A Shocking Vodka Open

Well, it’s all fun and games until someone puts an eye out, or until someone just up and blows up the game.

The predictable fun is over. A bunch of rebel Finnians just disrupted the very predictable vodka game. Poland or Russia? Potato or wheat? BLAH BLAH BLAH!

Well then, UP THE REPUBLIC!

I am both shocked and somewhat satisfied that a small batch whiskey crew made in the west of Ireland even got to get a consideration to be in THE DREADED CHALLENGE at our place. The Dreaded Challenge is a simple, multiple blind test. We don’t do this if either of us has to work in the morning or that we think that the vodka in question is even worth testing.

New vodka in the house that is even accepted (fail is relegated to mixes and not bought again) is taken in small sips at cellar temp V Stoli, v Reka, V Tito’s V snow queen. Now, mind yinz, Mrs Coldwarrior was completely gobsmacked when Tito’s won over even some really over the top Russian stuff a few years ago.

Fail: Rain (organic shit, the worst vodka ever,) I cant’t remember the name of the other crap, i used it to make vodka sauce and an infusion. But I digress.

Both of us dutifully tested each other with 4+1 Vodkas. Reka, Snow Queen, Tito’s, Stoli, versus the Straw Boys. One test was before dinner, one after. Yinz will notice that I haven’t included any ’boutique’ brands…Chriraq, Skullz, well, we aren’t rap stars or comedians with a brand to sell.

Anyway.

Vodka is simple. it’s not hard, make a grain neutral spirit that feels good on the palate. And that’s the rub. It’s a tricky thing, potato, rye, wheat…rice…yep…rice..Haku from Suntory, rice vodka that, while smooth, has a fun Saki kick. Didn’t make the Dreaded Challenge but is always on hand.

Anyone reading closely eyeballed Snow Queen…it’s a long story and one of the best bottles of booze in the wold.

End results: The Finnians beat everyone in 4 blind tastes over two days.

Night Yinz!

I don’t mean to be cruel but the guy was brain dead before he was brain dead. Where’s the wife? She took the kids and beat feet to Canada after he checked into Walter Reed for depression.

  4. 5 | February 26, 2023 9:00 pm

    @ rightymouse:
Even up to yesterday the reports were he “may have permanent brain damage” which is a big DUH. Aside from Cardillo I see nothing about “brain dead”. Cardillo apparently likes to drop twitter bombs and walk away. As for the wife and kids, supposedly they were getting death threats or something and left for Canada.

There are much bigger things to worry about than Fetterman’s semi-functioning brain.

But I really like this UK site, authentic English food. The pies are awesome! the meat pies. Made a few and the pastry used is NOT something that you encounter here.

Anyway here is that site’s Shepard’s Pie it is a UK site he gives ingredients in grams, not the cups and teaspoons and other totally useless measurements that USA sites tell you.

Appointed by the governor to serve until the next general election, which would be this November. That’s why people were saying that they need to hide his condition until mid-August, which is the filing deadline for the general. If a replacement is appointed after that date, he or she would serve until November of 2024’s election.

That was an utter disaster, because it resulted in a huge population imbalance in China. The tens of millions of men in that generation who will never be able to find wives are going to cause big problems for the regime.

Pick up Heinze 57 a little of it on the plate as a side really enhances any mash and stew pie.

Just a little, on the side, and do it the British way.

Dip the end of the fork in the sauce then scoop up the pie.

NOT pour a half of a bottle on the meal!

While we are discussing Ohio and rain.

Setting fire to that train crash to get rid of the toxic shit was the correct thing to do. If the burn was hot enough.

Incinerating toxic shit at a VERY high temperature breaks it down into basic elements. That is how they dispose of the billions of tons of nerve gas the USA made.

What they did in East Palestine was criminal. No way hot enough.

    Well a cat story!

A couple of years ago I had one of those plastic bear things of honey and when the kittens got into a nasty fight I squeezed some honey on my finger and dabbed it on their paws. That stopped the fight. By the time they cleaned honey off paws they forgot why they were fighting.

Fast forward to today. Cats three years old and no honey!

Cats trying to kill each other, but I has coconut spray! That will distract them while they clean off coconut oil from their fur.

Nope, now two very slick shiny black cats are still trying to kill each other!

