NCAA Football Week 9 Open

by coldwarrior ( 176 Comments › )
Filed under College Football, Open thread at October 31st, 2020 - 7:00 am

i was 2/3 last week, so that gets me back to $1000/$1000…or 3 for 6.

Only a few games of interest on tap for this weekend, but there is a TON of 6 Nations Rugby on all day! Woot!

Boston College at #1 Clemson 12:00 PM. No Trevor Lawrence today…Clemson won’t need him tho. BC is getting 24. Clemson covers.

LSU at Auburn 3:30 PM, Neither team is ranked. The War Eagle is getting 2.5. I think that they can beat this spread.

#3 Ohio State at #18 Penn State 7:30 PM. PSU is getting 10.5 at home. I just don’t think that they can cover.

    dammit.

Look at this idiocy from the NYT (about an hour ago). Trump took advantage of century-old tax law (depreciation) to decrease his tax burden. But they call it SO-CALLED depreciation. And they don’t want you to ask how they got tax docs they aren’t supposed to have.

For some reason this article isn’t behind a paywall. They sound as tho the entire real estate industry is one huge tax dodge for the wealthy.

This is the funniest thing you will read all weekend. I’m stringing together the tweets that begin with this one (and the video is priceless)

    https://twitter.com/ericcervini/status/1322336226792321025

I flew down to Texas to help with the Biden/Harris bus tour, intended to drum up enthusiasm at polling locations. Instead, I ended up spending the afternoon calling 911

See all these pickup trucks with Trump flags? They were sitting along I-35, waiting to ambush the Biden/Harris campaign bus as it traveled from San Antonio to Austin

These Trump supporters, many of whom were armed [quelle horror!], surrounded the bus on the interstate and attempted to drive it off the road. They outnumbered police 50-1, and they ended up hitting a staffer’s car

The police refused to help. When I flagged down one officer, he said his hands were tied: “not my jurisdiction.” He was wearing a blue stripe bandana

Understandably, though nobody was hurt, the rest of the tour was cancelled. And as a historian who studied the rise of the Third Reich, I can tell you: this is how a democracy dies

While Germany still had elections and Hitler was merely a disgraced politician, his militia of Brownshirts interrupted his opponents’ political meetings and incited violence on the streets. You know what happened next

We don’t know what Trump’s supporters (or Russia) have planned for Tuesday. We don’t know what kind of intimidation and suppression will inevitably occur

But we can be prepared. In the next four days, we can create such a landslide that their efforts are futile, sending a message that Nazi tactics have no place in America.

Consider traveling to a swing state near you to canvass in person

And if you can’t, please commit to one shift of phone banking per day. Since we can’t celebrate Halloween, you could do it with your roommates or loved ones

We have four days, and I sure as hell don’t want to wake up on Wednesday wishing I had done more to save our democracy. Please join me.

You know that Miles Taylor guy who wrote that ‘Anonymous’ NYT article and turned out to be a nobody. Here’s the skinny on him from somebody who actually worked with him

The idea that he promotes himself as the former Chief of Staff is absurd. For 99 percent of the time during Secretary Nielsen’s tenure, Chad Wolf served as the Chief of Staff. Only after Wolf shifted to the role as Under Secretary of Policy, did Taylor try to assume the role as Acting Chief of Staff. Within a few weeks, maybe two months at most, Taylor successfully got himself fired from the position and was out of the Department a few weeks later.

Among “disturbing” signals ahead of Tuesday’s vote, the Washington Post reports a sharp increase in gun sales, a “spike in chatter about civil war in online forums where right-wing extremists gather” and an “embrace of violent language by President Trump and other leaders”.

So, because the precedent is set, should [Lord forbid] Biden win, Biden cannot rescind this EO, right? Because the courts have ruled that future presidents cannot do that. Executive Orders are now eternal. The courts said so.

TO my knowledge neither Jeb Bush nor George Bush have come out in support for Trump. That says a lot about ivy league GoP. IMO this election is the most critical one for freedom since the Civil War. Trump has delivered on the Supreme Court and on Middle East peace. In a way no previous POTUS has. He has also put jobs first and hammered China.

there are stark contrasts this election. Media Censorship. The choice between Marxist BLM that wants to kill police and law and order. Trump didn’t create these environments. He exposed them.

While I am a huge GWB supporter I am learning to redefine what honest people are like in this election. A lot of the GWB elder statesman above the fray stuff was honorable a few years ago but now its a load of crap.

Fence sitters are bane of freedom today. Obama engraved the polarizing of the electorate based on race and class. The vote is important for freedom.

This is a very succinct exposure of how the polling scam works. It’s an object, so I can’t cut-paste, but the gist…

    1. Dems up double digits for 6 mos.
    – this discourages Rs
    – sways Indies toward Ds
    – de-legitimizes R if they win

    2. 1 month prior, adjust absurd D +17 sample to artificially create ‘tightening race
    – this motivates Ds to not take race for granted

    3. Final week, turn off D oversample to report actual result so the pollsters can claim credibility.

    Same play, every time.

    Here’s the complete doc

    @ eaglesoars:
I never like to suggest it but any shrink worth talking to will say based on their experience over decades of analysis that child abuse is the number one cause of Hunter’s psychology. People have different characters. Parental Alcoholism causes a lot of this. Some of the kids will grow up to be Navy Seals and save people others will be withdrawn and using addictions to replace their parents.

    @ darkwords:

There’s a devastating interview Biden did with Kitty Kelly published in The Washingtonian. It was after his wife and daughter were killed (he’s lied about the circumstances his entire life) and before he met Jill, his current wife. At the time he was dating a reporter, Francie Bernard. Anyway, what would creep anybody how Biden talked about his wife

“Let me show you my favorite picture of her,” he says, holding up a snapshot of Neilia in a bikini. “She had the best body of any woman I ever saw. She looks better than a Playboy bunny, doesn’t she?

“My beautiful millionaire wife was a conservative Republican before she met me. But she changed her registration.

    WHAT??!!

    https://www.washingtonian.com/1974/06/01/joe-biden-kitty-kelley-1974-profile-death-and-the-all-american-boy/

This is from 1974 and the rest of it is interesting for its speculation that he’s perfect for the WH.

Hunter had TBI at a young age. Really tough. Interesting article.

Biden seems corrupt to me. Someone who is smaller than the system.

Its Alexa play Irish Pub Music night.

Pub Life was rich in England. Its something I miss. Closet I get is a dive tavern at a cheap HWY location. They have to have pickled eggs, pull tabs, and 1$ beers. And a crowded pool table in the back where you can’t get free movement to make a good shot. Though I drink seldom now.

This is rally roulette. Check out this video from
@mattyhoyeCNN at Trump rally in GA. We had to make our own path through a massive crowd of Trump supporters. It was wall to wall people. Zero social distancing. Just a few folks here and there wearing masks

The car accident. But his drug use would make it worse.

Beyond that thought I think the Biden family has that alcoholic narcissism in it that tends to abuse kids. Hunter would have grown up in a hell.
