I had a 1977 Ford Bronco, always had the top off. It was a beast, 9mpg tho…oversized tires and a lift kit, 351ci v-8, and a 3 speed manual.

In the blizzard of 1993 (32 inches of snow) I was the only one to be able to even move.

But now! Hot off the presses!

Will this make me rethink my Benzes? No. but maybe Mrs Coldwarrior would love one!

I hate that color. blech. Does it come in red?

This is a great review of the Tom Hanks movie, Grayhound. Unfortunately, it’s only on Apple TV right now, but I’m sure it will get out there somehow.

And Gavin Newsom shuts California down again – Bars, barbers, salons, manicurists, only essential in office buildings. We were on the verge of re-opening our office, I’m told.

Newsom really believes he’s going to be the Democrat nominee in 2024. The only thing keeping the California economy alive at this point is Silicon Valley. Restaurants in the Bay Area are closing for good at the rate of a dozen a week. Some of them have been in business for decades.

Gavin doesn’t give a crap. He’s saying protests may continue, because – FIRST AMENDMENT….however, you can’t go to church (which is also in the First Amendment, but apparently he went to the same law school as Fredo Cuomo.

My 3D printer company, Airwolf 3D, sent me an email notice last week saying that as of July 15, their new headquarters is in Las Vegas, Nevada. Not a multi-billion dollar corporation, but I’m guessing on the order of 10’s of millions per year just left California. They were in Costa Mesa.

  7. 7 | July 14, 2020 1:04 pm

    @ AZfederalist:

Many of the moderate tech companies, that don’t have a significant real estate investment in the area (the type Apple has in Cupertino), are in fact hauling up stakes and moving to the lower tax states like Texas and Nevada. Which would be a good thing if they weren’t liberal jackasses who will vote for the same liberal BS which will, of course, result in higher taxes eventually.

Google, for instance, rented significant office space in San Francisco in some of thee more premier buildings (One Market Plaza, Embarcadero Center) but found after the lockdown happened, that their employees really had no trouble working from home, and so they are either vacating, paying off the balance or NOT renewing their leases. Gonna be a lot of real estate available for rent by the first of the year.

Residential real estate will start imploding as well. If you can do your job from your home, hell, move your ass to Mendocino, Humbolt and wherever else the real estate is less expensive and buy yourself something now requiring you to rob a bank to pay the property taxes every year.

i miss the marine layer. a year at DLI in monterey spoiled me for life. we’d live in cali if it werent such a screwed up place.

anyway, the comet is moving away from the sun and higher into the sky. therefore, it is visible in the evening sky in the northern hemisphere and is moving higher in the sky…farther away from the sun/dimmer as time goes on.

From the 14th onward, the comet’s motion will have shifted its best viewing opportunity to the evening sky…

Start looking about 1 hour after sunset, when you’ll find it just over the northwestern horizon as the last of twilight fades into darkness. Look about three fists below the bottom of the Big Dipper, which is hanging down by its handle high above, and from there perhaps a little to right.

Every evening thereafter the comet will be getting dimmer, but it will also be getting higher up as twilight ends. On the evening of the 23rd, when Comet NEOWISE is its closest to Earth, locate it by first noting the two stars at the bottom of the Big Dipper’s bowl. Then draw an imaginary line through them and toward lower left to a point in the sky a little more than one fist away. But by that date you’ll almost certainly need binoculars or a telescope.

So Bari Weiss has resigned from her position at the NYT after being bullied by her co-workers. Her resignation letter is being hailed as the new J’accuse.

She went to the NYT 2 years ago from the WSJ. She recently took over the position of the editor who was fired for publishing an opinion piece by Tom Cotton.

    I haz questions.

What made her think the NYT was a good place for honest journalism and understanding other Americans? The rag hasn’t done anything but lie for years.

ESPECIALLY after the Tom Cotton editor was fired, I didn’t see her write anything about free thought and bullying then. Just when it’s turned on her – a Jew who supports Israel and gets called a Nazi for it – does she notice?

I’m having a hard time believing she didn’t understand the place is an ideological gulag where if you violate the groupthink rules you get dunked in a manure pit – UNTIL IT HAPPENED TO HER.

So I have zero sympathy for her. Yeah, it’s a great letter but she could have written it years ago on the behalf of a lot of other people. But she didn’t.

And she’s a yinzer, which is embarrassing.

So apparently some kind of secret communique went out over the democrat groupthink this week. Last time I went shopping there were only a handful of maskers to be seen. Last night I went to the store and about 80% of the people were masked and glaring at anyone not wearing any. No decrees from our state on masks so I’m not sure what happened but I’m sure it’s democrat related.

