Didn’t we make some sort of deal w/Ukraine that if they promised to not get nukes they would be protected by NATO or something? Where does that leave us?

I can’t cut-paste this but basically – the Ruskies were not told where they were going – not even Spetznaz – only a few officers who fell further back the closer they got – their digital comms are non-existent so all comms are insecure – there is no unit nor mission cohesion, no food no ammo, all supply vehicles are still outside Ukraine, the few that made it in are exhausted or destroyed.

Almost no on can get a hold of central command, it’s not even a matter of jamming, there’s just no long range commo quipment or relays that went with the troops there

    same link

I begin to suspect Putin was lied to about troop readiness and there will be a few generals getting 9 gms of lead to the back of the head in the basement of Lubyanka

Yes, but it wasn’t a treaty or anything. It was a “memorandum” signed during the Clinton administration.

The Budapest Memorandum on Security Assurances refers to three identical political agreements signed at the OSCE conference in Budapest, Hungary on 5 December 1994 to provide security assurances by its signatories relating to the accession of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Ukraine to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT). The memorandum was originally signed by three nuclear powers: the Russian Federation, the United Kingdom and the United States. China and France gave somewhat weaker individual assurances in separate documents.[1]

The memorandum included security assurances against threats or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of Ukraine, Belarus, and Kazakhstan. As a result of other agreements and the memorandum, between 1993 and 1996, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Ukraine gave up their nuclear weapons

Following the lack of security on their communications, we have been closely cooperating with radio amateurs & translators, across the globe, to document and gather intelligence.

Russian units on ground were then tracked, such as Buran-30, which we can hear planning an artillery attack on a civilian location.

We can also hear jammers trying to interrupt Russian communications and disrupt their coordination capabilities.

    https://ipfs.io/ipfs/QmUMPt9mBbJ4CQS36GNRrcmTYDnjtdXtsN8QWMBYKM3QNF

Using publicly available web radio receiveir (webSDR), callsigns of Russian military units and roles were discovered. Reports of losses, injuries, … everything can be heard. Even them swearing at their own crew, such as in this recording.

    https://ipfs.io/ipfs/QmT93mdDcMMJVBTbVvnQJKUsroGrxqTBj83vS8JkFjK9cR

During a fight West of Kiev, we learned that there was an FOB in Nalivaykovka – to which Yug95 was sent to bring the 200 (KIA) and 300 (Injured).

    https://ipfs.io/ipfs/QmZovWWQ6r3AdHh3ZoWuVMb8vTz2bXEBMUbNJnz44iyrdJ

We also heard them cry during a fight near Kharkhiv, as heard in this recording. But also had fuel issues, trouble coordinating because lack of maps, … While also requesting air support or talking about Iskander strikes.

    https://ipfs.io/ipfs/QmZY41aKtRoKrE8VVKRDbJDkhxyFBTkEh1A87BudQPfENf

Every conversations have displayed a disturbing lack of coordination between units, sometimes even firing at each other. But also, in addition to the simple fact that they are equipped with analogic radios, a lack of logisitical support.

Because unsecured communications, the frequencies have been constantly jammed by civilians, sometimes in the middle of fights, making the ground infantry unable to operate properly and having to withdraw.

i just did some very boring reading (mostly tech pdfs) whilst enjoying a cigar on the deck.

russians use what everyone else uses, SDR (software defined radios) that have all the bells and whistles like packet hopping, secure digital, signal hopping, and are programmable to change with the threat environment.

The Ukies seem to be concentrating their attacks on fuel trucks. Smart move.

Remember the WWII German tank columns stranded on the roads of Belgium with empty fuel tanks. Walking home is a really bad look for tankers. It means that your Logistics system has failed.

Taiwan had access to the bomb via South Africa and Israel. Australia definitely had not only nukes but also thermo-nuclear tech in a joint program with the UK. In BOTH cases the US ‘monstered’ their allies under threats of economic warfare and fiscal ruin and denied their allies the ability to field nukes, in case the US dropped them in the shit, and cut and ran.

