Is this more importing people to do the jobs Americans won’t do? Do we really need more criminals?

Biden Administration Releases Over 1,300 Criminal Illegal Immigrants in 1 Month

President Joe Biden’s administration released over 1,300 criminal illegal aliens in a single month, according to recently disclosed statistics.

Immigration officials released 521 convicted criminal aliens and 795 with pending criminal charges in December 2022, per data released by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

The number of convicted criminal aliens and those with pending charges released was up from 58 percent from the month prior and 48 percent from October 2022.

Convicted criminals are defined as people who violate immigration law and have a criminal conviction at the time they’re taken into custody by ICE. The exact convictions are not detailed.

Other immigrants have pending criminal charges at the time of arrest.

Most of the releases stemmed from orders of recognizance, or an interim determination that the alien in question is “not a detention priority.”

Others were under orders of supervision, were released due to a field office being “unable to obtain a travel document,” or put on parole. The latter is a case-by-case determination for “urgent humanitarian reasons or significant public benefit” enabled by federal law.

I’m not surprised. Honestly, to me this sounds like a gang thing, the Scorpion Unit being the gang and I wonder if Tyre was targeted for some reason. The entire ‘give me your hands’ thing when his hands were clearly available seems to be an act for the police body cam.

Alas I believe that you’re correct. The US governance system is flawed because it’s been corrupted from within the bureaucracy, and when it’s that far gone it’ll take a miracle to recover from that death spiral.

We’re all screwed as well because there is no honest player left on the block to keep the bad guys in check. Oz needs to start manufacturing its own nukes ….. mT class thermonuclear warheads as doomsday guarantees that will ensure belligerents will also end up with a mouth full of ashes. This should have happened in the 1960s before Oz and the UK were threatened by the US with economic warfare into bending the knee. With ‘friends’ like this who needs enemies?

Death toll in Auckland is now 5 after some guy paddling down a street in West Auckland in a kayak last evening was swept into a culvert and drowned.

Mrs AI made it down to ‘the Beach’ Saturday evening in my 4X4. Got as far as Maramarua on HW2 and ran across quite a few cars roadside and full of water. Being a ‘country girl’ she knew about crossing submerged roads and such. Chatted to some locals who had been getting past the water and asked the edges were and whether they were stable. Some guys had walked the flood and checked it out for snags or holes. She just stayed behind her bow-wave and stuck to the plan and kept on ‘trucking’. Piece of cake.Several (lots actually) of cars ended up full of water and stalled half way through the flooded section when drivers chickened out have way through or tried to drive across at speed! NOPE! Mostly Chinese drivers from Auckland or the odd tourist who ended up getting towed out by the military overnight.

Last night in Auckland I had an Automated General Amber Emergence Alert Warning on my phone, warning another 70 mm where I was last night between 6PM and 6AM, with further heave rain today.

Ain’t going anywhere near HW2 or the Coromandel Peninsular, driving Mrs. AI’s baby BMW anytinme soon!

Biden administration shooting down its own ‘green’ energy ideology

The Biden administration is stymieing its own “green” energy efforts after the Interior Department announced the blocking of mining in parts of Northeast Minnesota for the next 20 years.

Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland signed Public Land Order 7917, withdrawing 225,504 acres in the Superior National Forest from leasing to mining or geothermal companies through 2043, according to the department’s press release. The administration has canceled multiple mining projects over the past two years while prioritizing a green energy transition, which requires mining of critical minerals and metals.

Damage in Pennsylvania largely occurred along the Monongahela River basin.[1] In Brownsville, 35 businesses were flooded, while in Greensboro, high waters damaged roads and forced 300 people to evacuate. During the floods, 23 barges broke free and became lodged in the Maxwell Lock & Dam, which is an important shipping link; the lock remained closed for nearly six weeks, costing the local economy $20 million in lost production. The same river crested at 44 ft (13 m) in Charleroi, breaking the record set in 1967. The flooded river caused $1 million in damage at California University of Pennsylvania, broke 40 barges from their moorings, and forced about 2,600 people to evacuate; one person in North Charleroi drowned after returning to his evacuated home. Throughout the region, the floods damaged or destroyed 3,349 houses,[7] leaving at least 2,000 people homeless,[29] and statewide damage was estimated at $83 million.[1]

Somebody called ‘sodpoodle’ occasionally posts these ’email from a friend’ items on Free Republic and they are a hoot!

