So, went out today and saw no signs at my local Woodcraft demanding masking, nor did I see any at the Michaels hobby store (don’t ask) when I went in there as well. Lots of masked people walking around in Michaels, one of the clerks at Woodcraft was not wearing one. I think I may have missed a memo somewhere, but I’m taking this as a positive sign.

Tried watching a certain trial happening in Minneapolis. It is fucking boring.
Spent yesterday morning learning about what a dispatcher for the police/fire did and how a dispatcher was watching the arrest of George Floyd on CCTV street cameras. She was concerned that three police officers were holding the suspect on the ground for many minutes. ( over 8 minutes )
She ( the dispatcher ) reported this fact to a police sergeant supervisor.
Why did they have him on the ground restrained for so long?
They were waiting for EMT to arrive. Watch the body cam videos. At about 2 minutes after they let Mr Floyd lay on the ground because he was claustrophobic in the back seat of a police vehicle one officer asked if EMT was on the way.
If there is justice and justice prevails then unfortunately cities will burn this summer.

Matt Gaetz Is Said to Be Investigated Over Possible Sexual Relationship With a Girl, 17
An inquiry into the Florida congressman was opened in the final months of the Trump administration, people briefed on it said.
is being investigated by the Justice Department over whether he had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old and paid for her to travel with him, according to three people briefed on the matter.
Investigators are examining whether Mr. Gaetz violated federal sex trafficking laws,
.
.
the examination of Mr. Gaetz, 38, is part of a broader investigation into a political ally of his, a local official in Florida named Joel Greenberg, who was indicted last summer on an array of charges, including sex trafficking of a child and financially supporting people in exchange for sex, at least one of whom was an underage girl.

Hard to tell these days. It seems like every single congress person has a skeleton that is hidden by mutually assured destruction. Until someone doesn’t play. We could assume that this was how Epstein Island was built.
But maybe this is just the shotgun approach to prying into every part of Gaetz’s life in finding any shadow that can be blown into a moral fear.
I believe a month or so ago you said Gaetz was in trouble for going against Pelosi. One would have to have a pretty strong sense of public service to put up with this baloney.
@ darkwords:
I’m also hearing that there are rumors he won’t run again but join Newsmax instead. That might make sense, I think he just got engaged. If you want to start a family, doing it while in Congress is really tough, your time just isn’t your own.
I see a new narrative in the making. Don’t know if you saw a horrific video of an older Asian woman being beaten on the street by a black male (and black security guards inside the bldg where it was being filmed did nothing).

It’s not really “surgery” in the usual sense. They won’t be cutting anything. The scandal swirling around Rep. Matt Gaetz took a stunning turn Wednesday with the news that a former Air Force intelligence official and a Florida lawyer tried to get the congressman’s dad to cough up $25 million that would be used to free American Bob Levinson from Iranian custody—and somehow release Gaetz from a federal sex-crimes investigation.
And if that wasn’t enough, here’s one more strange fact: Levinson was declared dead last year.
https://www.thedailybeast.com/docs-outline-alleged-scheme-to-extort-rep-matt-gaetz
Matt Gaetz himself tweeted the link to this story so….
The Securities and Exchange Commission has embarked on a major policy initiative to develop new rules to require publicly reporting companies to disclose more information about climate change. Whatever the merits of the initiative, the agency has pursued it in the wrong way.
The recently designated acting chair of the SEC, Allison Herren Lee, appears to have acted alone to launch this rule making initiative. The chair did not secure a vote of the other commissioners, and the extent of consultation with them is not evident on the public record. This approach will add to concerns about unelected regulators who pursue their own personal policy goals without proper authorization from Congress.
Shortly after taking office in January 2021, the new acting chair began to divert the resources of the SEC to integrate climate, environmental, and social considerations, usually called ESG, into the agency’s broader regulatory framework. The acting chair directed the division responsible for corporate disclosures “to enhance its focus on climate-related disclosure in public company filings.” Other divisions also shifted attention to climate and ESG-related areas.
The most aggressive move, so far, was the unilateral commencement of a rule making process. On March 15, the acting chair issued a statement requesting comment from the public on how the SEC could best regulate climate change disclosures. She included a list of 15 areas with specific questions. The format corresponded to a notice of proposed rule making or a concept release, both of which require a commission vote, but the acting chair’s remarks did not refer to a vote or the views of the other commissioners.

bed. nite
@ lobo91:
I got up this morning. Placed the butter for toast on the top of the coffee pot to warm it up. It turned into butter sauce when I opened it tilted and it spilled every where. Went to clean it up and knocked a platter into the sink. Removed the platter and knocked the dish drainer into the coffee can. Can fell on the floor and spilled the coffee grounds everywhere.
I’ll need to hire this dog I think to make my toast.
@ darkwords:
that was your cue to go back to bed!
Anyway just saw this
Radioactive DIAMOND battery powered by nuclear waste ‘will run for 28,000 years’ and could go on sale by 2023
The nuclear battery is ‘safe for humans’ as it is enclosed in tamper proof material
It works by using microscopic diamonds to move heat from radioactive isotopes
The radioactive isotopes come from the waste products of nuclear power
The company stacks multiples of these microscopic cells to generate electricity

@ eaglesoars:
Now that is way cool. However, I’d be a little leery of the comment about tamper proof material. There is no such thing as “tamper-proof” given someone or some entity with sufficient interest, motivation, and resources. Remember when GPS was sold as being “un-jammable”? Yeah, even then they knew that was a lie but had to be told to keep the program sold.
@ AZfederalist:
The problem with making things foolproof is that fools are so ingenious.

I’ve started in on the whole book. Thanks for the prod; well worth the read.
9 days off begins now, with a nice long sleep.
night yinz!
@ AZfederalist:
I found this very interesting in Chapter 6:
Apply this to the liberal state of mind: They hate their neighbors who are conservative and label them as fascists, deserving destruction but want to extend open arms to illegal immigrants whom most of them have never met nor encountered or to foreign entities all in the name of benevolence,

That’s called Bunk’s Morning Routine.
Other things happen.
The missus goes walkies with a friend every morning and lets me sleep in. One time I got out of bed, went to the kitchen to make a pot of coffee, then took a shower and got dressed. I returned to the kitchen and saw that the pot was empty – the coffee had turned off the coffee maker and transported itself into the thermos, all by itself. “Cool,” I thought. “One less thing I have to do.”
Chemobrain does stuff like that. 😀