The Ukies seem to be learning this hard lesson as we speak.

Thanks for the update Lobo. Right on the money.

Memos obviously aren’t worth the ink and paper they are written on. Hell even The ANZUS Treaty isn’t worth shit, as it only calls for TALKS between signatories if one of them is attacked. There is nothing solid when it comes to actual support. The ANZUS Treaty has only been actioned ONCE in the 9/11 attack in 2001, during the NYC attack when the Aussies offered the US material support.

THAT was the follow on strategy by Germany during the Battle of the Bulge fighting. The panzers were supposed to capture huge US fuel stocks on the way to coast. That logistics (Hail Mary) plan was still born! Given that modern urban civilization usually only hold a few days food, expecting a modern invasion force ‘living off the land’, is a myth. When movement was at the speed of a walking soldier maybe but when mechanized warfare arrived then that option disappeared.

In modern warfare you carry whet you need with you and expect a serious Logistics system to back you up. The Israelis are major malefactors in planned Logistics systems. They just carry whet they need and when that runs out they go home. I saw this in Singapore when the Israeli trained Singaporean Divisions used this highly flawed tactic. It was garbage and it showed.

The Israelis were still only good for a week’s combat before they were out of everything.

The Singaporeans were planning on an infantry thrust northwards up the West coast of Malaysia. With an armoured thrust out of Thailand where they kept their armour, South down the West coast of Malaysia. The Singaporean armoured crews would fly into Thailand ( on Singapore Airlines aircraft) just prior to the outbreak of war. Our Brigade was supposed to be the Malaysians and to stop the Malaysians getting upset, we brought the maps with us. It was the area called the Coromandel and is geographically very similar to the West coast of Malaysia. We just changed all of the Kiwi names into Malay sounding ones.

    🙂

By the way our piddling little Brigade battle Group whipped the Singaporean Army’s 6th Infantry Division in the warm up ‘free play’ part of the exercise. We attacked them before they could get organized an attack on us. Used naval gunfire to destroy the 6th Divisions artillery. Whipped down the coastal road to the West and destroyed the 6th Divisions Logistics tail. Then retreated back north blowing up the road and 3 cross roads behind us. All that was left was a 50 Km line of stalled 6th Division’s supply convoy on the single coastal access road, just begging for destruction by naval gunfire, and air.

The exercise proper then demanded that 1 NZ Brigade Group just sit still and accept attritional destruction in place… as pre-planned before the exercise started. Still We knew who won the real battle by manoeuvre warfare, They knew who won, and we knew that they knew who won!

2 years later the HQ of 6th Singaporean Infantry Division came to NZ for a rematch. This time it was staged in the Southern Alps … to make them use their brains and not just template their tactical solutions. They absolutely got their arses handed to themselves and to rub salt into the wound we took them onto the ground to see what they had just fought over. They were shocked by some of their assessments. One thing they did learn is how to count map contour lines!

Still they did enjoy the post match visit to the Christchurch Casino. So did I. I was LO-ing and wasn’t drinking or gambling, but just making sure the Singaporeans didn’t get into trouble. On the way out the door I had $5 in change in my pocket. I put it into the poker machine next to the door and won a Jackpot!

    🙂

Manchin Calls On Biden to Ramp Up Domestic Production, Cut Ties With Russian Oil

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W. Va.) called on President Joe Biden to relax rules against U.S. oil production which have left the nation heavily dependent on Middle Eastern and Russian oil. Even after the invasion of Ukraine, which the president has condemned, the United States has continued to buy around 500,000 barrels of Russian oil per day.

“The entire world is watching as [Russian President] Vladimir Putin uses energy as a weapon in an attempt to extort and coerce our European allies,” Manchin said in a statement. “While Americans decry what is happening in Ukraine, the United States continues to allow the import of more than half a million barrels per day of crude oil and other petroleum products from Russia during this time of war. This makes no sense at all and represents a clear and present danger to our nation’s energy security.”

