The Department will continue to receive and vigorously pursue all specific and credible allegations of fraud as expeditiously as possible.”

    @ lobo91:

Back in NY state, in the 80s at least, the law was that at least one person on the call had to be aware of the taping. In other words a third party taping the conversation of 2 people was illegal if neither of them (those two) knew they were being taped. Example: You (3rd party) could not legally record a husband and wifes phone conversation unless either the husband or/and the wife knew it was being recorded.
Across state lines though, I do not recall. The case I was involved in, both the caller and the receiver of the call lived within NY’s borders.

There was a great witness at the Michigan Senate hearings today. They seems to be saying that there is not enough evidence of fraud. Then when presented with enough evidence saying it is too much I can’t grasp it.

  69. 73 | December 2, 2020 3:30 am

    @ darkwords:
I see a few scenarios, and none of them are particularly good.

There’s not enough time to ferret out all the fraud and correct the ballot stuffing – too much evidence has been destroyed and supoenas for litigation will be delayed or ignored. Any recounts will be disputed.

This seems to set it on the plate of the State’s electors, in which case Trump has a good chance of winning. That will result in more riots, arson, looting and death, and may force Trump to enact martial law.

Or, to keep the domestic tranquility (caving to extortion) Trump may step down, or the Electors will flip, in violation of the U.S. Constitution, and force him to.

The Supreme Court doesn’t want to choose the President, and even if they took the case(s), they’re split in ideology.

That gives us Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, both of which are incompetent, and the Presidential duties will be performed by a dark oligarchy, perhaps led by Obama. At that point, Congress will have the power and duty to squelch. The GOP is the weak link as they’ve proven over and over again.

4 years of stagnation in Congress isn’t a bad thing, but how it will affect a nervous economy is foggy, especially since the Covid game isn’t going away anytime soon.

China is about to join the poker game, too.

    I don’t know…

In an Oct. 19 order, obtained by The Associated Press (remember too that AP has a conduit direct into the CIA and all that that implies these days !), Barr says Durham is authorized “to investigate whether any federal official, employee or any person or entity violated the law in connection with the intelligence, counter-intelligence or law enforcement activities” directed at the 2016 presidential campaigns, anyone associated with the campaigns or the Trump administration.

This is bullshit dressed up as candy.
Appointing Durham as a “Special Investigator” rather than his original role, now means that Durham CANNOT now indict people on his own.
He now needs to get the AG to indict.
    Bidens AG!
Barr just made sure no one will EVER be held accountable. Barr keeps attempting to play both sides of the street especially by his total lac of overwatch on Wray’s FBI investigations of electoral abnormalities and criminal activities. Just another swamp creature trying to look not quite so swamp-ish at a time of change.

    @ Aussie Infidel:

I believe that is incorrect. Here is Ken Starr on Mueller

So what might the underlying confidential report from the special counsel to the attorney general look like? In keeping with the regulations, it could be a short executive summary, with lots of attachments—namely, the indictments that the Mueller probe has successfully presented to grand juries in the District of Columbia and the Eastern District of Virginia.

What powers does a special counsel have?

The special counsel has the powers of a US attorney – meaning he can subpoena records and bring criminal charges. And Mr Mueller did so.

He can also prosecute anyone who interferes in his investigation through crimes including perjury, obstruction of justice, destruction of evidence, and intimidation of witnesses.

The special counsel can also ask for his jurisdiction to be widened, and is not supervised on a day-to-day basis.

But the attorney general may request an explanation for “any investigative or prosecutorial step” and can decide that any such action does not need to proceed – though he must notify Congress if such a decision is made.

My understanding was that relegating Durham to the status of Special Council insulated him from a hostile incoming AG but the trade offf was the loss of some of his prosecutorial powers.

THAT is true. Altho if any indictments come out of it, I don’t know how you keep those secret.

The current Special Counsel regs were established under Janet Reno and they have not been changed. Any POTUS can fire a Special Counsel but the political fallout is the issue. Biden can still fire Durham and stay within the regs. The media will cover for him, and because no one expects him to be more than a one-term POTUS – if that – he’s got nothing to lose. Nobody expects the utterly supine Republicans to do anything about it except send out fundraising email.

Barr HAS made a mistake tho. He should have told Durham to write up what he has and release it and continue with his investigation. Nothing I read in the regs said the investigation has to be concluded for a report to be written. For justice to be done it must be SEEN to be done, and altho Barr may be an institutionalist trying to save the DOJ from accusations of political bias, it’s too late for that now. It’s no different than Roberts and his risible SCOTUS opinions trying to show SCOTUS isn’t political.

I think AG Barr is smart enough to be independent. I think he listens to all voices and gives emphasis to the elite powers that run DC. Obama and Bush are comfortable with him. And he endures Trump. Barr has that type of personality. He is probably better described by his career than by his work in the Trump administration.

IMO that means Trump has to drag him across the crime scene several times before anything sticks to any great degree. Barr is someone who sees Washington in the moment through Barr eyes. He does not see Washington in terms of the Revolution or its history. He lost sight of that long ago.

All just my opinion from when I hear him talk. I was impressed by his demeanor in the Senate questioning by idiots. But also he is probably willing to let all that slide.

But then this means the DOJ is unfaithful to the principles of the country and can’t be trusted by a regular citizen. In the old days this could be blocked in the news. These days a lot harder.

Forget a pistol Eagles. For serious Home Defence a semi auto shotgun of Bullpen design is the ONLY way to go girl. Seriously, load birdshot for a practical anti-home invasion weapon. It does the job up close and personal 2 to 12 feet ( these are the ranges you will be using inside the home). Birdshot is just as lethal at 12 feet as solid slugs at 12 feet. The kicker is that birdshot doesn’t penetrate double plaster board very well so you don’t have to worry about collateral through wall damage.

The spread of birdshot is small and the sheer weight of shot on target at 2-12 feet certainly does the job for you.

They are already acting as publishers. By removing Section 230, this confirms said status and they may censor away, but it also means that everyone knows that is what they are. I think it would be better if they were declared de-facto monopolies and their editorial policies regulated to ensure that they are truly abiding by Section 230 and truly acting as platform providers.
