well, I don’t know about ‘smell’.

My dry brine pork chops were totally perfect. Remove from fridge an hour before baking.

At 400 degrees, 15 min per half inch. Boneless center cut.

YMMV. Check w/digital probe. 145 degrees, let rest 5 min.

The suggestions of sage, rosemary were perfect, I added thyme to the rub. Olive oil coating.

    Thanks for the help.

After the Senate Commerce Committee refused to advance her nomination in the first congressional session, President Joe Biden renominated Sohn on January 4, daring the Senate to block her again.

Study: Gas stoves worse for climate than previously thought

The methane leak isn’t dangerous to human health or as a possible explosive, Jackson said. But when conducting the tests, researchers found high levels of nitrogen oxides, greater than 100 parts per billion. Jackson said the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency doesn’t have indoor air quality standards for that gas, but the measurements they took exceed its outdoor air quality standards. While methane doesn’t include nitrogen, the nitrogen oxides are byproducts of the combustion in natural gas ovens, he said.

    jernalizm

Deadspin published an article over the weekend warning NFL teams that they better not hire Mike McDaniel, the San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator, because he’s a white guy.

“Please stop and think before you inadvertently dub another young, white guy as the next hot NFL coaching prospect,” Deadspin’s subheading reads.

The first step to proper race-baiting is getting the skin colors of the subjects right. Deadspin missed that step. McDaniel is biracial, not a dangerous creature known as a “white man.”

Upon learning of this loser writer’s mistake, Deadspin hilariously added an editor’s note to the top of the post, reading as follows:

We learned after the publication of this article that 49ers OC Mike McDaniel, whom we describe as a “white guy,” is in fact biracial. The article’s original text remains below. We regret the error.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren Sued For Asking Amazon To Suppress Covid Book In Search Results

Chelsea Greene Publishing is suing Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren for allegedly abusing her political authority to push Amazon to censor their book titled, “The Truth About COVID-19.” The publisher alleges serious First Amendment violations.

On September 7, 2021, Warren sent an official letter to Amazon CEO Andy Jassy urging him to suppress the bestseller written by Joseph Mercola and Ronnie Cummins in Amazon’s search results for “perpetuating dangerous conspiracies about COVID-19 and false and misleading information about vaccines.”

Chelsea Greene responded by filing a lawsuit accusing Warren of “violating the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution by seeking to stop booksellers from selling and/or promoting” their book. The lawsuit cites the Supreme Court case Bantam Books v. Sullivan, which held that government officials violated the First Amendment by “sending letters to booksellers warning the sale of certain books was potentially unlawful.”

NBA Interrupts Wizards-Clippers Game with Chinese Ambassador Speech

The National Basketball Association (NBA) subjected an audience at Tuesday night’s game between the Washington Wizards and Los Angeles Clippers to a speech by Chinese Ambassador to America Qin Gang.

Capital One Arena broadcast a pre-recorded speech by Qin to the audience on Tuesday on the occasion of Lunar New Year – which the NBA referred to as “Chinese New Year,” despite it being a celebration observed throughout Asia – that also featured Chinese dance troupes, a performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner” on a Chinese traditional instrument, and other activities “honoring Chinese culture.”

This official Chinese government appearance at what was billed as an apolitical sporting event follows years of efforts by both the NBA and the Communist Party to strengthen ties, resulting in the NBA profiting to the tune of billions of dollars. The NBA’s partnership with Chinese mega-streamer Tencent ensures that Chinese fans can watch government-censored versions of the competition in the United States.

Well, given the fact that natural gas and propane stoves have been in use for the past 100 years or more, it’s pretty safe to assume that those levels of nitrous oxide in the indoor atmosphere are largely harmless since the median age continues to go up. Which then raises the question of where they got the outdoor level requirements and why they are so low.

Diesel engines. There are various onerous regulations on the amount of nitrous oxide that Diesel engines can emit. Makes the cost of the engines higher, requires some fairly sophisticated equipment to support the reductions and is just another cost factor for transportation and farming equipment.

With inflation well above 2 percent and a strong labor market, the Committee expects it will soon be appropriate to raise the target range for the federal funds rate. The Committee decided to continue to reduce the monthly pace of its net asset purchases, bringing them to an end in early March. Beginning in February, the Committee will increase its holdings of Treasury securities by at least $20 billion per month and of agency mortgage‑backed securities by at least $10 billion per month. The Federal Reserve’s ongoing purchases and holdings of securities will continue
    .
    .
Indeed, the Fed’s fear and lack of backbone was much more clearly emphasized in Jay Powell’s Q&A with reporters, which followed the release of the FOMC’s statement.

During the presser, Powell repeatedly emphasized that the Fed must remain flexible and that the targeted policies could change at any time, depending on the economic situation. “We need to be adaptable,” he said, and managed to include the typical dovish remarks when he stated that really the current goal with the balance sheet is—at some point—“allowing the balance sheet to begin to run off.” Although the press released mentioned movement toward quantitative tightening for the balance sheet, Powell repeatedly downplayed this in the Q&A.

not this time. I used a steady 400 degrees for 27 mins. The changing oven temps would have been a variable that would confuse the test. Also the reason I didn’t pre-sear. But now that I know how it works and what to expect, I will next time. I did make sure the chops were out of the fridge for at least an hour. Next time will be 450 degrees for 5 mins, lower to 400 for ?? minutes until internal temp 145, test every 5 mins.

Allegheny County is home to more structurally deficient bridges than any other county in the country, Lamb said.