Bonus is while they are rolling around on the floor in a fight to the death all the crap on the floor is sticking to them.

That aint happening if it is coated in sauce.

    Explain Zimbabwe…

When I was there 3,000 white farmers fed two thirds of Africa all on their own. Leave the country for 40 years and the locals are all starving. Same piece of dirt involved yet they are starving in Zimbabwe as are large swaths of Africa. Whilst those white farmers are living in Perth Western Australia and Toronto. Ask yourself… what changed!

Rhodesia….. there I said yet another banned word …. in the winter is a perfect climate the bulk of Rhodesia is 5,000′ above sea level and temperate. Winter is what winter SHOULD be …. Every day it’s sunny cloudless and 22 degrees Celsius with just a zephyr of wind to cool you in the afternoon. It might have a shower overnight but I can guarantee that be morning it’ll be another perfect day.The bush has lost most of its leaf cover except for the evergreens, which makes it perfect to wander about watching wild animals. Even the animals keep ‘gentlemen’s hours as they don’t get active before 8AM when it warms a little from the sunshine. On day #1 I made the mistake of having an early breakfast and driving my Landrover about looking for game. At 0530 I was the only living thing that was up and moving! When I complained about where the 3,000 elephant were hiding the locals cracked up laughing. Day#2 I had a leisurely breakfast, read the newspaper and got in my Landrover at 8AM and voila …. game all over the place. Even saw a leopard stalking a Zebu bull antelope. The bull knew that the leopard was there but when it got too close the bull (standing 6’ at the shoulder, just faced the leopard and stamped its feet in warning and lowered its really serious horns. The leopard popped up, looked embarrassed and sauntered off, thinking nahhh too big and too much trouble!

    🙂

Population is 4700. Say 15,000 if the unincorporated area is included.

At a $2,000 rent it would cost $180 million to move all those people 20 minutes west for 6 months. Zelensky can afford that easily. Hunter’s drug dealer can probably afford it.

Maybe it sets a bad precedent to do something like that. Can’t do it every time there is a disaster in a crowded country. Can’t do it for a large area. And makes politicians think they can mass move populations to solve issues.

But it’s free political money for Biden if he does it.

Are you talking about Gettysburg? Cemetery Ridge? I’ve been there 3 times. The Union’s height advantage is indeed true, but not by much (see Omaha Beach). The other, more significant problem is that Lee had to attack over a wide open field. It was a suicide mission.

There is a proliferation of U.S.-funded, supposedly free journalism organizations and training courses linked to various left-wing opposition newspapers in Hungary, according to the Hungarian civil rights group, Tűzfalcsoprt (Firewall Group).

One of the largest foreign-funded press outlets — news portal Telex — has recently announced that it is launching a training program funded by the U.S. government called Telex Academy, to supposedly train young people and teachers in independent, objective journalism. The Telex Academy project is led by three Hungarian journalists who all work for opposition media.

Harry has been a Counsellor for some time.

Well, it turns out that one of the rules is you actually have to have a domicile in the UK. With the eviction from Frogmore, Harry’s only home is the U.S. So, buh bye to the Counsellor role.

This will also change his visa status and his tax situation and from what I’m reading, not for the better.

Gotta hand it to Charlie, that was one smooth move.

I’m looking at air fryers. This is an amazon review for a ninja air fryer which is the funniest thing I’ve read in years.

