Not sure the date and location of this metal sculpture, but it appears that the artisan likes how it turned out. It’s titled “DNC2020.”

Let’s see if this post magically resolves the comment problem downstairs. Installing the new WordPress version issued 1 September would be a mistake IMO. It sucks bidens and you won’t like it.

Carry on, me bloogs.

What a night. My very expensive router just went to crap. Just keeps rebooting over and over. Factory reset did nothing. Don’t know what the hell to do. Can’t afford to replace it right now. Don’t really want to run my credit cards back up. Crap.

I wonder….is Roger Goodell biting his nails in advance of the NFL Season Opener tomorrow night? Because in a recent interview, he was already making excuses as to why the ratings this season might be poor. And, surprisingly, he never mentioned how his allowing the league to become more politicized might be a factor.

And now they want Krapperdick in the Hall of Fame. If they do, I can see a lot of current inductees resigning, since it no longer carries any honor or distinction to be part of it.

We’re in the Denver area visiting right now. The Guvn’r is going to allow 5700 fans in to the stadium to watch the game in person. … and maybe, if people behave themselves, they might allow more fans in as the season progresses. Into a stadium that has a 76,000+ capacity.

The NFL makes enough TV money to sustain itself without fans in the seats. The NBA and especially the NHL are in real trouble due to Covid restrictions, as gate receipts are a much larger percentage of their earnings.

    That’s a good point.

  16. 16 | September 9, 2020 2:33 pm

    @ RIX:

Of course, it’s the NETWORKS that will be taking a hit. DirecTV is probably going to lose big on the Sunday Ticket franchise because not only are the home subscribers not renewing (like mine) but the big money comes from bars and restaurants that offer it to their customers and who pay a much higher premium for the service. Bars are not open. Restaurants are not open. And even if they were, the capacity restrictions are going to be such that the establishments will not see a profit; so I imagine they are canceling as well and will order it again if and when it will be beneficial to them.

The networks have a different problem. They sell ads at prices based on ratings. If the ratings don’t materialize, the networks are then forced to go back and give those advertisers either reduced or even FREE ads at the latter part of the season.

What I’d love to see is the contracts between DirecTV and the Networks for rights to carry. Because I really think the case can be made by each of these entities that the severe decline in ratings (which I think there will be) is due to the NFL’s own policies and behavior. And if that’s the case, there may be grounds for breach and opportunity to renegotiate. And that’s going to hit them in the pocketbook.

Stole my kids router and am using it to hold myself over. Surprisingly I’m getting better coverage and speeds. I think it’s because it has wifi 6. I also think I’ve found my next router. Instead of going with another asus gt ac5300 I’ll go with the ax5400. Cheaper but with wifi 6, faster speeds, better range. Nice part is, I have a time now, Never thought the small router I bought for the kids for my mesh network would have better whole house coverage than my giant gaming router.

    Biden Campaign policies.

Make racial equity part of the Federal Reserve.

The Federal Reserve Racial and Economic Equity Act will require the Federal Reserve System (Fed) to use its existing authorities to address the ongoing crisis of racial inequality and disparities in economic outcomes. This bill has three primary components:

    1. Makes Reducing Inequality Part of the Fed’s Mission: This bill adds a new section to the Federal Reserve Act that would require the Fed to carry out its functions in a way that “minimizes and eliminates racial disparities in employment, wages, wealth, and access to affordable credit.”

    2. Ensures that Racial Economic Disparities are Not Ignored: This legislation requires the Federal Reserve Chair to identify in his or her semiannual testimony before Congress:

    (1) the existing disparities in employment, income and wealth across racial and ethnic groups and (2) how the Fed is using its authorities to reduce these disparities.

    3. Requires Robust Reporting on Disparities in Labor Force Trends: This bill requires the Fed’s Semiannual Monetary Policy Report that the Fed releases in conjunction with the Chair’s testimony to include recent labor force trends with “a comparison among different demographic groups, including race, gender, and educational attainment.”

Remember the mystery seeds from China? Some were alarmed.

“The emails between public officials and scientists, who were dealing with a difficult situation, seem efficient, professional, and appropriately cautious. But communication from the general public is concerning. People planted seeds even when expressly told not to. Hundreds of people had no idea whether they had ever ordered seeds, or how to check. Some people called 911. Others ate the seeds. Others ordered something specific, got what they ordered from who they ordered it from, then still panicked. Others were furious they had to pay for postage to send the seeds to the government. From one recipient in North Carolina: “I did not receive seeds. I received a suspicious package from China with a spoon and a fork in it my concerns are that it is full of Covid.”

Question for you CW: As mentioned above, we are visiting the Denver area; Mom & Dad have the local news on a lot. Today’s talking heads giggle bit was about what to do if you are wearing your mask and have to sneeze. According to somebody, you should sneeze in your mask because if you take it off, you defeat the purpose. Then you are to get out a spare mask since you have contaminated the one you are wearing. So, what strikes me: If you sneeze, those little 1/24 the size of the mask fiber viruses are going to be stripped from any droplets and propelled into wherever you are sneezing whereas if you sneeze into your elbow or a kleenex, you are going to capture whatever is expelled. Plus, who just sneezes one time? Am I missing something here?

