    @ Bunk Five Hawks X:

I wish I knew a way to edit here. I’m old, make typos by the tons. At FB, YT etc., no because I can edit immediately after posting. As far as I know, this is not an option here on WP, right ?
The worst part is that I can stare right at an error and not see it. Refresh the page and voilà, it stands right out. Oh well …

Watched and old b/w movie from 1959: ‘The Devil’s Disciple’ (1959). Found it on a web site with a lot of free old movies that ya can’t find elsewhere:

    https://archive.org/

Apparently its a gov’t repository for all sorts of media, public domain stuff, so its free. If ya start looking around theres all sorts of neat things to read/hear/watch.

I’m trying to locate two more movies right now. They’re movies I watched around the 4th back when I was a kid:

‘All That Money Can Buy” (1941) I’ve always known it as “The Devil and Daniel Webster”. Used to get spooked by ‘Mr. Scratch’ (Walter Huston) when I was a kid.

    and:

    ‘The Howards of Virginia’ (1940)

    Not having any luck.

Any old movie buffs here ?

Not seeing any errors/typos so I’m gonna go ahead and hit ‘Sbmit Cement’…

    yes, thats a joke.

So far, I’ve watched 7 of the 8 episodes of The Terminal List. It’s relatively faithful to the book.

I’m not sure about the actress they cast as Katie, only because those who have read the later books know that she ends up as a love interest for Reece, and I really can’t see it at the moment.

Personally, I think I would have gone with someone like Emily VanCamp.

The 48-year-old posed up a storm in a plunging silver gown as she was awarded the best actress award for her role in Jolt.

Katie Pavlich is who I basically see when I read the books, but she’s not an actress.

I think Emily Van Camp would have been a good substitute. And she has experience doing action roles, with all her MCU stuff.

That’s how she’s described in the books, yes.

They changed her character to be the daughter of a Chinese dissident in the show. She talks about it in Episode 7.

Remember, he’s a Lt. Commander (O-4). And it’s not base housing. It’s in Coronado.

Its the day when all the Forefathers collectively and simultaneously turn over in their graves in reaction to the shitheads of the past year.

no biggie. I was born in 1952, I’m 70 yrs old, graduated high school in 1970

If REMCO made toys just for boys, I would have had little reason to encounter their products. I did have toy guns but at the time, that was not considered gender-specific. We ALL had those little pistols that shot those cap things. Cap guns I think they were called. Red strips with black dots that went CRACK! My parents had pics of my sister and me dressed up as little cowgirls pointing our guns at the camera. Have no idea where those pics are, I think my sister may have them.

Something else I didn’t know. Delaware? Srsly?

Has Biden—who never met a Southern racist Democrat (George Wallace, Robert Byrd) he didn’t want to buddy up with—ever acknowledged and apologized for his useless state’s rancid history? Fat chance; instead, throughout his hacktastic political career, and in earlier delusions of running for president, he explicitly identified his state with the South during the Civil War as he pandered for support:

The same story went to quote a presidential primary campaign speech Biden had given in Alabama in which he said “we (Delawareans) were on the South’s side in the Civil War.”

Leave it to the Democrats, the party of slavery, segregation, secularism, and sedition that started the Civil War, to nominate and elect a senile dinosaur from the last human-bondage state in the Union.

Farmers have blocked roads, distribution centers getting emptied, no milk/eggs on the store shelves and…

The Dutch gov’t told farmers that their farms will be closed down to meet some climate change target for nitrogen. Dutch farmers export a lot of meat & other foods. Seems we’re supposed to starve to meet some climate change target. Meanwhile, the farmers (Boer) are fighting back.

Yeah, you’re first for the blindfold

Canadians will be required to get a Covid shot every nine months for the foreseeable future, says Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos. Previous definitions of “fully vaccinated” made no sense, he told reporters.

“Nine months is very clear and will help people understand why ‘up to date’ is the right way to think about vaccination now,” said Duclos.

“‘Fully vaccinated’ makes no sense now. It’s about ‘up to date.’ So am I up to date in my vaccination? Have I received a vaccination in the last nine months?”

Duclos previously called for the provinces to make vaccinations mandatory and when asked by reporters if mandates would return this fall, he replied “We must continue to fight against Covid.”

A Virginia school district is prohibiting teachers from consulting parents when students as young as kindergarten-age switch genders at school.

Fairfax County Public Schools is instructing teachers and administrators to forgo parents’ permission when a student requests to use a bathroom or locker room associated with his or her so-called gender identity, according to screenshots of a mandatory faculty training module obtained by the Washington Free Beacon. The district will also allow schoolchildren without parental consent to change their names and on its virtual learning portal “identify as male, female, or nonbinary.” Teachers could not proceed with the “Supporting Gender-Expansive and Transgender Youth” training until they checked the correct boxes, regardless of their personal beliefs.

Rep. Gaetz introduces bill to ban IRS from acquiring ammunition

The IRS has reportedly spent $725,000 this year on ammo.

