I’m old enough to remember when the GOP had a majority and the executive office, then spent two years agreeing with Dems, saying “Why yes, we absolutely must spend our days investigating these very serious Russian collusion claims.”

Bidens thinking of appointing Kristen Clarke to the head the DOJ civil rights division.

Clarke is a proponent of Critical Race Theory. In 1994 she wrote a letter to the Harvard Crimson that “melanin endows blacks with greater mental, physical, and spiritual abilities – Something which can not be measured based on Eurocentric standards”. She also refers to Louis Farrakhan as the “GOAT”.

    From the epochtimes.

  10. lobo91

    @ darkwords:

Some of Carlsonā€™s attacks on Clarke include remarks by Clarke, ripped from context, about white supremacy during her Harvard years, when she contrasted it with black supremacy.

ā€œItā€™s not accidental that people on the right are specifically going after women of color and trying to dig up anything from their past even if itā€™s something that happened when theyā€™re 19,ā€ Jacobs said.

But it’s perfectly fine to dig up things (that probably didn’t even happen) from when a Supreme Court nominee was in high school, right?

And since she is CRT that means she is socialist driven. I came across a Fabian socialist who works for an MP in Britain awhile back. He thought revolution was needed everywhere and wanted to do his part.

Educational systems are causing all of this. Get kids into parochial school. Even some of those are bad.

But if the push keeps on pushing here there will be push back. Especially in times where a violent ANTIFA is given free rein and support in the media/congress. Especially when middle class businesses are being forced to close as part of a totalitarian agenda that the GOP is blind to.

Not a good idea. I think that’s the 22nd Cong Dist and it’s been blue forever. Current rep is Lois Frankel and she won the last race by almost 10 points. Trump is not popular with his neighbors, never has been. Right now, some Florida rep is trying to get Mar a Lago shut down because Trump had a ‘maskless’ party and somebody else is trying to get him thrown out altogether because there’s some rider that says he can only live there for a certain length of time per year. He’s been the target of petty harassment from Palm Beach ever since he bought the place.

A race that might be really interesting – Janice Dean is getting some serious support to run against Cuomo. She’s considering it……….altho given the power structure in that state, it would be tough

    We didn’t make the rules.

Weā€™ve learned from Monster Tech that all you have to do is declare someoneā€™s speech to be ā€œhatefulā€ or state that their speech might ā€œincite violenceā€ to banish someone from receiving service. If a deplorable can be targeted as hate-filled for simply supporting Trump, then a tradesmanā€™s Terms of Service can in turn declare that any visible support for Democrats constitutes hate speech.

Broken down on the side of the road with a Bernie or Biden bumper sticker? Sorry ā€“ youā€™re going to have to find a wrecker that employs all 57 genders and declares all their pronouns. But Earlā€™s 24-Hour Wrecker wonā€™t be towing your car today. Terms of service, you know.

Broken down furnace during a deep freeze? Too bad you advocated for a fracking ban on Facebook. Thatā€™s a violation of Smith HVACā€™s terms of service. It looks like youā€™ll need to find yourself an HVAC company that can fix you up with 100% renewable energy if you want your heat back on.

Itā€™s a shame about that plumbing leak, but your hate-filled ā€œHate Has No Home Hereā€ sign is a violation of Jones Plumbingā€™s terms of service

The Biden administration is apparently going after the ICC (International Code Council) for conflict of interest, in that they take input from National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).

The ICC writes and publishes building codes and standards, and has since the 1920s when the code was known as the Uniform Building Code and the ICC was ICBO (International Council of Building Officials).

The Committee on Energy and Commerce issued a letter to the ICC on 19 January that accuses them of chicanery based upon an article in the NYT.

Pursuant to Rules X and XI of the U.S. House of Representatives, we write to request information regarding the integrity of the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC), which is the basis for energy building codes around the country. Our Committee holds broad jurisdiction over the energy sector and, as such, has a leading role to play in ensuring building codes are developed in a transparent manner and meet the needs of the American people.