Not something you hear every day:

National Weather Service Issues ‘Falling Iguana Alert’ in Florida

This weekend is expected to be one of the coldest in four years for South Floridians, prompting the National Weather Service in Miami to issue a Falling Iguana Alert via Twitter.

Jan. 30 is predicted to be the coldest day locally since 2018.

South Florida occasionally sees temperatures dip into the 30s and 40s overnight, which causes the cold-blooded reptiles to become “temporarily stunned,” until temperatures warm up. They are known to sleep in trees and when immobilized by the cold, they “stiffen and lose their grip on the branches,” and fall to the ground or sometimes on an unsuspecting passerby.

Iguanas are not indigenous to Florida and are considered invasive by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission (FWC). Native to Central and South America and Mexico, they prefer warmer climates, making Florida ideal. However, when temperatures reach 40 and below, they slip into a cold-induced slumber. Instead of dying, they thaw out and return to be a pest another day.

The other night I heard, “83% of hospitalizations are unvaccinated …”. We had a truckies revolt late last year on the State Boundary between New South Wales and Queensland. The moronic Premier of Queensland was playing silly buggers so the truckies staged a 10+ mile stationary ‘convoy’ and stopped all State traffic both ways. The Pacific Highway can be bottlenecks quite easily right on the boarder. When the point was made they peacefully withdrew. Now ALL States are in melt down as Omicron rips through them. The Political class doesn’t have a clue what to do, and it really shows. People now know that their ‘pollies’ are self serving morons, except for the 50% who are scared into auto-compliance with ANYTHING the States demand.

    THIS is serious!

Now we are in a situation where gridlock is threatening and the Truckies are again ‘on the move’. Truckers have massive power because without them the supply chain grinds to a halt

    🙂

    This is classic.

The idiot Labor (socialist) State Premier of Western Australia totally shut off his state from everyone…. both internally and externally. Then he passes a law (Western Australians are a pack of socialist idiots with loads of money in their pockets from mining) and 80% of them support the Labor Party.

So a Billionaire mining magnate calls for an inquiry into the rorts of the Premier who goes ballistic and slanders the billionaire. Offending billionairs is great sport but it can cost a bit if serious cash!

The billionaire brings legal action against the Premier of WA for slander. The billionaire lives in Queensland and the court will hear the case in Queensland. The WA Premier asks the judge to run his court through Zoom and the Judge tells the WA Premier to forget Zoom, and to get his arse into a Queensland courtroom next week OR ELSE

Now the WA Premier can get out of his State but then he’s forbidden by his own legislation to get back home after the court hearing.

Hoist on one’s own pittard… anyone?

    Then there’s this utter bullshit

    ————-

In their update to the USDA pricing forecast and analysis dated January 25, 2022, the USDA claims: “2021 retail food price inflation continued at same pace as 2020 but varied among food categories.” Oh, but it gets even more stupid:

“USDA, Economic Research Service (ERS) researchers project that prices for food-at-home, or food purchased typically from grocery stores or other food stores, will increase between 1.5 and 2.5 percent in 2022, lower than the 3.5-percent increase that occurred in both 2020 and 2021. Forecasts for all food categories for 2022 are available in ERS’s monthly Food Price Outlook data product, updated January 25, 2022.” (link)

If there was ever an argument that every single institution in the U.S. government was corrupt, manipulative and ideologically bent, this claim by the USDA would be a case study in the supportive evidence.

Sri Lanka has announced compensation for more than a million rice farmers whose crops failed under a botched scheme to establish the world’s first 100-percent organic farming nation.

…The government will pay 40,000 million rupees ($200m) to farmers whose harvests were affected by the chemical fertiliser ban, agriculture minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage said on Tuesday.

“We are providing compensation to rice farmers whose crops were destroyed,” he told reporters. “We will also compensate those whose yields suffered without proper fertiliser.”

The government will spend another $149m on a price subsidy for rice farmers, he added.

About a third of Sri Lanka’s agricultural land was left dormant last year because of the import ban.

PITTSBURGH (January 12, 2021) … Wi-Fi and Bluetooth technology have provided an invaluable connection to the workplace and the outside world as we remained sheltered at home in 2020. As part of a virtual research competition, a team of University of Pittsburgh undergraduates explored if a comparable equivalent to this ubiquitous technology could allow scientists to wirelessly manipulate cell behavior and control gene expression.

The group pitched this idea for the 2020 International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) competition, an annual synthetic biology research competition in which teams from around the world design and carry out projects to solve an open research or societal problem. More than 250 teams participated in the organization’s first Virtual Giant Jamboree, and the Pitt undergraduate group received a gold medal for their project titled “Bluetooth Bacteria.”
    .
    .
The team ultimately decided to attach magnetic nanoparticles to the surface of bacteria and stimulate them with an alternating magnetic field (AMF). The nanoparticles react to the AMF stimulation and dissipate heat, causing the temperature of the bacterium’s cytoplasm to rise. They then used a protein dimer to act as a “bio-switch” to control gene expression.

“At lower temperatures, the protein dimers bind to a target DNA sequence and turn off gene expression, but at higher temperatures, heat causes the proteins to un-dimerize,” Catalano explained. “In its un-dimerized state, it can no longer inhibit gene expression, turning the system on. The change in temperature is controlled by the stimulation of magnetic nanoparticles with AMF, allowing wireless control of gene expression in bacteria.”