Manchin continued, “The United States can and must ramp up domestic energy production and increase access to our abundant resources and technologies to both protect our energy independence and support our allies around the globe.”

“If there was ever a time to be energy independent, it is now,” Manchin added, accusing Biden of being “hypocritical” for continuing to allow the importation of Russian oil. “To continue to rely on Russian energy as they attack Ukraine is senseless.”

Manchin concluded, “In the coming days and weeks, the strategic value of American energy and what can be done to better position our nation on the global stage will be an ongoing topic in the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee.”

Basically what I have learned from my little crypto lessons is that every crypto has a completely different method of valuation. NFT’s are a scam, they are valuated by what people are willing to pay. Crypto is an impossible maze to navigate, there are just too many with too many different means of valuation to understand. It’s absurdity, it’s not the future, it’s a fad. The main beneficiaries are people who get in early (those in the know, basically inside traders). Everyone else are just small fish.

Yes, the fed is studying it, I posted about it. Report due in May I think. It was an interesting post, outlined the issues that would be considered.

To my mind, unless the value floats against a reliable fiat (one in the SPR), it’s not reliable.

But the threat it poses to the dollar can not be overstated. Forget the ‘decentralization’ argument. If a country doesn’t have a currency it’s not a country.

At that very finite level economics and currency are contractual agreements based on psychology. If you have confidence in it then it has value.

There is something I vaguely recall about the velocity of money and supply being critical to economic transactions and health. You have to be confident you have a store of value and are able to move it and exchange it for goods and services.

Crypto has supply issues also. Some are infinite supply. Bitcoin is very limited. there is nothing I would buy with Bitcoin today. The transaction costs are too high. Better just to hold it as a risk tool.

Cars are not. Pay them off as fast as you can. Debt is the dream killer.

My parents NEVER HAD A MORTGAGE. Ever. Dad had a neat trick. He looked for houses in foreclosure. And because he worked for General Motors, we had new cars every year, but he never owned them. They were company cars. So no car payment. That’s how I got to go to a private school and live in Mt. Lebanon. After he retired, one of the perks was one person in the immediate family could buy a car at cost once a year. I drove that Pontiac for 5 years. And I got GMAC family rates financing.

Hubby went there on a trade thing once. Fell in love with the people, fell in love with the vibrancy of Mexico City, pollution notwithstanding. still talks about them. But the poverty, even in Mexico City, was appalling. They have the resources. They don’t have the culture.

For whatever reason, he had Ben Shapiro in his sights. He ambushed Ben while he was with his wife AND CHILDREN – walking to services at his synagogue, IIRC – and decided to harass him in front of the kids. Yelling all sorts of abuse, etc. Shapiro’s children are very young, some weren’t even in school yet. If I had been Shapiro’s wife and the mother of those kids, I would have taken him out there and then.

The other day I watched a video of him making fun of the Holocaust numbers while giggling. How long does it take to bake a cookie? 30 minutes? So how long to cremate 6 million? Doesn’t add up does it? Maybe a couple hundred thousand but….

He thought he was very clever and he laughed at his own erudition the entire set.

BUT. I have not (yet) seen any evidence that he is a white nationalist or even an anti-semite. He seems to be trying to set himself more as an iconoclast more than anything else. He has no value system, no core beliefs, he just has to find some way to be the center of attention.

I would like to accommodate him. Give him his own funeral. Truly a mutilation of the human personality, that one

You’re using a proxy for the dollar?

Actually I can use my crypto anywhere. Coinbase has a debit card that makes crypto as usable as any other money…but….because every crypto is it’s own seperate currency it is all divided so I have to go into coinbase and select which crypto I am currently using with the card. So, it will never be as usable or mainstream as just plain money.

