NPR Advises Readers to ’Decolonize” Their Bookshelves by Removing White Authors

In essence, “decolonizing your bookshelf” is about actively resisting and casting aside the colonialist ideas of narrative, storytelling, and literature that have pervaded the American psyche for so long, says @itsjuanlove.

Oh, I think everything possible will be done to suppress these things such as:

    – the nightclub they both worked for was a money laundering op

    – there was a counterfeiting machine going on that employees were allowed to avail themselves of

    – when Floyd got greedy/sloppy taking advantage of the counterfeit money, Chauvin was deployed for the hit

Chauvin will cop a plea to avoid an Epstein ending, and there will be a change of venue.

Woke Journalists Compare Antifa Riots to D-Day Landings

Several journalists and other woke blue-checks took to Twitter to claim the D-Day landings near Normandy, France 76 years ago are somehow like the Antifa-led riots.

“Biggest antifa rally in history,” Mara Liasson of National Public Radio claimed, sharing a tweet depicting the beaches where Allied troops landed in mainland Europe.

LOS ANGELES — Andrew Alexander, the CEO and co-owner of famed The Second City improv theater, said he is stepping down after a former performer leveled accusations of racism against the comedy institution.

In a lengthy letter posted on the company’s website, Alexander said he “failed to create an anti-racist environment wherein artists of color might thrive. I am so deeply and inexpressibly sorry,”

He vowed Friday that he will be replaced by a person of color.

    https://www.twincities.com/2020/06/06/second-city-ceo-steps-down-amid-claims-of-racism-at-theater/

Let’s see, that’s ‘wrong think’, self-denouncement, and for the trifecta, we’ve got the whole collectivization of guilt thing going on, just as was done for the Holocaust.

So, yeah, I’d say we’re past any tipping point and have arrived.

I don’t know anything about the Parkside Cafe in Alabama or why Candace Owens started a GoFundMe campaign for them. But look what’s happened.

    ———-
After raising $205,000 in a few hours @gofundme decided to halt my campaign for the Parkside Cafe in Alabama. At their discretion, they deemed that funds raised for a conservative business constitutes “intolerance”

    ——-

Candace Owens, a conservative commentator and political activist, launched a GoFundMe campaign in support of Michael Dykes, a Birmingham bar owner who slammed the George Floyd protests, calling Floyd a “thug” and protesters “idiots.”

Dykes, one of the owners of Parkside Cafe in Avondale, made his comments about the protests on Friday in a text message to two other managers that was circulated to employees.

It was posted on Facebook by Lacey King, a staffer at the bar who resigned. The text caused three employees to quit and prompted a controversy on social media that threatens the bar’s future. Customers and others have called for a boycott of Parkside or said the co-owner of the bar, Robert Bagwell, should oust Dykes.

Why? The virus is active in stores when people are shopping, but there are no issues if one is rioting shoulder to shoulder?

This is just doubling down on stupid. Given that the police are under attack by the likes of Cuomo, they should flat out refuse to enforce an illegal order stating that it will lead to potential racial discrimination.

Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” former NATO Supreme Allied Commander Admiral James Stavridis said he was concerned President Donald Trump has caused America to lose it’s “international moral authority.”

Stavridis said, “This is a moment when I think many of us watched the use of active-duty military to clear peaceful protesters out of Lafayette Square, and it rang echoes of what the Founders feared more than anything, which was the use of armed active-duty military against citizens, and they built safeguards in, including the First Amendment.”

The Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement is pushing a movement to “defund the police” — the group reportedly plans to develop an armed branch of “peace officers” to patrol cities.

“We pattern ourselves after the Black Panthers, after the Nation of Islam, we believe that we need an arm to defend ourselves,” Newsome said. “We will build and train peace officers to keep the peace in our communities, to defend our communities, to keep our communities safe.”

    This is a GREAT read!

A new book is already adorning the shelves of liberals in London, New York, Amsterdam and Paris, reassuring them that in actual fact humanity has evolved to agree with them – and that some of us are just too ignorant to realise.

Humankind: A Hopeful History, offers an uplifting look at human nature, arguing that our species is, when all is said and done, mostly decent, caring and selfless. It is a well written, accessible, optimistic, an easy read chock full of intriguing tales and anecdotes from the length and breadth of human history. There’s just one problem: it’s bollocks.