Wow, this thing is great. So, we finally broke down and got an air fryer. I read the reviews and for the money this Ninja one looked like the best deal. Let me tell you something this thing is great. So, it cooks faster than an oven but probably slower than deep frying. It produces crisp, good tasting food that is almost as good as fried.
As a fatty I got to say I love my fried food. The air fryer tastes much better than baked and better for you than fried. I mean I can tell a difference now, don’t get me wrong. It is not going to taste like French fries deep fried in lard, but its close.
I decide I am going to make hot wings. Good idea, right? Well the first batch came out great. Even better than fried because they were a bit crispier. So, I decide I want to have a glass of wine while I cooked. This was my first mistake. God, I wished I had just went with whiskey. So, I insert the corkscrew into the cork and pop, it broke. Oh well, I thought let’s see what the internet has to offer on alternative methods of wine bottle opening.
The first option is to screw a screw into the cork then pry it out using the screw as a lever. Well, I can’t do that because the corkscrew is broken off into the cork. The second option said to use a lighter to heat but the air in the neck of the bottle and the cork will rise out. The third option was to place the bottle in a shoe to not break the glass. Then smack the shoe against a wall. I went with option two. Note this was my second mistake.
So, I break out the old lighter and start heating the glass up. Mind you I am also flipping my chicken wings in the air fryer while starting to heat up some hot sauce and other ingredients on the stove for my buffalo sauce. I decided I needed help so enlisted my 18-year child to hold the lighter up to the glass while I cooked. No good, this trick isn’t working.
I tell him he can stop we are going to go with option three, the shoe. Here comes the third mistake. I grabbed the bottle. Yep you read that right I bare handed the bottle that I had ben applying a direct flame to for over 5 minutes. To top it off I grabbed the neck. This resulted in the most pain I have ever felt in my entire life. This is the pain Atreyu felt when Artax sunk in the swamp of sadness. This was the pain worse than 10 kicks to the balls. This was real pain. Kidney stones have nothing on my hand at this moment. I was done. My hand felt like it had melted to the bottle.
Remember my son that I had help me? Well he is still there, and I must look like a man so I can’t cry, but boy did I want to cry. I haven’t wanted to cry this bad sense I watched “Ole yeller”. Despite the pain and fighting back tears. I managed to place the bottle in my shoe and set it on the table. I am still wanted to try that trick.
I then went into first aid mode, hand in the sink water running, ahhhh sweet relief. Unfortunately, that was not to last. The cool water only did so much. I decided burn creme would work. Nope don’t have any. Back to the water. Perhaps some ice. Ahhh flip the wings, run the water, check the sauce wait ….
The pot isn’t simmering. Why is the cutting board on the stove look funny? Yep mistake four here I come. I turned on the wrong burner and now my plastic cutting board has turned to liquid on my stove. Hand back in water again. I then retrieve my putty knife to scrape the stove clean. This causes wisps of plastic string to go from the stove to the sink. Hand goes back into the water.
At some point my son decides to wake the wife. Did I mention this was at about 1 am? She come into the kitchen and sees me. With one shoe one, a bottle of wine on the table inserted into my shoe. Note she mentions that is the shoe I walk into bathrooms in and its on her table. She then notices the burnt cutting board and an abundance of melted plastic in the sink. She then simply asks “hot wings hu?”
She is a god wife and wants me to go to the hospital for my possible 3rd degree burns on my hand but me, being a man, I decide I can tuff it out. She ends up getting me more ice and leaving my son in charge to go back to bed once she understands I am not budging on the whole doctor thing.
Anyway, in conclusion the hot wings were the best I have ever made. Although eating them one handed was a bit of a chore. I stayed up all night in pain and now I am out of ice. I never did open that bottle of wine. Also, that air fryer rocks.

It’s Time To Admit It: EVs Are EVIL

It’s Time To Admit It: EVs Are EVIL

Here’s one recent bit of evidence. A Bloomberg investigation found that the aluminum Ford is using to build its “eco-friendly” EV pickup comes from Brazil.

“There, in the heart of the Amazon, rust-colored bauxite is being clawed from a mine that has long faced allegations of pollution and land appropriation,” it found. A class action lawsuit against the mining company accuses it of polluting the water, causing cancer, hair loss, neurological dysfunction, birth defects, and increased mortality.

While all cars use aluminum to cut pounds, EVs use far more to offset the enormous weight of the batteries themselves.

“For consumers seeking to lower their carbon footprints, the environmental and social costs of electric vehicles may be greater than they realize,” Bloomberg says.

    No kidding.

Here’s the dirty, rotten truth about EVs.

EVs aren’t “zero emissions” vehicles. All an EV does is shift the emissions elsewhere — namely, over to gigantic monopoly power companies that burn natural gas, coal, garbage or, horror of horrors, employ nuclear fission. Plus, making electric cars releases far more CO2 than is emitted in the production of conventional cars.

EV enthusiasts say these aren’t problems because over its lifetime, an EV will produce fewer total CO2 emissions.

But that claim depends on a wide range of variables — such as the range of an EV, how long the batteries last, the energy source used to produce electricity, etc. — that can dramatically affect the EV’s carbon-cutting picture.

