@/4 last week. Broke even. 25/31, $1800/$1000. 80% ROI…it was 90% with a low of 40%. If this were real money, i’d quit here too.

Let’s see what’s on tap for Saturday:

#25 Pittsburgh at Duke 12:00 PM ACCN: My beloved Panthers lost to the criminal element last week in one of the WORST officiated games that I have ever seen. This week they are at Duke and are 21 point favorites. They won’t cover.

#13 Auburn at #14 Texas A&M 3:30 PM CBS. This is going to a fantastic football game. Auburn is a 5 point dog and should cover in this one.

#3 Michigan State at Purdue 3:30 PM ABC. Obviously, I am missing some vital info here or something. Sparty is only a 2.5 point favorite. Uh, no. They cover.

Tennessee at #18 Kentucky 7:00 PM ESPN2: Well, Rain, yinz’s vols went from 1.5 point dogs to 1 point favorites. This is a yuge game for both sides. My pick: The Vols cover on the road! All is not lost in Vol Land!

#4 Oregon at Washington 7:30 PM ABC: Something seems very odd about this. The Ducks are only 7 point favorites…I don’t know what to do here. This looks too easy…unsure if I am betting this one. Will update. How about the Ducks cover.

I’m on my way out for a week-long camping trip down to warmer weather in southern Arizona. I’ll be out of contact for the first couple of days, but after that, I should have at least some internet access.

In the email I got from Project Veritas

    ——————————

They don’t want me to defend myself and immediately tried to silence me. That’s why the cover letter for the Grand Jury Subpoena we received contains this language:

“The Government hereby requests that you voluntarily refrain from disclosing the existence of the subpoena to any third party. While you are under no obligation to comply with our request, we are requesting you not to make any disclosure in order to preserve the confidentiality of the investigation and because disclosure of the existence of this investigation might interfere with and impede the investigation.”

But while the Department of Justice requested us to not disclose the existence of the subpoena, something very unusual happened. Within an hour of one of our reporters’ homes being secretly raided by the FBI, The New York Times, who we are currently suing for defamation, contacted the Project Veritas reporter for comment. We do not know how The New York Times was aware of the execution of a search warrant at our reporter’s home, or the subject matter of the search warrant, as a Grand Jury investigation is secret.

So, I have a question for the group. Has anyone else seen an employer base medical insurance costs on the salary of the employee? The company for which Mrs. Federalist works is rolling out its new benefits for next year. The health insurance charges to the employees are based upon employee base pay. Those who make less pay less, and those who make more pay more. A lot more. For the exact same benefits. Bottom tier is those making less than $75K, they pay a certain amount for coverage. For an employee in the next salary band, they pay almost 2x for employee plus family compared to the lower salaried employees for the lower tiered plan, for the top salary band, employees will pay 2.8 times what the lower salaried employees will pay. For. The. Exact. Same. Coverage. If one chooses the Cadillac plan, then the multipliers are 1.4 times and 1.7 times what the lowest salary level pays.

I’m sure the company leadership is just preening themselves over how woke and “progressive” this graduated cost system is and how they are helping “the little guy”. Why, they are doing the same thing as the tax code. Except that they are not. The tax code is graduated, but one can’t lose money going from one tax bracket to the next; the percent increase is only on the amount you make over the previous tax bracket.. In this benefits scenario, someone making $75K could lose big-time if they get a raise to $75,001. That $1 salary increase will cost them about $1100 per year more in health insurance costs.

Has anyone heard of any other companies doing stuff like this?

    @ AZfederalist:

it will end up being a purely graduated system. this looks like negotiations 101

introduce hard steps where there are penalties for 1$ above…

conceded to a purely sliding scale when everyone loses their minds about the hard step increase.

the proles then gladly accept the sliding scale.

    jeeze, this is easy.

    @ Deplorable Martian Overlord:

i will miss the espadas tho:

Montecristo and Plasencia, a match made in heaven.