    @ AZfederalist:

sneeze into a mask that you have been wearing? think claymore mine.

mask off, sneeze into your elbow if you are wearing a long sleeve shirt or into a large cloth and then throw it out and wash your hands.

if a surgeon has to sneeze, he turns away from the patient and sneezes into a sterile OR towel, then has to get rid of the mask, re-scrub in, that means new gown and gloves and hat and mask. if have cannot be away form the operation for that long, the mask and gloves and gown have to be taken off in a certain way and chemicals are used to clean up the hands arms and face, then all is put back on.

scrubbing in takes a very long time

why would you believe anything Woodward has to say? He’s been lying his entire career. That signal Deepthroat and he supposedly used to communicate? When Woodward wanted a meeting, he’d move a flowerpot on his balcony that could be seen from a parking garage next door? Yeah, no. Somebody walked thru all of Woodward’s stuff – that balcony is not visible from the garage. Remember when Woodward said he sneaked into the hospital to interview Bob Casey, Dir CIA, when he was dying from a brain tumor? Hugh Hewitt interviewed Casey’s doctor who blew it out of the water. Casey’s room was guarded, no one got in or out and Casey was not able to communicate. And I’m sorry, but whatever else Mattis is, stupid isn’t on the list. Treason via military coup is not something he’s going to discuss with a civilian.

Did anyone ask Dan Coates to confirm? Yeah, I’ll wait.

  54. eaglesoars
    56 | September 10, 2020 9:46 am

The first domino to fall was Woodward’s contention that Deep Throat was Felt and Felt only, and not a composite character based on numerous sources. The journalist Ed Gray demolished this myth when he completed In Nixon’s Web (2008), the posthumous memoir of his father, L. Patrick Gray III, the acting FBI director during Watergate. In this the Grays benefited from access not only to Woodward’s notes and papers at the University of Texas but also from Pat Gray’s own FBI archive (45 boxes’ worth). In Nixon’s Web exposed how Woodward’s reporting attributed information to Deep Throat that Mark Felt simply could not have known in November 1973, at the time of their last (alleged) meeting in a garage in Rosslyn, Virginia. The book also showed that Woodward’s Deep Throat file included notes from an interview he had conducted not with Mark Felt but with another source at the time, whom the Grays confirmed to be Justice Department official Don Santarelli. Pressed on such matters, Woodward dismissed them as “technical, wiring-diagram issues.”

More recently, we have learned that among those harboring deep skepticism about Woodward’s account of Deep Throat—so critical to the Washington Post’s coverage of Watergate, and to the Woodward legacy—was the man to whose memory The Last of the President’s Men is dedicated: Ben Bradlee, the executive editor who oversaw that coverage.

Rummaging through Bradlee’s papers for an authorized biography, Jeff Himmelman—himself a trusted former researcher to Woodward—came across an unpublished 1990 interview in which Bradlee had confided his misgivings about Woodward’s reliability. “Did that potted [plant] incident ever happen?” Bradlee mused about the notion that Woodward moved a flowerpot on his balcony to signal for meetings with Deep Throat. Likewise, about the purported rendezvous in the garage, Bradlee wondered: “One meeting in the garage? Fifty meetings in the garage? I don’t know how many meetings [there were] in the garage.” He added: “There’s a residual fear in my soul that that isn’t quite straight.”

Geoff Shepard laid bare the contortions that were required for Sirica to overlook Woodward and Bernstein’s brazen interference with the grand-jury process.
Nor did Himmelman’s archival discoveries stop there. He also found contemporaneous notes showing that contrary to four decades of flat denials on the point by Woodward and Bernstein, the latter had indeed approached and interviewed a Watergate grand juror—a violation of law—and had deliberately misled the readers of All the President’s Men to portray the grand juror as an employee of the Nixon reelection campaign. Indeed, Himmelman exposed half a dozen lies, evasions, deceptions, misrepresentations, and other journalistic sleights of hand on a single page of All of the President’s Men.
The final product was Yours in Truth: A Personal Portrait of Ben Bradlee (2012). Were it up to Woodward, the book’s explosive contents would have been suppressed. Writing in New York magazine, Himmelman recorded how Woodward sought to intimidate his former protégé:

In 1988, he published “Veil: The Secret Wars of the C.I.A., 1981-1987,” which contained his famous account of a deathbed conversation with William Casey, the former C.I.A. director. Casey, according to Woodward’s telling, admitted that he knew about the illegal diversion of monies from Iranian arms sales to the Nicaraguan Contras. “His head jerked up hard,” Woodward wrote. “He stared, and finally nodded yes.” “Why?” Woodward asked. Casey whispered, “I believed.” Did it happen like that? Even today, it’s a matter of dispute. In 2010, a former C.I.A. employee, who was part of Casey’s security detail, claimed Woodward “fabricated” the story after being turned away from Casey’s room at Georgetown University Hospital. Woodward dismissed the agent’s statement, saying agency guards were not present around the clock.

