing of George Floyd sparked the widespread protests.

Soldiers from Fort Bragg in North Carolina and Fort Drum in New York have been ordered to be ready to deploy within four hours if called, according to three people with direct knowledge of the orders. Soldiers in Fort Carson, in Colorado, and Fort Riley in Kansas have been told to be ready within 24 hours. The people did not want their names used because they were not authorized to discuss the preparations.

The get-ready orders were sent verbally on Friday, after President Donald Trump asked Defense Secretary Mark Esper for military options to help quell the unrest in Minneapolis after protests descended into looting and arson in some parts of the city.

Trump made the request on a phone call from the Oval Office on Thursday night that included Esper, National Security Advisor Robert O’ Brien and several others. The president asked Esper for rapid deployment options if the Minneapolis protests continued to spiral out of control, according to one of the people, a senior Pentagon official who was on the call.

”When the White House asks for options, someone opens the drawer and pulls them out so to speak.” the official said.

The person said the military units would be deployed under the Insurrection Act of 1807, which was last used in 1992 during the riots in Los Angeles that followed the Rodney King trial.

The Posse Comitatus Act, which passed after the Civil War to keep federal troops from policing the South, limits federal troops’ deployment on U.S. soil and forbids using them to enforce domestic laws. The President can deploy troops if there’s an insurrection or invasion on U.S. soil.

A Federal Protective Services officer has been killed in protests after two officers suffered gunshot wounds in California.

Two Federal Protective Service officers were shot during a protest in Oakland in California on Friday night, police told CNN. One of the officers died from his injuries.

Protests raged for a fourth night across the US, sparked by the death of African-American man George Floyd, who was allegedly killed by white police officer Derek Chauvin. State and federal authorities are investigating Mr Floyd’s death, and Chauvin has been charged with third degree murder and manslaughter.

“Two Federal Protective Services officers stationed at the Oakland Down Town Federal Building suffered gunshot wounds. Unfortunately, one succumbed to his injury,” the police department said in a statement.

The Federal Protective Service is controlled by the US Department of Homeland Security and secures government buildings. The report said arrests had occurred in Oakland but didn’t provide specific details.

Michael Moore Praises Rioters ‘Burning Down The Evil Police Precinct,’ Pushes Kaepernick Call For ‘Revolt’

Left-wing documentary filmmaker and vocal Trump critic Michael Moore issued a series of social media posts praising the riots that have engulfed Minneapolis following the death of George Floyd — the 46-year-old African-American man who died after a white officer held his knee on Floyd’s neck for several minutes. In the posts, Moore specifically urges protesters to “demolish” the Minneapolis Police Department’s 3rd Police Precinct headquarters, accuses “White Minnesota” of telling the world that it’s “OK” to “murder” black people, and calls for open “revolt.”

In response to escalating riots in his city over Floyd’s death, Democratic Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey ordered that police “evacuate the Third Precinct.” By the end of the night, rioters had utterly demolished the building, while the Saint Paul Police Department reported that more than 170 businesses were “damaged or looted” and “dozens of fires” were set.

Amid the chaos Thursday night, Moore cheered on the “good citizens” for “burning down the evil police precinct,” demanded that “all police should go home,” and suggested that race should determine who is allowed in the police department.

“Good citizens burning down the evil police precinct in MN after all police were out [and] safe,” Moore tweeted Thursday night (posts below). “All police should go home. No violence please. Police HQ must be demolished by the city tomorrow as a show of contrition to black America. Rebuild PD with decent kind [people] aka [people] of color.”

His betrayal of the Constitution by rejecting the fact that “… nor prohibiting the free exercise thereof … ” really means “… can prohibit the free exercise thereof and regulate differently than secular businesses in the event of whatever emergency the government identifies … ” means that the citizens of the US can no longer rely on the Government to protect our rights. Snakes in Michigan are harmless, aside from a small, rare rattler that lives in the woods Up North. Snakes are basically digestive systems covered in skin. I hear they’re quite tasty, but I’ve never eaten one.

Nooo. Spiders are great. In New Guinea the whole inside mart (grass) roof was covered in about 3″ deep spiderweb. The spiders and I had a truce of sorts. They’d stay on the ceiling catching mosquitos and I’d stay under my mosquito net.

AS for snakes, I come from Australia so everything that moves tries to kill you. I only ate snake once because I was REALLY hungry as a 14 year old Army Cadet at school. Stranded 5 days on a mountain top by weather and out of everything except 10 pounds of tea, one small tin of margarine and 2 small packets of ‘hard-tack’ biscuits and half a tube of sweetened condensed milk.
4 of us found a Red bellied Black Snake (poisonous) that was dozy because it’d had eaten a rabbit whole and was digesting it. We had no live ammo but we did have plenty of blank ammo, so we loaded a round into a WWI .303 rifle slid it up against the dozy snake’s head and blew it off .

Gutted the snake and kept the skin. Sliced the flesh off it and pounder it with rocks to tenderise it, ( it was like rubber) crushed the hard-tack biscuits with rocks. Melted the little tin of margarine in a ‘dixey’ pan rolled the pounder snake meat in condensed milk to make it sticky , rolled it in hart-tack and fried it.

