Go Climb a Rock, Open

Methtoona aint all bad, I climbed on some cliffs and rocks yesterday. But first, a visit here. I procured a few high end cigars, the My Father’s ‘The Judge’ was had atop the mountain along with some of the local ale. Then after the climb some lunch and a few beers.

It was Monday, closed day for ‘respectable’ restaurants. So I went to a dive Irish bar and had a few pints and deep fried wonderfulness.

One needs a great beer after the climb!

    Great pics on gorgeous day!

Never really hung out there, but spent a lot of time in J Town.

The birthplace of your beer, Williamsport, is a major drug trafficking hub for everything moving through from the I 95 corridor inland. Stayed there quite a bit with oilfield service companies.

    Heads up

The U.S. Supreme Court on Wednesday will hear oral argument in Caniglia v. Strom, a case that could have sweeping consequences for policing, due process, and mental health, with the Biden Administration and attorneys general from nine states urging the High Court to uphold warrantless gun confiscation. But what would ultimately become a major Fourth Amendment case began with an elderly couple’s spat over a coffee mug.

HAR! That is so classic in the Holy Land. I have an oil ‘lamp’ that is probably 2500 yrs old from that area. Those things are a dime a dozen over there. It’s just clay type small enough to hold in the palm your hand. I didn’t pay TOO much for it, but if I’d been in Israel/Judea, I could have taken a trowel to somebody’s back yard and found the same thing.

Archaeologists over there are always fighting the raiders. Egypt is a mess. Jerusalem has to be a nightmare to excavate.

Her mother is MAYBE 60 percent black, probably less. Lady Colin Campbell who is a royal biographer did the research on Doria’s background. She is AT LEAST 40 percent white.

Which makes Meghan 25 percent black at most. She dated/married only white guys, her sorority was white.

    Cover up alert!

Former Capitol riot prosecutor Michael Sherwin is facing an internal investigation after his ’60 Minutes’ interview in which he discussed possible charges against Trump and rioters

Michael Sherwin, former US Attorney for DC, spoke to 60 Minutes on Sunday

Sherwin said Trump was being investigated for his role in the January 6 riot

He said that Trump could still face charges for his actions leading up to the riot

His remarks caused uproar inside the DoJ and mayhem among senior officials

Sources say Sherwin did not get DoJ approval for the 60 Minutes interview

On Tuesday the judge in DC overseeing the case called an emergency hearing

U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta said he was ‘surprised’ by Sherwin’s remarks
Mehta warned: ‘this case will not be tried in the media’

John Crabb, head of DoJ criminal division, said an internal inquiry has begun

Apparently they’ve got salvage crews from SMIT, a Dutch firm, heading in. They
are going to try to offload the cargo. There are over 8000 shipping containers on that thing, I have no idea where they would put them, but they are going to remove the ballast water and fuel first to see if that’s enough. The only good news is that it’s grounded in sand/mud, not rock.

I imagine some will try to re-route around southern Africa but I don’t know how much time that would add to the voyage. Obviously not as much as sitting and waiting at the canal.

Toilet paper isn’t the only item that’s going to be hosed. What a mess.

    @ AZfederalist:

Get this. I checked out a map (what a concept!). The 2-3 week estimate would have to be for ships waiting on the south/east side of the canal. But ships waiting on the north/west side have considerably farther to travel to make it to the southern tip of Africa so it’s going to be longer for them.

The cascade effects are staggering. How are they going to get the fuel to cover the extra mileage? I think for the south/east ships it’s about an extra 5000 nautical miles. Then they have to reschedule all the port calls. BUT part of the reason there is a container shortage is because they’re already having trouble unloading them at the ports, so they aren’t available for re-use.

The cost of the products being shipped is going to be passed on to – you guessed it – the consumer.

Egypt is already saying they bear no financial responsibility, this is going to be on the insurance companies. And THAT’s going to hit the equity markets.

    *face palm*

If Biden resigns, Harris becomes POTUS.

    But….

Harris’s VP would have to be approved by a majority of the House and Senate.

Until that time, Senate is 50-50 with no tie breaker.

Hence why Biden is still in office.

Amendment 25 was built just for occasions like this..

As with everything the Democrats say and do, the opposite prevails. When Democrats accuse someone of lying it always turns out that it’s the Democrats who are lying. When they try to depose a sitting President they attempt to use Constitutional Amendment 25, when their own man in the White House has lost his marbles and needs to be removed using Amendment 25.

    @ eaglesoars:

Yup. I can’t believe how few people understand that. I keep hearing that Harris becomes president, and Pelosi becomes VP.

Nope. There is no line of succession for VP. Until a new one is nominated and confirmed–by both Houses–there is none. If they never confirm one, the office would remain vacant until the next inauguration.

Everyone seems to forget that prior to the 25th Amendment, there was no way to replace the VP. When LBJ became president in 1963, he had no VP until the 1965 inauguration, when Humphrey was sworn in.

In the meantime, the President Pro Tempore presides over the Senate. Since he’s a member himself, there’s no tie-breaker.

Basements became the norm in houses constructed in the snow belt. The foundation has to extend below the frost line, and builders realized that extending them down a couple more feet and adding a slab adds usable square footage. They could sell the house for more.

Storm cellars, aka Fraidy Holes, are built elsewhere.
