Favorite Christmas movie. A Christmas Story.

    https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0085334/

When young I likes Babes in Toyland. The kids liked the Jim Carrey “The Grinch who stole Christmas”

Last GF opted for the Nutcracker live and in person. That was a sleeper for me thus issues down the road.

g’ma and papap spent wayyyyyyy tooooooo much on the kids, but…it’s good that they have the means to do so. the girls have no idea what is going hit them in the AM.

What does Christmas have to do with this? IT’s a time when people can congregate and sing carols and see the big picture as it relates to their personal being.

Many families in this situation around the holidays.

Merry Christmas from the ONE, the ONLY – Titania McGrath

    ——————–

    Reasons to abolish Christmas:

    • The exchange of “gifts” normalises capitalism.

    • “Comfort and joy” are signifiers of privilege.

    • Turkeys are murdered en masse.

    • Snowmen are symbols of white patriarchy.

    • Jesus wasn’t vaccinated.

Ok, everybody has to read this book

    Corn Siege

It’s about what happens when people get fed up to their back teeth and go John Galt. First the power goes down. In the cities, not the rural areas. Contemporary Fiction. So far. It’s short, just over 200 pgs

It’s written by one Anthony Horvath. Someone with that name has evidently written quite a few books but I don’t know if it’s the same person and I can’t find anything specific.

I’ve had Christmas in England and Germany. Quite different from the US. In London, I could buy roasted chestnuts and get this pudding with a coin in it. Sometimes the Snow was Montana levels. A lot of fun. Lemon beer and cornish pastry from a vending machine in Kings Cross station after a day of visiting boutique bookstores.

Germany has a whole town dedicated to Christmas. The tree have white lights only. No signs of a Santa Claus. Late night markets selling hot wine and sausages. Cold and very cold. A lot of nutcracker themes.

I’m still having the Moderna heart and lung problems 4 months later. Impossible to wear a mask at the gym. Feels like suffocation. I’ll just get random racing heart about 20 times a day. Congested breathing like there is a weight on me. I meditate to get through it. I don’t exist as an adverse effect in any database. the vaccinators didn’t want to record anything. Is that like HIV for cats? Has it always existed? I’ve been part of a 12 cat and 16 cat families. Usually only one or two were indoor cats. A couple of them seemed like small mountain lions.

We never went to a vet for the animals. They lived and died as a community. We had distemper twice which was bad. We were emotionally attached to each cat. Each cat was a comedian in training.

I remember only having one cat that lived a full life. She was the matriarch of the broods.

Thinking of cats made me laugh about one of the kids. When she was five I was trying to get her to sleep too early. She sprang out of bed and I picked her up to put her back to bed but she made a star with arms and legs and locked herself in the doorway.

I couldn’t budge her without using a lot of strength so I had to talk her down.
I was impressed she intuitively knew how to use leverage. But I don’t remember laughing about it until later.

FIV is like HIV. I am doing this from memory because anyone can Google shit and look intelijent.

There are five types of FIV but vaccines only available for two types.

It is USUALLY transmitted by deep bites, not sharing food, water or litter boxes or contact.

So if you have a FIV positive cat it will be much more susceptible to any diseases or infections. But strictly speaking FIV does not kill a cat.

( Kind of like HIV itself does not kill humans. The destruction of the immune system does. )

At this point, the public education system needs to be abolished. It’s beyond salvage. Too many current teachers have been indoctrinated in woke nonsense, and there’s no way to keep them from just going back to what they were doing. No laws will change that.

One of the worst things in the Dems’ Build Back Broke bill is their plan for “universal pre-k.” That’s nothing more than an expansion of the indoctrination programs to even younger ages.

Many years ago lots of companies outsourced manufacturing overseas. China and Taiwan specifically.

The reason often stated was cheaper labour.

My question is, semi-conductor manufacture. Why? That is one of the LEAST labour intensive things I can think of.

I have a feeling it was cheaper to manufacture semi conductors overseas because of two reasons.

1, The manufacture uses rare earth elements that are expensive to import into the USA. Tariffs and all that shit and lack of mining here.