Essentially they’re insinuating that we’re being implanted with Bluetooth trackers. Well, a standard Bluetooth tracker that is currently available runs on a button cell battery usually a cr2032. This is a 3v battery, when used in a Bluetooth locator device it usually is only good for 3 months to a year depending on how often you “ping” the device (attempt to locate it). I just don’t see nano-sized Bluetooth devices that run on our bioelectric systems being feasible yet.

Nope…not even a little bit crazy:

Jim Acosta: Virginia Is ‘A Soviet-Style Police State’ Under Gov. Youngkin

On Tuesday night, CNN’s Jim Acosta said that Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin has turned his state into “a Soviet-style police state” by ending the teaching of Critical Race Theory.

Acosta told his guest, Molly Jong-Fast of The Atlantic, “I seem to remember Glenn Youngkin campaigning, in a fleece vest in Virginia. He was running as a different kind of Republican. I was told there was going to be a vest, not a Soviet-style police state across the Potomac from Washington.”

The state’s newly imposed Critical Race Theory (CRT) ban shows how “the culture wars are also contributing to the erosion of democracy,” said Acosta during the special “Democracy In Peril,” which aired at 7 p.m. “The new culture wars are impacting our laws. And some experts fear, they could be weakening our democracy, just as badly as the Big Lie,” the Nazi-era slogan that CNN applies to questioning the 2020 presidential election.

Acosta accused Youngkin of “pitting citizen against citizen” immediately after playing a clip of the governor promising to remove “inherently divisive teaching practices out of the schools.” Acosta seemed outraged by removing the racially polarizing CRT curriculum from taxpayer-funded schools — the chief campaign promise made by Youngkin and Lieutenant Governor Winsome Sears — which Acosta said violates “the traditional conservative tenets of liberty, anti-censorship and freedom.”

Acosta also slammed Youngkin for setting up a process for parents to complain if public school teachers violate the law by teaching racially divisive concepts, such as claiming all members of one race inherently oppress all members of other races. Acosta likened the measure to the Texas Heartbeat law, a pro-life protection that allows citizens to sue abortionists who perform an abortion after a fetal heartbeat can be detected, usually around the sixth week of pregnancy. “How concerned should we be, about these laws that seem to be catching on of, citizens ratting each other out?” he asked Jong-Fast, adding they encourage “canceling your neighbor across the street or next door.”

    This is very cool

A Billion Years of Time Are Mysteriously Missing. Scientists Think They Know Why.

The Great Unconformity, a missing chunk of time that appears in rocks across the world, is the ultimate example of this phenomenon. This giant lapse in Earth’s memory exceeds one billion years in some places, resulting in 550 million-year-old rocks sitting atop ancient layers that date back 1.7 billion years, with no trace of the many lost epochs in between.

For over a century, scientists have debated the cause of this immense geological blackout, which erased a huge chunk of the Neoproterozoic era. Two main explanations have emerged, which are not mutually exclusive: One suggests that tectonic activity associated with the assembly and breakup of the supercontinent Rodinia created the Unconformity, while another points to erosion from widespread glaciation during our planet’s “Snowball Earth” phase some 700 million years ago.

Now, a team led by Kalin McDannell, a postdoctoral researcher in earth sciences at Dartmouth College, has presented new evidence that glaciers were the main force that carved out this mysterious gap in time.

The researchers discovered a strong “cooling signal” at four very different geological locations across North America, suggesting that continental-scale glaciation may be “the only foreseeable process that can account for both the formation and preservation of the Great Unconformity,” according to a study published Tuesday in The Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

“Something really unique was going on in terms of global geodynamics and surface processes that allowed the Great Unconformity to both form and then be preserved,” said McDannell in a joint call with C. Brenhin Keller, assistant professor of earth sciences at Dartmouth and a co-author of the study. “That’s my perspective on why this has captured people’s imaginations.”

Previous studies on this massive gap in time have found evidence of tectonic erosion at sites such as Pikes Peak, Colorado, and the Ozark Plateau in Missouri, which were near Rodinia’s active fault lines 700 million years ago. In their study, McDannell’s team widened the scope from these regions to include rocks from East Lake Athabasca in Saskatchewan, Canada, and the Minnesota River Valley, both of which were far from any tectonic activity during this ancient era.

Billionaire Clive Palmer is batshit crazy but he has his heart in the right place. His political party stunt died in the dust when nobody turned up to vote, even though Oz remains the only country where compulsory voting remains.
There used to be two hold outs. The CCCP and Oz…. Now there is only OZ. You can vote for yourself or write something naughty on your voting paper or vote Mickey Mouse but you HAVE TO TURN UP and vote, unless you are out of your electorate on voting day when you can register a postal vote. Even if you’re overseas there is STILL a legal requirement to vote. The fine for not voting is $100.00. I know!

Once I turner up at the Australian Consulate in Auckland NZ ready to vote. The line was out the door and down several stair wells. After2 hours I finally got to vote only to find that I had forgotten a piece of paper that was in Oz. Not only did I miss voting but my car got towed and it cost me $300 to get it back. Then the $100.00 fine turned up! I vented my spleen over 3 closely typed pages, and after several phone calls I was ‘let off with a warning’!

The NIH has a fantastic library, I used to run over to Bethesda and used it often for various stuff. Now that it’s online, it’s even easier because everybody can use it. And they are.

