This is out of control? Where are the police? This is malfeasance on their part and their leaders part. They are allowing hooligans to threaten citizens with firearms while the hoodlums are blocking the roads that other citizens have paid to build and maintain. The government officials better get this back under control or the real free citizens are going to do so.

… and that last statement is a real problem. They have allowed a group of people to threaten others with deadly weapons so that the compatriots of the firearm wielding thugs can disrupt commerce and commit an illegal act. The failure to enforce the law a) should be the subject of legal action against the city and b) is going to come back to bite them.

It could also be an opportunity. If it were up to me, I’d be calling in the Hells Angels types and if you want to watch the LEOs start enforcing the law, THAT would bring them out

There is no way this isn’t going to end up with shooting. The issue is does it come from the gov’t or the mouth breathers or us normies?

I didn’t/couldn’t move fast enough. We should be in Knoxville NOW. I should be back on the range NOW. I understand the theory that Trump is letting this play out until the election but the enemy gets a vote too. The National Guard that is in D.C. now is apparently unarmed. No more Kent State debacles.

That’s why I think the politically more beneficial scenario is if ‘citizens’ take it on ourselves.

I’m losing my patience with sports people’s opinions. On both Covid-19 and race.

Unfortunately, politics is downstream from culture, and sports is culture.

Hermetically sealed people came out and got sick. That was ALWAYS going to happen.

It will be interesting to see if the NFL plays this year. The way they’re reacting to a few sick players, I highly doubt it, despite their insistence to the contrary.

Just saw Ezekiel Elliot, who got sick with Covid-19 after coming out of quarantine and going straight to clubbing, saying something about “kids at home with asthma.”

Are asthmatic kids being hospitalized all of a sudden?

They’re GOING to try and lock down everything again. I can smell it.

    @ Deplorable Bumr50:

If you think herd immunity doesn’t work, all you need to do is look at Northern California. Nine counties, 7.6 million people. 20,939 cases, 585 deaths. All of NorCal has 1/3 the cases of Los Angeles County. Interesting, when you consider that the virus arrived in the U.S. in December, and until March 19th, we were traveling on packed public transportation getting to work.

Herd immunity is working in Northern California, and WAS working until the shutdown.

    @ eaglesoars:
Just came back from a beach just South of our beach where a Brides whale just beached itself. It had its tail severely damaged by a boat propeller and was in danger of drowning so it headed for the beach to die. There are only a few pods around the Gulf and a total of 60 whales making them endangered locally. They are krill eating baleen whales but these local whales eat age large swarms of King Prawns in the Gulf channels. 4 divers hooked up its tail at high tide and it was blessed and hauled off the beach by a Coast Guard work boat and towed south into a channel to pick up the outgoing tide . It will then be towed 3 hours North to Tapu Bay where a bulldozer will bury it in the deep sand.
Different types of hales and orcas are eating their fill just now as all of the summer progeny of last spring and summer make a dash for the ocean up the Gulf. The mangroves around Thames have been home for loads of shark pups like hammerheads and even the odd Great White plus loads of flounder, and other fish. On the lookout for Orca pods hunting juvenile stingrays who try to miss the orca bu swimming as close as 10′ from the beach. The first heavy winter rains cause this massed dash for the open oceanic waters at the head of the Gulf.

    Amazing

Pakistan International Airways crash investigators have discovered that out of their 430+ pilots 150 either cheated or did not have pilot’s licenses

    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-53182750

When Air NZ was training All India Airways crew in Christchurch NZ these overseas crews would get all of the good simulator times and the Kiwis got what was left often in the early hours of the morning ( zero dark thirty). One night I was waiting my then and was watching through the open sim door and listening to the NZ instructor and Indian crew hard at work. They had been given a series of mechanical problems and were on a 7 mile final approach when they were given an engine fire to add to their woes.

The co-pilot who was not a bad operator comparatively, was attempting to jog the captain who was a high cast arsehole into initiating a fire and shutdown procedure. The captain said in a LOUD voice .. ” don not bother me with all of these emergencies, can’t you see that I am flying on instruments?”

We just shook our heads as did the Kiwi instructor sitting at his station inside the sim.

After another dozen or so sims some of the Indian crews graduated and some failed. When they got back to All India Airways EVERYONE was given a PASS!

Seriously folks when flying into or out of or internally in the Indian / Pakistan Sub-Continent …..

PLEASE make sure you travel by CAMEL.

Many of these idiots are corrupt arseholes and you don’t know who the competent ones are from the morons.

Now we wait for the whale carcuss to resurface and I just hope that it doesn’t wash up on this beach . Hopefully it’ll end up back where it started and try #2 tomorrow of Sunday’s high tide.