Sorry mate but misunderstand what is driving all of this nonsense.

It has NOTHING to do with polls of trying to convince people one way or another. What is ACTUALLY going on is a carefully orchestrated campaign to TERRORISE a society and make them believe that nowhere is safe from terrorists. No support is available to protect and everyone is vulnerable to unexpected attack for no reason at any time.

This is a PsyOps operation to wear down a civilian polity striking fear and uncertainty and removing all civil society’s historical and continuity icons. Terror engenders a need for some form of stability and once ‘conditioned’ the society will clutch at any straw to end the terror and fear. Even if it means giving power to those who terrorise in the first place.

That’s what is ACTUALLY going on in the US

My sister just called. She’s works the polls on elections in Florida. They’re really short handed because most of them are in the retired demographic, which is also covid high risk. So a lot of them are not going to be available until this virus thing gets straightened.

I agree without the breathless media reports the random terror attacks would fizzle. The people initiating these terror and fear attacks are in fact minuscular in the greater scheme of things.
The giant magnifying glass of the MSM however are trying to make these minor incidents sound as if the sky is falling all over the US. This is NOT SO. The MSM are acting as propagandists for these Marxist slobs. The effort should go towards destroying the credibility of MSM sources through a well planned Counter Pay-Ops program aimed as the key personnel running these propaganda factories as well as their front end presenters. And I mean serious and personal PsyOps attacks on them and their families. They need to be totally terrorised into ‘early retirement’ and bankruptcy of their institutions.

The Antifa anarchists and BLM Marxists once robbed of their loud hailers in the MSM will wither on the vine. The US Police front line already belong to the forces of ‘light’. They were ‘recruited’ courtesy of the goons at BLM and Antifa actions in the street. NOW is the time to ruthlessly destroy the elite Police and political management who support the Marxists so that the Operational arm of the Police can be freed up to do their job.

Please no more Mr. nice guy ‘pattacake ‘ politics. You need to grow a pair in the US polity and destroy your opponents branch and root. The time for ruthlessness has arrived because the same ruthlessness is being used against the good guys. By all means keep your civic ethics but at this time the US needs to unleash those rough and dangerous men who fight to win always and use all methods at their disposal.

Coronavirus update: Florida labs not reporting negative test results, report says

Incomplete reporting from some Florida laboratories resulted in errors on the state’s report on virus positivity rates, according to a Fox 35 News report.

“Countless labs have reported a 100 percent positivity rate, which means every single person tested was positive,” Fox 35 News reported. “Other labs had very high positivity rates.”

Orlando Health, for example, reported a 98 percent positivity rate. Lee Memorial Hospital Lab, PanCare of Florida, Inc and Advance Medical of Naples all reported 100 percent positivity rates; no negative results were included.

That rate implies every person tested had a positive result. Fox News has reached out to the organizations with a request for comment.

Fox 35 News said it investigated the numbers by contacting every local location listed in the report. Orlando Health confirmed errors in the report, and its positivity rate is said to be 9.4 percent, not 98 percent as listed.

Similarly, a VA spokesperson told Fox 35 News that the Orlando Veterans Affairs Medical Center’s positivity rate is actually 6 percent, not 76 percent as seen on the report. Fox News has reached out to the Orlando Veterans Affairs Medical Center with a request for comment on this story.

The Florida Department of Health confirmed to Fox 35 News on Tuesday that though private and public laboratories are required to immediately report both positive and negative cases, “some have not.”

“Specifically, they said that some smaller, private labs were not reporting negative test result data to the state,” Fox 35 News reported.

“The Department immediately began working with those labs to ensure that all results were being reported in order to provide comprehensive and transparent data,” a spokesperson for the Florida Department of Health told Fox 35 News. “As the state continues to receive results from various labs, the Department will continue educating these labs on proper protocol for reporting COVID-19 test results.”

I would think that the feds would consolidate record keeping on a consistent data table schema. Very difficult to do. Especially if location data is there.

I worked briefly with fed data and felt it was inflexible and short term. Committee and standards driven without real leadership. Took years to make the standard. Then the input was inconsistent which resulted in massive data updates that in themselves were also in error. Data cleanup was also one person who was the only one smart enough to write the update. But that person also made on the fly decisions on data inserts that altered the standards.

It would be a large task for the Trump admin to track the pandemic effectively. I doubt they can do it without the help of google.