    MEN ARE JUST HAPPIER PEOPLE!

What do you expect from such simple creatures? Your last name stays put. The garage is all yours. Wedding plans take care of themselves. Chocolate is just another snack. You can never be pregnant. You can wear a white T-shirt to a water park. You can wear NO shirt to a water park. Car mechanics tell you the truth. The world is your urinal. You never have to drive to another gas station restroom because this one is just too icky.

You don’t have to stop and think of which way to turn a nut on a bolt. Wrinkles add character. Wedding dress – $5,000. Tux rental – $100. People never stare at your chest when you’re talking to them.

New shoes don’t cut, blister, or mangle your feet. One mood all the time. Phone conversations are over in 30 seconds flat. You know stuff about tanks. A five-day vacation requires only one suitcase. You can open all your own jars.

You get extra credit for the slightest act of thoughtfulness. If someone forgets to invite you, he or she can still be your friend. Your underwear is $8.95 for a three-pack. Two pairs of shoes are more than enough. You almost never have strap problems in public. You are unable to see wrinkles in your clothes.

Everything on your face stays its original color. The same hairstyle lasts for years, maybe decades. You only have to shave your face and neck. You can play with toys all your life. One wallet and one pair of shoes – one color for all seasons. You can wear shorts no matter how your legs look.

You can ‘do’ your nails with a pocket knife. You have freedom of choice concerning growing a mustache… You can do Christmas shopping for 25 relatives on December 24 in 25 minutes. No wonder men are happier!

NICKNAMES: If Laura, Kate, and Sarah go out for lunch, they will call each other Laura, Kate and Sarah. If Mike, Dave and John go out, they will affectionately refer to each other as Fat Boy, Bubba, and Wild Man.

EATING OUT: When the bill arrives, Mike, Dave and John will each throw in $20, even though it’s only for $32.50. None of them will have anything smaller and none will actually admit they want change back. When the girls get their bill, out come the pocket calculators.

MONEY: A man will pay $2 for a $1 item he needs. A woman will pay $1 for a $2 item that she doesn’t need but it’s on sale.

BATHROOMS: A man has six items in his bathroom: toothbrush and toothpaste, shaving cream, razor, a bar of soap, and a towel. The average number of items in the typical womans’ bathroom is 337. A man would not be able to identify more than 20 of these items.

ARGUMENTS: A woman has the last word in any argument. Anything a man says after that is the beginning of a new argument.

FUTURE: A woman worries about the future until she gets a husband. A man never worries about the future until he gets a wife.

MARRIAGE: A woman marries a man expecting he will change, but he doesn’t. A man marries a woman expecting that she won’t change, but she does.

DRESSING UP: A woman will dress up to go shopping, water the plants, empty the trash, answer the phone, read a book, and get the mail. A man will dress up for weddings and funerals.

NATURAL: Men wake up as good-looking as they went to bed. Women somehow deteriorate during the night.

OFFSPRING: Ah, children! A woman knows all about her children. She knows about dentist appointments and romances, best friends, favorite foods, secret fears, and hopes and dreams. A man is vaguely aware of some short people living in the house.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY.: A married man should forget his mistakes. There’s no use in two people remembering the same thing!

Energy Department proposes efficiency rules for cooking devices after gas stove furor

    https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/restoring-america/policy/energy-environment/energy-department-proposes-regulations-for-cooktops

The metrics used would not attempt to limit stove usage when they are installed and in use, a department spokesperson emphasized.

“Instead, the metric will ensure cooktops are produced to meet a certain level of energy efficiency if the proposed rule is finalized,” the person said.
    .
    .
It would also impose regulations on electric ovens for the first time, providing that they may not utilize a linear power supply, or one that produces unregulated as well as regulated power.