The author, Rutger Bregman, essentially takes 400 pages to argue what John Lennon took four minutes to propose in that tedious liberal hymn Imagine. His thesis is a rehashing of one that has been debated back and forth for centuries in philosophy departments at universities around the world: Who was right? Thomas Hobbes or Jean Jacques Rousseau?

The central argument of the Englishman is that before civilisation, human life was “nasty, brutish and short” where humanity existed in a war of “all against all.”

The Swiss Rousseau, however, argued that before this blasted disease of civilisation blighted humanity, we were a race of “Noble Savages.” Given the title, Humankind, there are no prizes for guessing which side of the fence our Dutch author comes down on.

Like the 18th century Genevan, Bregman believes not only that we were once bands of nomadic hunter-gatherers (a fact) but that we were then, and indeed are now, fundamentally good and non-violent (at least towards each other). We were lithe and athletic (from all that hunting and gathering), rarely had cause to fight, didn’t have to toil in the fields and were all essentially proto-feminist communists right up to the point about 10,000 years ago when some bastard between the Tigris and the Euphrates invented agriculture.

If he even is aware of Margaret Mead’s existence, it might have occurred to him to look up some aboriginal tribes and see how they’re doing. I suggest the Yanomami, made famous by Napoleon Chagnon, for climbing up the social ladder by collecting skulls. Also, zero agriculture.

Instead, I’m betting he listened to ‘that tedious liberal hymn’ about 500 times too many.

    Why Break Windows

First, as countless others have argued, because property destruction is an effective tactic. From the Boston Tea Party to the demonstrations against the 1999 World Trade Organization summit in Seattle, property destruction has been an essential part of many struggles. It can pressure or punish opponents by inflicting an economic cost. It can mobilize potential comrades by demonstrating that the ruling forces are not invincible. It can force issues that otherwise would be suppressed—we would certainly not be having a nationwide conversation about race, class, and policing were it not for the courageous actions of a few vandals in Ferguson. Finally, it conveys an uncompromising rejection of the prevailing order, opening space in which people may begin to imagine another.

since Crowdstrike’s selection by Perkins Coie and DNC and attribution of DNC hack to Russia, it has gone from being a private company that was just one of several dozen computer security vendors to a public corporation. Value of shares held by 11 executives is ~$10 billion.

Zero cases of Wuhan Flu for 20 days 100% recovered cases.

BACK to NORMAL. Retail instantly bounced back and stands at just 1% below the May numbers of last year and that’s without cinemas and other masses retail and public eateries in malls. The current unemployment figures stand at 9 1/2 % and the share market is just a few points below pre-virus figures. The Kiwi dollar is rising and is now higher than it was in November 2019.
All sport is back on without restrictions.

Boarder is still partially closed to inbound. If you arrive you have to self isolate for 14 days and will be checked on from time to time to ensure that you’re taking isolation seriously. The James Cameron film crew arrived back in country 13 days ago and have been self isolating in a Wellington hotel. They were slapped by local government for breaking isolation down in the hotel’s public restaurant. Jerks! They start filming the next two Avitar movies tomorrow in the Wellington studios.

Internal airlines is fully open without restrictions. Air NZ is operating 100% internally and still has very limited international services operating (due to isolation requirements for inbound customers). Qantas Jetstar restarts internal services in 3 weeks. The Trans-Tasman ‘bubble’ that would allow free movement between Australia and NZ still awaits some Australian States (Victoria and Queensland….. both leftist administrations ) to get their shit together, so there can be free movement between the two countries… before the ski season kicks off in about 4 weeks time.

    1,504 known cases
The maximum number of hospital hospital admissions were steady at about 20 throughout with ICU admissions averaging about 4.
22 died but some of that was ‘died with Covid 19 rather died OF Covid 19 (16 were cases from ‘Rest Homes’).