NSW MP’s Sydney home raided as ASIO probes China links

By Nick McKenzie and Joel Tozer

    June 26, 2020 — 10.04am

Counter-espionage agency ASIO is conducting a sweeping investigation into allegations Chinese government agents have infiltrated the office of a NSW Labor politician to influence Australian politics.

Multiple sources aware of the foreign interference investigation said it was scrutinising the office of NSW Labor MP Shaoquett Moselmane as part of one of the most significant inquiries in recent ASIO history.

Shaoquett Moselmane, right, with his lawyer as he leaves his home on Lennox Street in Rockdale during a raid by federal agents.

As part of the inquiry, the federal police raided properties linked to Mr Moselmane on Friday morning, searching for evidence to support allegations of a Chinese government plot unfolding on Australian soil.

The sources said if sufficient evidence was found, the inquiry could ultimately result in an Australian and world first: a prosecution for foreign interference offences arising from an alleged covert Chinese Communist Party plot to influence a serving politician.

A dozen plain-clothed federal agents raided Mr Moselmane’s two-storey house in Rockdale, in Sydney’s south, at 6.30am and began conducting an extensive search for evidence.

An hour later, six forensics officers arrived and assisted with the search. At 9am, detectives searched three cars— an Audi, ute and Volvo— outside Mr Moselmane’s house.

Shaoquett Moselmane as he leaves his home on Lennox Street in Rockdale.

Shaoquett Moselmane as he leaves his home on Lennox Street in Rockdale.Credit:Kate Geraghty

Mr Moselmane’s lawyer arrived during the search and was let into the home by federal agents. The agents searched the house and were seen carrying bags and folders.

The Attorney-General Christian Porter has authorised efforts by ASIO to gather evidence of any person suspected of seeking to influence Mr Moselmane or his staff on behalf of the Chinese government. The step could only be taken if there were reasonable grounds to suspect evidence may be at those properties.

Security expert Neil Fergus said: “ASIO would not take this step lightly.”

The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age is not suggesting the allegations involving Mr Moselmane and his office are proven, only that they are the subject of an ASIO and federal police inquiry.

The revelations of the ASIO probe are likely to trigger a political storm, given Labor has already weathered intense criticism over Mr Moselmane and his office’s apparent disdain for bipartisan reforms to curb Chinese government interference in Australia and the upper house MP’s unabashed praise of Beijing.

It is also likely to dramatically inflame tensions between China and Australia, which have plunged to a new low point following the federal government’s calls for an inquiry into Beijing’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Politicians across the nation have been repeatedly warned by ASIO about safeguarding against foreign government influence efforts.

The warnings were amplified after the 2018 resignation of Labor senator Sam Dastyari amid claims he’d been cultivated by CCP-aligned political donor Huang Xiangmo, who was expelled from Australia in late 2018 after ASIO warned he may be engaged in foreign interference.

Since 2018, Mr Moselmane and his part-time staffer John Zhang have attracted media and political scrutiny over their support for Chinese government positions and criticisms of Australian government policy.

Mr Moselmane resigned as assistant president of the NSW Legislative Council after the Herald and The Age revealed how he wrote in an essay for a Chinese University that “the obsolete scum of white Australia” had re-emerged, attacked Australia’s “mainstream media” as anti-Chinese and praised Beijing’s leadership during the coronavirus crisis. The February essay mirrored Chinese state propaganda and was translated into Chinese by his staffer, Mr Zhang.

It was only the most recent of many controversial pro-Beijing comments Mr Moselmane has made. Mr Moselmane controversially gave a speech in 2019 proclaiming a “new world order” was needed for China to reach its potential.

Mr Moselmane has taken nine privately-funded trips to China since entering Parliament in 2009. Disclosure records show his transport and hospitality costs were often met by Chinese government officials or agencies.

He appointed Mr Zhang to his parliamentary office as a part-time staffer at the beginning of 2019. Mr Zhang has, according to Chinese websites, attended a propaganda training course in 2013 run by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, which merged in 2018 with Chinese Communist Party’s opaque influence agency, the United Front Work Department (UFWD). The precise nature of the course is not known.

The UFWD, in part, works to increase the CCP’s influence in foreign political systems by employing legitimate means as well as covert, coercive methods.

Covert and coercive measures are outlawed under Australian counter-foreign interference laws.

Mr Zhang wrote in a 2014 blog how “to strengthen our [China’s] political influence, we must have more politicians like Shaoquett with pro-China sentiments to be our friends”.

The ASIO probe is examining if covert activities or agents directed by the CCP may have sought to influence Mr Moselmane, Mr Zhang or others in Mr Moselmane’s office and, if that can be proven, whether the politician and his staffers had any knowledge or on involvement.

One intelligence community insider who spoke on the condition of anonymity as they are not authorised to speak to the media said multiple warrants had been acted on in NSW in an attempt to gather evidence about the alleged plot. A second source with knowledge of the inquiry said it had begun as a narrow ASIO probe but dramatically widened.