The mega yacht (or should I say a big catamaran) measuring 492 feet will be a revolution in the aviation industry with its twin airships filled with helium. These gigantic airships will be connected via a central carbon deck measuring 33 feet wide consisting of a master cabin, living area, and a large dining section. The outer edges of the airship have five en suite staterooms each, so taking along best buddies for the adventure of their lifetime is certain.

I don’t know if any of you remember, but there was a case in California (I think) a few years back when a toddler was taken from white parents who had adopted legally and was taken from them under this act. I don’t know if this is the same case or not.

I have to say, SCOTUS is brave beyond belief to take this on. Whatever the ruling is, the racial accusations will fly hard and heavy. I don’t know of any Constitutional ruling that puts the interests of the child first. This just may reinforce the institutional protection of specific ‘classes’. There is no good outcome here.

*POWELL: POSSIBLE TO HAVE MORE THAN ONE RESERVE CURRENCY

    https://twitter.com/zerohedge/status/1499054023860793347

Rest in Peace 50bps March rate hike.

Moments ago, Fed Chair Powell said that he is “inclined to support a 25 basis point rate hike” in March, which immediately killed any market expectation of a 1+ rate hike in two weeks.

However, in the very next sentence, Powell said that if inflation stays hot, he could move more than 25 basis points at upcoming meetings, which in turn pushed the full year rate hike expectations sharply higher, from 5.2 to 5.6.

Yeah, every crypto transaction has a fee. Taken from the crypto you use, it’s 2.49% for each transaction. I thought it was different for each crypto but I switched them around and it’s the same. But, hey I didn’t purchase any of it with my money so none of it is a loss to me. I just keep taking crypto quizzes when they pop up and they keep giving me free crypto. None of it worth much, but I can occasionally buy a sandwich or taco. At one point I was able to order a bunch of cigars.

    On my lunch break.

What a strange war this is in the Ukraine.

Neither side seems to be trying very hard.

Just stumbled upon this live feed from the Ukraine.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZebYm-nenY

All the lights are on. Yes I know in this new age of GPS and inertial navigation it does not matter if potential targets are lit up like a Christmas tree but…. Why is the power still on at all?

( Thinking of WWII when the Germans were following the reflection of the Moon on the Thames to get to London and the low level Mosquitoes were following reflections off Dutch canals. The cities were in total blackout )

Also for all you interested in World economic alliances outside of NAFTA and the EU get a load of this one!

    BRICS https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BRICS

BRICS is the acronym coined to associate five major emerging economies: Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. The BRICS members are known for their significant influence on regional affairs.[1] Since 2009, the governments of the BRICS states have met annually at formal summits. India hosted the most recent 13th BRICS summit on 9 September 2021 virtually.

Originally the first four were grouped as “BRIC” (or “the BRICs”) before the induction of South Africa in 2010.[2] The BRICS have a combined area of 39,746,220 km2 (15,346,101.0 sq mi) and an estimated total population of about 3.21 billion,[3] or about 26.7% of the world land surface and 41.5% of the world population. Four out of five members are among the world’s ten largest countries by population and by area, except for South Africa which is twenty-fourth in both.

Members of G20, as of 2018, these five states had a combined nominal GDP of US$19.6 trillion, about 23.2% of the gross world product, a combined GDP (PPP) of around US$40.55 trillion (32% of the world’s GDP PPP), and an estimated US$4.46 trillion in combined foreign reserves.[4][5] The BRICS have received both praise and criticism from numerous commentators.[6][7][8] Bilateral relations among BRICS states are conducted mainly based on non-interference, equality, and mutual benefit.[9] The existence of the BRICS grouping does not signify a formal or informal alliance; there are multiple economic, territorial, and political disputes among the five governments.

    Notice the last part

The existence of the BRICS grouping does not signify a formal or informal alliance; there are multiple economic, territorial, and political disputes among the five governments.

But at least they are all talking….