The story of Montecristo Espada is seriously interesting. Not long ago, Montecristo and famed tobacco grower and cigar maker Nestor Plasencia struck a deal. This deal would gave Montecristo’s blending team, known as the ‘Grupo de Maestros,’ unrestricted access to Plasencia’s world-renowned library of tobaccos and state of the art factory. There, the Grupo de Maestro’s went to work, spending months creating the perfect blend. A blend that’s unlike any other Montecristo ever before. A Nicaraguan puro that’s overflowing with flavor. A cigar that’s as near perfect as they come. A cigar that’s easily fitting of the Montecristo name, but with a level of flavor that’s surprising and welcomed. In short, Montecristo Espada is exceptional.

Meaning ‘sword,’ Espada makes full use of Plasencia’s unique tobacco archive and employs a gorgeous Habano wrapper from 2010 grown in Jalapa, Nicaragua. Underneath, an all-Nicaraguan blend of bold, well-aged long-fillers from Jalapa, Ometepe, and Condega were each specifically selected for their strength, flavor, or body. The result is an extremely well-balanced, layered with rich, hearty notes of wood, pepper, coffee, cream, nuts, and sweetness. Elegant, refined, and loaded with complexity, Montecristo Espada is truly a world-class cigar.

One third of Montgomery County, Maryland, is made up of single family home neighborhoods where families have porches and yards for gathering. But if the Thrive Montgomery 2050 plan is put into place by the Montgomery County City Council by the end of the year, residents could see those neighborhoods transformed with the introduction of multi-unit housing.

conceded to a purely sliding scale when everyone loses their minds about the hard step increase.

the proles then gladly accept the sliding scale.

    jeeze, this is easy.

Except that this is an RBC (Really Big Corporation) and there are no negotiations, this is the policy and the benefit. This is for salaried and professional hourly employees, not bargaining unit, so the benefit is what they say it is. Period. They got away with the graduated cost base on salary for now because everybody’s rates are going down compared to 2021 since they are changing providers and prices came down. The new provider must have come in with a good price or the actuals from 2020 and 2021 are showing lower health care costs as workers are spending time working from home or not seeking health care due to the plandemic. It will be interesting to see what happens in the future. This would definitely be a discriminator for choosing to find a new employer that was more rational.

I really don’t think they really thought this through or figured that only a few people would be affected when they were pushed through the salary gaps and were willing to deal with the fallout to support the cause of “equity”. This is the same company for which I declined to apply for flag rank because it would cost me money, significant money, to get promoted. Below flag rank, the company has a policy of paying overtime (straight time) and, because I was working 12 hour days, I was able to bank a significant amount over my base pay. At flag rank, (Technical Fellow level), one no longer is paid for overtime, winds up working a lot of it because the rules change regarding who directs you and what you are told to do, but that is supposedly made up in a bonus package. Problem is, the bonus package they provided to newly minted flag rank folks was generally 15%. That didn’t come close to making up for what I would have lost in overtime pay. For the younger folks who get there, it works because they said that in 3 years one would break even and then start pulling ahead as salary and bonuses increase. In my case, being close to retirement, I would have just broken even before I planned to retire.

You want a multi-function printer. They are available in multiple brands from any office supply place, Best Buy, Costco, and probably Walmart. I have an HP OfficeJet Pro, there are others as well. You can get them as ink-jet (cheap but ink costs are high if you do a lot of printing) or laser printers (expensive up front, but cheaper to run). Absolutely

    Loade of options.
Canon is always in the top tier brands.

A good printer will cost you practically zip. The cost comes in the color print heads. Try to get a type that you can buy individual colour heads as well as a Black print head, rahther getting all in one, where you run out of black or a color while there is still ink in the other containers.

You can buy reusable heads as well on a swap in swap out basis. I think this voids your printer guarantee but the initial problems have been sorted now and the swaps work just fine and will last for at least 3 or 4 swaps each before you have to buy a new head. That will normally take you way past the nominal guarantee period and then some. Because the printers and therefore the guarantees are so cheap this is the way to go for cheap as chips printing without sacrificing quality.

    🙂

Yes, it’s almost impossible to find a device like that without WiFi. We tried to do that at work because wireless was verboten in our spaces. My OfficeJet and Mrs Federalist’s Canon are both on our home network. I had aCanon as well, but it broke— I don’t recommend them. Problem was well known, prevalent, and cheaper to replace than fix.

So unlike m-RNA tech that hijacks your cells to produce spike protein, which makes me more that a little concerned, especially when it comes to ‘shedding’ spike into the organs, it’s STILL based on Spike Protein that DOESN’T stay in muscle tissue but escapes into the body.