Masks are important if you are infectious as they stop the large and most small particulate matter from getting free into the environment. Cough while wearing a N95 mask and 95% of material stops right there. The remaining 5% are slowed and spread a lot less as well. Wearing a mask when you’re healthy and if you have it fitted loosely as most civilians do does next to ZIP even for heavy particulate matter and forget about the small particulate matter and actual viruses. A well fitted N95 mask that seals well onto the face will probably cut down most large particles and a small proportion of smaller particulate matter but the small stuff gets sucked through the filter. N95 masks are totally ridiculous in stopping virus sized particles that are 10*3 to 10*4 times smaller than the mask pores,

That is the whole shebang folks and the rest is just pure rhetioric and virtue signalling.

Now if you actually want to be protected from viruses of the large Covid19 type try a powered pump feeding a nanoscale filter system mounted on a back pack or belt with a positive pressure double flanged mask that prevents ALL infiltration of external air around the fitted mask edges. Great until your batteries run out. You even get a sealed positive pressure straw valve to take a drink. Great to wear as a constant cool breeze washes across your face and stops the build-up of hot were air from exhaled breath. Yours for $1k-2k.

    🙂

Save your money. Wash your hands (2 happy birthday songs long and maintain distance with groups who are not in your ‘bubble’ Forget getting sick from kids, especially those under 14 … either giving or getting!

Protect the old and vulnerable, by isolation but also with creating a small bubble of family who know that they are not infectious.

Let the young adults catch it, get sick get better and build Herd Immunity. Go to WORK and if you get sick take Therapeutics early such as (hydroxy Chloquine). If you get REALLY sick then app the dose of Therapeutics and get ICU support if necessary. Wait for a vaccine especially ones like the Oxford University one that is in final testing.

My brother still sees that there are a few here and there still happening on TikTok that aren’t being covered on the talking head networks. They realized that they were losing even the dem voters on this one. But, I think they realized it was a weapon they can pull out and use as needed. And I think that it is one that they may consider for voter suppression use since their attempts to got to mail in only are being thwarted.

Interesting point. Salena Zito, one of the best boots-on-the-ground reporters EVAH, has a piece not too long ago, saying the it’s going to be the senior citizen population that carries Trump. But if they’re afraid because of unrest and covid, that put a dent in THAT turnout, doesn’t it?

Alyssa Milano calls for a national coronavirus shutdown amid surge in cases, criticizes Trump and Dr. Fauci

Alyssa Milano called for a national shutdown and lambasted President Trump’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic amid a surge in cases throughout the United States.

The actress and activist took to Twitter earlier this week and posted a series of critical tweets in the wake of California Gov. Gavin Newsom announcing renewed restrictions and shutdowns throughout the state to help combat the virus’ spread.

California is one of the many states seeing an alarming surge in COVID-19 cases. Milano advocated for a national shutdown, offering ideas such as printing cash and universal basic income to help stave off the economic impact.

“F— this,” she wrote. “And all these a–holes are talking about our kids going back to school?! We need a NATIONAL shut down NOW. Print cash. Give people UBI until we get this pandemic under control,” she wrote.

In another tweet, she criticized Trump directly for his inaction on the issue of the pandemic.

    batten down the hatches.

    …Eastern OH to western PA/NY this afternoon/evening…
A weak surface cyclone will move across the lower Great Lakes
through tonight, in advance of a midlevel trough over the OH Valley
that includes remnant MCVs from prior convection. Moisture
advection from the southwest and surface heating in cloud breaks
will support moderate buoyancy in advance of a weak cold front that
is now moving eastward into western OH. Scattered thunderstorm
development is expected in broken bands along and ahead of the front
this afternoon, from eastern OH into western PA/NY. MLCAPE
approaching 1500 J/kg and effective bulk shear near 40 kt will be
sufficient for supercells with an accompanying threat for damaging
winds and isolated large hail. In addition, boundary-layer
dewpoints near 70 F and effective SRH of 250-400 m2/s2 (near the
east edge of the more unstable warm sector) suggest that a few
tornadoes will also be possible this afternoon/evening.

How do hackers ‘accidentally’ leak a video of what they’re doing? ESPECIALLY Iranian hackers?

WHEN SECURITY RESEARCHERS piece together the blow-by-blow of a state-sponsored hacking operation, they’re usually following a thin trail of malicious code samples, network logs, and connections to faraway servers. That detective work gets significantly easier when hackers record what they’re doing and then upload the video to an unprotected server on the open internet. Which is precisely what researchers at IBM say a group of Iranian hackers did.

The investigation was conducted after several facilities reported unusually high numbers of positive results, including a 100 percent positivity rate at an Orlando Centra Care (where all 83 people tested came back positive), and an 88 percent positivity rate at NCF Diagnostics.