One study by the University of Michigan found that EVs can emit more CO2 than conventional cars. It said that depending on the fuel used by power plants in a given area, an EV can produce as much CO2 as a gas-powered car that gets just 29 miles per gallon.

EVs aren’t cheaper to operate. Another selling point of EVs is supposed to be that, while they are far more expensive to buy, they are cheaper to drive. But that depends entirely on the relative cost of electricity and gasoline.

There was a BBQ debate on Mary Katherine Ham’s podcasts. It was focused on the Carolinas. Apparently there is a sweet BBQ method and a sour one. East Carolina likes to use vinegar as their BBQ base whereas North Carolina does not. MKH favors the sour but from a particular family restaurant as apparently some sour BBQ is better than other.

I understand that animals – humans included – must eat and that involves killing other animals. The way of the world and I’m a serious meat eater. Also fish.

Temple Grandin is an advocate for ‘humane’ killing, Hubby has worked with her. As an aside, the term ‘humane’ in this context is absurd but right now I can’t think of a better one.

Also see: bull fighting. I went to a bull fight in Madrid. I was ready to nuke Spain.

As for ‘thousands of lives saved’ – I MIGHT entertain that argument with more info. But given what we’ve learned over the past 3 years about animal experiments and big pharma – remember Fauci funding the torment of beagles by cutting their vocal cords and infesting them with fleas in experiments completely unnecessary – I suspect that the field is itself infested with psychopaths and fucking NOBODY is getting the benefit of my doubt. Beagles for some reason are a preferred breed when it comes to animal experiments and because I’m a beagle mom I end up seeing the ass end of stuff I don’t want to know. There are a lot of sick people around with Ph.Ds and far too many deserve to eat my ammo.

Great start to the day. Nice sunny morning in Houston. Balcony door open so cats can bask in the sunshine!

Went outside and one cat missing! Oh no!

Asked remaining cat ” Where is Georgie? ”

    Answer was a loud ” Meeeeeoooooowwwww!!!! ”

Asked several more times, same reply.

Went back into house looking for Georgie and a cat appeared from under the bed to help me look.

Um, cat I was asking where Georgie was turns out to have been Georgie. Hence the loud replies LOL

Glen was the missing cat and he was asleep under the bed it now is obvious.

I must get the identical twin cats collars so I know who is who. They are boys. I think I will order two blue ones.

Fauci Wanted Universal Human Separation Forever

Under his plan, we would have had lockdowns forever. In that sense, the vaccine at least represented a possible emancipation from the permanent prison-like conditions that Fauci was imagining at the time. And this is truly how the narrative turned out: lockdowns to end the pandemic, masks to stop the lockdowns, and vaccines to stop the masks. Of course nothing worked but each stage provided a test of compliance.

“While Dr. Fauci has been a government bureaucrat for more than 55 years, his household net worth skyrocketed during the pandemic,” OpenTheBooks CEO Adam Andrzejewski told Fox News. “Fauci’s soaring net worth was based on career-end salary spiking, lucrative cash prizes awarded by non-profit organizations around the world and an ever-larger investment portfolio.”

Fauci earned nearly $1 million from foreign non-profit organizations, including the Israel-based Dan David Foundation, which gave him $901,400 for “speaking truth to power” and “defending science” while working in the Trump administration, OpenTheBooks reported.

ATTORNEY GENERAL SEEKS TO MAKE WASHINGTON THE FIRST STATE WITH POLITICAL PRISONS

    https://libertysentinel.org/attorney-general-seeks-to-make-washington-the-first-state-with-political-prisons

Washington’s Democrat Attorney General, Bob Ferguson, wants to be governor. He thinks the best way to accomplish his goal is to build gulags & psych hospitals, much like in Soviet Russia, and populate them with Christians, Conservatives and Republicans. If House Bill 1333 passes and Democrat Governor Jay Inslee signs it (he will), Ferguson’s office will have the power to arrest and/or civilly commit anyone for uttering “wrong” facts. This is a terrifying plan to redefine “domestic terrorism” to punish “conservative” speech.