The New York Times and other media outlets have reported that the International Code Council (ICC) has a previously undisclosed written agreement with the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). This agreement allows NAHB disproportionate control over the code development process, including the selection of multiple members on ICC committees that draft model building codes.

That’s Honor to me. I seemed to have carried on that die for an idea into the rest of my life. Only a few times have I had to rise close to it. Usually there is a less extreme choice that can be talked though.

That Navy Seal and that General lack honor to me. Just because they can’t see. If the fraud had occurred in their commands they would be outraged. When it occurs in my world they just yawn. I suppose that says they are both Democrats.

Sounds like you were dealing with the planning / zoning department. Those guys are insufferable idiots who write their own arbitrary codes. The codes vary by city (and even by neighborhood in some places), and these days they’re pushing for high density over single family housing, presumably for the larger tax base.

Earthquake straps are real cheap and are a good idea. You don’t want all that weight to fall over and damage the gas connection, break the water lines and flood.
As for the other stuff you mention, upgrades aren’t required unless you do some significant alterations. Electical upgrades are usually a good idea. A lot of houses around here were wired with aluminum, but over time they corrode and cause fires, and it’s not allowed by code anymore.

When an electrical system is grounded, the electricity flows back to the source. When the stray current hits conducting metal it creates microscopic arcs that eventually eat through the pipe and cause a pinhole leak that worsens over time. We’re near a power plant; almost every house in this tract has had underground plumbing leaks.

Comment from the PJM Giuliani post:

Rudy-G is one of the world’s finest attorneys, who so far hasn’t been able to get anywhere because no Court anywhere would actually consent to consider any case on its merits.

I think that this would be an excellent chance for Rudy to finally get some discovery, as a defendant in a Court of Law. Now he can compel testimony. He can then systematically present to a jury the evidence that he has of election fraud and of Dominion’s technical role in it. Dominion will not like how that turns out . . . Rudy is a lawyer who once brought down the New York Mafia.

That whole “conservative entertainment” venture is destined to fail as well. As sure as Glenn Beck’s did.

The Left didn’t market “liberal entertainment.” They simply bought up and became the entertainment industry, period.

The key is to build and control the avenue first. Then you can exert influence over the product. A reactionary product will always feel forced and phony, no matter how well produced, IMHO.

A new ‘trick’ you need to be aware of. Re-writing history. Literally.

First, we have WaPo who edited an earlier profile of Kamala Harris to remove a tasteless joke she told about prisoners asking for water. They got caught and now provide a link to the original

Then there was some brouhaha about Tom Cotton, about not being the Ranger he said he is.

First, he never said it, all he said is that he’d gone thru the training and he wore the insignia. Newsweek then went back to a 2015 article on the Rangers, calling graduates ‘Rangers’ and changed it to support their accusation. THEY got caught.

Now the Boston Globe has started an initiative ‘Fresh Start’. They will rewrite their stories as in

The Boston Globe announced a new program that will allow people to ask the newspaper to update or anonymize past coverage of them online. The ā€œFresh Startā€ initiative is part of a broader effort to rethink the Globeā€™s criminal justice coverage and how it affects communities of color, amid a national reckoning over racial inequity.

Similar to ā€œright to forgetā€ programs

The U.S. Army Ranger Course, on the other hand, which Cotton did attend, is described as ā€œthe Armyā€™s premier leadership schoolā€ and is ā€œopen to all members of the military.ā€ A school literally anyone in the military can attend is a far cry from the RASP, which the Army says is ā€œdesigned to test a Soldierā€™s physical and mental strength under extreme conditions.ā€

Ranger School is now “a school literally anyone in the military can attend”?

Weird that it has a 42% graduation rate, then.

This is what happens when “journalists” rely on what they read on a website, rather than talking to someone who’s actually been there.

