OPEN THREAD DISCUSS WHAT YINZ WANT

result for week 2: 2/3 =$100, so we are at 1 8/11 $1500/$1000. %50 ROI? I should stop here!

BUT NO!

#16 Coastal Carolina at Buffalo 12:00 PM ESPN2…CC and the Mullet is a 14 point favorite and covers.

#8 Cincinnati at Indiana 12:00 PM ESPN…IU has been not too bead recently…but speed kills. Cinci is a 3.5 favorite and covers.

#15 Virginia Tech at West Virginia 12:00 PM FS1…The ‘Neers are 2.5 dogs at home. I don’t like this line. I’m gonna take the ‘Neers to cover tho.

#1 Alabama at #11 Florida 3:30 PM CBS…The Gators are 15 point dogs at home. ‘Bama is ‘Bama. Therefore, I think FL won’t cover.

#22 Auburn at #10 Penn State 7:30 PM ABC…WHITE OUT game at Happy Valley. PSU is a 5 point favorite at home and covers. This team has looked really good. The QB has the tools to play on Sunday.

***week: 3/5 +$100, so we are at 11/16 $1600/$1000.***

As the collapse of Evergrande reverberates throughout the Chinese economy, pissed off retail investors have gone from storming the company’s headquarters to taking management hostage, according to the Straits Times, citing posts ‘making the rounds’ on social media.

What we know so far: over 70,000 retail investors forked over vast sums of money, in some cases their entire life savings, after the country’s second largest, ‘too big to fail’ property developer wooed them with promises of 10%+ annual returns. And while the company most likely is TBTF (as you can read in gory detail here, although Beijing has yet to make an official proclamation), these anxious retail investors may be in more of an “Alive” situation than a Sully Sullenberger landing when it comes to resolving this mess.

Her comment? “The studies are done, 168,000 subjects and there are no long term effects.” For a vaccine that has been out less than one year. “Long term “, I don’t think those words mean what she thinks they mean.

She isn’t my doctor; I don’t have one. The last one I tried insisted on answering the questions he wanted to answer, not the ones I was asking and I haven’t had a chance to find a new one. I was entertaining the thought of being added to her practice, but the double mask she wears, the rainbow flags in the office in June and this latest discussion with her have pretty much told me that she’s not the doctor I am looking for. Mrs. Federalist already has a doctor she likes but he isn’t taking new patients.

Great show. Samantha Fish played most of the songs off the new album, along with some older ones. The new 4 piece band is surprisingly good.

So…Covid strikes again. It was starting to rain a little after Samantha Fish’s main stage show, and I was getting tired of festival food, so I decided to head into town and get dinner someplace where I could sit down. I ended up eating at a place across the street from the Sheridan Opera House, where I killed time until 9:00, which was about when the line for the late night show should have started forming.

When 9:00 came and went, and I hadn’t seen anyone start lining up, I walked across the street to see what was going on, only to learn that Larkin Poe’s set had been cancelled due to an unspecified “Covid scare.” I assume that means someone in their entourage got a positive test or something, because Megan and Rebecca certainly weren’t sick that afternoon.

Since none of the other artists playing the late night shows interested me, I decided to head back to the campground. After walking the 2 blocks to the gondola station, I saw a huge line. Apparently, a large part of the festival audience had the same idea. It took 30 minutes to get onto the gondola, during which time the rain began to pick up. The ride to the summit was kind of eerie, because the rain and fog made it impossible to see out of the car. Add to that the fact that there are no lights in or on the gondolas or the pylons, and it was pretty surreal.

At least there were no elk out on the highway, so that’s a plus.

Have to see how this afternoon goes. The Allman Betts Band is up at 3:00, followed by the North Mississippi Allstars. Then there’s supposed to be a “super jam” afterwards to close things out. Not sure who’s going to show up for it, though 🙁

It’s getting harder and harder to tell what’s satire…

White House: ‘We Must Continue Admitting Unvaccinated Immigrants To Replace All The Workers Who Got Fired For Being Unvaccinated’

Speaking on behalf of President Biden, Jen Psaki claimed today that we should keep letting unvaccinated immigrants into the country, since we need to fill all the roles of unvaccinated workers who got fired.

Psaki said it’s the position of the White House that the flood of unvaccinated immigrants is a good thing.

“We must continue admitting unvaccinated immigrants into the country,” Psaki said. “We must use them to replace all the workers who got fired for not being vaccinated.”

“Our workforce is suffering — all these businesses need more workers, and we just told them to fire everyone who hasn’t gotten the vaccine,” she went on. “Mexico is sending us thousands of workers every day to replace those crazy right-wing conspiracy theorists who won’t get the vaccine. And yes, these new workers aren’t vaccinated, either. But most of them aren’t wearing MAGA hats, so it’s an upgrade.”

One reporter then asked if Joe Biden is aware of the border crisis, the pandemic, or the fact that he’s president. Psaki OWNED the reporter like a QUEEN though, replying, “We’ll circle back to that.”

Some may be concerned that allowing waves and waves of immigrants to come in unchecked could be bad for the pandemic. According to Psaki, Dr. Fauci has informed her that immigrants can’t spread the virus because they’re on the “right side of history,” in a similar way to how the virus can’t spread at BLM rallies, Antifa riots, or Obama birthday parties.

To overcome covid-19, at least 80 percent of Americans need to be vaccinated. We are now at 54 percent. Voluntary efforts have proved to be insufficient. It is inevitable we will need another mandate — this time for domestic travel by planes, trains and buses.