I did my nuclear power plant training course in the late 80’s . Anyway not knowing the exact date it was before 1991

Was on vacation in Wales and fortunately with a partner who was also interested in Nuclear power, railway steam engines, slate mines and RAF airfields used for the launching of target drones. Wales is an awesome place to vacation.

Actually the friend that I was with at that time 30 years later moved from London and now is living in that area. She got a new friend….

Back to nuclear power plants. I/We got lucky. There was ( or still is, it won’t be fully gone until 2080 something ) a nuclear power plant that was in a shutdown state while it was being inspected to see if the licence could be extended.

They opened it to the public by appointment only. We got one! Just the two of us and a guide. Guide was one of the plant operators so he knew his shit.

It was fascinating, a fully loaded and operational nuclear power plant kind of in standby. Not generating but could be within days of renewal.

To get in we had to do the change clothes thingy and go through radiation detectors before we entered. Whole body detectors and some doohicky you put your hands in and it checked for radiation under fingernails.

Reason for detecting radiation BEFORE you went into the reactor building?

Anti nuclear power activists had been known to contaminate themselves with naturally occurring radioactive minerals, go on the tour and set off alarms.

Well to cut a long story short, while wearing hard hats and really effective ear noise protection spent probably the most interesting couple of hours in my life. The noise in there was so loud you could feel the vibration in your chest.

Reactor cooling pumps running, and they looked really big. Steam generator turbines being slowly turned by huge electric motors. They keep them turning to stop the shafts bending or something. I think lubricating oil had something to do with it.

Up near the top of the reactor was quieter and from an observation gallery you could see the machine that replaced fuel. Was told it was safe to walk across the top of the reactor, but outside of the official tour.

The building that housed the spent fuel rods in a big swimming pool was down a tunnel. That was a nice place, so quiet and the water looked warm and inviting!

I suddenly remembered why I am posting this memory!

Even in a shut down condition Trawsfynydd Power Station was consuming approximately 10% of the power it would have produced when operational just to keep it safe.

As a side note the whole facility was the cleanest place I have ever been in. I mean cleaner than restaurants and hospitals.

Fukushima reactors did not turn nasty because the tidal wave hit them. They went nuts because their electricity supply was cut off.

The accident was triggered by the Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami on Friday, 11 March 2011.[11] On detecting the earthquake, the active reactors automatically shut down their normal power-generating fission reactions. Because of these shutdowns and other electrical grid supply problems, the reactors’ electricity supply failed, and their emergency diesel generators automatically started. Critically, these were required to provide electrical power to the pumps that circulated coolant through the reactors’ cores. This continued circulation was vital to remove residual decay heat, which continues to be produced after fission has ceased.[12] However, the earthquake had also generated a tsunami 14 metres (46 ft) high that arrived shortly afterward, swept over the plant’s seawall and then flooded the lower parts of reactors 1–4. This flooding caused the failure of the emergency generators and loss of power to the circulating pumps.

No electricity and nuclear reactors splode.

While eating lunch I am pondering about HVAC electrical transmission ( High Voltage Alternating Current ) and HVDC transmission ( High Voltage Direct Current )

With HVAC the transmission grid has to be synchronized. AC as in Alternating Current is awesome because voltages can be stepped up or down using cheap transformers. But it means that the whole electrical distribution system has to do the ” This line is positive, this line is negative and now swap!!!! all together… )

With HVDC you can send power and you do not have to worry about what the other end of the cable does with it.

Because of modern technology the conversion to HVAC to HVDC and the conversion of HVDC back to AC is easy.

This current situation in the Ukraine is an example of how separating a countries power grid into DC and AC for long range transmission is a smart idea.

The North island of NZ uses AC. So does the South Island.

They are connected by undersea power cables, but the North and South are not synchronised.