Gas ovens would be subjected to the same prohibition.

Someone please explain ‘linear power supply and regulated/unregulated power, I have no idea what they’re talking about

Well, if they’re not going to limit my USE of the stove, then they’re going to limit the AMOUNT of fuel I use? ‘Energy efficiency’? They’re going to make methane burn more efficiently? Did somebody alter the law on thermodynamics or something and I just missed it?

Next up: Limit on breathing to reduce carbon emissions

I hate these people with the heat of a thousand suns

I have been remiss attending to my paperwork, so I caught up today and looked at the Medicare statement from my hospitalization last August when I contracted E coli.

Well, first off, the quack ER doc diagnosed me with Covid, which I knew was bullshit. He gave me one dose of hydrocodeine for the pain, and after that – nothing. I never saw him again. It was 4 hours in the ER before I could get water.

Got a room (finally) and no pain meds. FINALLY, they gave me MOTRIN. They wouldn’t let my husband in cuz COVID. They did feed me, and the food was good, but I was in so much pain I couldn’t eat. The morning of day 3, they told me I was being discharged. Because my insurance wouldn’t cover any more. I still couldn’t walk, even with a walker. I left in a wheel chair. Hubby got me to his doc the next day. She immediately gave me a script for pain, took blood and urine. Noted the notes from the hospital ER said there was blood in my urine, at the very least I had a UTI. Diagnosis E. Coli.

That could have killed me. Hubby’s doc loaded me up on antibiotics and more pain stuff. In 20 minutes, no more pain. I could walk.

The services the hospital claimed to medicare were NEVER provided. I did not have ANY IVs, I had absolutely NOTHING but Motrin. That’s IT.

    $12,000.

Thank god we have 2 hospital systems here. When Hubby’s doc ordered radiographs to be sure there was nothing else going one, we went to that hospital. I looked at their claims and there were straight up.

Yep. Here’s lookin’ at all you Rothko-esque frauds

“Our exaggerated reverence for the creative impulse derives from the romantics of the early 19th century… and filtered through from intellectual bohemia…”
“… to the upper middle classes…. Now, quite banal instances of human creativity are preposterously overvalued. Witness the often conceited superiority of those in only tangentially creative professions. Why should a newspaper columnist or an advertising copywriter feel himself to be more interesting than a banker or a cleaner? I have lawyer friends who complain of the rictus countenances and slipping eye-contact they get from artistic types at parties. But I know those parties. And I know my lawyers are the most interesting people in the room. … [Some] argue that AI cannot be creative because it lacks internal understanding, is merely a ‘king of pastiche’…. But this is close to what those original artists were doing too — the artist’s great struggle, the critic Harold Bloom argues, is confronting and overcoming the influence of predecessors. And does it even matter what’s going on internally now that human audiences fail to distinguish between a composition by a robot and one by Bach…?… AI should disillusion us of the spurious glamour of creativity.

Ah. Growing up in high school, I had 2 best girl friends. Thick. As. Thieves. One was a quite talented artist, went to Syracuse, ended up in NYC (Chelsea), had at least 2 shows that I know of, (I went to one), married another artist (dead ringer for Paul McCartney and one of the most insufferable pricks I’ve ever met. He fell down dead some years ago, lightly mourned by his 4th wife.) Anyhoo, when The Artist dumped the dead weight she contemplated moving back to Pittsburgh but moaned “Who is there to talk to? About WHAT?”

    I hung up on her.

Years later, Hubby and I were visiting the other friend in our high school crew in Pgh, who is still my BFF. The Artist showed up with her adorable daughter (named ELECTRA, as God is my witness). She was back in the ‘burg teaching art at Upper St Clair high school (CW knows what I’m sayin’). Living with her parents. BFF’s mom was there and she and Hubby immediately bonded over baseball and The Artist could NOT have been more disgusted. She escaped early, she just couldn’t drink beer. She didn’t stay in touch w/me or BFF.