Valneva is a standard dead virus vaccine of the traditional type. NO TYPE m-RNA cellular Spike Protein production bullshit. That’s why I’m getting it. Dems Call For Infrastructure Spending To Build More Bridges For Haitian Migrants To Live Under

As over 12,000 mostly Haitian migrants continue to crowd into makeshift camps under a bridge in Del Rio, Texas, many in Washington are coming to realize that the situation is untenable. With Congress back in session Monday, Nancy Pelosi said, “These poor people, many of them families with young children, are packed under this bridge in sweltering heat and squalid conditions. The solution is obvious: we need to build more bridges for them to live under.”

Fortunately for House Democrats, as well as for the suffering migrants, the $1 trillion infrastructure bill currently before Congress includes spending for bridges. “All we need to do,” Speaker Pelosi added, “is put in a little more money for a few additional bridges, and then the one in Del Rio won’t be so overcrowded. We plan to add bridges in Pennsylvania, Georgia, and Arizona where these voters, I mean hard working migrants, can go live.”

A Democratic staffer, speaking off the record, explained: “Of course you need to understand that when we say ‘bridges,’ we may not mean ‘bridges’ in the traditional sense. Just as the word ‘infrastructure’ now means things like child care and health care, the word ‘bridge’ will now mean things like low-income housing developments. So, yeah, we’re going to build some really nice bridges for these voters, I mean hard-working migrants.”

Keeping track of a child’s shots could be so much easier with technology invented by a new Rice University professor and his colleagues.

Kevin McHugh, an assistant professor of bioengineering at Rice since this summer, and a team at his previous institution, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, report in a cover story in Science Translational Medicine on their development of quantum-dot tags that fluoresce with information after they’re injected as part of a vaccination.

The tags are incorporated in only some of the array of sugar-based microneedles on a patch. When the needles dissolve in about two minutes, they deliver the vaccine and leave the pattern of tags just under the skin, where they become something like a bar-code tattoo.

Instead of ink, this highly specific medical record consists of copper-based quantum dots embedded in biocompatible, micron-scale capsules. Their near-infrared dye is invisible, but the pattern they set can be read and interpreted by a customized smartphone.

The two-year project is aimed at the 1.5 million preventable deaths that result from a lack of vaccinations, primarily in developing nations.

    Kevin McHugh
    Kevin McHugh

“The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation came to us and said, ‘Hey, we have a real problem — knowing who’s vaccinated,’” said McHugh, who was recruited to join Rice with funding from the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas. “They said, ‘We go on vaccination campaigns where people get into Hummers, drive to a rural village, set up a tent and start immunizing people, but they don’t always know who’s been immunized before and what vaccines are still needed.”

    Thanks. Who makes it?

    The French.

Initially the UK was set to produce 100 million shots with a follow on 90 million based out of a production facility in Scotland. Currently the UK has finalised their Stage #3 trials and the vaccine passed with flying colours. NZ decided to do its own trials and passed Stage #1 and Stage #2 just fine. Stage #3 trials are currently in progress. Everyone in that trial has had their first shot and the second follow up shots begin in a couple of weeks.

There is a second trial that uses the Alpha strain combined this time with the Delta strain. That’s the trial that I have joined. Then Boris Johnson in a fit of pique with his mate Macron cancelled the production. The only other parallel manufacturer is located in France who are currently manufacturing 90 million doses. The whole punch-up between France and the UK was abut the Astrazenica supply argument of 2020. Macron told Boris needs to supply some of his production to Europe and Boris told him to mind his own business. Macron responded in like and Boris told Macron that the Scottish producer can bugger off.

    A childish spat!

Still this postpones the second trial in NZ by 8 weeks.

    SPIT

    🙂

We get phone alerts PLUS helicopter loudspeakers to be on the lookout for an old man with dementia. There’s a facility nearby and sometimes the inmates wander off to buy cake and beer.

    The PF9?

I’ve not personally shot one, but I’ve heard about reliability issues, particularly problems with the magazine release.

It’s about the same form factor as the Ruger LC9, the Glock 43, the Springfield Hellcat or the SIG P365. Honestly, I think the main thing in its favor out of any of those would be price. It’s probably $150-$200 less than any of the others.

If you’re looking for a concealed carry gun (which I assume you are, in that size), I think I’d save up a bit and spring for one of the others (or look into the used market, because a lot of people buy guns in that size and find out that they don’t like them, and end up trading them in).

As always, your mileage may vary 🙂

    Eep.

Bob Lee Allen, 54, and his husband Thomas Evans Gates III were charged in 2020 for castrating the victim, a 28-year-old volunteer, who had got in touch with Allen on the castration forum Eunuch Maker.

Wuhan scientists wanted to release coronaviruses into bats

“Chinese scientists wanted to genetically engineer coronaviruses that were more infectious to humans and then conduct experiments on live bats about 18 months before the first COVID-19 cases emerged — but a US Department of Defence agency rejected the funding proposal, leaked documents reveal.

Scientists at the Wuhan Institute of Virology were planning to genetically enhance airborne coronaviruses and release aerosols containing “novel chimeric spike proteins” among cave bats in Yunnan, China, according to the 2018 proposal submitted to the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). ”

There are laws on the books that make cutting off a guy’s balls in a barn illegal. This is not an isolated case. I think the the practice should be legalized, kind of a “My Cojones, My Choice” thang.

I guess there is a larger movement. The castrati in the Church. And there was that religious cult where the male members were castrated? Probably not the cult leader though?

I tend to measure these things as tending to order or disorder in a persons life. Can they function in a job? Have friends? Participate in family. Some of them can not but try.
