I’ve been thinking that President Trump should repair the historical redlining issue with an executive order.

Require banks to drop any real estate point fees on home loans for black home owners from 1990 to 2050. If they hold the loan for a period of time. Maybe create a black ARM. I think the market size can absorb it. ColdWarrior probably knows this a lot better than I.

I mentioned it to a few conservatives already but it gets a luke warm response as being very low on a desired list of things to do. But to me it cements Trumps relationship with the middle class of the black community. It reinforces middle class values. It defines civil rights progress.

    Interesting idea

Sure- too many unqualified people getting loans they had no business getting. This started years ago, at least as early as Jimmy Carter.

And yeah, I’m tired of the racial crap too.

    @ right_wing2:

The incentives for the banks to do what they did – and then to use all those mortgages as a basis for derivative vehicles – was pure garbage. Stop doing things like that.

And frankly, if you think it would endear Trump to his white base, after all the BLM bull, think again.

Kansas health secretary used misleading charts to push mask mandate

The secretary for the Kansas Department of Health and Education is facing criticism for using a misleading chart while advocating for a statewide mask mandate.

Secretary Lee Norman gave a speech earlier this week detailing the difference in coronavirus cases between Kansas counties with a mask mandate and counties without one. According to a report from the Sentinel, Norman used an axis with a range of 15 to 25 to describe the number of new cases in masked counties and used a range of 4 to 14 to describe the number of new cases in counties without a mask mandate, making it appear as though counties without a mask mandate had more cases.

When the two sets of data are placed on a chart with the same axis, counties without a mask mandate have fewer new cases per day than counties with a mask mandate. Norman told reporters that counties with a mask mandate were “winning the battle” against the coronavirus.

“All of the improvement in the case development comes from those counties wearing masks,” he said.

    @ eaglesoars:
A fundamental problem in the US is we are teaching kids to use the adjectives black and white as a required attachment to every noun we speak. And the dems educated their slaves to think of themselves as perpetual victims. Even if the names changed and the shackles were removed. How do we self correct?

I’ve been through black soul, black pride, Affirmative Action, EEO, institutional racism, systemic racism, white flight, White privilege. It’s all wrong because of the results. I grew to think I could give my house, my wife, my kids, my car, my dog, my salary to the black victim and it wouldn’t be enough. Because the problem is in the self created victims head not mine. These are narcissistic victims. Malignant ones that can’t see out of the hole they dug for themselves.

However in the military all my best leaders were young black Sergeants. Then post military all the black managers I met in my job were incredibly whiny victims. There were exceptions. A guy direct from Nigeria. A man and a woman both from Ethiopia. All three new to the country.

How does one strike at this consciousness? By leadership? How do you build trust that resonates good market behavior?

historical woes? Don’t be a victim. Listen to a David Goggins youtube video if one thinks of oneself as a victim. I’d let David Goggins be the ambassador for Trumps Redlining repair effort. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLKxdTmk-zc

The Holocaust has more extreme but similar stories to David Goggins.

    A note for Martian Overlord

As you have only 2 more years to go, you may not be interested in this, but there are people really working on homeschooling/networking curriculum stuff

Homeschool Moms & Dads of Instapundit: I know you’re out there. I’ve read many of your comments. I’m working with someone who is trying to create a new type of homeschool network with a generally libertarian/classical emphasis. (Not religious, but traditional, and definitely not left-wing.) A lot of the educational planning has been done, but not the organizational development.

From what I’ve seen of it, this project has the potential to become a significant national organization. If you’re a current or retired homeschooler, or if you’ve worked with groups like Scouts, 4-H, Heritage Girls, Grange, etc., and you might be interested in following or getting involved with a project like this, send me an email at e.d.dorsatum@gmail.com (your privacy is assured). Instapundit homeschool folks are all so clever and talented (not to mention well dressed and good looking), I suspect this project might appeal to many of them.