Along with fellow Republican Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (Ga.), Jeff Duncan (S.C.), and Paul Gosar (Ariz.), Gaetz is pushing the “Disarm the IRS Act,” which would prohibit the IRS from acquiring (by purchase or otherwise) any ammunition.

The bill arrives following Gaetz’s discovery that this year alone the IRS has spent $725,000 on ammunition. Odd timing, he says, considering the nationwide shortage of ammo and Biden administration’s stated animosity toward gun rights.

The incident began when the victim — Manhattan resident Christopher Baugh, 33 — refused to turn over his wallet and cellphone, telling the robbers, “Get out of my way,” cops said.

Instead, one stuck his leg out behind Baugh and the other pushed him to the ground.

After he failed to convince them to leave him alone, they rifled his pockets and swiped his city-issued phone and a wallet holding five credit cards, cops said.

Foreign-Born MS-13 Members Butchered Teenagers in a Park in the Deep Blue DC Suburbs

The victims, just 17 and 14 years old, were butchered with a machete and pickaxe before being tossed into shallow graves; their killers sent video back to El Salvador in hopes of impressing gang bosses

Five foreign-born members of MS-13 have been convicted of murdering two teenage boys in the ultra-wealthy, deep blue DC suburbs of Fairfax County, Virginia. Gang members lured the boys to a park before restaining them, killing them, and chopping them up with a machete and pickaxe. They even recorded footage of the brutal murders on a cell phone camera so that videos could be sent back to El Salvador to impress MS-13 bosses, who they hoped would give them promotions within the gang.

“On the night of August 28, 2016, the gang lured E.E.E.M. to Holmes Run Stream Valley Park in Fairfax County under the pretense that there was going to be a gang meeting there. Instead, in a wooded area of the park, gang members restrained, attacked, and killed E.E.E.M., stabbing and chopping him more than 100 times with knives, a machete, and a pickaxe. Afterwards, the gang broke one of E.E.E.M.’s legs so that his body would fit into the pre-dug hole that was nearby.”

In case you were wondering, it was Debra Messing that got Joe Biden elected.

Debra Messing was fed up. The former “Will & Grace” star was among dozens of celebrity Democratic supporters and activists who joined a call with White House aides last Monday to discuss the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade.

The mood was fatalistic, according to three people on the call, which was also co-organized by the advocacy group Build Back Better Together.
Messing said she’d gotten Joe Biden elected and wanted to know why she was being asked to do anything at all, yelling that there didn’t even seem a point to voting. Others wondered why the call was happening.
That afternoon, participants received a follow-up email with a list of basic talking points and suggestions of Biden speech clips to share on TikTok.

    more on the Netherlands

    https://andmagazine.substack.com/p/holland-on-the-brink-of-civil-war

On Monday farmers appeared at the home of the Nature and Nitrogen Minister Van der Wal-Zeggelink. Hay was burned, fireworks were set off and a police car was pushed out of the way so tractors could enter the street. Farmers also emptied a tanker containing slurried manure into the roadway. Police were apparently unable to disperse the assembled farmers due to the size of the protest.

Farmers also protested in the Netherlands’ political capital, The Hague, where two cows were brought to participate in the protests as well. Prime Minister Mark Rutte called the actions “unacceptable and out of proportion” and condemned the farmers’ actions. He has characterized the massive protests as the actions of a small minority and demanded they stop. His comments have been echoed by other members of his administration.

Last night things escalated further. Dutch police fired shots at protesting farmers. According to the police they were being threatened by the farmers. They claim the farmers were attempting to push past a checkpoint and roadblock onto a highway in the province of Friesland and started to drive their tractors onto police officers and their vehicles. Video from the scene does not appear to confirm this version of the facts.

According to the Dutch police, their shots hit a tractor and no one was injured. Three individuals were arrested. The Rijksrecherche, the Dutch government’s internal investigator, said it would look into the events as required when police discharge their weapons.

Pfizer Asks Court to Dismiss Whistleblower Lawsuit Because Government Was Aware of Fraud

The lawyer representing whistleblower Brook Jackson said Pfizer is arguing the court should dismiss Jackson’s lawsuit alleging fraud in Pfizer’s COVID-19 clinical trials because the U.S. government knew about the wrongdoings but continued to do business with the vaccine maker.

A lawsuit filed by whistleblower Brook Jackson alleging Pfizer and two of its contractors manipulated data and committed other acts of fraud during Pfizer’s COVID-19 clinical trials is paused following a motion by the defendants to dismiss the case.

In an interview with The Defender, Jackson’s lawyer said Pfizer argued the lawsuit, which was filed under the False Claims Act, should be dismissed because the U.S. government knew of the wrongdoings in the clinical trials but continued to do business with the vaccine maker.

Under the False Claims Act, whistleblowers can be rewarded for confidentially disclosing fraud that results in a financial loss to the federal government.

However, a 2016 U.S. Supreme Court decision that expanded the scope of a legal principle known as “materiality” resulted in a series of federal court decisions in which fraud cases brought under the False Claims Act were dismissed.

As interpreted by the Supreme Court, if the government continued paying a contractor despite the contractor’s fraudulent activity, the fraud was not considered “material” to the contract.