Upon getting in contact with several other facilities, Fox 35 found that the Florida Department of Health had either deliberately exaggerated or unintentionally misinterpreted several of the numbers. Although Orlando Health had been reported to have a positivity rate of 98 percent, representatives of the facility confirmed to the news outlet that their positivity rate was actually a mere 9.4 percent.

Similarly, the Orlando Veteran’s Medical Center, which had been reported with a positivity rate of 76 percent, confirmed to the news outlet that theirs was a positivity rate of only 6 percent.

    …Upper OH Valley…
Latest water vapor imagery shows a shortwave trough moving across
Lower MI into OH. Relatively strong southwesterly deep-layer winds
are noted ahead of this feature, leading to favorable verticalshear
profiles for organized convection over parts of eastern OH, western
NY/PA, and northern WV. Breaks in the clouds are resulting in
relatively strong heating, with afternoon MLCAPE values of 1000-1500
    J/kg expected.
Initial storms may rotate, with a general trend
toward bowing clusters during the afternoon. Damaging wind gusts
appear to be the main threat, although isolated hail and a tornado
or two are possible. Eastward extent of the risk should be limited
by more stable condition over central NY/OH. Please refer to MCD
    #1240 for more details.

that is a high mcape number.

The blacks were neither the first nor the last people to suffer slavery. Rome would not have existed w/o slaves. Look up Tiro, Cicero’s slave. He basically invented shorthand.Hagar was Sarah’s slave, who Sarah gave to Abraham to have a child with, Ishmael. Talk to the Jews. And now, there are active slave markets in Libya. So, it’s not that I’m all outta fucks to give, it’s that I never had any to begin with.

If you want to look at what destroyed the black family values in the U.S., it was welfare. A woman got more money if she had children AND no father in the house. BINGO. Slavery had nothing to do with it.

Yes. I have read some of the horrific stories. It’s a lack of civilization. I agree that slavery is not the core cause. Superstition and the arrival of western society causes a lot of the violence.

My view is that slavery was created in African by Africans. The rest of the world thought it worked well and copied them. Eventually Christianity, Britain, and the US realized it was a bad deal and shed a lot of blood to end it. I would prefer I get the reparations.

    Still slaves in the world.

There is a karma for African Americans to grow into personal responsibility and become a good example for civilization. Hysteria over one police shooting and the Marxist parasitism is the uncivilized part that hasn’t been excised yet.

There’s something about this that bothers me. It seems ‘off’. Scripted. I’m not saying the likes of Farrakhan and Rev. Wright haven’t had an impact, but I’ve known and been friends with a lot of blacks in my time, and the only thing they had to say about Jews is that Jesus was born one. If they had anything to say at all.

It’s probably a generational thing on my part. Something has happened to the generations that have come up after the people I’ve been friends with. Now that I think about it, all except 2 have died. One is in a nursing home and I lost touch with the other after she moved to Arizona to be with her daughter.

Yep. I also was right the other day. The 80% maskers thing at my grocery store wasn’t a coincidence. The very next day the television was flooded with a public service ad by our two universities on the importance of universal masking, followed by the governors statewide order yesterday, then the local health officials backing of the order today. What?

In other words, since 2006 NASA has been illegally mislabeling 59% of Orion’s cost to hide this from the public. Through 2030 it expects Orion to cost almost $30 billion, but it has been advertising the cost as only $12 billion.
    .
    .
When Orion finally launches its first crew in 2023, it will have taken NASA twenty years to build and fly one manned Orion mission, for a total cost through that year of more than $20 billion. To repeat, NASA will have flown one manned capsule for $20 billion and taken 20 years to do it.

And yet, even these numbers do not detail the entire cost of that single manned mission. As absurdly high as they are, this estimate does not include the cost for the capsule’s service module, the section that will provide all of its life support, fuel, power, and its main engine. This is being built by the European Space Agency, with a cost for future service modules still under negotiation.

Kill it. Go to the private sector

You suffer from a lack of imagination. What we want is a picture of Schiff in a tutu on Jeffry Epsteins plane, hugging Ghislane Maxwell.

    Think big.

Watch this video. Apparently the woman he stabbed was his ex, she survived, the cops are looking for him, they know who he is. My question is technical: He came at her from the back and her hands were ‘full’. In self defense terms, how do you defend against this? He turned right around and stabbed her in the left back area. What’s the self defense?

Probably the first issue is situational awareness. She let him get too close before she noticed him. Since he was her ex, I’m assuming she knew he was a threat.