2, Safe toxic waste processing. The electronics industry produces nasty waste. Costly to make safe and dispose of in the USA.

If you have 1st generation landlord from the 3rd world always pay your rent a day early and never ask for a repair. Do it yourself.

Clove leaves behind the stove and behind the base molding slows down roaches.
Borax dusted everywhere then mopped and vacuumed up does away with bedbugs and fleas. Not sure if its good for cats.

Cotton balls soaked in sugar and boraxo will kill all ants.

Can’t do much about the neighbors in an apartment building best to get a corner unit up high or down low.

Burning coffee in a coffee can on a stove will remove the smell of a dead body after a few hours.

Gnats bite the dust if you take a McDonalds cup and pour an oz of Vingegar or Orange Juice in it. Cover with saran wrap. Rubber band the saran wrap and cut a 1/2 inch slit in the saran wrap. The gnats will climb in and can’t get out.

Tea Tree oil and Peppermint oil are suppose to deter spiders. Though I think it just makes them irritated.

Cats are sensitive to all that probably.

An old landlord showed that stuff to me so that I wouldn’t over chemicalize pest management in an apartment building. Seemed to work.

The 3rd world landlord wants you as a tenant but just doesn’t want to put a dime back into the property. They overleveraged the purchase and its their foothold into America. The vacate notices don’t mean anything if you comply and stay in their good graces.

Least favorable tenants that get their attention.
    Drugs.
    Violence.
    Late rent repayments.
    Nuisance.

I used to go over tenants in my mind at night and assign each one a “yes” or a “no” If No, then do I keep them or push them out. To be a no, you had to be not paying any rent or were bothering other tenants.

I’d bring them English cookies once a year and serve Guinness to any repair people I dealt with.

2, Violence. Never won a fight in my whole life. Bit late to try the violence thing now. See 4

3, Late payments. Well I had an issue a few years ago. Paid usual rent for months, suddenly got a vacate notice for underpaying. Lease paper thing said $650. Going advertised rate for here was $650. Accountant said the computer said $675. Other office staff told accountant to go have sex with computer or something like that in Spanish and Hindi.

4, Nuisance. Was once accused of throwing a three seat couch off a second story balcony. Well I never had a couch and even if I did I could not pick one up and throw it. Nickname in Iowa at job was ” Noodle arms ” ( kind of a result of carpal tunnel in both hands, long story )

My only distinguishing feature that makes me different from the owners, the office staff and the residents of the other 319 apartments in this complex is I am White.

OK another step in digging myself out of a hole.

No car that works and no valid driver licence. So how I do get mobile again you ask.

Well in Iowa you cannot buy a car without a valid license, My car had to be bought by someone else while I learned to drive on the wrong side of the road and get me an Iowa license.

    Hallelujhia!!!! praise be.

    https://legalbeagle.com/12313158-can-register-car-suspended-texas-drivers-license.html

Texas doesn’t require a driver’s license for vehicle registration or ownership, but an owner who does not have a valid license cannot drive. A person just needs a valid photo ID to buy or register a car, but registration requires having insurance, which often requires a valid license to obtain. If someone has a suspended license and drives anyway, not only will they be liable for any damages should they get in an accident, but if they get caught, they can face misdemeanor charges.

So even though license is expired I can buy a new car. Legally someone else has to drive it out of the lot.

But I can BUY a car.

Maintenance crew decided to give her something to complain about. They took a couple of sardines, tied string around the tails, removed the cover of a light switch and hung them in the wall cavity. They let her complain about the smell for a week or so, then went in and “fixed” the problem.

On Wednesday nights, Jerry’s Diner had all-you-can-eat fish fries. Mrs. Pauls & hashbrowns. My college roommates and I would fast the day before, then clean out the diner’s supply. A few weeks of that and Jerry’s limited the fish sticks to 10 per person.

Some one remembers him fondly and with grace.

Please bear with the thread, but Harry Reid meant a lot to me and I want to share a short story about why. In 2002, I was press secretary for Senator Paul Wellstone’s re-election campaign in Minnesota.