Only done three shifts there and already something is really pissing me off and I want to change it but obviously I cannot.

The fridge door in the break room opens the wrong way. It should open with the door against the wall for easier access.

It annoys me, but as long as I take all my anger control medication I can live with it. I just REFUSE to put my lunch in there….

We’ll mom’s in recovery. They ended up taking about 5” out of her small intestine. Oxygen and chest tubes are out. She’s going to be in ICU a few more days, then to a regular room for a bit, then rehab. Not sure if she’s going to be able to go back to independent living.

She’s asked at least three people including me why everyone is doing this for her. And I’ve heard her say at least twice that she is tired and ready to go.

She’s had incredible care, her main ICU nurse is so good and all the staff likes her so much.

We are trying to work something out on her head because it’s just not fair to take that poor little girl from being on cat to her part of a zoo like we have. We have our current cats, there’s a stray cat we’re going to be bringing in soon, and there are three kittens that we’re going to be fostering as soon as somebody can catch them.

Like they said, multifunction printer. I would avoid canon. They have recently been sued due to a software “feature” that disables all functions when it runs out of ink.

Also if you can get an “eco-tank” type it is a pretty good deal, then you can just refill the ink tank instead of buying ink cartridges.

I really have never understood this garbage. To me, there is nothing better than being surrounded in bed by every creature you love. I don’t ‘get’ this ‘equal/alpha’ stuff. There is nothing like being woken up in the morning with gentle puppy kisses – “Mum, you ‘wake? We need outside” Or having one of them flop on my head in the night for cuddles. I didn’t ‘allow’ any of them to sleep in the bed. I brought them home and PUT them there and sometimes that’s where they want to be and sometimes they prefer their beds around the house. They can do what they want in that respect.

In others – not so much. I absolutely control the kitchen and the doors and they know it.

As long as it’s safe, the dogs have a say. They know I keep them safe. My ‘AH!’ is their cue that something is out of bounds. They trust that without fail. They’re family. Do they think they’re ‘equal’? I don’t know and I don’t care. We belong to each other. All of us.

Judge Howell, overseeing the J6 prosecutions, is a political hack

“The goal of a lot of protests in 2020 was to hold police accountable and politicians accountable for police brutality — and murder, in George Floyd’s case — and to improve our political system. What happened on Jan 6 is in a totally different category from that protest. It was to stop the government from functioning at all to stop the democratic process and it worked,” Howell said. “They’re not comparable.”

It did not work, the election was certified. And that’s just ONE false statement she made.

Wow. Just wow. That should require that she recuse herself from those cases. So, she was OK with “protests” that resulted in death and destruction saying they were legitimately based on the supposed wrongful death of someone while totally ignoring the fact that the January 6 protests that, at most, resulted in trespassing, were based upon the very real concern that the election had been stolen and the results were fraudulent. The January 6 protests were much closer to justified protesting than the George Floyd riots.

The Moderna two-dose vaccine went from being 89% effective in March to 58% effective in September, according to a story about the study in the Los Angeles Times.

Meanwhile, the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine went from being 87% effective to 45% effective over the same time period.

The Johnson & Johnson vaccine showed the biggest drop — from 86% effectiveness to 13% over those 6 months.

“In summary, although vaccination remains protective against SARS-CoV-2 infection, protection waned as the Delta variant emerged in the U.S., and this decline did not differ by age,” the study said.

The three vaccines also lost effectiveness in the ability to protect against death in veterans 65 and over after only 3 months.

I didn’t either, at first. I enjoyed him for the entertainment value. He set the media into psycho-frothing that was hilarious. He said all the right things and I believed him, but I did not think he had a chance. I was, in order as the field narrowed, Walker, Cruz, Trump.

Then. One of the Republican primary debates – very early, still a lot of candidates – somebody forgot to introduce Ben Carson. They called Cruz, then Trump and Carson was standing backstage all by himself. Cruz ran out, Trump did not. He ushered Carson onstage. He could not have known that the cameras caught it.

THEN I started to pay attention.