the cricket starts on the 18th, available in the US on willow.tv

there will be no crowds, which is unfortunate because they are insane and fun to watch! going to one of these is on my bucket list. it is top notch T20 cricket. the best players from around the world play for each team…T20 means 20 overs which are 6 balls each over per side to score as many runs as they can, 120 in total. that makes for 3 or 4 hours of great cricket. after a few games you will ‘get it’ and begin to understand the game.

    eaglesoars wrote:

And already I don’t understand it. HA!

    you will.

    in short:

each over is 6 balls bowled by the bowler. the batter is out if the ball is caught on the fly, the bails (those wooden things at either end) knocked over while they are running, or if the batter is LBW (leg before wicket) where the ball does not touch the bat but hits the batter and it is judged that the ball would have knocked over the wicket/stumps. the most exciting way to get an out is for the bowler to knock over the wickets (aka stumps) as in i’m stumped….

there is one bowler and two batters, one on each end.

runs are scored by running back and forth between the two wickets after the ball is put in play by the batter, one run for each time the two batters make it to the wicket, the ball is batted over the outfield rope (6 runs), the ball runs to the outfield rope (4 runs).

Guess we are lucky here in the north. Last time I was in the local gun shop they had crates of 7.62×54, buckets of 9mm both Blazer and Remington. Out of the .45 buckets though. Reloading supplies are good as well.
Unfortunately I can’t afford any shooting supplies currently. Only have about 700 rounds of 9mm, and about 200 .45 rounds. Have enough supplies for almost 500 .45 to reload if needed. Having issues with the .45 1911 currently, locks up and fails to eject after one or two rounds and I have tried everything that might work. Gunsmith trip is in the cards this week.

yeah, I remember him and his 13 ‘keys. Don’t bother to buy the book, it’s right here in wiki and we can have a fun game with it

The 13 Keys to the White House

The Keys are statements that favor victory (in the popular vote count) for the incumbent party. When five or fewer statements are false, the incumbent party is predicted to win the popular vote; when six or more are false, the challenging party is predicted to win the popular vote.[4]

    ——————–

Party Mandate: After the midterm elections, the incumbent party holds more seats in the U.S. House of Representatives than after the previous midterm elections.

Contest: There is no serious contest for the incumbent party nomination.

Incumbency: The incumbent party candidate is the sitting president.

Third party: There is no significant third party or independent campaign.

Short-term economy: The economy is not in recession during the election campaign.

Long-term economy: Real per capita economic growth during the term equals or exceeds mean growth during the previous two terms.

Policy change: The incumbent administration effects major changes in national policy.

Social unrest: There is no sustained social unrest during the term.

Scandal: The incumbent administration is untainted by major scandal.

Foreign/military failure: The incumbent administration suffers no major failure in foreign or military affairs.

Foreign/military success: The incumbent administration achieves a major success in foreign or military affairs.

Incumbent (party) charisma: The incumbent party candidate is charismatic or a national hero.

Challenger (party) charisma: The challenging party candidate is not charismatic or a national hero.

The above 13 keys are slightly different from the 12 keys originally proposed in 1981.[2]

    2020 United States presidential election

As of August 5 2020, Allan Lichtman predicts that Donald Trump will lose the 2020 United States presidential election to challenger Joe Biden based on seven of the thirteen keys of his prediction model turning false against the incumbency.[5][6]

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Keys_to_the_White_House#The_13_Keys_to_the_White_House

I’ll start: Let’s look at the guiding rule, shall we?

The Keys are statements that favor victory (in the popular vote count) for the incumbent party. When five or fewer statements are false, the incumbent party is predicted to win the popular vote; when six or more are false, the challenging party is predicted to win the popular vote.[4]

Too bad we use the electoral college and not the popular vote, huh Hillary?

I’m having a brain freeze – I can’t remember the term for the money stashed the univs have stashed away. BUT. Seize those, pay off the student debt with it, and going forward make the univs co-sign all debt notes the students sign.

Well, it’s letting me watch previous matches w/no subscription. And already I don’t understand it. HA!

Eventually you will catch the Cricket bug and once hooked you will even mainline cricket… that is watch Test Cricket for 5 days at a time.