Look what popped up. This guy is a prof of medical ethics

Some theorists argue that moral bioenhancement ought to be compulsory. I take this argument one step further, arguing that if moral bioenhancement ought to be compulsory, then its administration ought to be covert rather than overt. This is to say that it is morally preferable for compulsory moral bioenhancement to be administered without the recipients knowing that they are receiving the enhancement. My argument for this is that if moral bioenhancement ought to be compulsory, then its administration is a matter of public health, and for this reason should be governed by public health ethics. I argue that the covert administration of a compulsory moral bioenhancement program better conforms to public health ethics than does an overt compulsory program. In particular, a covert compulsory program promotes values such as liberty, utility, equality, and autonomy better than an overt program does. Thus, a covert compulsory moral bioenhancement program is morally preferable to an overt moral bioenhancement program.

Compulsory moral bioenhancement should be covert

    Another of Gascon’s brilliant moves:

Convicted Child Molester Will Serve Sentence in Female Juvenile Facility

A 26-year-old California man convicted of molesting a 10-year-old girl will serve out his sentence in a female juvenile facility because he now identifies as a woman.

James Tubbs was 17 when he grabbed the child by the neck, shoved her into a school bathroom stall, and sexually molested her.

DNA only recently linked Tubbs to the assault eight years ago.

After being taken into custody Tubbs adopted a new gender identity of Hannah Tubbs, making him eligible to serve his two-year sentence in a detention facility for women.

Tubbs is still anatomically a male and has not undergone any gender reassignment surgery.

The prosecutor, Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon, tried Tubbs as a juvenile even though he is 26 years old, which made him eligible for sentencing as a juvenile. That means Tubbs will not only be housed with females, but with minors.

As an adult, Tubbs was convicted of sexually assaulting two young girls in separate attacks. Tubbs confessed and pled guilty when confronted with the DNA evidence and then adopted his new female identity.

“Because of [LA District Attorney] George Gascon’s blanket policy against transferring any juvenile to adult court, even if the 17-year-old rapes or murders an innocent child, James Tubbs will not have to register as a sex offender,” child abuse prosecutor Jon Hatami told Fox News.

“[Tubbs] will not spend any time in county jail or state prison, will be 26, and housed with juveniles for a very short period of time, and will be released with no probation or parole monitoring.

“The victims will get no justice. The public will get no safety,” Hatami added.

It’s not even noon and I’ve already hit my stupid quota

For more than 20 years, California has been giving homeowners financial incentives to install rooftop solar panels on their homes. The goal here is to encourage the use of solar power.

Because whatever you subsidize you get more of, the program has more than achieved its goal of one million solar rooftop installations.

That should be a cause for celebration.

Except that we’re talking about leftists here. And leftists always find something to complain about.

In this particular case, they are claiming that their own very successful program, which they have been supporting for more than two decades, has created “racism” and “inequities.”

And their proposed “solution” to this “racism” and “inequity” is to create a new tax on the very rooftop solar installations that they have been subsidizing for more than two decades.

A new initiative by environmental organization Friends of the Earth (“FoE,” called “Milieudefensie” in The Netherlands) threatens to plunge the Dutch economy into a green abyss. Last Thursday, FoE sent a letter to the 30 largest companies in the Netherlands demanding that those companies submit a “climate plan” by April 15. To support its demands, FoE relies on the verdict it won in a case against Shell, in which the District Court of The Hague ordered Shell to accelerate its emission reductions to solve the “climate crisis.”

With that verdict in hand, FoE is now trying to bring the entire Dutch business community to its knees. Thus, an activist private organization that represents only a minuscule part of the Dutch citizenry has been appointed legislature, executive, judge, and bailiff all in one.

I don’t think there’s been a parallel case in the U.S. but there has been something else that SCOTUS upheld with about as much mushy reasoning as Roe v Wade. It’s called the ‘precautionary principle’, which says the EPA (I think it was the EPA) can impose stuff w/o regulatory or statutory support as a ‘precaution’ against some harm they pulled out of their ass.

The last Federal Labor (socialist) administration gave huge subsidies on solar power. The folks dived right in and ‘solared-up’ while the gettin’ was good. Billions were spent and with a shortage of registered electricians many dodgy installations happened. Dozens of houses burned down and a handful of ‘sparkies’ got fried. Finally the Labor party cried ‘uncle’ and the rort finished!

My brother got a FULL solar conversion for about $3k and had the rights to sell power back to the utilities company at 4 times the rate that he had to buy it from them in winter when the sun didn’t shine.

Nice work if you can get it!

Finally even the socialists understood that they were on the end of a really bad deal and that the folks were screwing them. That was the end of that subsidy but it was great while it lasted

When the government fails to perform its duty to protect the safety of its citizens, there are citizens who are going to start watching out for their own safety and that of their fellow citizens. This is not going to end well because innocent people are going to get caught up in those vigilante actions.

Isn’t it funny how every solution to a problem that politicians cause is “new taxes”? This would be funny if it wasn’t so pathetically stupid. … and what if the homeowners say, screw it, we’re not paying any more taxes, come take the panels back? I’m sure the law will be written such that the tax is part of the property tax, so you lose everything if you don’t pay. It’s Commiefornia though, the citizens voted in this stupidity, so they can live with it. We have some friends at church who bemoan the fact that one of their sons in in California and has fully bought into the liberal lies. We had a deal here in AZ about 20 years ago when Nappy Napolitano was guvn’r and got a subsidy in place for people to buy hybrid cars that ran on both compressed natural gas and gasoline with a huge subsidy if you bought one of these abominations. It was a total scam, she had a relative in the conversion business who profited handsomely. I had some colleagues who bought SUV’s and other vehicles before the subsidy went away — there was no obligation to ever use compressed natural gas (for which it was exceedingly hard to find dispensing stations), the vehicle just had to have the conversion. So people were buying Suburbans and others vehicles with a subsidy on the order of 20% the cost of the vehicle. The program was ended early because it nearly bankrupted the state.