Years later BFF’s mom died. I still had The Artist’s parents’ phone number, so I called. Sure ’nuff she was there. Told her about BFF’s mom, the church, funeral service, blah blah blah and told her to be sure ‘your artist ass shows up’. After the funeral BFF called me. “You told The Artist didn’t you?” “Oh, she showed up!” “Yeah, she did and she was very nice, really”

And that was the LAST time I ever spoke to The Artist. Thank God.

Barrel rolls, any aircraft can do one as long as the pilot knows what they are doing. It is a low G and low stress on the airframe maneuver.

But the pilot HAS to know what they are doing.

Test pilots barrel rolled Concorde to gain confidence in the airframe and flight controls.

( prototype Concords had ejection seats LOL)

    This stuff is excellent. BUT.

it’s more expensive than Scottish wild caught and is less dense in muscle and fat. And there is a subtle something that is missing.

Overall, VERY good but not worth the $28/lb. Scots was 14

They saw you coming mate. Nothing like fresh wild salmon but the Kiwi stuff is OK. There are two types …. fresh water and salt water. The fresh water salmon is raised in the hydro electric dam’s ‘power races’ (outfall channels once the hydro water has exited the turbines) in the Southern Alps. The salt water salmon used to be raised in the Marlborough Sounds at the top of the South Island. The Sounds salmon are moving from near Blenheim to Cook Straight between the North and South Islands where the water is colder and has a fast current with 6-800 feet depth of water. There are zero contamination from salmon shit although all farmed salmon are now fed with a mix of Kiwi and Chilean fish food that maximises the fish weight gain. Hence Cold’s notice that the flesh has lower muscle density.

    US $28 a Lb … that’s …over US$ 60 or NZ$90 a Kg RETAIL. That’s MADDNESS. You’re getting suckered.

I can source pallet loads of fresh caught and chilled (NOT Frozen) and airfreighted salmon anywhere in the US for a fraction of that. If either of you guys want to make some $$$$ do let me know and we can do some business.

You’ll need a wholesaler to handle the logistics but we can do the business where EVERYONE makes a very good living. Loads of experience with off season foods mostly to China ….. not anymore…. SPIT. Also have experience in craft woollens into the US so it’s not as if we are ‘newby’s’ in the US marketplace. US retail is a hiding for nothing and wholesale is the ONLY way to go!

    🙂

e-Mail me if you’d want to discuss it!

Yup… Just as I said. A BARREL Roll . The magic thing that this driver said was those magic words…….. POSITIVE G ….

As long as you keep positive G all the way over and don’t get NEGATIVE you can BARREL roll ANY aircraft quite safely.

I used to instruct aerobatics students and they always had a great experience.

    🙂

More Airports to Use Greener ‘Glide’ Approach to Landing

Eleven more U.S. airports plan to adopt a new way of landing planes that reduces both emissions and noise — all by having incoming planes turn off their engines and glide down to the tarmac like a paraglider.

    https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/more-airports-to-use-greener-glide-approach-to-landing/?ref=upstract.com

This is how BAD Habits get started. Feel free to close the thrust levers for decent, but once you get close to the ground ALWAYS … ALWAYS SPOOL UP a jet engine or eventually you will kill yourself your whole crew and ALL of the passengers! FFS. Spool up a jet engine to 75-80% on approach or you WILL eventually cock it up, and when you NEED a large handful of thrust immediately… then the engine will just ‘think about it’ for about 5 seconds before you get the thrust you needed 5 seconds ago. By then you will part of a flaming ball of aluminium and kerosene, at the bottom of a very deep hole in the runway!
    I mean exactly THAT.

    SERIOUSLY!

    @ eaglesoars:
Large Turbo-Fan engines are very heavy and have both a mass of inertia and momentum. Turbofans react really slowly. Therefore dirty up the wings with trailing edge flaps and slats and leading edge flaps. Get set up for landing and get your gear down and SPOOL UP the engines to say 80% so that if you need POWER you’ve got your engine fans up to speed and all of that inertia as ‘money in the bank’ giving you instant thrust … especially when you need it!

So, the 1619 project now has a TV series on Hulu. Should be listed under fiction or alternate history but instead is front and center shoved in your face everytime you load up Hulu.