Also, Cruz lost me when he tried to blame Chicago on Trump. Rioters were recruited on Craigslist, everybody could see it – including the Secret Service, trust me – so Cruz knew also. Cruz COULD have told the truth, but as it was Trump had to call off his rally for public safety. That is when I went for Trump. And he never let me down. There are a lot of things I wish he’d done differently, but he always TRIED to do the right thing. The foundation is right.

This is unbelievable. Georgia Tech researchers were hired to ‘find’ collusion between Trump and Alpha bank by going thru tons of (gov’t) data that was available to them thru another gov’t contract (DARPA). Paid by Sussman. They couldn’t find anything but they made it look like they did because they hated Trump. Sussman took their ‘research’ to the FBI and billed the Clinton campaign.

    GovGav update via AM790 KABC
He’s still MIA since 27 October, the Day of the Booster Shot. No photo ops, no interviews, nothing.

At 8:46pm last night his wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom, tweeted about the missing Newsom and the online discussions:
“It’s funny how certain folks can’t handle truth. When someone cancels something, maybe they’re just in the office working; maybe in their free time they’re at home with their family, at their kids’ sports matches, or dining out with their wife. Please stop hating and get a life.”

No clarification on what he is really doing or where he is. The tweet was deleted within minutes.

They didn’t pull any punches either

The Jewish authority called out “gross misrepresentation” of data pertaining to those who die after being vaccinated. “It should be known that much of the data the government agencies report is deceitful. For example, a Covid death that occurs in a person after receiving the injection, if it happened within fourteen days of receiving the injection, is listed as an “unvaccinated” death.”

A metallurgist in Washington state pleaded guilty to fraud Monday after she spent decades faking the results of strength tests on steel that was being used to make U.S. Navy submarines. Elaine Marie Thomas, 67, of Auburn, Washington, was the director of metallurgy at a foundry in Tacoma that supplied steel castings used by Navy contractors Electric Boat and Newport News Shipbuilding to make submarine hulls. From 1985 through 2017, Thomas falsified the results of strength and toughness tests for at least 240 productions of steel — about half the steel the foundry produced for the Navy, according to her plea agreement, filed Monday in U.S. District Court in Tacoma. The tests were intended to show that the steel would not fail in a collision or in certain “wartime scenarios,” the Justice Department said.
    .
    .
When confronted with the doctored results, Thomas told investigators, “Yeah, that looks bad,” the Justice Department said. She suggested that in some cases she changed the tests to passing grades because she thought it was “stupid” that the Navy required the tests to be conducted at negative-100 degrees Fahrenheit (negative-73.3 degrees Celsius).

There’s a lot of talk about the DOJ raid on Project Veritas. Two points:

The org that actually printed pages of the Ashley Biden’s diary has not been touched.

Nobody is talking about what the diary said.

Ashley Biden was sexually abused by her father, Joe Biden. And her mother is, in her words, “emotionally unavailable”.

(Which goes a long way to explaining Hunter)

All of which makes me wonder about Biden’s first wife. She and their daughter were killed because she ran a red light/stop sign. And Joe has lied about that for decades.

Put the two together and I wonder if his first wife figured out what he is and decided to off herself and the kids.

“San Francisco’s City Hall is designed to inspire awe—a symbol of the city’s power and resilience after the devastating 1906 earthquake and fire, with its white marble detailing and soaring dome that looms more than 300 feet overhead,” Hamish notes. “But despite the architectural magnificence—and the panoply of state, with Nancy Pelosi officiating and Governor Newsom and Mayor Breed in attendance—the ceremony managed to feel extraordinarily intimate and personal, with Tobias’s charming vows and his passionate kiss that dislodged Ivy’s crown!”

‘I’m afraid we’re going to have a food crisis’: The energy crunch has made fertilizer too expensive to produce, says Yara CEO

The world is facing the prospect of a dramatic shortfall in food production as rising energy prices cascade through global agriculture, the CEO of Norwegian fertilizer giant Yara International says.

“I want to say this loud and clear right now, that we risk a very low crop in the next harvest,” said Svein Tore Holsether, the CEO and president of the Oslo-based company. “I’m afraid we’re going to have a food crisis.”

Speaking to Fortune on the sidelines of the COP26 climate conference in Glasgow, Holsether said that the sharp rise in energy prices this summer and autumn had already resulted in fertilizer prices roughly tripling.