A Key interview between the sole living member of the Team of Canadian First Ministers plus the Canadian Federal Government 1982, who drafted the 1982 Canadian Constitution. He is the link back to those individuals and he speaks not about the letter of the Canadian Law that is being abrogated but the Spirit of the law that Underpinned that Constitution.

The leaving out of the opening Premise of the Canadian Constitution 1982 by Federal government and legal entities says it all.

Peckford describes the hijacking of the Canadian Constitution by the current Canadian PM, even to the extent of replacing the 9 signatures of the First Ministers of the 9 Provinces and leaving behind ONLY the signature of Pierre Trudeau the PM at the time (who was the father of the current PM Justin Trudeau). This hijacking of the foundation Constitutional document of Canada shows the level of illegality currently loose in Canada. Even the fairness of the Canadian Supreme Court is brought into question.

The corrupt Canadian administration attempted to hijack the Canadian Constitution Act 1982.
First they stripped it of all 9 names of the Provinces First Ministers (that was required by law to show that all 9 provinces agreed). Leaving just the sole signature of the PM Pierre Trudeau. The aparatchniks did this knowing that Pierre Trudeau’s attempt to draft a Canadian Constitution Act 1981 was totally rejected in 1981. In an act of REWRITING HISTORY they stripped out all Provinces’ First Ministers signatures, leaving just Pierre Trudeau’s signature as Prime Minister.
Second the same corrupt aparatchniks stripped the introductory preamble sentence from the Canadian Constitution Act 1982, that mentions God and Liberty and indicates that all of the following Act is based on these principles.

    this is beyond cool

It would be easy to look at the vivid array of colour contained in the paintings of artist Concetta Antico and assume she is using artistic licence. The trunks of her eucalyptus trees are hued with violet and mauve; the yellow crest on her cockatoo has hints of green and blue; the hypercolour of a garden landscape looks almost psychedelic.

“It’s not just an affectation and it’s not artistic licence,” says Antico. “I’m actually painting exactly what I see. If it’s a pink flower and then all of a sudden you see a bit of lilac or blue, I actually saw that.”

Antico is a tetrachromat, which means she has a fourth colour receptor in her retina compared with the standard three which most people have. While those of us with three of these receptors – called cone cells – have the ability to distinguish around one million different colours, tetrachromats see an estimated 100 million.

Ezekiel Emmanual, from Obama’s health care team, who thinks everybody should be dead by 75, is a piker compared to this precious psychopath.

Make no mistake. This is not happening in isolation. This is part and parcel of the transhumanism effort I’ve posted about. It’s coming at us from all sides, not just the World Economic Forum/Davos/Klaus Schwab segment.

The Big Lie 2024: A Peek Inside the Ruling Elite’s Playbook to Kneecap Trump, Purge Military, and Neutralize MAGA

Their goal: To render the 2024 election null, with a preordained outcome that poses no danger to the ruling elite’s wishes. And the planning for this revolution is happening right out in public.
    .
    .
The Atlantic magazine dribbled out a warning of the plot back in October. In his article entitled, “Kamala Harris Might Have to Stop the Steal,” Russell Berman argues that, while it would have been bad if Mike Pence had intervened to prevent Joe Biden’s victory last January, it will be perfectly legitimate if Harris does the same in 2024.
    .
Should Trump or his acolytes try to subvert the 2024 election, the last Democrat with any power to stop the steal—or at least try to—would be Harris. “She’s certainly going to have quite a job on her hands on January 6, 2025,” Laurence Tribe, a Harvard law professor and liberal constitutional scholar, told me. Nine months ago, Tribe and other Democrats praised Pence for interpreting his authority narrowly, but the next time around, they might ask Harris to wield the same gavel more forcefully. [The Atlantic]
    .
Writing in the Washington Post one week before Christmas, three retired Army generals further developed the open conspiracy against a free and fair election in 2024.

But the military cannot wait for elected officials to act. The Pentagon should immediately order a civics review for all members — uniformed and civilian — on the Constitution and electoral integrity. There must also be a review of the laws of war and how to identify and deal with illegal orders. And it must reinforce “unity of command” to make perfectly clear to every member of the Defense Department whom they answer to. No service member should say they didn’t understand whom to take orders from during a worst-case scenario.

In addition, all military branches must undertake more intensive intelligence work at all installations. The goal should be to identify, isolate and remove potential mutineers; guard against efforts by propagandists who use misinformation to subvert the chain of command; and understand how that and other misinformation spreads across the ranks after it is introduced by propagandists.

Finally, the Defense Department should war-game the next potential post-election insurrection or coup attempt to identify weak spots. It must then conduct a top-down debrief of its findings and begin putting in place safeguards to prevent breakdowns not just in the military, but also in any agency that works hand in hand with the military.

    A FRIEND COMMENTS:

The main problem with MeWe is the lack of post threading, with the attendant impossibility of linking to a specific post. I am cut-n-pasting here instead:

“GoFundMe has frozen $4,700,000 raised by the Canadian truckers, and Facebook has just banned their 600,000 strong FB group, which was growing more than 100,000 followers a day!” (Source: Stephen Tambolas)

That’s an interesting development. Lessons learned:

    1. Use sites other than GoFundMe for fundraising.
    2. Facebook supports censorship (like that’s news…)
    3. Eventually, blocking the peaceful redresses of grievances will promote deliveries of truckloads of rapidly exothermic hints to the rulers.