The issuing of warrants to gather evidence in covert cases like this is an intensive process governed by stringent intelligence and communication laws designed to strike a balance between protecting national security and invading a person’s privacy.

ASIO is required to report to the Attorney-General on the extent to which the action taken under every warrant has assisted the agency, although civil libertarians and legal groups say the process is still unaccountable given it takes place behind closed doors.

Mr Moselmane has previously criticised Australia’s new counter-foreign interference laws in an interview with Chen Hong, director of the East China Normal University Australia Studies Center, in Shanghai.

Zhang is named online as a researcher at Professor Chen’s centre and Mr Moselmane is listed as a guest professor there. China analyst Alex Joske said Professor Chen has close ties to the Chinese Communist Party and is a prolific critic of Australian government policy.

In an interview Mr Chen conducted with Mr Moselmane in 2018, the pair discussed Australia’s counter-foreign interference laws, which were passed that year with bipartisan support. Mr Chen said reporting about interference had “singled out” China. Mr Moselmane agreed and also described scrutiny of Beijing’s influence campaign as a “witch hunt”.

Despite resigning as upper house assistant president, Mr Moselmane has remained a member of Parliament and a member of the Labor Party.

Labor leader Jodi McKay has previously described his comments praising Chinese President Xi Jinping as “appalling”, but ruled out expelling him from the party.

Federal Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton in April condemned Mr Moselmane’s website remarks as Chinese government “talking points”, while former Rudd government minister Stephen Conroy described Mr Moselmane as an “absolute disgrace to the Labor Party” and said it was “astonishing he’s still in Parliament”.

Oh yeah, The Plan. The Bubba Wallace hoax was, I’m beginning to think, planned out by much higher ups and Petty may have been in on it. Wallace drives for Petty, and Petty is owned by some financial group, the name of which I’ve forgotten but they just appointed a Clintonista to the board. The guy who heads up the financial group, when it bought the Petty group, said he wanted to ‘increase the diversity’ of the sport. Which is a sentiment Petty had already expressed.

    It’s like MAJIK!!

Also NASCAR released a photo of the “noose” yesterday. Amazingly, it was something like five times as big as the one in the original photo, was hanging too far down to effectively be for use in closing the door, and was in very pristine condition for something that had hung in a garage for almost a year.

Meanwhile, when asked for the video cam surveillance footage of the garage, NASCAR is refusing to produce it. I’m pretty sure they had to show it to the FBI, which I am sure is one of the reasons they concluded it was a door pull.

That NASCAR honcho should be fired IMMEDIATELY. I’m going to go out on a limb and predict that their ratings will be in the toilet on Sunday.

I have an interesting legal case for you. Salinas, Calif. The New Harvest Fellowship used to rent a building for its Christian svcs, but the congregation grew too large, so it bought a bldg. downtown. Except NOPE. The town says it doesn’t contribute to the sought-after ‘vibrancy’ (read ‘tourist monies’) and it can’t open. 2 lower courts have ruled against the church, it’s now headed for the 9th circuit. The Fellowship argues that the town allows a post office and a nursing home, which also don’t contribute to the ‘vibrancy’.

I suggest somebody try to open a mosque and see what the town does.

We just got back from Willow’s 1st post-op appt and the vet says she’s doing beautifully, doesn’t need to see her for a month. This is one tough little beagle.

Ninth Circuit is now over half conservative. How is this not an abridgement of the first amendment right of freedom to worship. Perhaps these clods in Salinas think the Kelo decision gives them the right.

I think at the 9th they lose. And I also think that if they try SCOTUS, it not only takes cert, but they find for the church.

This is such bullshit. 9th Circuit again

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in a 2-1 decision Friday that President Donald Trump’s 2019 order to reprogram $2.5 billion in military funds for wall construction on the U.S.-Mexico border was unlawful.

Chief Judge Sidney R. Thomas wrote the ruling opinion, issued Friday in the case of Sierra Club v. Donald Trump. In the opinion, Thomas ruled that the transfer of funds was not lawful because the wall did not constitute a sufficient military project, based on Section 8005 of the Department of Defense Appropriations Act of 2019.

If you need the ULTIMATE book on Engineering Maths try to find the out of print series of two books…
    K A STROUD
Engineering Mathematics Programmes & Problems … and vol 2 ….
Further Engineering Mathematics Programmes & Problems

It’s a total packaged under graduate Maths course setup and assuming you have only a basic grasp of the subject. It’s broken up into about a total of 40 Program sets that are individually broken down into stand alone lessons that lead you slowly onward making each step really easy and then re-inforcing those lessons learned later in each program with testa and worked examples aplenty.

It is the TOTAL packaged lessons for any Engineering undergraduate and you don’t need anything else. Hell even I can easily do these ‘smal bite sized piece’ programmes and that’s saying something mate!