It’s like heroin. You just drift in and out and watch snippets of the game while you get on with your life. A radio playing in the background is the way most maintain their fix. When something extraordinary happens you quickly switch on the TV for a few instant replays. That way you maintain your ‘fix’ for the whole 5 days while still seeing all the good stuff. Test cricket is like 3 D chess. The game swings one way and then back the other between the teams. The aficionados love the subtle waxes and wanes of the game and the mental games that are payed like pulling in a majority of fielders in a tight circle ( called slips) around a tired batsman and dare him to play aggressively while tricky ‘spin bowlers weave their mesmerising magic with balls that move isideways in the air and then break back the other way on the pitch!

Once you understand the rules and they are not all that complicated really you will love this game.

I’d suggest trying 20:20 (3 hour game) first as this is slash and bash and full of action but no real subtle play.

Then graduate to One Day (or Day/night) cricket known as 50 over cricket. There is still action aplenty and a good dose of skilled play and excitement.

Then comes Test cricket where your brain is pandered to by the game as well as your heart!

    🙂

    Enjoy Eagles

In short? Stupid. Semi-automatic rifles have a five round limit. Hand guns 10 rounds. Hand guns require a separate permit and can only be transported from home to the range in a locked container (there’s a few other times but that’s about it). Purchasing a handgun takes minutes to complete the transaction then three to four weeks for permission to take it from the store to home.
I could go on, but that’s the summation.

Washington Wild Things suspend season, citing possible crackdown by state police

The Washington Wild Things said in a press release Monday that they have officially suspended their 2020 season after being warned by the Pennsylvania State Police that the continuation of their season could lead to enforcement actions.

The announcement comes a month after the Wild Things held their opening night July 9.

“We are extremely frustrated right now,” Steven Zavacky, executive director and president of the organization said in a statement. “We have done everything humanly possible to safely operate our facility…… we have gone above and beyond, and it was working.”

Extended quarantine just delays the costs.

I didn’t think that the Swedes had the solution but right now I have changed my mind. Eradication actually worked for NZ because we are a couple of islands at the end of the world. That said however the stupid socialist government refused to leverage that advantage when it had the chance. Now we have managed and quarantined citizens returnees doing their 14 days lockdown in military supervised hotels. Except for the folks who get to flout the rules somehow and self isolate at home.

RTeading between the lines the five positive cases are probably chinese nationals who hold NZ Residency and somehow mixed with someone who slipped through the quarantine structures. If that is so then there is going to be hell to pay for the NZ Chinese 2% of the population. The two family run shops owned by this family apparently sell Chinese food and pills but have not kept any logs of customers because we were in Level #1 and it was unnecessary. NOW we will see whether the tracing system actually works!

Parliament was supposed to ‘rise’ tonight and not resit until after the September elections. The Leader of the Opposition has demanded that Parliament extends it’s term until after this current scare is over as the cross party Covid Control Committee can’t sit if all the MPs are in their electorates. She also demands that the election is delayed until the end of the year or early next year because electioneering under lockdown is impossible. And NO postal ballots are NOT going to be allowed for the general election as they are full of security holes.

#2 son has just texted from his Station and says they all NZ Police will be required to bunk down at their Stations until further notice. That’s code for this thing is going to get out of control. Thanks President XI and your me band of Covid super-spreaders!

Made it down to the beach thank goodness.

Apparently the sole current testing station for Wuhan Fly in Wiri South Auckland (think SE LA)have a question of cars waiting for tests stretching 500 metres in both directions. Estimated wait time is 3 1/2 hours and with traffic control just outside the testing station. There is a VERY wet grass strip down the middle of the road that is just daring anyone stupid enough to try to cross it without getting bogged to escape this log jam of vehicles. The Tongans and Samoans are currently punching each other out and rolling around n the mud fighting …. to pass the time while waiting for their test1

I DID notice that. This is happening in Australia too. There was an Opus Dei Girls School for senior girls who went on a religious retreat and about 30% came down with Wuhan Flu. What was ‘conveniently ‘ left out of the story was that they were 17818 years old and hardly children! Yet now the Lock down forces are using this as an excuse to close ALL schools!