Got some leftist sleight of hand going on. While they are doing the NOISY thing with the riots and defund the cops crap they are doing something much more quiet and part of their long-term goal. THey are defunding and removing school resource officers from schools across the country. Seeing lots of posts from on friends feeds from their local news. THis serves two purposes, it increases the chances for their precious school shootings for their anti-gun narratives (which have taken a brutal hit thanks to their actions lately) and second removes positive interactions between kids and police in a school environment, allowing the left to continue to direct the anti-police narrative in the fashion that they wish.

I also think that the rush to “Defund The Police” happened because any serious police reform that would address real issues would involve curtailing the power of a public sector union.

They won’t go there. And I doubt they’re serious about allowing jurisdictions to go unpoliced. No matter the histrionics.

There is a linkage between the coronavirus hoax and the riots — it’s just not what they say it is. From the moment Hillary Clinton lost the 2016 presidential election, the Left has been determined to destroy not only the Trump presidency but also the very country that allowed such an enormity to occur. They — the DNC, the big media, academe — have thrown everything they have into the fight, and that they have now turned to outright violence in its late stages ought to tell you something, both about the “resistance’s” history, and the future it has planned for you.

    Kurt Schlichter’s latest:

More Than Ever, It’s Time to Unleash the Power of ‘No’

For way too long, too many conservatives and other normal people have failed to deploy our most potent weapon in the defense of free thought and expression – the utter refusal to go along with the demands of the carnivorous left. As has been said before by me and others, we need to introduce these spoiled brats to the concept of “no.”

This is a critical moment, and how we react now will determine if our future is citizenship or serfdom. The Democrats’ kinetic operation that was the rioting has failed, the violent thuggery egged-on and enabled by half-wit MSNBCNN talk-holes, feckless lefty pols, and the blue check jerk-stapo ended up appalling the voters, and not just Republicans. The grave strategic error of sending the masked marauders of Marxism marching into limo lib enclaves like Beverly Hills convinced a lot of people who hate Trump that maybe law and order isn’t such a bad thing after all. Defund the police? Yeah, that’s a tough sell outside a sociology department. Mansions and BMWs burn just like churches and police cars do.

The rioting was really an information operation, and a failed one. There were two big problems for the furious rioters. One was that normal people saw no connection between protesting the treatment of George Floyd and looting big screens from the local Target, except that both disgusted them. The second issue was the inability to identify a specific enemy. Who exactly was the person supporting the killing of George Floyd? What was the name of the person who said, “Yeah, that was a good thing”? Across the spectrum, liberal to conservative, people were appalled at what they saw on the video. Even Judge Mom, a former deputy district attorney, said she would have considered charging it as first-degree murder under California law. Talk about unity – America was united in the conclusion that his treatment was a crime. So, the left had a real problem because there was no individual to apply Alinsky Rule 13 to: “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.”

But a larger, more comprehensive information operation is still ongoing, one in which a bunch of pampered SJW stormtroopers, aided and abetted by the weak and frightened elder caste of liberals occupying the heights of the establishment, are attempting to define the tolerable range of ideas and expression within our culture. In a shocking turn that would surprise only stupid people, the tolerable range of ideas and expression they wish to establish corresponds exactly to the ideas and expressions they agree with. The Venn diagram of what they think and what they allow to be thought is a single circle.

The rest of us are expected to shut up, and thereby concede and recognize their mastery over us.

    We could do that, sure.

Or we could tell them “no.”

    I’ll go with “no.”

no, not a lie. Basically, the BLS really couldn’t decide how to count all the unemployed due to the virus. They have some categories – ‘left to care for family’ etc., and they put people in various slots – but they don’t know if they got it right.

The fact is, nobody knows. But there is no ‘lie’ involved, just very confusing data.

Yes, she’s made missteps – not gauging public opinion correctly when Diana died and the aftermath of the Windsor fire – but all in all she’s probably responsible for bringing more money INTO Britain than they ever spent on her.

I know Charles is next in line, and I’m sure that she probably has at best a decade left, but if they have ANY sense at all, they’ll find some way to bypass Jug Ears and Camilla and award the crown to William and Kate. But as a British friend of mind told me – “alas, that’s who we’re stuck with, and he’s too full of himself to think what would be best for the Crown.”

I’ve had to educate a lot of people who had legitimate workplace grievances that HR are NOT “guidance counselors” who will help solve your problem.