On Oct 25, 2002, Paul, his wife Sheila, daughter Marcia, my colleagues Tom, Mary and Will, and two pilots were killed in a plane crash. Harry Reid was one of the first of Paul’s colleagues to fly in. Still in shock, I spent all day taking him around to events and sorting politics

At the end of the day, I took him back to the airport. I was driving Will’s car. The same big black SUV that Will drove Paul and me in to most campaign events.

Someone must have told Reid that Will was my boyfriend. And that at one point in the schedule, I was meant to be on the plane with Paul. It was a fluke I wasn’t that day.

When we went to say goodbye, he asked if he could speak to me alone. He then walked me out to his private plane – a casino jet they had chartered- and asked me to come sit inside with him.

I hesitated. He said: I know what you lost and I know whose car you drove today. And I don’t want you to be afraid to get on a plane for the rest of your life. So let’s just go sit together for a little while.

And so we got on the plane and had a cup of coffee. We shared stories about Paul – how brave he was voting against the war in Iraq. He showed me the fancy gadgets on the plane, crazy to him, having grown up so poor. And I told him about Will, and our plan to move back to DC.

He said he knew I had lost my home and my job, but I had one with him whenever I was ready. The empathy and emotional fortitude he showed that day has stuck with me always. And it wasn’t just that day; he followed up to reiterate his offer two more times.

When I joined @BarbaraBoxer a few months later he said “she’s the best! But I’m still here if you need me.” I spent 7 years with Boxer, working closely with Reid’s team and Democratic leadership. He always had a joke or a kind word for me.

The night we passed the Affordable Care Act, we were working through an impasse over women’s health services with Reid keeping Senators Boxer and Ben Nelson in different rooms. It was Christmas Eve, snowing and everyone was exhausted.

We had no food and everything was closed: we ate a tin of holiday nuts and cookies sent by constituents and lobbyists. Reid needled Schumer for stealing all the cashews. We tried and failed to light the fireplace. And we finally got a deal as the snow really came down.

Together, with all of us in the room, Reid called President Obama from on speaker- I think it was a flip phone- and said we have a deal and we’re headed to the floor. We cheered and the President thanked us all.

Harry Reid played a defining role in two bookends of my Senate career. He was powerful and strategic, but also wry and soulful. I’m grateful to have known him, for what he gave this country, and for what he gave me sitting together quietly on a plane in Minnesota. RIP

Messing about and bad behavior during a flight and the Feds take a very hard line. QANTAS by LAW is required to carry two sets of cuffs and 2 baton. Air NZ is less tough. They carry 2 sets of cuffs and a single baton. On a flight Wellington to Melbourne a drunken bitch was playing-up. The Chief Purser reported to the cockpit to report her. We called ahead and the Feds met the flight. Meanwhile the ‘Check and Training Captain’ who was ‘checking’ our flight decided he had to intervene. The Tech crew didn’t care as it distracted the Check Captain as we got an easy ride. The Check Captain took his Aviation Offences book and a set of ‘cuffs’. The Engineer, being a typical engineer, told the Check skipper to take a baton as well, and to hit her between the eyes to … ‘Attract her attention’…. The Check skipper thought he was serious and said ..” ohh I couldn’t do that”…..

He then disappeared through the cockpit door, and the Chief Purser gave is a blow by blow commentary over his phone. The Check skipper waved his law book at the drunken woman and warned her. The Chief purser was laughing so much the dropped the phone…. She’s kicked him in his ‘naughty bits’ , meanwhile the Check skipper was rolling around on the deck holding his balls. Three crew cuffed her hands behind her back and strapped her down the back in a seat.

When our flight eventually landed in Melbourne the Feds go onto the aircraft via the back stairs while the Check Captain got off up front. Then I had to race down the arrivals tunnel looking for the missing Check Skipper as the Feds wouldn’t move the woman until she was released from the aircraft’s ‘cuffs. I finally caught up with the Check Skipper got his ‘cuff key and raced back to the aircraft. The Feds had meanwhile been interviewing the drunken woman and she was as nice as pie and calm and rational. As soon as one wrist was free of a cuff she lashed out at the female Fed and opener up her face with the cuff on her other wrist. Three Feds jumped up and down on the woman for about 30 seconds until she stopped moving and then one of them dragged her down the aisle and down the back stairs and her face his every step on the way to the tarmac. They then picked her up and threw her physically into the back of a paddy wagon.

