They just cancelled a successful, recognized, and trusted black woman.

It’s like something out of Kafka. EVERYTHING is just…stupid. While I was running my errands this morning, I heard Trump’s lawyer opening the defense. Where did they find this guy? Taking out the garbage at Joe’s Bar & Grill? He meandered like the Nile, telling the prosecution they were really smart guys and that was a great movie they showed, does anybody remember Everett Dirkson, he used to listen to his speeches on records, you know records, those things with needles?

I was both dumbfounded and furious. Whoever recommended this addle-brained, walking vacuum is no friend of Trump.

Anyhoo, CW, the other day when I was asking you about the dollar, this is partly what I was thinking of.

and most hospitals in the US removed inhaled glucocorticoids. these are the ubiquitous aerosolized ‘breating treatments’ used almost relentlessly in the ER and on the floors.

    Here’s the response from AUSN:

    Sir,
I apologize for the packaging. In response to our COVID-19 survey which showed that the majority of our members were in need of PPE gear. We had hired a veteran owned company in Illinois to do the production and distribution of the masks. It was not until we received the tracking numbers once they were mailed to our membership that we realized they were not coming from the USA. They do in fact have the ability to insert a N95 filter which would increase the level of protection if desired further protection against the virus.
    Thank for your understanding.

That’s so 1970s. Been there, done that, making asbestos millboard on a monotony machine in a factory that was built in the 1920s.

Worked the machine with an old Appalachian guy I could barely understand, but “Arab” told me about the time he was captured by the Germans in France. They were holed up in a farm house when the commanding officer came in and said “Every man for himself.” Arab stood up, looked out the window and right down the barrel of a tiger tank.

He surrendered, but refused to say anything about what happened next. Instead he showed me the blue POW numbers tattooed on his forearm.

    True.

To a civilian anything that burns quickly or goes pop is an explosive.

I knew an Assault Pioneer Captain that was storing ‘spare’ C4 under his house for a great January exercise explosive extravangza. That was enough to send him down after a career pushing boundaries all over the place. The guy even smuggled his Maori girlfriend into Syria (she had been living on Cyprus) and he was supposed to be on a singles only posting. Her first name was Sharon but to the Syrian Police Sharon had certain Israeli connotations to it and they had a sense of humour failure. Being part Maori she had a built in suntan and she looked Israeli. She was lucky to get bounced out of Syria in one piece.

…Just as in Galileo’s time, another problem is the “vested academic interests.” Many universities have overtly intimidated views contrary to their own, seemingly for political motives, leaving many afraid to speak up. Perhaps university mottos like Harvard’s “truth,” Stanford’s “the winds of freedom blow,” and Yale’s “light and truth” need revision. Social media has piled on with a heavy hand to eliminate discussion of conflicting evidence. Without permitting, indeed encouraging, open debate and admission of errors, we might never solve any future crisis.

America is now a country where differing interpretations of science in order to seek the truth is the new anathema. I fear that “the science” has been seriously damaged, and many have simply become fatigued by the arguments. That is even worse, because fatigue will allow fallacy to triumph over truth. Perhaps Harvard Medical School Professor Martin Kulldorff was correct when he lamented, “After 300 years, the Age of Enlightenment has ended.”…

I thought the survey targeted the right sections of professorial concerns.

I would think people could just make their own academic journals these days online and include a vastly more functional review system based on login identities. People still stuck on a brick and mortar wall like a squashed fly.

    Excuse me?

Chicago Project on Security and Threats -Univ Chicago – look at this.

They SAY they used public records for the analysis and compared them to previous groups arrested. On page 14 we see these disturbing headlines

35% with military experience are in militial/groups

40% in militia/groups have military experience

But on the same page they give the actual numbers. For the first group

    3 Proud Boys
    3 Oath Keepers
    1 Three Percenters
    1 Other

    For the second group

    1 ex-Navy
    3 ex-Marines
    4 ex-Army

They are talking about EIGHT PEOPLE

But WaPo wrote an article based on this study that has statements like this

In the Capitol attack, business owners and white-collar workers made up 40 percent of the people accused of taking part, according to a study by the Chicago Project on Security and Threats at the University of Chicago. Only 9 percent appeared to be unemployed.