In Europe, the natural-gas benchmark hit an all-time high in September, with the price more than tripling from June to October alone. Yara is a major producer of ammonia, a key ingredient in synthetic fertilizer, which increases crop yields. The process of creating ammonia currently relies on hydropower or natural gas.

“To produce a ton of ammonia last summer was $110,” said Holsether. “And now it’s $1,000. So it’s just incredible.”

Earlier in the year the direction it came from was at about 11 o’clock, tonight it was about 2 o’clock. It’s not blown by the wind, there isn’t any and besides, it’s WAY too fast. It’s small, about the size of a mouse. Also, tonight it’s midnight, before it was always around 9 pm I think. I didn’t have my phone with me or I would have turned on the flashlight app.

Beck had video today of Pete Buttplug saying that the infrastructure bill was going to be used to rebuild in a way to “right racial wrongs” in the original street building plans in major cities. So, any lunatic that didn’t think this money was going to be flushed down the crapper needs to reassess.

Apparently, it’s going to be used to destroy any freeway dividing a “white” neighborhood from black, any underpass leading to a minority neighborhood, etc.

This is going to be the most expensive, destructive boondoggle in democratic history. Major cities are going to become more of an unnavigable mess than they already are. Thank god I don’t live near one or have a reason to go near one.

Virginia School Board REVERSES Superintendent’s Vaxx Mandate After Teachers Resign

A school board in Richmond, Virginia has decided not to discipline staff members who refused to get the mandatory jab. This, after at least 29 teachers resigned this week over the policy.

In a 6-3 decision Monday, Richmond School Board prevented Superintendent Jason Kamras from withholding paychecks or terminating staffers that refused the shots, if those individuals agree to weekly COVID testing provided by RPS. On November 1st, the Superintendent’s office began docking pay for people not in compliance.

Prior to Monday’s vote, Kamras stood by his decision to mandate COVID shots.

“A mandate isn’t a mandate if there are no consequences,” Kamras said in an article on Richmond.com.

In August, Kamras said he was not considering weekly testing because it would not raise the vaccination rate. Still, 2nd District School Board Member Mariah White said this week that docking someone’s pay is not going to incentivize them to get a COVID shot.

Washington, DC, Nov. 10, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Paul Marik, MD, one of the most highly published critical care physicians in the world and the Director of the ICU at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, was recently told by Sentara Healthcare that he could no longer administer a range of highly effective COVID-19 treatments to critically ill patients—the same treatments he has successfully used to reduce COVID deaths in the ICU by as much as 50%. The result of the prohibition has been a sharp increase in patient mortality. Because Dr. Marik can no longer stand by while patients needlessly die without proper treatment, he has filed a lawsuit to allow him and his colleagues to administer the combination of FDA-approved drugs and other therapies that has saved thousands of critically ill COVID-19 patients in the last 18 months.

The Complaint filed today in the Circuit Court for the City of Norfolk, Virginia states that Sentara Healthcare is “preventing terminally ill COVID patients from exercising their right to choose and to receive safe, potentially life-saving treatment determined to be appropriate for them by their attending physician.” Under Virginia law, every patient has the right to receive treatment deemed appropriate for them by their attending physician, and terminally ill patients have the right to try investigational medicines that their treating physician recommends. Through its arbitrary prohibition of the COVID-19 treatment protocol developed by Dr. Marik and his colleagues, Sentara is violating the law and unjustly depriving critically ill patients of lifesaving treatment.

    uh oh

The U.S. and Chine both, in surprise announcements on Wednesday, agreed to step up their climate change ambitions. Officials from both countries’ climate envoy, in separate statements during a UN COP25 climate summit in Glasgow, confirmed this agreement, just days before the end of the conference.

China climate envoy Xie Zhenhua said in a news conference, “There is more agreement between the U.S. and China than divergence, making it an area of huge potential for cooperation. The release of this joint statement shows again that cooperation is the only choice for both China and the United States. By working together our two countries can achieve many important things that are beneficial not only to our two countries but the world as a whole.”

U.S. climate envoy John Kerry said that the agreement “makes a statement about the imperative” for the world’s top two emitters to cooperate.

Kerry added, “It commits to a series of important actions, not in the long term, not in the future, but now. Specifically, it includes a commitment to joint action on reducing methane emissions.”

    “methane” = animals.