What it actually says is that there are no prerequisites for requesting attendance at Ranger School. At one time, it was only open to those in combat arms MOSs. Now, they’ll let anyone try. Most won’t even get there, and 6 in 10 who do will quit.

That only pertains to the feds, so it doesn’t affect my facility (we have state inmates).

It’s going to screw with the company’s stock price again, though. When the Obama administration announced in August of 2008 that they were doing the same thing, we took a 35% hit to our stock price overnight. Over $1 billion in valuation evaporated.

The sad part is that our federal contracts only account for something like 15% of our revenue, and most of our federal contracts weren’t even affected. The 2008 deal only affected Bureau of Prisons contracts. Most of our federal revenue comes from ICE and US Marshals Service.

I believe that information was floated while they were opposing it during the Obama or Bush administrations. Yeah, this uses more energy, reduces the cost/benefit of processing the sands, and a host of other things, but hey, Warren Buffett gets to make more money.

    @ eaglesoars:

Newsweek responded by editing its 2015 story to conform to Salonā€™s new smear of Cotton. The 2015 Newsweek story no longer says the two women ā€œwill become rangersā€ ā€” the edited version says they ā€œwill be allowed to wear the coveted Ranger tab on their uniforms.ā€

If “literally anyone” can attend Ranger School, why would a Ranger tab be “coveted”?

It costs $10 per barrel to send it by pipeline vs. $30 by train.

    That’s a huge hit.

The company will, yes. It really won’t affect the majority of our operations, though.

Should be interesting to see what they do when they no longer have the capacity they need, though.

Reminds me of when California passed a law requiring all their inmates to be housed within the state.

That was 10 years ago. I don’t think they’ve actually met their goal yet.

Rice later clarified that the order only applies to the Department of Justice (DOJ) and not other federal agencies like Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Just like last time. Which was actually August of 2016, not 2008. Not sure why I said that. I didn’t even work there in 2008

Rice argued that private prisons have been found to be worse for the health of both inmates and prison guards when compared to government-run prisons.

You know what’s really worse for their health?

The kind of overcrowding that existed before private prisons existed.

I think I saw something earlier today that now the Federal fleet of cars has to go all electric. So just a quick search

Biden administration will replace the entire federal vehicle fleet with EVs
This would involve replacing 645,000 vehicles with US-made electric vehicles, though no timeline has been given.

    https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/biden-administration-federal-fleet-electric-vehicles/

this is going to be the clusterfuck of all clusterfucks

I have visions of some Fed agents chasing a perp and running out of….battery.

    @ eaglesoars:

That’s another misleading headline. The majority of the federal vehicle fleet isn’t passenger cars. It’s trucks of one sort or another, which nobody’s planning to make in electric form anytime soon.

The mass elation caused by GamestopGate should seriously concern the elites. Basically everyone under 40 is now oriented toward enjoying any victory over the elites more than any circus the elites can put in front of them.

Lobbing the Trump grenade into DC was fun. Eventually they shut that down by taking away the ability to participate in elections.

Blowing up a bunch of Cohen’s bank accounts is fun. Eventually they will shut this down by taking away the ability to participate in markets.

Their problem is that it’s impossible to maintain a society that doesn’t require the participation of those below them. They can never eliminate every vector the other classes have to strike back against them and now there is sense, albeit small, of class solidarity against them

Eventually these sentiments flare up and they overreact in tamping them down over and over again. Eventually everyone is so disenfranchised and disengaged that no one sees inherent value in maintaining systems they have no relation to.

    And that’s when China strikes……….

Leftists despise working class ā€œdeplorablesā€ and seek to punish them for all their disapproved habits ā€“ you know – God, guns, motorized vehicles, and voting MAGA. Well, the tradesmen I know are swamped with business right now, so it might be a good time for them to establish their own ā€œterms of serviceā€ enabling them to deny services to advocates of cancel culture.