After so like without food in the wet cold of a mountain top….. it was ambrosia …

I give the left credit, by committing this insurrection, they negate the legitimate protests and escalation from the right on the suppression of our liberties under this Covid excuse for totalitarianism. The argument will be that we on the right cheered the government to suppress their insurrection but we somehow are justified in our protests? Never mind that the there is a world of difference between the two — the propagandists will see to it that the lines are erased.

Barack Obama and Bernie Sanders could use their sizable influence to put out strong statements against this terrorism.

It wouldn’t stop it, but it could slow it.

But they won’t. They’ll offer up boilerplate bromides, but no strong, steady denouncement.

as the dem party moves farther left, it is harder and harder to keep that base energized. hence the lack of action by biden et al.

they moved so far to the left that they are now beholden to the radicals for base support. a gimmick, first half-black president, was all that saved them before. the next gimmick, first woman president, failed as they lose national support.

biden has no gimmick, except senility.

Pretty much glossed over Bill Clinton’s involvement (although they did say that he’s been on the jet a couple dozen times, the one survivor said “I never saw him do anything), they made sure to include as many pictures of Donald Trump with Epstein as they could.

Patterson is an ass – I know he’s pals with Clinton but dude, you really want us to believe that Clinton went to Orgy Island and did NOTHING?

Actively surpassing them required REAL INTENT on behalf of the US Federal Government. Will we see ANTIFAR groups attacked with lethal force with no warning?

Very few of the original Weathermen were actually killed. A few leaders were locked up but many just sank away back into the general population. Active suppression actually means ambushing and killing them wherever they are found.

Maybe 20 attacks in all, all against gov’t facilities. The only fatalities on their side I recall is when they managed to blow themselves up trying to manufacture a bomb in a townhouse in NYC. Bill Ayers lost the love of his life in that. But they were a very small group and that made it hard to crack. They could – and did – hide easily. They were the impetus for the creation of the Joint Terrorism Task Force of the FBI that Barr said will be going after Antifa. And altho the Weathermen may have had contacts with groups abroad, it was never an international org like Antifa.

You’re 100% correct Eagles. The original Weathermen were a very small faction of the general 1960s-70s

The JTTF who will lead any ANTIFA operatoions has a basic weakness. State and even Local Councils can withdraw and refuse to co-operate with JTTF as has already happened in Portland. Recruiting JTTF members from within various Federal, State and Local Police Forces means that their standards will be patchy to say the least. Just another example of the difficulties between Federal State and local administrations when attempting to standardise response to armed anarchy and revolutionary groups identified as terrorist organisations.

The Justice Department is responsible so the Justice Department should recruit, train and command the officers of the JTTF operationally.

Knowing what I know now, I can’t believe the military let them anywhere near the operations. I was just referring to Americans in general, who thought they were a real news organization at that time. Now they’re an arm of the enemy, to half of the country.

If Antifar are implicated in external actions then that may allow some further domestic enforcement but it’s still questionable.

Hoist on your own petard it appears!

But sooner or later the DNC will again hold power and do you want to allocate even more power to them to oppress the conservatives right at that time?

    @ Aussie Infidel:

Bullshit. Did you see what he did there?

    defines domestic terrorism as activities that occur primarily within the United States; that “involve acts dangerous to human life that are a violation of the criminal laws of the United States or of any State”;

and then proceeds to conflate THAT with this

When it comes to national security, then, we do not want the federal government investigating the constitutionally protected activities of Americans unless there are solid grounds to believe they are serving a foreign power

Constitutionally protected activities DO NOT fall under ‘violation of the criminal laws of the United States’

    Next.

Got to it before I did. The fact is that Antifa has been committing criminal acts for a long time now. They have been committing assault, murder, arson, destruction of property. They have also been providing funds, tools, means of communication, and transportation for people to commit these acts. Name one single conservative group that has been doing this. This word whore (Thanks CW) is comparing apples and tubas. There is a huge difference between calling a spade a spade in antifas case and the dems “the NRA is a terrorist group, hurr durr” usual bullshit.

    @ Deplorable Martian Overlord:
Seditious activities that lead to subversion IS NOT COVERED by Constitutional Protections. Especially so if such seditious speech and organisation is at the behest of a foreign actor.

Anarchic activities are well covered under the provisions of Criminal Law, and that should always be the first recourse. If however there is evidence of actual subversion attempted subversion of the State by malevolent agents, then the full force of the Law should be used against them and their foreign financiers and boosters.

What I DO NOT want to see set, where the precedent is established at some future time, during a Democrat Administration, where forces of suppression are used against Conservative actors, attempting to use Constitutional Protections for their defence. Charges of sedition and subversion, against those innocent conservative actors, could be falsely based on president being established now.

We have already seen the DNC attempting to work against the Constitutional Protections of all US citizens, even without the establishment of this faux precident.

Be careful that the simple ‘cure’ is not worse than the disease.
Destroy ANTIFA through the application os Criminal Law and especially Federal Criminal Law. Once ‘The Dogs of War are unleashed, it is hard to get them back onto the leach. Troops in the street is ALWAYS a BAD LOOK in any Republic or Parliamentary Democracy.

    @ right_wing2:
The jury in the George Floyd case will need to be completely shielde and anonymous, starting during the selection process. I don’t know how, or even if, it can be done though.