    @ eaglesoars:

It is late, too late to Google but…

Humans cannot digest cellulose. Cows can because they have four stomachs and have specialised bacteria that help with digestion.

If you fed humans what cows eat then the human would starve to death.

Point two. Renewable fuels. Ethanol and Bio-Diesel

Ethanol is mainly made from the starch and sugars in corn. They are fermented using yeast to produce ethanol. However not all the corn is converted to ethanol. There is a waste product. Cellulose. That is fed to livestock that are perfected due to evolution in converting cellulose to proteins and fat.

Bio-Diesel is made from oils extracted from seeds such as soybeans, palm, rape etc. The residue left when the seeds have the oil extracted is mostly cellulose. That is fed to livestock that are perfected due to evolution in converting cellulose to proteins and fat.

Ethanol and Bio-Diesel were once heralded as ” renewable energy ” but not so much now. Maybe it is because the waste products then need to be converted by livestock to milk, eggs and meat.

Otherwise what is to be done with that cellulose?

Yep, I know. Cellulose can be digested using bacteria in an industrial process to produce methane. But so far I have not really seen anyone really doing that.

    @ Possum Pureblood:
    Also…

In the above scenario corn and beans are grown on land. At harvest time the corn and beans are harvested, and the ethanol and Bio-Diesel is produced and the fibrous waste is converted to methane. A perfect utilisation of a crop. Renewable energy!!!!!

Plant seeds, grow a crop, convert it to ethanol, Bio-Diesel and methane.

One tiny problem. In order to grow a plant the plant needs nutrients. Where do those nutrients come from? ( Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium plus many trace elements ) What you take from the land has to be put back.

That is where shit comes into the equation. As you can see in the above example I am using a crop to make fuel. And fuel only. But that requires shit to be sustainable.

So even making ethanol and Bio-Diesel as a ” renewable energy source ” still NEEDS animals in the cycle.

Can we survive without party balloons?

Probably. In a time where fossil fuels ( in this example natural gas ) are no longer mined or drilled for and the world exists on bio fuels and solar and wind power then many other things we take for granted will no longer be available.

Helium is acquired as a by-product of natural gas extraction. No more natural gas, no more Helium. No more party balloons.

OK that was a stupid example but there are far more products made from oil and coal that we rely on and could not be made at this time without oil or coal.

I think the U.S. has the largest store of helium on the planet. We started hoarding it for military balloons in WWI.

You Americans know it as Canola.

Rapeseed (Brassica napus subsp. napus), also known as rape, or oilseed rape, is a bright-yellow flowering member of the family Brassicaceae (mustard or cabbage family), cultivated mainly for its oil-rich seed, which naturally contains appreciable amounts of erucic acid. Canola are a group of rapeseed cultivars which were bred to have very low levels of erucic acid and are especially prized for use for human and animal food. Rapeseed is the third-largest source of vegetable oil and the second-largest source of protein meal in the world.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rapeseed

Same kind of thing where Americans call an Aubergine an Eggplant, or a courgette a zucchini, or crisps chips, or a waistcoat a vest, or a bonnet a hood, or a boot a trunk, or a windscreen a windshield.

    I could go on….

What to Do When Your or Your Child’s Poop Is Stuck Halfway Out

Squirming to pass a stool is anything but pleasant. You feel the urge to go, yet nothing comes. Or the poop makes its way to the opening of your anus, but gets stuck halfway out.

This happens to a lot of people. It’s even common in babies as they switch from a liquid diet to solid foods.

Impacted stool can cause poop to get stuck. But having your poop stuck halfway out doesn’t always point to impaction. Every day constipation is another possible culprit.

What causes your poop to become stuck partly out of your anal canal?
Poop stuck halfway out your anal canal is an awkward feeling, but it isn’t necessarily an emergency. Some causes might require medical treatment, while others will resolve with home remedies.

Common causes of your poop stuck halfway out include:

and you are going to have to read the full article to discover why your poop is sticking out.

Goodnight. I have to go to work tomorrow.

Well, they got it partly right, but they got it totally wrong saying that Karens are privileged middle class white women, who among other things, “refuse to wear masks”. Nope. Karens are the PMCWW who scold, chastise, and belittle those who don’t wear masks. Karens have no love of freedom or understanding of science and physics.