    Connection is DC

When we had to evac Harrisburg because of the accident we stayed with his family, so he gave me a tour and explained what happened. The Harrisburg reactors were owned/operated by West Penn and their operators were trained at Breazeale. BIL told me West Penn chose the cheapest, least intensive training course offered because they wanted them online ASAP. Anyway, the tour was fantastic, I learned a lot. Expanding on this…

Microwaves are a measure of the frequency of an electromagnetic wave, or a radio signal.

The 5G network uses far higher frequencies than a microwave oven so it must be more besteder at heating up mushroom soup and frying brains!!!!

Kind of true but not.. Any high power radio waves are harmful to the human body and pigeons( Look up how the urban legend about the discovery of the microwave oven came about. Fully cooked pigeons falling from the sky near radar installations. )

A microwave oven operates at a very specific frequency that pisses off water molecules. And other things like aluminum foil, bacon, cigarette lighters and kittens…

OK maybe a bad example but microwave ovens operate at a specific frequency for a reason.

    Cooling towers? Why bother?

Well to generate electricity you turn water into steam, in an oil fired, coal fired or Nuclear power plant.

A natural gas power plant is kind of different, that is a fucking load of jet engines….

The water you turn to steam is ideally as pure water as you can get. If you use water straight out of a river you is going to get weeds, silt, fish parts, old bicycles and the occasional dead body a jilted spouse dumped in the river.

So, cooling towers. You have nice clean water that you turned into steam and it went through a turbine generator. High pressure, medium pressure then low pressure. All the steam energy is used, but what exits the generator is still steamy.

Hey use a cooling tower to turn that used steam back into wet water and use it again. No need to filter out fish parts and dead bodies. You get nice clean and pure water back.

A costal/lake/river situated power plant uses cold water from the lake/river/sea to cool down your nice filtered water that was steam back to wet water.

Hence no cooling towers by coastal/river/lake power stations.

But as you can see the river/lake water that was used for cooling the nice filtered water that was steam is itself cooled down by making it flow along channels around the lake/river before it, the warm water, is allowed into the lake/river again.

    Environmental protection 101 1906’s style.

Limit the effects of nuclear power plants on the environment.

No making rivers and lakes artificially warm…..

This latest development will now make Russia withdraw from the Ukraine territory and say sorry and pay billions of Rubles in compensation.

    https://www.rt.com/russia/551104-russian-cats-fife-sanctions-ukraine/

The International Feline Federation (FIFe) has weighed in on the Ukraine crisis, banning Russian-owned cats from competing in its shows as a sanction for Moscow’s military attack on the former Soviet republic.

“The FIFe executive board is shocked and horrified that the army of the Russian Federation invaded the Republic of Ukraine and started a war,” the Paris-based federation said on Tuesday. The group added that it “cannot just witness these atrocities and do nothing.”

As a result, cats belonging to Russian residents will be banned from entry at FIFe shows. In addition, no cats bred in Russia can be imported and registered in a FIFe pedigree book, the group said.

BREAKING: First Major Ukraine City Falls to the Russian Invaders

A couple of things to take note of. First, Kherson was not defended in strength by the Ukrainian army. That was a good decision because Kherson is away from the center of gravity of the war that lies around Kiev. Taking Kherson does give Russia access to lines of communication crossing the Dnieper River and opens the route to Odessa. Second, I think we’re beginning to see an outline of what Russia sees as the endgame. The “breakaway” regions of Donetsk and Luhansk have expanded to give control of the Sea of Azov and a large part of the Black Sea coast to Russia.

The surrender of Kherson has to be seen as expected. It will be disheartening to some Ukrainians. Kherson has a population of about 300,000, and it is 70 percent Ukrainian. If an insurgency spawns there, the Russians will not be able to hold the city. Its loss, however, is more critical to what happens at the cease-fire negotiations than it is to what is happening outside Kiev.

Iron Fist’s wife is a cat person.. she has 7 – or maybe 8 – now. I don’t remember life before dog hair. She has exponentially more housekeeping than I do.