mask off, sneeze into your elbow if you are wearing a long sleeve shirt or into a large cloth and then throw it out and wash your hands.

if a surgeon has to sneeze, he turns away from the patient and sneezes into a sterile OR towel, then has to get rid of the mask, re-scrub in, that means new gown and gloves and hat and mask. if have cannot be away form the operation for that long, the mask and gloves and gown have to be taken off in a certain way and chemicals are used to clean up the hands arms and face, then all is put back on.

scrubbing in takes a very long time

That’s why this whole thing is such a blatant fraud. We have a talking head doc here in our state constantly on an ad on tv telling us that he’s proud that as a healthy person he’s protecting other healthy people by wearing a mask. Huh? WTF? That doesn’t even make sense, where the hell did he get his medical degree?

On Tuesday I was back in the clinic, dropped my mask when I was away from everyone. Got up to take a leak, forgot to put the mask back up and walked by everyone including staff. No one said anything, even when I spoke to them.

It was my honest mistake, more for my protection than that of others, but the lack of concern is telling.

Wish our clinic was like that. Admin staff has kittens if you don’t have a mask. Still won’t allow my disabled nephews to have appointments because they can’t wear the freaking things on their faces. Doctors have no say, admin controls all.

So there was a FOIA request (from I don’t know who yet) to get the phone recs from some members of the Mueller team, Andrew Weissmann among them.

    @ Bunk X:

Here is another example of a takedown of an Amazon delivery truck in LA.

A well-informed friend shared it with me:

So the gimme free stuff crowd is moving on the smaller targets.
Obviously preplanned. Watch for gathering BLM/Antifa communist democrat useful idiots ahead of any delivery schedule.

Either Amazon dispatch is penetrated, or scout cars are bird doggin’ delivery trucks.

Observe the Antifa lady get bulldozed by her comrades as she videos the event.
A normal person would be in a safer location, dialing 911, and verbally describing what was going on. Urban ISIS small unit tactics on display.

Maintain your distance from delivery trucks- observe and report. Do not get involved. Even if you saved the life of the driver, Amazon would give you up in a heartbeat!

Observe the identifying clothes. Observe the vehicle patterns.

    Team one- black and red.
    Team two- all black.
    Team three- red and white.
    Team four- black and white.

Public relations support group- regular civvy attire.

Get away vehicles in the street.

Cops in patrol cars would not be able to approach the crime scene.

You have to assume that the blocking vehicles are threats.

You would need a bus load of cops, in sprinter’s gear to even get close to the scene.

You would need about a hundred cops to secure a perimeter, arriving from different directions, in multiple vehicles, with rapid bail-out capability to get enough cops, in enough positions, fast enough, to contain the crime scene.

Where’s this leading? If good guys secure the grocery stores, BLM/Antifa will hit the delivery trucks at a stoplight someplace.

Targeting sequence- personal use stuff- practice.

    Unit/team/organization -resupply stuff.

Stuff that can be resold- pocket money.

Also, for our firm-issued phones, we are REQUIRED to provide our IT Department the passcode for these phones. I am surprised that the DOJ did not have the same requirement.

What may prove interesting in this whole phone “swiping” affair is that hopefully they’ll call in one of those jerks and begin threatening him/her with prosecution and a grand jury and that they’ll completely fold, and give the details of how this happened.

Putting on my tin-foil hat, I’m thinking when Weissman saw that subpoena he knew his goose was cooked and he immediately gave instructions to the others to intentionally destroy the evidence.

By the way, I do not need my password to turn my phone on and off “airplane” mode. I only have to do that if the phone goes into sleep mode. At that time I either have to use facial recognition or enter the passcode, which is true for ANY phone secured by a passcode.

There was no WAY these clowns didn’t know their passcodes – they would have had to use them probably three or four times a day.

    In other news….

Irving Kanarek, who served as Charles Manson’s attorney, has died at age 100. Kanerek was famous for filing frivolous motions and objections during direct or cross by the opposing side. In fact, at one point in the Manson trial, Bugliosi was at his wit’s end and said “Your honor, I object to that question as being ridiculous!” and the judge, also exasperated with Kanerek at that point, granted it.

In case anyone’s interested, Samantha Fish will be doing her first live show since march tomorrow evening at 9 eastern/6 pacific time. It’s also going to be the first time in several years that she’s performing with a trio, rather than the 6- or 7-piece band she’s had for the last three albums. Should be interesting.

There is far less politics on the Joey Ramone punk rock channel on XM than in sports now.

    Ironic.

My go to podcasts used to be CigarDave and Dee Snider’s House of Hair (not exactly a podcast but I could never catch it on radio so I’d catch it on cast).

FWIW, Damone Ramone never got the credit he deserved.