Ferguson seems especially afraid of “older” Americans because they have more knowledge of and respect for the Bill of Rights THAT EXISTS IN NO OTHER COUNTRY ON EARTH: “What can we do to prevent the radicalization of folks who are a bit older, in their 40s, their 50s, their 60s? And help them to get out of that if they are radicalized.” He mentioned forced counseling

The AG defines “domestic violence extremism” as much more than real, blood-in-the-streets violence. Ferguson includes “online disinformation” and “anti-government ideologies” as examples of the “domestic violence extremism” they want to criminalize. Actually, street violence is acceptable under this bill, so long as it is committed by thugs pushing a Marxist agenda.

Ferguson’s office claims conservative views, or anything he deems as “misinformation,” are examples of “domestic extremism.” He also wants to create a Washington State version of Biden’s Ministry of Truth to fund journalists to push his political agenda. [Oregon has pending legislation to pay newspapers for pushing left-wing propaganda.]

HB 1333 would create a Domestic Violent Extremism Commission in the AG’s office, staffed only with Democrats, Liberals, Progressives, Socialists, Communists and Marxists. The members will recommend legislative “solutions to combat disinformation and misinformation, address early signs of radicalization, and develop a public health-style response.”

There’s that ‘public health’ thing again

    The ever-entertaining EU

Heat pump makers worried by EU crackdown on climate-warming F-gases [‘F gases’?]

The European Parliament’s environment committee voted on Wednesday (1 March) for a quick phasedown of F-gas refrigerants, in a move that drew criticism from the heat pump industry.

Fluorinated gases were introduced in the 1990s to replace the ozone-wrecking “Hydrochlorofluorocarbons” (HCFCs) and are commonly used in cooling appliances like refrigerators and air conditioning systems.

The problem, however, is that F-gases wreak havoc on the climate and amount to an estimated 2.5% of the EU’s greenhouse gas emissions.

“F-gases are not well-known, but have major implications for our climate, as they are very powerful greenhouse gases,” explained Bas Eickhout, a Dutch lawmaker who steers the EU’s proposed F-gas regulation in the European Parliament.

    WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK??!!

The Fugee, the Fugitive and the FBI How rapper Pras Michél got entangled in one of the century’s great financial scandals, mediated a high-stakes negotiation between global superpowers and was accused of major crimes.

This is Bloomberg reporting, not some web scandal monger

    https://www.bloomberg.com/features/2023-us-china-tensions-scandal-fugees-1mdb/#xj4y7vzkg

Soon a short, chubby man with wavy hair arrived, surrounded by more security personnel. Michél had met him before. He was Sun Lijun, China’s vice minister of public security. Sun began shouting in Chinese. An interpreter translated for Michél: “Who the f— do the US government think they are?”

Sun said he’d come to the US for sensitive negotiations with President Donald Trump’s administration but had failed to secure a high-level meeting. For three years, Beijing had been targeting Chinese nationals living in America who it viewed as threats. Agents had surveilled emigrés, visited their houses and detained family members still in China, aiming to persuade the targets to return home, where some would be charged with serious crimes. Called “Operation Fox Hunt,” the covert repatriation strategy had infuriated US officials.

Had his own bedroom and all that. After he moved out and Dad married Camilla, he went to visit. His old bedroom had been turned into a dressing room for Camilla.

    OUTRAGE!!!

When I was 15 my parents informed me of the choices I had to make going forward, e.g., stay at home and pay rent, etc. etc. etc.

Moved him out of the positive pressure room and into a two bed room. You’re NOT going to believe this. The put a homeless guy in his room as they have run out of space for the homeless so they used a hospital room. This large hospital has a reputation for disgusting food quality … and they are living up to the hype!

” had sausages that were the worst!
Like someone didn’t raise that pig right. It came from a broken sty and after many years took its own life in a fit of despair and was turned into sausage. Boiled not cooked properly and served with a can of watery beans.
    It tasted like …. sadness!

    He’s 38.

All of us went down way or another. He went down with dislocated finger and the ‘runs and projectile vomiting, His best girl had a REALLY bad cold. The little man had a bout of his Cystic Fibrosis congestion and we think he came home from Kindy with a nasty bug his parents imported from their recent Asian trip. And I had a bout of CAA with bouts from 5 to 20 minutes over the past week when I was trying to offload my son and daughter in law by babysitting.