It’s very unwise to block peaceful protest. But our ruling class is very unwise. And you can always count on the tech companies to support the establishment, however sleazy the actions required to do so. They have no honor, no principles, and no shame. That will be their downfall in time.

Self driving vehicles should be outlawed.

Do you think any of these truckers would have made it to Ottawa if those trucks had chips that could be hacked? No they would not.

And if you look at some of Biden’s legislation, one of those proposed laws is to put a kill switch in every vehicle, supposedly to deter car thieves.

    Think. Again.

Nope. Before they turned D.C. into a fenced-off prison, you used to be able to walk your dog on the grounds, picnic, etc. It’s really pretty . Or was.

Members of Congress are concerned that House Sergeant-at-Arms William Walker’s proposal for sophisticated new electronic identification programs to monitor and control who can enter any part of the U.S. Capitol complex could become a civil liberties nightmare.

“We must ensure we are protecting the rights of citizens to petition their elected officials, and legislative activities guaranteed by the Constitution. I have serious concerns that implementing a system that would potentially track the movements of members, visitors, staff, and the press would have a chilling effect on how Congress operates,” Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Ill.) told The Epoch Times.

“Additionally, any changes to security processes should be done in a way that engages with both chambers, and members from both parties. In recent years, we have seen politics enter into far too many security decisions, and the results are never good. I hope this doesn’t become the latest example.”

Davis is the top Republican member of the House Committee on Administration, which would have oversight authority over the proposed system if it becomes a reality.

Walker told members of a House Appropriations Committee panel on Jan. 11 that the purpose of the proposed system is to increase security in the wake of the Jan. 6, 2021, breach of the U.S. Capitol.

“Working in collaboration with this subcommittee and the Capitol Police Board, I would like to institute a Capitol Access Verification Entry System (CAVES) program. The system would ensure Members of Congress and the USCP [United States Capitol Police] know exactly who is entering the Capitol Complex, and for how long,” Walker told the Subcommittee on the Legislative Branch.

“CAVES would be a security model based on a strict identity verification process. Having a secure ID with the proper electronic devices and software to validate highly secure government identification is an essential starting point for the CAVES system,” Walker told the appropriations sub-panel.

This is a good resource to have.

The “In Their Own Words” series is dedicated to translations of Chinese documents in order to help non-Mandarin speaking audiences access and understand Chinese thinking. In the “In Their Own Words” series, CASI aims to provide Chinese texts that illustrate thoughtful, clearly articulated, authoritative foreign perspectives on approaches to warfare at the strategic, operational, and tactical levels.

The 2020 Science of Military Strategy is a capstone document on PRC’s current military strategy. The text was prepared by China’s Academy of Military Sciences faculty with very high-level review, and this is the fourth publication of the text after the 1987, 2001, and 2013 publications. There was also an edition published in 2018 by the PLA National Defense University.

A little thing called ‘The BIG WET’ season Cold.

The thing that really pisses me off is that all of that water flows North into the Gulf of Carpentaria and is lost forever. There was a plan hatched when the 20 year Snowy Mountains Scheme was coming to an end to transfer all of that dam, tunneling, hydro station building and water reticulation skillsets, that created the Murrembidgee Irrigation Area (MIA) in Southern NSW, to be transferred to Northern Queensland.

The Plan was to dam all of the Northern Rivers, turn them through 180 degrees and send the water South into all of the tributries of the Darling River system. That would have created a massive MIA market gardening area the size of Alaska, growing enough vegetables, fruit and wheat to feed 1 billion people.

Alas politicians got involved and because of their narrow political mindset the scheme was still born!

    January 17, 1988

Jimmy (the Greek) Snyder, CBS Sports commentator, analyst and oddsmaker, was fired by the network yesterday after a controversial television interview Friday in which he said many blacks were superior athletes because of breeding from the time of slavery and that the only area in sports left for whites was coaching.

Snyder, 70, had been with CBS Sports for 12 years. In an interview shortly after the midday announcement, he said that CBS executives wanted him to resign, but he refused and was fired by CBS Sports President Neal Pilson in a telephone conversation from Hawaii.

“I told him {Pilson} I wanted to face everyone Sunday,” Snyder said. “He told me, ‘I can’t let you do it.’ ”

Pilson was not available for comment, but Gene F. Jankowski, president of the CBS Broadcast Group, said, “{Snyder} made a number of remarks about black and white athletes which had patently racist overtones. CBS wishes to categorically disassociate itself from these remarks.”

Meta Will Allow Solicitation of Human Smuggling on Its Platforms

    https://freebeacon.com/issues/meta-will-allow-solicitation-of-human-smuggling-on-its-platforms/

Meta, the company formerly known as Facebook, privately announced on Monday that users can use its platforms to solicit human smugglers, a decision that goes against demands by anti-human trafficking groups that urged the tech giant to crack down on the practice.

In an internal announcement of Meta’s “human smuggling policy” obtained by the Free Beacon, the company concluded that a crackdown on human smuggling solicitations would hamper the ability for people to use the platform “to seek safety or exercise their human rights.” The company said it will maintain its current policy, which prohibits users from offering human smuggling but allows them to solicit smuggling services.

Meta said it reached its policy decision after five months of deliberation that sought out “global perspectives and a broad range of expertise.” No specific organizations or groups are named, although Meta said they included “NGOs working with migrants” and “former border enforcement officials.” Ultimately, more stakeholders advised the company to allow the solicitations, it said.