But my dogs are fascinated by cats. There was a feral kitten here when we first moved in that used to visit and she is adorable. I thought about taking her in but $$$ and I don’t know enough about cats to care for them properly. Also, I have enough animal crazy. But I was smitten. Fortunately the people next door took her in to control the mice in their barn so she’s well cared for and I see her every now and then. She’s all grown up and she beats up on their Great Pyrenees when he decides our Psycho Puppy is making too much noise and starts barking at her.

Altho I don’t understand why – with a cat and a Great Pyrenees – none of their chickens have been slaughtered en masse.

Cats are great companions. You do not really have to do anything except make sure they have water available somewhere and food.

Normal cats do not even have feeding times. They will not over eat like dogs do. Cat food here is available 24/7

Indoor only cats obviously need a liter box. Indoor/outdoor cats need one too but they only use it when it is raining outside.

What I like best about cats is they do not do anything you tell them to do and even though they know their names and know when you are talking to them ( That ear rotating or tail twitch gives it away ) they usually don’t give a shit.

My main experience with nuclear stuff was on the bottled sunshine end. As to cats, you may recall that I live out side of any city limits, there usually anywhere between 3 and 6 feral cats hanging out close to me. I feed them once a day, they keep the mice and snakes away.
Come to think of it, I once maintained a couple of the computer systems at a nuclear power plant under construction. The first time I went there I noticed a sign that said to check all weapons with the gate guard. I mentioned that I had a pistol and the gate guard freaked out, turns out I was the first to surrender a weapon and they didn’t actually have a place to secure a weapon. After about 15 minutes of dickering we agreed that the magazine would go in the trunk (boot for you) and pistol in the glove box. They never mentioned the pistol again.

    @ Possum:
No, they’re true feral, the ones that are around are the ones that learned to avoid the eagles, falcons, hawks and owls that hunt around here.

    @ Possum:
You cannot control the population of cats really. If animal control comes and takes away all the feral cats within a few months other cats move in to that vacant territory.

The TNR ( Trap Neuter and Release ) program keeps the feral cat population in place but they do not breed.

Animal control are not, in theory, supposed to catch and kill a cat that has an ear clipped.

And run faster than the animal control Nazis

    @ Possum:
I live in an unincorporated area, the only animal control is when the sheriffs help round up loose cattle.

    @ Bordm:
well if you see a cattle with the tip of its ear missing it is a feral cattle and should remain not rounded up.

That was a reference to banning cats that were bred in Russia or have Russian cat DNA from competing in international cute cat competitions.

You definitely need a couple of Main Coon cats Mate.

You can take them swimming, they beat up other cats and establish their territory AND you can walk them like dogs. Great talking points with the ladies in the park as well.

    🙂

    Problem solved!

In this life the cats chose me…

Capturing an urban area is one thing. Holding it is quite another matter, especially when you have very limited troop numbers, spread out over a huge area.

So before I go to bed, Russian invasion of the Ukraine.

World reaction to stop it is….

Seize bank accounts of Russians. No effect.

Prevent overflights or landing of Russian airlines. No effect.

Kick Russia out of SWIFT financial system. No effect.

Then it got nasty. Prevent Russian cats from competing in cat beauty contests. No effect.

Now they are getting really serious! Stop Russians that have no arms and legs from going to the paraplegic winter olympics.

That will do it. Way to stop a war.

It was years before I learned that “fucking architect” was two words.
In the case of our house, the fucking architect worked for the fucking developer who told the fucking architect “fuck the homebuyer.”

    @ Possum:
    We’re involved with TNR.

We keep saying “we’ll take this cat in, get it fixed, socialize it, then take it to the Humane Society.” Everything happens except that last step. How else would we end up with 20 cats? Plus an outdoor stray (very well fed and friendly) and a feral.

At our old house, we put a cat flap in the garage door so that the stray and ferals could get in out of the bad weather.