Yes. You must report your grievance to them, but only to get it on record.

If you can’t solve it through communication via chain of command and it’s egregious enough, you go get a lawyer right after you make your official report.

HR will immediately begin protecting the company FROM YOU.

They make a big deal of selling themselves as a sort of mediator during training, when nothing could be further from the truth.

In fact, the NFL may be looking at real revenue losses this year. DirecTV is looking to get out of its exclusivity deal for Sunday Ticket. Krapperdick’s stunt and that “day of kneeling” two years ago resulted in thousands of home cancellations. Couple that with the “social distancing” and closed up bars and the cost they pay for a subscription, I’m willing to bet that they’ve seen a massive amount of bars say “yeah, no thanks” and stick to broadcasting the local feed only (the cost to a sports bar is outrageous – thousands per season). And DirecTV in some ways can claim the NFL breached by creating an business atmosphere that affected the fan base that were willing to pay for Sunday Ticket.

And it’ll be interesting to see what happens with ad revenues. I know that Fox had promised it’s advertisers a certain sized audience and charged accordingly. When the actual ratings came in, they were well below the viewership promised and Fox actually had to give away commercial time toward the end of the season.

I already told the Football Savant Offspring that we wouldn’t be getting Sunday Ticket again this year – I was completely fed up with Drew Brees, Mrs. Drew Brees, the Saints and Roger Goodell. If he wants Sunday Ticket, he can purchase it through the Playstation organization, I think. But we’re done.

Actually, we’re pretty done with DirecTV as well, We’re looking for streaming alternatives for basic cable and local stations. I hear YouTube has a streaming service and so does Sling that will fulfill this need.

‘Cops,’ Long-Running Reality Show That Glorified Police, Is Canceled

The show’s 33rd season was expected to premiere on the Paramount Network on June 15.

    “Cops” is no longer.

The Paramount Network confirmed on Tuesday that it had removed the reality show from its schedule, as protests nationwide call for police reform. Late last month, the network had temporarily cut the show from its schedule.

“‘Cops’ is not on the Paramount Network and we don’t have any current or future plans for it to return,” a spokeswoman for the network said.

Spike TV, the predecessor to the Paramount Network, picked up “Cops” in 2013 after the show was canceled by Fox, its network home for 25 years. The show’s 33rd season was expected to premiere on Paramount on June 15.

The civil rights group Color of Change began a campaign in 2013 urging Fox not to renew the unscripted law-enforcement show and called on advertisers to withdraw support. Since the show’s debut in 1989, the group said, the network, the show’s producers and the advertisers “have built a profit model around distorted and dehumanizing portrayals of black Americans and the criminal justice system.”

Well, they certainly don’t do a good job at staffing. Over the past several years, we’ve had a shortage of people and HR has been totally worthless in getting enough. The processes they have put in place pretty much ensure somebody motivated and qualified will find some other place to work because they don’t have 6 months to just wait around for the HR process to play out.

    Funny how that works.

I am part of a company that’s gone through several buyouts and mergers. My employee number has stayed the same for over 35 years. It has a leading zero, new employee numbers don’t. When one of my reports asked me for my employee number for something and I told him he said, “wow, I’ve never met someone with a zero before”

Umm, it’s a reality show. This isn’t made up stuff. If black Americans don’t want to be portrayed that way, they shouldn’t live that way such that they are arrested in those circumstances.

I had a gawd awful time getting HR to modify the college degree req for IT hires and get them to add the qualifying “or equivalent experience” clause.

They didn’t want to pay anything either. So, that left me looking at kids fresh out of univ willing to take low pay. BUT. Their reqs for contractors were entirely different.

The problem with newbies is that they have zero experience with maintenance code. They all want to come in and write brilliant code. “I’ve got a sort routine that KILLS and the XML interface is gorgeous.”

No. You have to push terabytes thru an Oracle DB with a schema it takes a Ph.D to figure out in a 2 hr window or payroll AND billing crash and you get a call at 2 am and when I get in at 8 am I’m kicking your ass into next week.

Flowers on my desk, constant visits to my cubicle to ask me out to lunch, etc. AND phone calls at night (my phone # was not published, my divorce lawyer laid down the law to the phone company)