“We observed that a slight majority of stakeholders favored allowing solicitations of smuggling services for reasons associated with asylum seekers,” the memo reads. “We decided that this was indeed the best option since the risks could be mitigated by sending resources, whereas the risks of removing such content could not be mitigated.”

In order to “mitigate the risks” from allowing migrants to seek smugglers on its platforms, Meta said it “proposed interventions such as sending resources to users soliciting smuggling services.” It did not elaborate on what those resources may be or whether they would end up effectively discouraging human trafficking. The company said it would allow “sharing information related to illegal border crossing.”

The commitment to the controversial policy demonstrates the tech company’s willingness to bow to left-wing activists even if it means facilitating illegal activity. An April 2021 report from the Tech Transparency Project identified a surge in Facebook groups devoted to human smuggling.

Jeff Zucker Exits CNN After Relationship With Senior Executive

The relationship came up during the network’s investigation into the former anchor Chris Cuomo. “I was required to disclose it when it began but I didn’t,” Mr. Zucker wrote in a memo to colleagues.

Jeff Zucker resigned on Wednesday as the president of CNN and the chairman of WarnerMedia’s news and sports division, writing in a memo that he had failed to disclose to the company a romantic relationship with another senior executive at CNN.

Mr. Zucker, 56, is among the most powerful leaders in the American media and television industries. The abrupt end of his nine-year tenure immediately throws into flux the direction of CNN and its parent company, WarnerMedia, which is expected to be acquired later this year by Discovery Inc. in one of the nation’s largest media mergers.

In a memo to colleagues that was obtained by The New York Times, Mr. Zucker wrote that his relationship came up during a network investigation into the conduct of Chris Cuomo, the CNN anchor who was fired in December over his involvement in the political affairs of his brother, former Governor Andrew M. Cuomo of New York.

“As part of the investigation into Chris Cuomo’s tenure at CNN, I was asked about a consensual relationship with my closest colleague, someone I have worked with for more than 20 years,” Mr. Zucker wrote. “I acknowledged the relationship evolved in recent years. I was required to disclose it when it began but I didn’t. I was wrong.”

“As a result, I am resigning today,” he wrote.

The whole thing about “access to NATO bases” is to allow inspections to show that we haven’t deployed any ground launched cruise missiles in bases close to Russia.

Since we withdrew the GLCM launchers ages ago and converted the missiles to air launched configuration, that one’s pretty simple.

Every time he’s given a chance to stand for a conservative cause or principles he’s chosen the wrong cause and principles. Joke is that under him they are Liberal Lite. Hence the fall in donations.

The final straw was this past weekend when the truckers showed up in Ottawa. He refused to meet with any of them and aped Trudeau’s talking points. The guy had a spine of a jelly fish and the caucus had enough. Hence the petition to force a leadership review which only needed 20% of the caucus to launch it. Injecting Beagle Puppies With Cocaine: Investigation Discloses More NIH Animal Experimentation

Injecting beagle puppies with cocaine is the latest in a series of taxpayer-funded experiments on animals disclosed by the nonprofit watchdog group White Coat Waste Project (WCW).

WCW obtained the documents through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), disclosing that the National Institute of Health (NIH) and the National Institute of Drug Abuse (NIDA), which itself is a part of NIH, spent $2.3 million in taxpayer funds to keep dogs infused with an “experimental compound” of drugs that included cocaine.

According to Amanda Nieves in her article for the WCW, experiments that ran from September 2020 to September 2021 and March 2020 to March 2021 were filmed to observe for adverse reactions.

The experiments were contracted to SRI International, Nieves said, which WCW has reported in 2021 as the institute that was de-barking beagles by cutting their vocal cords so that the dogs couldn’t bark, howl, or cry during an experiment.

Also in 2021, WCW exposed NIAID’s experiments on beagles that involved having sandflies eat the dogs alive, as well as experiments that involved force-feeding 44 beagle puppies an experimental drug before killing and dissecting them.

How long before this is flushed down the memory hole?

A Johns Hopkins study says ‘ill-founded’ lockdowns did little to limit COVID deaths

The researchers say lockdowns had no noticeable effect on COVID mortality and had a “devastating effect” on economies and social ills.

Researchers at Johns Hopkins University have concluded that lockdowns have done little to reduce COVID deaths but have had “devastating effects” on economies and numerous social ills.

The study, titled “A Literature Review and Meta-Analysis of the Effects of Lockdowns on COVID-19 Mortality,” said lockdowns in Europe and the U.S. reduced COVID-19 deaths by 0.2 percent.

Shelter-in-place orders were also ineffective, reducing COVID-19 mortality by 2.9%, the study said.

“We find no evidence that lockdowns, school closures, border closures, and limiting gatherings have had a noticeable effect on COVID-19 mortality,” the researchers wrote in the report, issued Monday.

The study concluded that lockdowns “are ill-founded and should be rejected as a pandemic policy instrument.”

“They have contributed to reducing economic activity, raising unemployment, reducing schooling, causing political unrest, contributing to domestic violence, and undermining liberal democracy,” the report said.

The study was written by Jonas Herby, Lars Jonung and Steve H. Hanke of the Johns Hopkins Institute for Applied Economics, Global Health and the Study of Business Enterprise.

During the meeting, Miki declares her intention to file a claim against the Governor’s surety bond on behalf of the SUSD board members. Each member of the board will be charged with practicing medicine without a license, child abuse, segregation and inappropriate sexual material in the school libraries.