Pfizer is a federal contractor because it signed multiple contracts with the U.S. government to provide COVID-19 vaccines and Paxlovid, a pill used to treat the virus.

“Pfizer claims they can get away with fraud as long as the government would write them a check despite knowing about the fraud,” attorney Robert Barnes said.

The situation in the Netherlands is interesting.

If you read all the reports without delving deeper it appears ” Farmers are outraged to be dragged off their land ” says Michael Yon, a supposed respectable and accurate journalist.

No farmers are being dragged off their land and their farms destroyed. The goal of the bill signed last week was to reduce Nitrogen emissions in some areas by 2030.

Not an unreasonable goal in my opinion.

Dutch farmers argue that other EU countries are not clamping down on the agricultural industry as hard as the Netherlands. During a protest Monday, a group of farmers at a Dutch Natura 2000 region near the German border put up flags and a “Welcome to Germany” sign to symbolically make it part of the neighboring country.

Ahhhh….and they had 1 year to comply…while the rest of Europe ignored it

Shut down farms because of new regs…

You’ve got a forest and trees problem Cold.

Nitrates and ammonia levels are the tool to minimise the levels of food production.

The core of this whole vendetta is …. he who controls the food controls the population. It is really as simple as that. Agenda 30 writ large. Price cheap food out of the reach of the average Dutchman, make it really difficult to distribute what food is left and you have a great mechanism to enforce rationing and a decrease in population. It’s NOT going to be radical (maybe) but it is a slow drip …drip that sees populations plunge over the next couple of generations and backs up the already woeful reproduction rates across the whole of Europe.

Piggeries do have some problems because of animal densities, and the management of run off. The tech is emerging that can reduce significantly gaseous emissions, but mostly for ruminants not pigs. Liquid waste recycling is the way to go for piggeries where ammonia management and methane production can be used to produce a significant level of a piggery’s power supply. Initial capital costs are the current sticking point, but it’s nothing that government can’t fix if they are serious about cleaning up the problem with Pig meat production.

The problem is that the government doesn’t WANT to fix the problem, as it’s the perfect tool with which to destroy the Pig meat industry.

Yup I know all of that. The solution is management of farm waste to isolate it from the surrounding environment, treat it and use it as a resource. Pigs are a special case and I understand that. Ruminate pollution can be fixed with a two tier approach. Fix the Nitrogen from the… ‘front end’ … by mixing normal fodder with seaweed. Problem solved. Then fix the problem from the … ‘rear end’ …. by a combination of waste management solutions that have already been solved. Especially so there ruminants are housed as in Holland, and not wandering free in fields.

All of these problems have solutions. All that is lacking is brain power and $$$$$$ in capital to modify the animal husbandry industries.

Silly farmers. THAT would have FIXED the problem and the farmers could have increased production, raised food standards, and made mucho $$$$$. The farmers need to see the BIG picture here.

THAT however is NOT what the EU wants to happen. It wants the farmers to be pauperised and food production to tank. Already the food distribution system is under attack. What is happening in Europe is an attack on the food production side, and a planned scarcity of food.

Control the food supply and you control the captive population and bend them to your will.

Liquid waste recycling is the way to go for piggeries where ammonia management and methane production can be used to produce a significant level of a piggery’s power supply.

Hell in 1970-71 a farm at a place called Ossima in theWest Sepik District of New Guinea was harvesting 100% of its electricity from farm waste. Raising ducks for the table, that were fed from ponds growing water based green plants with farm run off, after all of the methane had been harvested to power generators. The gas was stored in large tractor tubes and pressurised by placing large slabs of concrete on top of them.

Ossima had a total closed system of farming that emptied NOTHING into the nearby river, that might upset the crocodiles!
This was 50 years ago and was set up by a single monk with a few smarts and access to a load of manpower. Another monk down the coast at Lietre (in the middle of a malarial swamp) manufactured all of the districts Single Sideband communications systems. These guys did this type of stuff off the top of their heads with little external input and with minimal $$$$ funding. The only thing they needed was diesel for the mowers to cut the grass to keep the airstrips open so that I could get in and supply them with a few luxuries and contact from the outside world.

So…it appears that the Highland Park shooter didn’t use a so-called “assault weapon” at all. It was a Kel-tec Sub-2000, which is a weird little folding pistol caliber carbine. It comes in either 9mm or .40 caliber, and uses standard pistol magazines.

I used to have one. Finally got rid of it because it was basically pointless.

Eric Adams aide mugged at gunpoint told crooks: ‘You don’t want to do this. I work for the mayor’

    https://nypost.com/2022/07/05/eric-adams-aide-mugged-at-gunpoint-in-nyc-sources/

But in a show of utter contempt, they ignored the warning, with one man lifting his shirt to display the butt of a pistol tucked into his pants, the source said.

    *snort*

Why, how is this even possible? NYC has strict gun laws. Really strict. No way a regular citizen could legally acquire a gun. Oh. wait. Yeah, that pegs the karma meter.

By forcing those farmers to give up their livelihoods. That’s the same as dragging them off their land. And that’s a totally unreasonable goal with no reason to exist.