It’s been a bit of a campaign these last few weeks

Mark Mobius, a pioneer in emerging markets investing, said China is restricting investment outflows from the country, a move that would be taking place as the world’s second-largest economy is trying to shake off pressure from COVID-19 lockdowns.

“I’m personally affected because I have an account with HSBC in Shanghai. I can’t get my money out. The government is restricting the flow of money out of the country,” Mobius said on Thursday on the Fox Business show “Mornings with Maria”. “So I would be very, very careful investing in China,” the founder of Mobius Capital Partners said.

Mobius, who has spent decades traveling the world searching for investment opportunities, said he hasn’t been able to get an explanation about why he’s running into the restrictions in China.

“It’s just amazing. They’re putting all kinds of barriers,” he said. “They don’t say, ‘No, you can’t get your money out,’ but they say, ‘Give us all the records from 20 years of how you’ve made this money,’ and so forth. It’s crazy.”

It’s just the phrasing. It should have been to stop transgender education/indoctrination. Our side needs to get ahead of this crap and explain that it’s a mental/hormonal disorder that can be easily treated without massive life changing medical procedures and the massive risk of suicide.

The facts are kids are being mutilated and mentally tortured, then are killing themselves. The numbers of post-treatment trans suicides are massive but also not being released. It’s a true to life horror story.

    https://www.channelnewsasia.com/sustainability/way-we-eat-could-add-nearly-1-degree-warming-2100-3329231

Greenhouse gas emissions from the way humans produce and consume food could add nearly 1 degree of warming to the Earth’s climate by 2100, according to a new study.

Continuing the dietary patterns of today will push the planet past the 1.5 degrees Celsius limit of warming sought under the Paris climate agreement to avoid the worst effects of climate change, according to the study published Monday (Mar 6) in Nature Climate Change, and will approach the agreement’s limit of 2 degrees Celsius.

The modelling study found that the majority of greenhouse gas emissions come from three major sources: Meat from animals like cows, sheep and goats; dairy; and rice. Those three sources account for at least 19 per cent each of food’s contribution to a warming planet, according to the study, with meat contributing the most, at 33 per cent.

All emit large amounts of methane, a potent greenhouse gas with more than 80 times the warming power of carbon dioxide, in the way they are currently farmed. The researchers calculated that methane will account for 75 per cent of food’s share of warming by 2030, with carbon dioxide and nitrous oxide accounting for most of the rest.

Catherine Austin Fitts (CAF), Publisher of The Solari Report, financial expert and former Assistant Secretary of Housing (Bush 41 Admin.), says the Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) is much easier said than done. There is a monster fight behind the scenes between commercial banks and central banks.

CAF explains, “You have bubbled an entire economy, and now you are bringing out something (CBDC) that could shrink the bubble dramatically, and it can put a lot of banks out of the game and out of the business…”

The Fed is scared to death of the global debt growth model, and they kept this model going by growing the debt more and more and more. Now, interest rates are accelerating in a way . . . it shrinks your productivity. So, the pie that is supporting the debt, is shrinking….

This is a coup model just like in Ukraine. You push all the people out or you kill them. You have war conditions so you can pick everything up cheap. You can do this with government money to ‘help’ Ukraine. No, it is government money to help the insiders to buy Ukraine, control Ukraine, own Ukraine.

FBI worked secretly with hospitals to strip US citizens’ gun rights, documents show

    https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/restoring-america/fairness-justice/fbi-worked-secretly-with-medical-centers-to-strip-americans-gun-rights

The FBI coordinated secretly with hospitals and medical centers to strip U.S. citizens of their rights to own, buy, or even use firearms , according to a trove of internal documents obtained by the Washington Examiner.
    .
    .
Between 2016 and 2019, the FBI presented forms to U.S. citizens at their homes and in other undisclosed locations that registered them with the bureau’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System, the Washington Examiner previously reported . Newly obtained records, however, date the FBI’s usage of the form back to 2011.

Signatories of the internal forms were asked to voluntarily identify as a “danger” to themselves or others, as well as lacking the “mental capacity adequately to contract” their lives. The very existence of the FBI’s forms has raised significant concerns among First Amendment lawyers and members of Congress, including Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH), and Reps. Dan Bishop (R-NC) and Andrew Clyde (R-GA).