Miki served each board member with 10 letters of intent by 10 different parents. Each claim carries a liability of up to 100K – this means each board member carries a total liability of $1 million in the event that the claims are filed. Now the board members have 5 days to rectify the situation or the parents of SUSD will file the claim.

Emerald Robinson takes a hatchet to Mike Pence. This woman will have your head off before you realize she’s in the room.

    1) Who Fired General Michael Flynn?
Let’s begin with Mike Pence’s least favorite question: “Why did you insist that President Trump fire his National Security Advisor Michael Flynn in the opening days of the administration?” The official story is that Gen. Flynn had lied to Mike Pence about Flynn’s contacts with Russian diplomats. Nobody has bothered to ask Pence exactly how he was informed about Flynn’s private conversations. Think about it: somebody went to Pence with transcripts of Flynn’s calls, and told Pence that Flynn was a national security risk. Who would have access to such phone calls? Who would want to lie about the nature of those phone calls to get Flynn fired?

It almost certainly must have been disgraced FBI agent Peter Strozk.

It’s likely that Strzok was the one who pushed for VP Pence to fire Flynn because we know that Peter Strozk’s assistant was Katherine Seaman — the wife of Mike Pence’s chief of staff Josh Pitcock

Reminds me of the stuff we saw here in 2020. You couldn’t have a campaign rally for Trump, but a BLM protest/riot was fine. Or when they let bars and restaurants be open, but only until a certain time. I didn’t even know the virus could tell time.

The best was when Gretchen Whittmer decreed that hardware/home improvement stores could be open, but only to sell certain items. Apparently, people who plant gardens were in particular danger, since she wouldn’t let them sell seeds or plants.

Mayor issues decree to shoot German vaccine critics

In order to ensure that the ban on assembly in Germany is observed, the use of direct coercion, i.e. physical violence or the use of weapons, have been ordered. After weighing up the conflicting interests, this is “proportionate and necessary” because there are no other means that would discourage potential anti-vaccine participants from walking, the decree states.

This death penalty was imposed and signed by SPD Mayor Christof Bolay (54) on January 26, 2022 and came into effect on January 28. It is unclear whether and how the municipal council was involved in his decision. To date, there have been no large anti-vaccine walks in this insignificant town with around 30 000 inhabitants. The highest number of strolling participants seems to have been less than 150 people.

The quality of leadership raises eyebrows
The Socialist Bolay was never in the Bundeswehr, so he has no weapons training. In fact, the militant mayor from Ostfildern does not appear to have any professional qualifications. Nevertheless, he has threatened armed violence.

The governing leftist clique from Stuttgart shares Bolay’s convictions, where the former Maoist Winfried Kretschmann serves as the Green chief of Baden-Württemberg with the toughest Corona measures. Only the courts and other federal states have managed to slow down Kretschmann’s vaccine fever. The state’s opposition CDU Interior Minister Thomas Strobl, the son-in-law of ex-Bundestag President Schäuble, is however also a jab fanatic.

The current German “elite” has been described as a kakistocracy, a government run by the worst, least qualified, and most unscrupulous citizens. The word was coined as early as the seventeenth century.

Similarly, the jab shill and leader of the Green party Ricarda Lang, is not only a 28-year-old college dropout, with no professional training or significant experience in normal working life, but boasts about being the “first openly bisexual member of parliament”.

After about 3-400 years regular as clockwork the site was covered over with Limestone boulders, and a new site re-carved, by groups of hunter gatherers who followed herds of Orux giant cattle beasts during their annual migration Small family groups would gather with up to 10,000 other hunters in small family groups, to feast an swap genes!

A group of Black New Yorkers sued the Big Apple’s Board of Elections, claiming that the new law allowing noncitizens to cast ballots in local elections violates federal civil rights law because the New York City Council passed the law in order to strengthen the voting power of certain racial groups, diluting the votes of other groups.

“They explicitly used race as a factor of demarking the voter groups that they wanted to give this privilege to and that is a direct violation of the 15th Amendment,” former Ohio Secretary of State Ken Blackwell, a member of the board of directors at the Public Interest Legal Foundation (PILF), which filed the lawsuit, told Fox News.

I’ve seen stories about why Facebook/Meta stock crashed and they’ve cited a loss of users. That doesn’t seem to be the whole story

Facebook/Meta announced its fourth-quarter earnings on Wednesday and it was quite a different mood than Apple’s last week. Facebook missed expectations with lower revenue and a dismal outlook that sent the stock plummeting some 25 percent. And it’s all Apple’s fault.

It all stems from the App Tracking Transparency feature that Apple implemented in iOS 14.5 last April. It’s a simple dialogue box that pops up when you launch an app for the first time. Before you start using the app, you’ll get an alert that asks if you want to allow it to track your activity across other companies’ apps and websites.

Tap Allow and things will continue as they have since you’ve owned your phone. But select Ask App Not to Track and the app will be barred from tracking your activity once you leave it.

It might seem like a small thing, but tracking is big business for a company like Facebook that relies on ads. According to Meta CFO Dave Wehner, “the impact of iOS overall is a headwind on our business in 2022 … on the order of $10 billion.”

The funny things is that I had a call from unemployment, called back, got everything all straightened out and was told I was all good. The next day I got a call from a totally different person, took me nearly a week to get in touch with her since she was always unavailable and sent me to her answering machine, finally talked to her, went over the exact same stuff, was told I would be getting additional paperwork and it all went to hell.