You don’t mess with the Aussie Feds!

    🙂

Meantime our whole crew got a well done from the Check Captain!

He’s just fantastic. We played tents and ‘hidies’ with his daddy before he had to leave, and over the break we have played in his sand pit gone on strawberry hunts and he made gingerbread men …. because he’s a big 3 year old now. Lots of ‘bookies’ at bed time and swimming down at the beach most days.

He is medically doing well and will be the face of the Auckland Hospital’s CF team, in a short movie about how parents and staff manage CF learn to live with this challenge. 2022 elections coming up.

I tried to tell someone online that Biden had dementia and they should vote for his ilk or him in any future election. They thought I was insane. Lot of prog voters out there who haven’t come to reality. They have no sense of what makes the country strong. They confuse charity with communism.

I’m not amazed that Biden’s approval ratings are in the mid-40%’s, what I am amazed by is that over 40% of Americans think the Biden administration is doing such a good job they approve of what is happening. I find that more than frightening.

His approval ratings are not above 35% (and I think that’s high). I’m betting it’s around 12%. Nixon’s was 33% when he got on the chopper.

When asked about it after the election, he shrugged and said “Romney didn’t win, did he?”

Yep, not going to dance on his grave, but I’m not going to give artificial plaudits either. He was a very evil man in his life and was ruthless to those who opposed his tyrannical views. Obviously he had some likable traits or he would not have been able to get elected so long and do so much damage to our country.

I was going by a Fox News story I heard this morning while Mom & Dad had it on at 1000 dB. It was a Gallup poll, so, yeah, you can knock 10 favorable points off of that for polling bias. Trump was at 36% but that was after a full year of 98% negative news coverage vs. the 98% positive cover that the Biden administration has been provided by the propaganda arm of the DNC, the Mainstream Media.

In case you were wondering why Bill Gates was buying up all that farmland

In September, the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) announced it had developed a new asset class and listing vehicle aimed at “preserving and restoring the natural assets that ultimately underlie the ability for there to be life on Earth.” The vehicle, known as a natural asset company, or NAC, will enable the formation of specialized firms “that own the rights to the ecosystem services produced on a certain piece of land, such as carbon sequestration or clean water.” The natural assets that these NACs commodify will subsequently be maintained, managed, and grown by them.

Doctor Submits Fluvoxamine EUA Application to FDA
    — Group of physician-scientists believes data support authorization for treating COVID-19

t took about 4 days for David Boulware, MD, MPH, to write the FDA emergency use authorization (EUA) application for fluvoxamine.

Yes, a doctor wrote an EUA application — a task that has typically been relegated to pharmaceutical companies — and yes, it was for a generic drug that physicians could technically prescribe off-label.

But Boulware, of the University of Minnesota, who is involved in a trial that’s investigating fluvoxamine and other repurposed drugs — along with a handful of other doctors and researchers — took it upon themselves to apply because they believe the data substantiate its use in COVID-19.

“The big thing is, the data [are] available,” Boulware said in an interview, referring to two published randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trials. “There should be enough data that the FDA would approve this under the normal review process to add a new indication for the drug.”

I have some form of ‘thing’ (they thought a kind of dyslexia) that when I try to reproduce a geometric image I do a mirror image. Discovered during an IQ test.

Also, very young, I had a RAGING case of synesthesia. It is probably what killed my math potential. If 2 is yellow and 4 is blue then when you add them it’s green which is 7. Don’t ask. I had to re-teach myself algebra when I was 26. I used pik up stix. I totally lost out on chem. I simply could not get thru my head that when figuring out how formulas remix they all break down to the individual components because MUSIC. Not to mention those geometric images my brain turned into mirror images.

    And yeah, I’m left handed.

But once upon a time I wrote code that just sang. Languages I got/get.