I think it’s out of print but there has been at least 3 editions and probably more about so it shouldn’t be too hard to find a second hand set of the two volumes on-line.

    Other info:
    Publisher MacMillan Education Ltd.
    Author K A Stroud

    ISBN-0-333-34874-5 That’s the Vol 2 book.
My copy of the Vol 1 is IBSN 0-333-44886-3

I can GUARANTEE that these 2 books will give you a total Maths skill set in engineering.

    Here’s more very cool

The tree of life just got another major branch. Researchers recently found a certain rare and mysterious microbe called a hemimastigote in a clump of Nova Scotian soil. Their subsequent analysis of its DNA revealed that it was neither animal, plant, fungus nor any recognized type of protozoan — that it in fact fell far outside any of the known large categories for classifying complex forms of life (eukaryotes). Instead, this flagella-waving oddball stands as the first member of its own “supra-kingdom” group, which probably peeled away from the other big branches of life at least a billion years ago.

“It’s the sort of result you hope to see once in a career,” said Alastair Simpson, a microbiologist at Dalhousie University who led the study.

Impressive as this finding about hemimastigotes is on its own, what matters more is that it’s just the latest (and most profound) of a quietly and steadily growing number of major taxonomic additions. Researchers keep uncovering not just new species or classes but entirely new kingdoms of life — raising questions about how they have stayed hidden for so long and how close we are to finding them all.

Good morning. Trump sends a letter to Lori Lightfoot and JB Pritzker about Chicago violence.
They both have a hissy fit. This after Lightfoot gave Trump an unprovoked F U about a week ago.

I wish Torba had been more forthcoming about what, if anything, he’s doing about this. I realize he can’t say who told him all this, but I’d like a lot more exposure.

To me, this doesn’t sound like Visa policy because hate speech is not illegal. It sounds like one person or a small cabal who wormed their way into the mechanism somehow and plugged up the works.

The reason I share all of this is that I hope it serves as a wakeup call and as a warning. If they can do this to me, they can do it to you and they likely will.

Christians need to be especially concerned and aware of this. The Communist revolutionaries taking over the United States are coming for us all. It’s only a matter of time before the Bible is labeled as “hate speech” and churches start to experience what I am going through right now.

That’s true, but if you read the story, he says when he’s tried to find other processors, someone at VISA gets in touch with them and says he’s flagged for ‘hate speech’.

That sounds VERY fishy to me. One, that someone could actually pull that or, two, did it happen?

James Carville: Trump has ‘zero chance’ of being re-elected,’ more likely not to run at all

Longtime Democratic strategist James Carville declared on Thursday night that there is “no chance” President Trump wins re-election in November.

“I think there is a better chance Donald Trump does not run for re-election, than he is re-elected,” Carville told MSNBC’s Brian Williams.

“There is no chance he’s gonna be re-elected,” Carville continued. “If you just take the events of the last 10 days, obviously he has no control over the virus, he has no control over the tension in the streets…he’s lost control over everything.”

“Zero chance he’s gonna be re-elected,” Carville repeated, adding that someone should warn Trump a “humiliating” defeat is coming his way.

“Jared, or somebody, is gonna have to sit down and have a real, like, talk, a real man-to-man, a come-to-Jesus as people used to say, I don’t know what is it,” Carville said. “That is, that which can’t continue will not.”

Carville, a former Clinton staffer, said the Republican Party needs to think of “something different.”

“I mean that, I’m serious,” he added.

WIlliams then told Carville that MSNBC’s far-left audience is “hoping he’s right.” Carville said that Democrats are “traumatized” by 2016, so they’re nervous heading into 2020, but he feels they need to forget the past and stop freaking out every time Joe Biden makes a mistake.

“That’s idiotic, we’re going to win,” Carville said. “It’s evident to everybody what is going to happen… deal with it Democrats, you’re going to win.”

    @ eaglesoars:
Yeah the lithium battery lasts a lot longer. If you have the warranty on your alarm system, you can get a tech to come out and change the batteries. They would charge you for the batteries, but the visit itself wouldn’t be any cost. We have a smoke alarm that’s probably 15 feet off the ground, and I don’t think the ladder I have would even reach up that high. Even if it did I don’t want to get up there!

Orange County Democratic Party has filed a resolution to remove actor John Wayne’s name from the John Wayne Airport in Orange County, California, citing the late actor’s past “white supremacist, anti-LGBT, and anti-Indigenous views.”

The officials passed an emergency resolution this week calling on the Orange County Board of Supervisors to drop Wayne’s name from the airport and rename it, simply, to Orange County Airport.

The resolution was submitted by the Orange County Democratic Party chair Ada Briceño, along with Chapman University members Fred Smoller, associate professor of Political Science, and Dr. Michael A. Moodian, lecturer of leadership studies
